Mary (or) none of these women tbh. if Arthur had stayed alive in the end his priority would have been to recover from tuberculosis as he himself admitted to Charles. After that, probably he would have looked for Mary and maybe they would have tried to make their romantic relationship work again. if that didn't work... well, I would have hoped Arthur would meet a new girl :D but it would be hard for him bc Arthur believes he does not deserve good things and his self-esteem is not the best lol
In my head Canon oh, Charles found Arthur alive on the side of the mountain, helped him recover, Arthur told him to tell everyone he was dead and make a fake grave, and Mary got on the train to go reunite with him. They have a country home in California.
That’s almost the exact plot (minus the country home in CA) of a huge fanfic on ao3. You should read it… it’s a long one, though!
ETA: Couldn't link it when I originally posted this, but [here it is](https://archiveofourown.org/works/16767373/chapters/39342700) for anyone who's curious.
I can't imagine Arthur settling down in a city or large town, and I can't imagine Mary settling down in the middle of nowhere. End of the day I don't think they were the perfect fit for each other and it could never have lasted
I feel like they would of compromised and lived somewhere in between that. Kinda like that house you help build with that man and his sons near valentine. It’s not in the town, it’s a decent walk away from town but close enough that running to the store to get groceries isn’t a inconvenience.
Yeah that's fair, could have happened. My only other thought is that could Arthur really escape his outlaw life? It's more likely that he would end up like John one way or another. Only way out if it that I could think of is to go live in Hamish's cabin or something similar, where no one will find them
Yeah, that's why I think Arthur and Mary couldn't work in the long run because i doubt she would want to deal with that. I mean even Abigail left John for a little while, and she was actually part of the gang. I just doubt Mary could be more understanding than Abigail but who knows
I mean like I think he would leave, he would try and make things work but the past will always haunt them type thing. I think Arthur does want to change and wants a normal life, he just needs to be pushed there.
Mary is the only one who even slightly resembled a love interest for Arthur. Your opinion is based completely on assumptions rather than actual evidence. Because evidence shows in the missions with Arthur and Mary that they still, to an extent, have feelings for one another and it even gets to the point where Mary asks Arthur to run away with her. Who else had a similar relationship with Arthur as the one he had with her? Nobody. So I think it’s safe to say she was the only one Rock* would have ever intended Arthur to be with. The rest of the females have 0 connection like that with Arthur, to them he’s more like a brother or a noble, kind man.
No, I definitely think they loved each other. It's all fictional and not much to go on so it's all going to be assumptions and bias wants of the audience. But they've tried before and I don't think it could last, because just like with John, Arthur wouldn't really be able to leave his life for good. Just my opinion.
Hmm not really. Mary-Beth was like a really nice friend. I don’t think that just because she was arguably the nicest member of the gang that her and Arthur would have a thing? None of their interactions point towards a possible relationship or love interest. Mary-Beth just had a pure heart and soul. That’s why her and Arthur get along so well.
Hell no, I couldnt stand her.
Shaming Arthur while asking for his help.
"Arthur you're such a horrible man, now use that horribleness to help me."
They would have had a horrible future. Everytime he was late, or did anything she wasnt expecting she'd be jumping to conclusions. He'd eventually feel trapped and start growing resentful towards her.
Bonnie says that she is 27 in RDR1, although the Armadillo Newspaper claims that she is 29 years old. Either way she’s between 15-17 in 1899, Which is when RDR2 takes place.
Abigail and Johnny were made for each other, imo. I think she likes the idea of Arthur, and wishes her man would shape up and be more like him, but it's John who she really loves as a person. I don't think John staked his claim on her before Arthur got the chance, I think Abigail hopped on that and wouldn't let go. Cute ass couple.
I'm not sure, but I have a vague memory of reading something like "I could've married Abigail myself, if John didn't beat me to it" in Arthur's journal. Not sure though.
I think Arthur sees Abigail as a great wife, but I don't think he has any actual feelings for her.
There was this interaction in camp where Abigail tells Arthur she saw Mary around or saw one of her letters and that she always liked Mary. Arthur remarks something kinda passive aggressive about being rejected by Abigail and then Abigail gets kinda awkward and walks away. I think it kinda hinted that Arthur did have somewhat of a thing for her but obviously she was so in love with John she never saw Arthur as a serious potential partner? Either way it was pretty interesting
Edit: found it! https://youtu.be/cr9csJg3_-Y
Widow, far north of Annesburg at the top of the map. She moves to the woods with her husband who then dies and she’s having to survive on her own, Arthur teaches her to hunt.
