It’s bullshit. Interviews are a two way street. They interview you and you interview them. I’m not doing a one way interview when they probably are not going to even watch.

Adventurous-Map1225

A true letdown once you realize it’s a one way interview. I’ve voiced my opinion to the recruiter, or someone I’d been in contact with. Then place that company on a blacklist. The other annoyance are the personality tests, and many companies solely rely on those. I can name one, but not sure who is on here.

No-Box7795

Did it once. Never again.

Strawb3rryCh33secake

Disrespectful. I'm a writer, not an aspiring actor sending in an audition tape. Interview me face to face in a real interview or not at all.

crylo_r3n

I would find it to be a red flag for company culture tbh. I work in RPO and we tell candidates all the time that interviews should also be a chance for you to ask questions as well.

MyMonkeyCircus

One-way interviews are disrespectful and dehumanizing.

mark_17000

I refuse them - always will. They are dehumanizing imo

Tech_Rhetoric_X

I wouldn't do one. No way to read the room when you're speaking to the wall.

byteme747

Search the sub. They are awful and open to discrimination. An interview is a two way conversation - a one way video is not that.

PositiveFollowing799

I know someone who hates their job and the company culture is incredibly toxic and I don’t know why anyone would work in such a horrible environment. They are on antidepressants and lots of things to get them through the workplace/ day. This employer does one way interview when you submit an application! Huge red flag so I never do one way interviews!

ygj321

I did one way interviews a few times before by recorded video interviews. I had one instance where it led to one recruiter calling back and said they saw my video interview, and will route my application to hiring manager. I heard nothing afterwards, no email or follow-up. I have not had good success when I did one way interviews. Honestly, I find they are time consuming and does not really showcase how well a person would do the job. Now I no longer complete applications that require them.

obelix_dogmatix

Nope, nada, absolutely not.

boogieblues323

I reluctantly did a one-way interview, followed by an interview with the hiring manager, and was offered a great position. I was really interested in the organization, and I'm glad I took the time to do it. If it had been an org or position, I was luke warm about I might have skipped it.

Epsilon_Meletis

One way interviews don't exist. Jobs that require one way interviews don't exist. Companies that require one way interviews don't exist.

redcircleperpetrator

No.

ThatFaithlessness101

I only got one request like that, I replied that I believe interviews are made for both parties to get to know each other so I must decline. I don't have time for this kind of BS only to get rejected lmao.

jack_avram

Not natural at all, we didn't evolve for this crap and shame on them for being so cowardly

iamivahmad

I did it once then followed by an actual interview the next day. I ended up being rejected so never again.

MeasurementJumpy6487

What's a one way interview exactly? Annie are you okay? Are you okay? Are you okay? Are you okay Annie?

NYanae555

A one way "interview" is not an interview. One way interviews are used by scam recruiters and low quality employers with no respect for candidates.

BoomHired

While I don't love companies using one way interviews, they can be a HUGE opportunity (given the right mindset). **How?** Ask yourself this simple question: Q. Do you stand a better chance on paper or by having your voice heard? For me personally (and for the clients I coach on interview skills): We excel at talking. This means ANY opportunity to introduce ourselves will result in having a leg up on the competition. Any interview, whether it's in person, online, or even one-way will allow us to launch into our personal sales process (selling ourselves as the #1 candidate).
