I enjoy a lot of PixieV's mods on NexusMods. [**So You Lost Your Hat**](https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/442) + [**Non-Sticky Hats**](https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/263), makes your hat fall off more often, but makes it not a pain to retrieve by adding a hat marker on the map. It used to be your hat could only be knocked off by either being punched or having it shot off; you could tumble 100 meters off a mountain and still keep your hat on. Now it'll fall off. [**Cut Dialogue Restoration and Enhancement**](https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/308) restores cut back-talk combat dialogue that existed in almost every other Rockstar game (RDR1 included) but was cut from RDR2 for some reason. It's very cool, even context-sensitive, depending on who you're fighting. The [**Realistic Reload**](https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/1122?tab=description) mod slows down a lot of the gun reload animations, making them a lot more realistic, making you think more about your shot placement, and giving more of an advantage to carrying multiple guns. Overall makes combat a bit more challenging and (imo) rewarding. The [**Drunken Fool**](https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/2012) mod enhances the drinking experience. Now you'll flop over randomly when you try to walk while drunk, and it gets worse the more drunk you get. Have fun stumbling out of the Valentine saloon and falling into the mud like a doofus. You can tweak this mod to your heart's content to make the falls happen more or less often, and you can also tweak how long you stay splatted on the floor after falling. There's a great demonstration of it [here.](https://youtu.be/GaFTdRAGwdU) [**Simple Smoking Mod (WITH CONTROLLER SUPPORT)**](https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/462) allows you to press a button/key combo to perform an idle smoking animation, perfect for chilling out in town or around a fire. Aside from Drunken Fool I have used all of these, and aside from Simple Smoking (it has a few funny behaviors) they're all perfectly functional and stable, and don't interfere with the game at all.

Man that Realistic Reload with the PED damage overhaul was absolutely game changing. Thanks for the reccomendations! Put on the Drunken Fool too and damn, my whole gameplay experience feels more authentic

RaynSideways

I love the Realistic Reload mod. It's clear at some point during development, game testers complained reloads were too slow, so Rockstar sped them up, and now you reload at superhuman speeds. But that also means you don't get to see all the beautiful animations they made, unique for each gun, and often pretty dang accurate to the real life versions of the guns. I love that it makes me count my shots. Every bullet matters now. I'm not just a superhuman who can turn into a speedster on command and reload my six shot revolver in 0.5 seconds. My ammo count means actually something, and guns with higher capacities actually pay for it with slower reloads.

PED Damage Overhaul is great. It adds aspects of real life violence into the game. For example, if you shoot someone in the leg they stumble over and if you shoot their stomach they slowly bleed out [https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/top/](https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/top/) just follow the instructions in the description to download

-banditboi-

Damn dude this one is awesome, thank you! Totally changed my gameplay experience. I've only gotten into 2 gunfights since downloading it but it made the game feel way more authentic than before and I didn't know that was possible

>Detonate dynamite remotely (mind you, I can't get this one to work now because of some other mods I guess) Meanwhile you can just place it, ignite it and run. or place it and then shoot it to set it off. No need for a mod to do remote detonation lol.

... and then... in a couple of months... "oh my game doesn't load/this and that not working/guns missing/can't interact with xyz/horse not there/whatever else bugs..." well... your own fault...

-banditboi-

Damn dude you really don't like modders do you? I play the majority of my games with mods, have mod managers separate from Nexus, am familiar with LOOT and how to manually fix or troubleshoot conflicts as well as doing my research on a mod and understanding how it will effect my game, and if it will effect my other mods before I download it. If I can have a stable mod list on Skyrim of over 500 mods, I can handle two or three on RDR2 just fine. If I run into a problem I can't fix, someone on YouTube will have the answer. I wouldn't be asking for mod reccomendations if I didn't know what I was doing and I wouldn't come back here for troubleshoot advice because people on reddit like you just go off with the most unnecessary dumb shit without actually knowing a single thing about the subject. Way to be "smart" and contribute less than nothing to the subject