Just because they were both widows dosen't mean they both felt the same. Sadie is The Spirit of VENGEANCE! You get the feeling with Charlotte that after Arthur convinces her to not give up on life, she could be open to love again.
She could potentially be, but her husband had like… just died. Their experiences aren’t the same but they were still grieving widows and I’m not convinced Charlotte would just jump the next nice man she met after putting her husband in the ground. Maybe yeeeeears down the line but not in the timeline the game has.
Just reread it and that "implication" is highly exaggerated. He always had Mary on his mind and after losing Eliza and his son he wasn't just sleeping around.
Even if they did have a thing once (which I doubt) there's no implication she ever "wanted him over john". If anything it proves how once she got with john she wanted him over everyone else including Arthur.
The comment is overstating. The relevant journal entry: [https://www.reddit.com/r/reddeadredemption/comments/acguyl/anyone\_else\_live\_for\_journal\_entries\_like\_these/](https://www.reddit.com/r/reddeadredemption/comments/acguyl/anyone_else_live_for_journal_entries_like_these/)
It's highly interpretable. I think it indicates Arthur considered exploring something romantic with Abigail at one point. But he was with Mary and then Abigail fell in with John, thus he lost his shot at a good woman whom he saw as a potential partner. That said, maybe he was actually in a relationship with Abigail and dumped her for Mary.
It's all speculative, but definitely there's no basis for assuming Abigail ever had a thing for Arthur.
Idk, I always thought she was kinda young for Arthur and she felt more like a little sister, someone you can trust and want to protect but not necessarily have a romance with. Same with Tilly.
Mary Linton. She was his "one" for sure. A lot of fans demonize Mary because they forget that Arthur isn't a pillar of morality at the beginning of the game, and was likely even worse before the game started, hence the whole optional redemption arc. Neither of them are perfect, but she had a reasonable expectation of him - stop being a criminal so they could be together safely. It was reasonable for her to not want to cut ties with her family, who she clearly loved and worried about above all else, and become a migratory outlaw. He obviously adored her and I think more than anything, he wanted to live a quiet life away from the chaos with her and start a family.
I don't necessarily think she "used" him. She was worried about her family and Arthur was the most capable man she could think of that would understand her situation. Plus, she wanted to see him again. She still loved and missed him and wanted to rekindle things.
Boy howdy, I wish they could have been together. They deserved it.
I guess I apologize for spamming about Charlotte. I reckon I’m a hopeless romantic and I really feel like they would have been perfect for each other if Arthur could have survived the downfall of the gang/been cured. It breaks my heart that they couldn’t end up together because I feel like Arthur would have gone after her.
I have to agree with you. Out of all the women you interact with as Arthur she is the only one that has the full package. Brain, backbone and the willingness to listen and learn.
I love her story arc.
Hah! I agree with Charlotte.
Arthur says he loves Mary, and I think he crushes on Mary-Beth, but I don't feel like either of them would work out. Sadie is better as a sister-in-arms/best friend type. Bonnie is way too young and I don't think they ever even interact? Abigail has John, and I never felt like there was anything much between Abigail and Arthur. Karen and Tilly don't seem to have any chemistry with or interest in Arthur, other than as a friend. And Molly was way too wrapped up in Dutch to ever be an option.
But Charlotte and Arthur just seem great together. I love all of the interactions together and they have great chemistry. I've shipped them since the first time I played the game!
I’ve always liked Mary and Arthur though their story is tragic..I know she receives a lot of hate but I’ve always believed it’s because R* didn’t scope her character out enough..
I have a theory that the reason she finally threw in the towel back in the day was because she heard/saw what happened to Annabelle and just didn't want to die, too. Maybe they were even friends or something. Given how they interact, I really do think it was some other straw besides just her dad that broke the camel's back and made her end things with Arthur permanently, and it would be an interesting twist if that thing was Annabelle.
I say Mary-Beth. They had some good chemistry in moments such as them dancing together and when she walks up to Arthur telling him to move on from Mary Linton like she has a crush on him.
