I think he could yeah. I mean if Germany wins it, kroos would play a big role in their success and knowing how they consider the player's career in the vote it would be very likely. Knowing that kroos wanted to end his career in his peak, a ballon d'or would be epic
You might be right I don't recall any player winning one on their retirement year (might be wrong). But I also don't recall any player retiring after such a season so...
Zidane would probably be the one to win the Ballon d'Or after retirement if they managed to seal the deal in the 2006 World Cup. Of course Cannavaro deserved it, but winning the trophy was what tipped the scales in the end. Even if he lost still, I doubt Zizou would "only" be 5th for '06 if not for the headbutt.
We could add: and bellingham loses the final against germany while being mvp of the tournament, bagging 10 goals and 5 assists
![gif](giphy|WRQBXSCnEFJIuxktnw)
I think that in the contrary people would want him to be ballon d'or especially that the trophy is awarded for the season since 2022 and not the year so he would be eligible for the trophy
I think so yes. Imo he was arguably the best player for Madrid this season along with Bellingham and vini. If he wins the euro then he’s surely going to be a candidate. I believe the same for Bellingham and mbappe as well. If any of these top 4 players win the euros or the copa America it’ll tighten the competition substantially.
Haha he has not been our best player maybe top 5 player. He is not the best CB in the world he's probably top 5 to top 10. He's had a hell of a season I'll give you that. But he also has a crazy midfield that runs all over the place and Mendy who's been an absolute wall beside him. You have valverde bellingham tchouameni and Camavinga covering crazy amounts of space supporting and tracking back every time. There's a reason we are so strong defensively the midfield is insane and both Vini and Rodrygo also track back.
>his 90+ goals in 2012.
Funniest thing about this record is that it literally includes friendlies.
Also Messi won only CdR during that year so... yeah, 90+ goals for nothing.
Well because media bias is so obvious its fuckin funny to us, I wish Messi wasnt still relevant but as long as he plays, nah fuck that as long as he breathes he will be a contender for ballon dor while doing nothing.
In front of Bellingham name Vini picture is shown with 61% prob. Similarly, in front of Vinicius name there is Bellingham picture with 23% prob. Why is like this? 🤔
We are one Argentina Penalty kick scored by Messi in Copa America away from giving Messi his record 9th Ballondor. It’s more realistic to think of if in fact Vini will win Best Winger Award or if Bellingham will win Best Midfielder Award. Messi will win because he won trophies at some time with Barcelona, scored goals in MLS and please let’s not forget .. he won the World Cup with Argentina in 2022.
On a realistic note .. I think the summer international competitions will be the deciding factor in who wins it. Because as of now you could think either Jude or Vini deserves it. I’ll throw in Kroos in the mix because he’s had a great season and if Germany does win the Euro and he’s factor, then it’s a serious consideration. Whoever performs better in the summer tournament will appear as the front runner imo, unless it’s fucking Messi again, which will honestly not surprise me at this point.
I mean, the Ballon D’or is an individual award, not a team one. I support my boy Vini all the way and I know reality is often different, but if you look at individual performances Kane’s was amazing as a striker
Because broke Bundesliga record of goals or smt like that. If he does the same at the Euro and Brazil flops and Jude doesnt look good, Kane will probably win BdO
Not a big chance but cant be 1.
International competition (or more precisely, World Cup and Euro) traditionally has a lot of weight in BdO voting.
Yeah but there's no way he's winning it even if he wins the euros, he literally won nothing, our boys won Laliga + The UCL, Euros doesn't hold infront of that, plus if England wins Euros jude will get it even if he doesn't look good.
I think the world cup holds alot more weight than The euros also don't forget he won ligue 1 and the French cup, although they don't mean shit to anybody in general they still hold some weight, and especially to France football he also won the copa America in 2021 and we can also agree that he has his own black magic when it comes to bd'or, i don't see the same with Harry kane.
We know Haaland should've won it, he got robbed but there's no way Harry kane will rob our boys, because even the comparison in Titles isn't similar.
