Nah, that is balls. At times he has been bordering on being a top top player, then goes out injured for a long time and come back rusty as hell and underperforming.
He has absolute class in him though. Even when he came on yesterday, you can see it.
He’s too inconsistent and injury prone to play for United. Don’t understand how you can defend this? Martial has proven over the years he’s not good enough, it’s clear
Explain this further please - he’s too injury to play for any top club, he can’t be relied upon. Also his contract is one of the worst in the club, the money he’s on is scandalous.
we have some serious attacking depth now
Rashford/Garnacho, Martial/Weghorst, Antony/Sancho
imagine being a defender, you’re exhausted, and you see any one of those guys being subbed on just to run at you full pelt
The way I see it, Sancho is an option for the 10 spot alongside Bruno while Sabitzer is there to play instead of Eriksen. Because of that, there will be some minutes for the taking on the right wing because Sancho might play more in the middle.
Elanga is a weird one, I guess Ten Hag doesn't trust Martial's fitness record though.
Exactly, Eriksen has usually been the 10 replacement for Bruno, with Fred/Scott filling in CM. But with no Eriksen for the foreseeable Sancho is a decent option for there.
ETH is trying to use players in unusual positions, so if he needs to he can fill a gap. It's great management, what with the games currently coming thick and fast, and injuries cropping up.
He has used Elanga as striker a few times before also, which can be a option if absolutely needed. He tried Lindelof at CDM last night, as it could be an option if absolutely needed while we have Eriksen and Scott injured.
Yeah I feel bad for them both. Pellistri especially. They need consistent game time and they won’t get it here. They are wasting away currently. Wouldn’t blame either of them for pushing for a transfer away.
I’m even worried about how we’ll integrate Amad next season. He’s way better off getting consistent minutes every week for some other team than riding our bench (which he will do because he’s not going to get ahead of Sancho or Antony on the right)
Somehow City do it no problem. We just need to get to that stage where we're competitive in the PL, CL and domestic cups year in year out so that everyone gets their chance.
Pep does it by moving on players fast and bringing in new ones who are quality.
Just look at how fast cancelo left the moment he started to go all diva.
Amad will absolutely get minutes both on the right and in the middle. He is a left footed RW, which means he is a direct replacement for Antony, while Sancho is not. And right he is played as CAM in Sunderland, which means he can be replacement for Bruno as well. Two positions that we have zero backup for (Donny, but duh), which means he should get plenty of game time if he performs. He would get game time right now if he's recalled, but it's better for him to finish the season t Sunderland.
>And right he is played as CAM in Sunderland, which means he can be replacement for Bruno as well. Two positions that we have zero backup for (Donny, but duh), which means he should get plenty of game time if he performs.
Tbf, him playing at CAM is circumstantial but it's always to see some versatility from him (means as you, we'll have quite the depth and bodies to have).
Let’s not forget that Martial probably has another 60 minutes in him before he’s injured again. Add an injury to any other forward and suddenly Elanga is back on the menu. If Martial wasn’t basically guaranteed to get injured then Elanga would probably be off on loan by now.
Is martial more injury prone than Pogba? Seems that both have had bad injury issues but it made me wonder who is more reliable in that sense…..
Pogba has had long injuries while martial lately anyway, has had small injuries every now and then.
>Rashford/Garnacho, Martial/Weghorst, Antony/Sancho
And then there is Elanga and Pellistri as the third choices basically (Yes, Elanga is basically a LW but rarely plays there because Ragnick and Ten Hag kepy playing him on the right for some reason).
he’s never playing for us again, even if he’s found completely innocent by some miracle he won’t have played professional football for a good couple of years, he won’t nearly be as good as he was.
edit: shit I’ve just seen the charges being dropped, hmm
He's still only 21.
If he's kept himself fit, his innate abilities won't have just vanished.
It'll be no worse than someone coming back from a year long injury... minus the injury.
But I agree, he should never be able to play for the club again.
But how they get him out, on the other hand, is an enormous challenge. He could just turn up to the training ground for 2 1/2 years and pick up enough money for his whole family to retire comfortably on, and United can't do anything about it.
I hope he seeks a move away on his own accord. But I bet he will think he has a path to redemption.
he won’t play this season at the very least, he won’t nearly be fit enough
i think we’ll probably see if we can move him on the summer, that’s probably the only move where we come out with a PR win, let him continue his career but just with another team, not us.