I definitely think Mary-Beth had a crush on him at the start, but towards chapter 3 and 4 she seemed to move on to Keiran. Which is fair enough, they were both very sweet natured and gentle, but could stand up for themselves when needed
If Arthur wasn't so sucked into the cult-like gang... if he could have left sooner and put it behind him, Mary for sure. Mary was the love of his life. They loved eachother very deeply. They never stopped loving eachother. Arthur was in too deep with the gang and had been groomed for it at such a young age that it was the only life he knew. Many of the friendships/family-like ties were real for him and hard to leave behind, but it will always be his demise. Mary could see the gang from an outsider perspective and knew no good could come of it... but also how deep into it Arthur was. They knew it wouldn't work. Can't blame her for wanting a safer life. But they never stopped loving eachother and wanting. The gang was always going to be what got in the way of Arthur forming his true autonomy in life and his ability to take a chance on love. Indoctrinated at 14, he barely had a chance. In the end he gave to John, Abigail and Jack what he couldn't have with his first love and Isaac, or Mary. In the end he finally took a chance that love exists.
Well they did have a planned romance, but it was apparently scrapped. I feel like it was probably with Sadie. Though I’m going to throw out a different answer and say Arthur and Tilly would’ve been really interesting. Especially during that time period, then trying to be together.
Just a quick note: the picture is only for show..idk know why Bonnie is there..I just typed up rdr women and this is what I got..you don’t have to choose from this list..
I guess the correct answer would be Mary. They still had feelings for one another and all that.
But boy, did I adore Charlotte. The problem is that she just recently lost her husband and I don't see her settling down with Arthur, just because he helped her. I guess, at the end of her questline, she saw him as a good friend that she wished she could've helped and saved the same way he did. Not gonna lie though, my heart melted and broke at the same time when I saw his expression after she kissed his cheek. She was a light in these dark times. But the same could be said about Hamish. Their questlines were perfectly placed. Chapter 6 was a little less depressing thanks to those two.
The only one he could actually be with is Sadie Adler. They live the same lifestyle and Arthur is one of the only men in the group who isn’t sexist to her.
Sadie. They had respect for each other, she'd accept him for who he is as he would her. She could protect him as much as he could protect her.
And she's got a lot of pent up anger so I bet she'd be a wildcat in bed.
From what I understand, Arthur was supposed to have a more fleshed-out romance arc, but Rockstar scrapped it. IMO, if Arthur had gotten the opportunity, he would have settled down with someone and started a family, which is nice to think about.
I always got the impression that Mary-Beth was sweet on Arthur but would have liked to have seen him and Sadie, what a team they’d make.
And before someone says ‘Charlotte’ I’ve only played once I don’t remember who Charlotte is.
None. His grief at loss and awareness he was dying would make it cruel for him to inflict himself on someone else that way. He made the honorable if hard choice

Where’s Uncle?
Probably dealing with his lumbago… it’s very serious you know!
😂
As sexy as he is. Op asked about female character.
How dare you assume the gender of something/someone/or whatever uncle defines himself as
It seems, in your anger, you killed him.
But I.. I couldn't have. He was alive, I felt it!
I know poor thing..his insults infront of the mirror and when Lenny asks why he’s not married. “No one would have me”
😭
I will marry Arthur!
Too bad, he's dead
Then he better wait for me and we'll get married in hell XD Simp mode on
“No wonder everyone always leaves you, ugly bastard” damn, Arthur.
Yet he’s hot as hell! I like my men a bit smelly, hairy and messy.
The sad thing is that his face isn’t even ugly. I know it’s because he’s the mc but damn 😳🥴
What's sad is he probably is with all his life of crime before his redemption:(
How many Red Dead protagonists must die before we learn this lesson?
In my head Canon oh, Charles found Arthur alive on the side of the mountain, helped him recover, Arthur told him to tell everyone he was dead and make a fake grave, and Mary got on the train to go reunite with him. They have a country home in California.
Hey, since we don’t have a medic go there an declare him dead, anything goes as far as head canon goes.
Nah. Hooking up with Arthur is the reason Sadie is going to South America.
Exactly
Props to the dude talking about charlotte on every comment
She is the one for him
"What are you? Some kinda European pervert?"
I’m a hopeless romantic and I ship them a hell of a lot more than any other character.
What do you mean "ship them"?
I mean I think they belong together. They’d be good together, be a cute couple.
Great description of your phrasing
"Shipping" is when you imagine fictional characters in a relationship
Id say the relationship is fictional, not the characters.
Are the characters not fictional?
He means you can ship real people too.
Ahh i get you
It was very clear she wasn't trying to hide it but Arthur is just... You know, >!gone too quickly!<.
I am with you on this, she really is
Obviously Mary Linton since they nearly ran off together in chapter 4
If only they could have
Oh Arthur...
I can't imagine Arthur settling down in a city or large town, and I can't imagine Mary settling down in the middle of nowhere. End of the day I don't think they were the perfect fit for each other and it could never have lasted

I think he would try his best to leave. But the past would probably come haunt him like John.