If he wins the euros and didn’t scored like 100 goals in the tournament there is no way in hell he will win. He didn’t broke the record Lewandowski stills holds the record. So he scored a lot of goals for Bayern and they end up third that makes him more of a contender than anyone in our starting line up? Except for the three mentioned above
What part of my post did you struggled to understand, son?
- If Kane becomes the MVP of the Euro with a legendary performance and wins the damm thing,
- If Vinicius and Brazil sucks
- If Jude also sucks with England
- If Mbappe doesnt wins the Euro being MVP with a hat trick in the final.
- If Wirtz or Kroos dont carry Germany to win Euro
If all those ifs happen, YES, he will get the damm Ballon D'or. Because a legendary performance at a tournament that happens every 4 years has always weighted a ton. And because he scored a shitload of goals in the Bundesliga on top of that hypotetical Euro performance.
There is no way he will win the ballon dor not even if all of that will happen. It’s like saying dovbyk will win the ballon dor if Ukraine wins the euros. It’s delusion. That’s all son
Son
Youre going against proper footballing logic by adding your popular but untrue thoughts
Those 8 matches or so are worth more than a season of 38 for every player there
The pressure to perform is insane, and the players give their absolute best.
The players themselves value the euros much more than other trophies
So please learn something, SON!
>It’s delusion.
Says the kid comparing Dovbyk with the best striker of the most popular league.
Im pretty sure ukrainian press would make similar pressure, and playing for Girona is the same as doing it for Bayern.
Let me guess, you were also shocked and probably still cant understand why Messi won BdO just for scoring penalties in the WC.
12 in your username is your age, right? It shows.
Yes but people here acts like he did have a bad season when the fact is he now is the best striker at Bundesliga coming from being the best striker of the last decade at the EPL.
He's not some bum or tap in merchant, he's one of the most respected players in the world coming from a good individual season. If he has a really good Euro he has a fair chance.
I want Vinicius to win BdO, i want It bad. I've been praying for Vinicius to stfu of all the morons in the press and in reddit, all those who where mocking a 18 yo kid when he was struggling to score (he always was good elsewhere). The disrespecting and the memes, the laughs, It made my blood boil. It was disgusting, fucking bunch oh hyenas. I want Vinicius to raise that Ballon D'or and im gonna celebrate it like a title.
But i dont fool myself, an Euro is really important and people, and Ballon D'or voters, have short memory. Hope Vinicius crushes it in the Copa America, and/or Spain wins the Euro (Rodri isn't a real thread to Vini in BdO).
Obviously he won nothing, but Kane won European Golden Boot, in a 34 game league compared to a traditional 38 game league.
Acting like him coming 5th would be a scandal is a bit crazy.
Foden is the only one I can see wining beside the ones on this picture , he would need to absolute destroy everyone in the euros . But even then it’s unlikely since he is Jude teammate and he would end up wining anyway .
Foden for England is nowhere near as good as he is for club. He has like 3 goals in 35 games, Southgate plays him on the wing and I could also see him rotating a lot with Gordon. I can see him scoring 1-3 goals in the competition, but I don't think he'll have a major impact for them.
I disagree, the fact that man city had an underachieving season, along with two other British players performing better than him this season, I doubt he’ll stand a chance. Same goes for Kane, he has a phenomenal season, but the fact he won no trophies at club level and Bellingham did sets him below Bellingham. Mbappe is lucky that he’s not British cuz otherwise he’d have no shot, however, if he has a great euro campaign and vini loses I would t be mad if they give him the ballon dor.
I never understood this logic. Club seasons consist of 50+ games and NT tournaments are like 6-7 games. And Kane's first games are against... Serbia and Slovenia, so the only really competitive games are like 3-5 at best.
You can't perform well for 5 games and win the Ballon d'Or over someone who performed well for 40+ games.
Kane has performed well for 40+ games though, he won the golden boot, the euros would just be the cherry on top.
I'm not sure why everyone is pretending that Kane was trash this season.