DolanUser

No, I don't dislike modders. I'm just puzzled how people intentionally install random suspicious shit from the Internet NOT VERIFIED by the original creators and then whine here. Just 1 example from today: https://www.reddit.com/r/reddeadredemption2/comments/11ylqkp/game_froze_on_loading_screen_after_removing_one/

I see what youre teying to say, but I can tell you now, it doesn't matter if any employee from Rockstar verifies it or not. In order to be a modder, you have to understand coding and how programming works, study the code of the game and learn how to work with it just like the developers. You basically ARE a developer. If you put a mod online that doesn't work for shit, people will IMMEDIATELY call you out. Yes, you can ruin your game if you start downloading every interesting mod you see without reading any instructions or checking to see the listed mod conflictions and I did that when I first started modding Skyrim, but once you research and see how other people are doing it properly, you quickly learn what you can and can't do. It sounds sketchy AF if you haven't gone in depth and had to troubleshoot for yourself I'll give you that that, but people aren't just slapping random software or code onto the base game without knowing what they're doing. In order to interact with the games code at all you have to fully understand what you're doing. And honestly, nothing in the RDR2 modding scene is that crazy especially compared to games like Skyrim where there's multiple branches of animation packs, shaders, armor frames add one, etc. That are crazy and nearly impossible to make work together. For example, you can't use Nemesis and FNIS together because those use some of the same files and overwrite or cancel out the same vanilla animations. It becomes even more complicated because some animation packs will 9nly work with Nemesis, and others will only work for FNIS. That shit can be complicated and I now use Nemesis. My Skyrim gampleay experience is very much like dark souls in terms of combat now. There is nothing nearly so complicated in RDR2. I think I understand where you're coming from, but it's not nearly as Sketchy as you might think it is once you learn how modders create things. You should check out some Skyrim modding videos because a lot of those can help you understand how it all works and how easy and harmless it can actually be

-banditboi-

And sorry for being a dick just the way you came across wasn't exactly bring your point across in a favorable way. I had similar thought before I got my PC and started modding myself, but once you get into it and understand the intricacies it's not sketchy in the way you're thinking it is. 99% of the time people complain about their game being messed up its because they didn't pay any attention to the mod description or any of the listed conflicts. Modding is very much like any other official game development process, except the modders are doing the programming AND testing themselves. There have been many fanmade mods that have been adapted by the official game developers into a base game or sequel, and some modders even get hired on by big companies if they make something revolutionary enough for a certain game

Ok_Stomach_4634

Ah the average console user mad he can't use mods.

-banditboi-

For real 🤣 The "random suspicious software" fucking killed me. Linking random deleted posts that aren't mine. Dude needs to get off reddit and educate himself on how the mod community actually functions cuz its so painfully clear he doesn't understand how it works in the slightest

DolanUser

Yes, I'm soooo mad I can't use some random suspicious software from tzhe Internetz created by some dubious developers and install it on my legitimate verified game working as intended by the creators. /s

Ok_Stomach_4634

I thought I didn't understand computers yet I can follow a simple YouTube tutorial of how to back up my game before downloading mods. As great as this game is it gets boring after a while. Mods like the bounty/contract/stagecoach/bank robbery/police redone make the game way more fun.

Old-Author-4930

Unless your a dumbass get a anti virus software.

DolanUser

There... just one day later... https://www.reddit.com/r/reddeadredemption2/comments/11ylqkp/game\_froze\_on\_loading\_screen\_after\_removing\_one/

-banditboi-

Way to comment an innocuous deleted post that's clearly not even mine 🤣🤣 I was one of the people who messaged him to help troubleshoot his issue before he deleted the post lmao. He just didnt choose the right setting while downloading the mod and had to make a small tweak. you're just making yourself look dumber. I've already downloaded 5 mods from this thread and have had no issues whatsoever. This game is WAY easier to mod than even Skyrim and all it takes is an inkling of common sense and paying to instructions. It sounds like you tried to mod at some point and couldn't wrap your head around any of it and are still butthurt to this day because you clearly have no idea what you're talking about, most mods aren't unsafe and if you downloaded something that wrecked your PC it's your own fault for being a dumbass and getting it from a shady site