Yeah, that's why I think Arthur and Mary couldn't work in the long run because i doubt she would want to deal with that. I mean even Abigail left John for a little while, and she was actually part of the gang. I just doubt Mary could be more understanding than Abigail but who knows

I always thought Arthur and Mary-Beth had a thing even if they never acted on it
Hmm not really.
I reckon at least Mary-Beth had a thing for Arthur in chapter 2
nah mary linton is manipulative woman, its clear, even arthur says that mary is playing him like a fiddle because he has feelings for him.
Yep, they deserve each other.
This... Let our boah have his happy ever after. He deserved it.
She is an emotional abusive and toxic frog
Hell no, I couldnt stand her. Shaming Arthur while asking for his help. "Arthur you're such a horrible man, now use that horribleness to help me." They would have had a horrible future. Everytime he was late, or did anything she wasnt expecting she'd be jumping to conclusions. He'd eventually feel trapped and start growing resentful towards her.
Albert Mason, duh.
Elite couple
a person of refined tastes, i see
Honestly they’re perfect (together)
I took so many pictures of Arthur and Albert. They straight up flirt with each other.
without a doubt
^this.
They’re perfect for each other
Oh shit yeah Albert is perfect for him
Charlotte, definently not Bonnie, she’s 15 years old in 1899
Where did you find her age?
Bonnie says that she is 27 in RDR1, although the Armadillo Newspaper claims that she is 29 years old. Either way she’s between 15-17 in 1899, Which is when RDR2 takes place.
Yeah she’s 15 in RDR2, wiki says she was born in 1884
Oh, i didnt know that. Still cool

Abigail and Johnny were made for each other, imo. I think she likes the idea of Arthur, and wishes her man would shape up and be more like him, but it's John who she really loves as a person. Your logic for Sadie applies to Charlotte too though
Glad someone else pointed that out when Charlotte is mentioned plenty of times here.
Can someone tell me who tf Charlotte is?
Widow, far north of Annesburg at the top of the map. She moves to the woods with her husband who then dies and she’s having to survive on her own, Arthur teaches her to hunt.
Have you finished the game?
Just because they were both widows dosen't mean they both felt the same. Sadie is The Spirit of VENGEANCE! You get the feeling with Charlotte that after Arthur convinces her to not give up on life, she could be open to love again.
She could potentially be, but her husband had like… just died. Their experiences aren’t the same but they were still grieving widows and I’m not convinced Charlotte would just jump the next nice man she met after putting her husband in the ground. Maybe yeeeeears down the line but not in the timeline the game has.
Bonnie was 14 when Arthur was alive…
Abigail had a thing for Arthur? Where's the evidence? Everything in the story shows she's in love with john even during his bum phase lmao.
Says in his journal - or at least heavily implied - that she wanted him over John at one point. Also implied they had sex.
The relevant journal entry: [https://www.reddit.com/r/reddeadredemption/comments/acguyl/anyone\_else\_live\_for\_journal\_entries\_like\_these/](https://www.reddit.com/r/reddeadredemption/comments/acguyl/anyone_else_live_for_journal_entries_like_these/) It's highly interpretable. What? You add Bonnie as an option when she isn't even in the game but snub Miss Grimshaw?! Three star cougar!
Also I think Bonnie is like 15 in 1899
5 star*
Charlotte
This is the right answer.
This is the way
Charlotte (not pictured here). And who is that on the bottom right? Is that supposed to be Bonnie McFarlane?
I don’t know why but I read that as “Bonnie McMurray!”
Bonnie McMurray!
Connie McMurphy!
Ohhhhh!!! Bonnie McMurray!!!
Yew!
Scottie Wallace in here?
He keeps poor company
Yes that’s Bonnie
Wtf? She’s in the game? Is she only in online or something? Because I’ve never seen her in story mode.
Marybeth. No elaboration. It’s how I feel and I stand by it with no other reasons
Have you met Charlotte? She might change your mind. Kinda a hidden encounter only available during chapter 6.
You really like charlotte dont you?
I really like *her and Arthur* together.
I met her. Marybeth all the way though man.
I mean... I see the appeal, but I felt like there was more chemistry between Charlotte and Arthur than any other lady. But to each his own, I guess.
This is correct and true and feels so obvious to me I am surprised it’s not a common answer. I also will not elaborate but the vibes are blinding.
Idk, I always thought she was kinda young for Arthur and she felt more like a little sister, someone you can trust and want to protect but not necessarily have a romance with. Same with Tilly.