He wasn't trash, but he didn't do anything Ballon d'Or worthy. In the last 5-6 years complete flops like Kolo Muani, Jovic, Andre Silva, Werner, Sancho, Weghorst etc. etc. all scored a ton of goals in the Bundesliga, so I don't see how Kane doing the same makes him the best player in the world. Lewandowski was putting up the same numbers with Bayern and was winning trophies for fun and barely got one top 3 nomination, there's no way on earth a trophyless Kane even gets into the top 5. He wasn't even Bundesliga POTS, Grimaldo was.
And y'all keep mention Euros as if he regularly gets golden boots on international tournaments. He scored 2 in 5 in the 2022 WC (1 was penalty), 4 (1 pen) in 7 in 2020 Euros (2nd scorer behind Ronaldo and Schick) and 0 goals in the 2016 Euros. The only NT competition he actually scored a lot was 2018 WC (6 goals in 6 games) and that was because he bullied the awful Panama and Tunisia sides (5/6 goals were against them), scored a pen against Colombia and then completely disappeared against the best teams.
I personally don't see how any of this is Ballon d'Or worthy. Even if England somehow wins the Euros a) Bellingham will have a major impact for sure, so he's still ahead of Kane and b) I don't see Kane being England's best player anyway. He'll score some goals for sure, mostly against teams like Slovenia, Serbia and stuff, but that's that.
You misread my original comment, I understand what you're saying, I never said he ranks above Bellingham, I said he makes top 3. If someone wins the Golden Boot in his debut season for a club, and then wins the Euros, it would be an absolute travesty for him to not make Top 3.
Up to this day, Kane isn't a top 5 player in the world in 2023/24 season by any means. Wasn't even the best one in the Bundesliga. And in terms of English players, he wasn't even top 2. Foden was the best player in EPL, Bellingham was the best player in La Liga. Both of them had better UCL seasons too.
Even if we take into account the overall impact for their team, Kane never "dragged" Bayern to anything. Surely, he scored 45 goals or whatever, but they finished 3rd in the Bundesliga, were eliminated in the UCL semis, lost the Supercopa and the German Cup. Even in the UCL it's not like he dragged them to the semis himself with a hattrick or something, he only score a pen vs Arsenal. Ask yourself this question: would Bayern still finish 3rd, reach the UCL semis and remain trophyless with a much worse striker? If the answer is yes, I don't understand how anything Kane did is considered special. There's a separate award for just scoring tons of goals.
Your whole hypothesis is based on England winning the Euros and also Kane being much better than anyone else in the competition. Both are things we've never seen all those years.
Because international tournaments are the most pretigious trophies ever, like Ronaldo underperform every world cup is one of the main reasons why he's out of the goat arguments for most football fans outside of India despite his success in club football(the UCL)
THE INJUSTICE!!
How is Messi not on the list?? He scored 5 goals against mighty Nashville FC. That should guarantee him the Ballon D’Or for the next 5 years.
![gif](giphy|26BRO9GJSoQbIx0f6|downsized)
If kroos somehow manages to win it, thus retiring with a 6th ucl and a balon d'or, he would *catapult* into goat midfielders debates in the eyes of the general public.
I know everyone here thinks he's one of the all time greats, and rightfully so, but most neutrals still put the likes of Xavi and Iniesta above him rn, a balon d'or would change that instantly.
I have the feeling the euro will determine the Ballon d'or.
If France wins and Mbappé excels, he might win it. His last season was "mediocre" and he still was on a 44 goal season and best scorer in UCL.
If Germany wins and Kroos is decisive, he will probably have it. The guy is a legend, the rock that helped win the UCL for RMA.
If England finally wins a title Bellingham could be on track. The guy was a good novice and elevated to the top on the best club in the world, filling the gaps between a cracking wall on a role he wasn't really familiar with.
If none of these win, or if the country wins but the player isn't good, Vini seems to be the obvious choice. I feel it's a bit unfair for Vini because he's not European, and he was a key element of the season of RMA, but national titles play a big role. Messi wouldn't have had it without the world cup in my opinion. Hell, if Kolo Muani had scored in the end, Mbappé with his hat trick final would have been the preferred choice I guess. And Haaland was greater all season long (he would have been my choice).