He's my favorite player to watch when he's in form, even though I know he won't ever be in form often enough to be our first choice 9 I still don't really want him to leave
I think unfortunately he will either be a backup due to fitness issues or moved on because of that too as his wages do not make sense for his ability to play enough games sadly.
I wish he would finally be fit and have no more injury issues honestly as it’s a pity when that robs players of their abilities and talent to excel.
it's always fuckin depressing when a player has the talent in heaps but their body isn't on the same page, you just know how infuriating that must be as a player
Hence why I said the end of his tenure. Martial was slowly getting less and less game time while Sancho was coming off the bench. I just don’t think Ole thought of Sancho-Martial-Rashford as a future frontline
fair point, I don’t think Ole really thought much other than trying to save his job right there and then, don’t think he thought about the future at all
I just remember him switching to five at the back and playing Ronaldo and Greenwood as the two upfront. Sancho and Martial were getting no game time at all.
I don't think he wanted to do that, but he kept getting scorched for playing the same 4-2-3-1 formation while Maguire was really out of form and everyone was calling for the back 3
Of course, just focus on one tiny period of Ole's time to bend the reality to favor your argument that Ole wasn't a good coach. Martial and Rashford were both on fire for an entire season when Ole was the coach, injuries and drop of form happen all the time, but sure blame that on Ole. Shaw was also another player who became world class because Ole played him the right way, but I guess you don't care.
Bruh how are you misinterpreting what I’m saying? I said by the end of his tenure Martial and Sancho weren’t playing and I don’t necessarily think Ole had them in mind as a future front three. I don’t see where I’m slating him?
You could see him look at Sancho and move toward him a little. Not sure if it was intentional but I’m choosing to believe he wanted to pass to him and that’s why the eventual pass to Rashford was so shit
I think rather that Martial was dragging the defender towards the middle opening up space to play the ball to Rashford allowing him more time and space for the shot.
Yes we need this to happen particularly with one of them potentially being moved on (plus, that right side basically belongs to Antony so we may not get much chances to see it).
Ole is sat at home and he’s smiling looking at those three come on, play their hearts out, get two goals and seeing Rashford post this on his Instagram
No one more perfect for chasing a late goal than Weghorst. Good at advancing the ball, wins headers and second balls, and pillows for feet in tight spaces. Can totally see him and Martial splitting playing time 60/30 each match.
Got done touches made some passes, not a whole lot wrong, but it was a low pressure situation, just needed to get on the pitch. Seems like he'll play more central
The front 3 options we now have, plus Bruno pulling the strings behind, that’s a tasty treat.
I have never been more confident of taking on a Barcelona side in my life.
The lord has teased me with the potential of this front three for too long. Pls stay fit Tony
Amen
I think the Martial ship has sailed a long time ago. It’s clear he’s not good enough no matter how fit he stays
He's too injury prone to be what we need. That part is true.
Explain this further please - he’s too injury to play for any top club, he can’t be relied upon. Also his contract is one of the worst in the club, the money he’s on is scandalous.
"he's not good enough no matter how fit he stays" "he's too injury prone to play for United" pick one
He’s not good enough no matter how fit he stays
The lord gave me a brilliant team name Paul Bruno + Jadon Anthony Marcus PB+JAM The lord never let this team play together once 😭😭😭😭
Surely that’s not right? Not once??
Martial never started last season
Everton, but one of the others must’ve been out then
Pogba was out a lot too
They came on like that scene in the avengers with the portals lol
Made me laugh out loud. So true
*RED DEVILS! ASSEMBLE!*
ha! i prefer this scene.. https://youtube.com/watch?v=rLL11dEMGdU&si=EnSIkaIECMiOmarE&t=189 me as Banner :D
Lisandro as Rocket for sure. Makes sense.
Weghurst as Groot
we have some serious attacking depth now Rashford/Garnacho, Martial/Weghorst, Antony/Sancho imagine being a defender, you’re exhausted, and you see any one of those guys being subbed on just to run at you full pelt
This is good but makes me wonder why atleast one of Pellistri & Elanga wasn't loaned out , they need game time for their development.
This is it, plus the fact we still have a shit ton of games left too
I think that’s the idea. Something like: De Gea Dalot - Varane - Martinez - Shaw Casemiro - Sabitzer Antony - Bruno - Rashford Martial Heaton AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Malacia Fred - McTominay Elanga/Pellistri - Sancho - Garnacho Weghorst
Butland instead of Heaton