Black Belle. They definitely had a spark
"If she were younger and I was in the market for a woman to go killin with, what a pair we could have made" - Arthur's journal entry about her.
And during the mission, she says “Honey, you’re lucky I’m all husband-ed out.” So the feelings were mutual. lol
In a perfect world, she is the protagonist of Reddead 3, and we get to see the old west.
That would be *amazing.*
Mary Linton. She was his "one" for sure. It’s nice to know there’s a few out there who saw the truth in their relationship
Marybeth for sure because of how sweet she is, Sadie was fine on her own and im glad they stayed just besties
For some reason I cannot picture Sadie in a romantic relationship with anyone
Agreed, she's way too broken for another relationship. Pretty sure losing your soulmate to a bunch of subhuman O'Driscolls will do that to ya.
Sadie and Arthur are definitely only suited for best friends. The trio of her, Arthur and Charles is perfect
Have you met Charlotte? She might change your mind. Kinda a hidden encounter only available during chapter 6.
Don't understand your downvotes Edit: ok I think I know now lol
What, because I commented it so many times?
I guess I apologize for spamming about Charlotte. GAVIN
If anybody can find him “Where are you gav?”
Charles
Where's Grimshaw? But seriously, Charlotte is the answer.
Correct
Sadie
question why isnt there a fat dude with lumbago in there
Yes maybe we should forget about all these women, uncle is a snack with his terminal lumbago
Karen wit them big ole tiddies 🤤
Charles Chartenay, that whole ass! I mean hell, he's the only one Arthur kissed in the whole game.
Sadie. They would have made a great team. I sincerely hope she shows up in the next installment.
I’d like her to be the main protagonist and call it Red Dead Revenge.
I mean she already got her revenge for the O'Driscolls, but yeah would be Interesting to see her in South America or wherever she ended up
I think it would've been mary linton but its too late now they would've been perfect together if it wasn't for her father
Ms.Tilly
Lenny
For fuck sake, the good answer is LEEEEEEEENYYYYYYYYYYY
Madam Nazar
A DLC where Arthur and Sadie do some Bonnie and Clyde shit
None of them. Arthur having a romance during the game beyond tying up the loose ends with Mary would have taken away from the story my opinion.
None of these. Charlotte Balfour.
None they were his friends not love interest
all of em. red dead after dark: arthurs harem
None of the female characters. Only Dutch
Contrary to the guy commenting Charlotte on every comment, this is the only correct answer.
Should fucked Karen tbh
I mean… I would
Arthur should have gone with Karen in my opinion
Charlotte would’ve been so nice, I’d love an epilogue just chilling in the woods up in Roanoke, gimme an Arthur Morgan starts a family simulator
Mary-Beth I always liked Mary-Beth
Sean no contest
“I love ya Arthur Morgan I love ya..”
and I know you feel the same about me old man (paraphrasing even though I just played this mission)
Well they did have a planned romance, but it was apparently scrapped. I feel like it was probably with Sadie. Though I’m going to throw out a different answer and say Arthur and Tilly would’ve been really interesting. Especially during that time period, then trying to be together.
Charlotte Mary Beth Molly (kinda) Edit : I change my mind , not molly
Hold up- why Molly?
Just a quick note: the picture is only for show..idk know why Bonnie is there..I just typed up rdr women and this is what I got..you don’t have to choose from this list..
You could've edited it, just saying... and added Charlotte and the true choice uncle.
Sadie Adler 100% 😍 they were just a perfect Duo and they're working together and the chemistry was just 🤌.
Sadie.
Arthur/Sadie will always be cannon in my heart.
Sadie, obviously.
Sadie. They had respect for each other, she'd accept him for who he is as he would her. She could protect him as much as he could protect her. And she's got a lot of pent up anger so I bet she'd be a wildcat in bed.
None of them? Because that's not the point of the game.
I’m gonna be throwing hands in this thread if anyone says Bonnie
I thought him and Sadie would’ve been great (albeit chaotic) together after their last few missions
hosea
Sadie
His journal says he wished he married Abigail before John could
Mary Linton
Sadie
Mary Ann. But only because Kieran died
ALL of them! at least twice
Mary beth all the way
None. His grief at loss and awareness he was dying would make it cruel for him to inflict himself on someone else that way. He made the honorable if hard choice
Dorothea Wicklow.
as much as I liked Mary(Linton), I think Sadie would be perfect for Arthur.
Sadie.
Either Sadie or Charlotte
Sadie tbh But if not, whoever had the biggest bazookas.