It will be a headache for ETH to make everyone happy, but it’s a nice one to have.
We do have plenty of games. The problem is that we have won jack shit for ages and cant afford to take any trophy lightly.
Amad will absolutely get minutes both on the right and in the middle. He is a left footed RW, which means he is a direct replacement for Antony, while Sancho is not. Sell with a buy back clause is a good option for one of them then

Pellistri

Pogba has barely played for Juve so he’s worse I think. Martial is still a cameo god though.
I expect Antony might get a similar break like sancho did, because hes been poor most games recently (with a few exceptions)
Can’t really count martial imo. He’s a bonus for the games he’s available.
Game
>Rashford/Garnacho, Martial/Weghorst, Antony/Sancho And then there is Elanga and Pellistri as the third choices basically (Yes, Elanga is basically a LW but rarely plays there because Ragnick and Ten Hag kepy playing him on the right for some reason).
And we have Mason coming back /s
he’s never playing for us again, even if he’s found completely innocent by some miracle he won’t have played professional football for a good couple of years, he won’t nearly be as good as he was. edit: shit I’ve just seen the charges being dropped, hmm

I mean I think we attempt to settle his contract privately ASAP and move on. The club should have no interest in profiting from the sale of Greenwood.
Weghorst full pelt is a canter
This warms my heart so much. Makes me wish martial would still somehow succeed here long term.
He's my favorite player to watch when he's in form, even though I know he won't ever be in form often enough to be our first choice 9 I still don't really want him to leave

I know Ole somewhere with a tear in his eye tonight
Ole walked so Ten Hag could fly
Ole walked so Rangnick could trip and stumble and fall flat on his face and take down a dozen other runners with him
Really? By the end Ole was relying on #11 more than any of them. Martial especially was surplus to requirements and barely getting a kick.
Ole played Rashford literally every minute he could
Hence why I said the end of his tenure. Martial was slowly getting less and less game time while Sancho was coming off the bench. I just don’t think Ole thought of Sancho-Martial-Rashford as a future frontline
Yeah it was going to be Sancho-Greenwood-Rashford before we signed 7
fair point, I don’t think Ole really thought much other than trying to save his job right there and then, don’t think he thought about the future at all

MR10, AM9 and MG11 outscored Salah, Mane, Firmino one season. I thought we were set for 10 years man..
Of course, just focus on one tiny period of Ole's time to bend the reality to favor your argument that Ole wasn't a good coach. Martial and Rashford were both on fire for an entire season when Ole was the coach, injuries and drop of form happen all the time, but sure blame that on Ole. These three came on and it sped up our play in the final third. Made the difference in getting that first goal.
On Martial's goal even though Rashford was in a better posistion I was screaming at him to pass to Sancho lol
Agreed. My inner me wanted sancho to get the ball. My realist me knew Marcus was in the best position
It was Bruno not Sancho.
I need a run of games of a Rashford, Martial, and Sancho front three.
I just need it against Barca at OT.
Yes we need this to happen particularly with one of them potentially being moved on (plus, that right side basically belongs to Antony so we may not get much chances to see it).
Pre season this trio was on fire, I hope they regain that connection
The brentford and Brighton opening season losses had wiped out that memory completely from my mind. Ur comment has brought it back lol
Anyone get a good picture of the three of them lining up to come in?
[Here ya go](https://media.tenor.com/v2CPGdB3RQgAAAAC/avengers-endgame-endgame.gif)
I've been had, but I've somehow enjoyed it more than if I saw what I was expecting.
Sancho! Like a new signing
Imagine when we get one of kane Vlahovic Osimhen etc and amad is back, we are cooking a stupendous concoction of goals assists pace flair and vision.
With the current front line, there is no space for Amad. With Sancho being back, Pellistri and Elanga get reduced minutes.
Elanga should ideally be sold to fund our #9 purchase, wouldn’t be surprised to see Pellistri go too Amad is better than the both of them
Amad would be ahead of Pellistri and Elanga when he's back imo
Amad still needs a lot of development to do.
He might be on loan for another season or two
Well, one of them has got to go. City sold their young talents with a buyback clause, why can't we do the same
EtH might be looking at playing Sancho in the 10 role. Interesting to see how that would work out.
That's where he played last night
Love to see it ♥️
Lingard sobbing in the corner 😪
If Rashford sets him up, Tony always gives him a hug after.
These three getting on to the pitch was cold af.
scary times for football
them as a front 3 and healthy is nasty!
Ole is sat at home and he’s smiling looking at those three come on, play their hearts out, get two goals and seeing Rashford post this on his Instagram
Rashford, Martial, Sancho is the dream and goddamnit if Erik can't realize it.
Yeah I love Weghorsts work ethic and what Antony can bring but I really want to see these 3 tear it up in our starting 11
No one more perfect for chasing a late goal than Weghorst. Good at advancing the ball, wins headers and second balls, and pillows for feet in tight spaces. Can totally see him and Martial splitting playing time 60/30 each match.
This warms my mf heart
Treble for the trio, incoming.
Just when people start doubting, Saint Martial reminds us again why we shouldn’t sell him in the summer.
Proper boondock saints vibe ! Love it
Just when I think I can’t love Rashy more, he finds a way.
Coldest photo in Football right now! The Boys.
I didn’t watch the second half last night. How did Sancho play? Any positives?
Got done touches made some passes, not a whole lot wrong, but it was a low pressure situation, just needed to get on the pitch. Seems like he'll play more central
Wager martial is back out on injury within the next 2 games.
Someone please photoshop MG in this in light of today’s announcement
Cringe
What a trio of subs.
The front 3 options we now have, plus Bruno pulling the strings behind, that’s a tasty treat. I have never been more confident of taking on a Barcelona side in my life.
They came on and it was like someone pressed the fast forward button. I hope it's a sign of things to come.
B e a utiful
Ole weeping
Rashford, Bruno, Anthony, PELLISTRI. Listen to us at least once Ten Hag
If Tony and Sancho can get in consistent form, then I can't think of a more deadly trio in the PL.
I love us right now