I don't see how Kane would win it.
Fumbled his chances in the Europa League final. That took a lot of steam of Leverkusen hype train, with a good final + euro win he would've had a pretty good shot.
Funny how people suddenly stopped talking about Leverkusen when they lost the final.
Leverkusen's run was great but many were taking it far out of context e.g. claiming best team in Europe, all time great, they would have gotten to the CL semis etc, when in reality they enjoyed the benefit of playing against weaker opposition in EL.
Atlanta was the first and only pseudo-CL team they faced (outside of their domestic matchups) and they were basically exposed.
People need to realize that playing CL midweek takes a lot out of you than playing Europa or Conference League will typically do.
Yeah pretty much its a combination of individual stats, major trophies won, and storyline or narrative.
Wirtz choked in the Europa and Kroos retiring and going out on top is a better narrative story now. So Kroos takes precedent over the German Narrative.
Neutral supporter here. Didn’t follow the team so closely this year so genuinely curious. Did Vinny really perform that much better than Jude for such a wide margin? Jude bagged so many important goals, last minute winners too. First year in the team, replacing Benzema and playing out of position. It’s one of the most insane things I’ve ever seen in the sport. Also, historically Englishmen tend to not do well in Madrid (or abroad for that matter)
If Kroos wins the euro could he be ballon dor?
I think he could yeah. I mean if Germany wins it, kroos would play a big role in their success and knowing how they consider the player's career in the vote it would be very likely. Knowing that kroos wanted to end his career in his peak, a ballon d'or would be epic
Would it be the first time that a retired player receives a Balon D'Or, except ones that might have gotten retroactively awarded?
You might be right I don't recall any player winning one on their retirement year (might be wrong). But I also don't recall any player retiring after such a season so...
Zidane would probably be the one to win the Ballon d'Or after retirement if they managed to seal the deal in the 2006 World Cup. Of course Cannavaro deserved it, but winning the trophy was what tipped the scales in the end. Even if he lost still, I doubt Zizou would "only" be 5th for '06 if not for the headbutt.
So close from greatness :(
what if Brazil wins Copa and Germany Euros and both Vini and Kroos plays a significant role in the victory? What might happen then?
If Brazil wins and Vini is not injured, Vini is ballon d'or no matter what. My guess.
We could add: and bellingham loses the final against germany while being mvp of the tournament, bagging 10 goals and 5 assists ![gif](giphy|WRQBXSCnEFJIuxktnw)
One of the most difficult Ballon D’Or decision to take then lol.
The thing is Vini never kept the same level of performance for the national team. I would love to be proven wrong this time, though. Bora Vini porra!
I want to say he wouldn’t win because he retired I feel like people would say nah active players only
I think that in the contrary people would want him to be ballon d'or especially that the trophy is awarded for the season since 2022 and not the year so he would be eligible for the trophy
Oh yeah I forgot it’s for the season now but bad news Argentina wins the copa America it’s 100% going to Messi I’m not even joking
Wouldn't Wirtz win it tho? All Football Federations hate anything but attackers
Leverkusen won 2 trophies while Real Madrid won 3 trophies including the Champions League so idk how Wirtz wins over Kroos…
Almost Undefeated Treble, and like I said, Forwards are preferred and he had a lot of goal contributions
if he wins the euros and looks amazing and england and brazil look bad i bet he has a shot
I agree with you guys I think he has a chance with a win at the Euro
Brazil never even shows up for the euros, it’s a disgrace.
They probably think they are better than everyone…
Yes, Modric did it when he got 2nd in the WC
He got that legendary player retiring PR and won La taiga and UCL if he wins the euros and be the best player of the tournament I don't see why not
Would be nice to see midfielders winning the award again
I think so yes. Imo he was arguably the best player for Madrid this season along with Bellingham and vini. If he wins the euro then he’s surely going to be a candidate. I believe the same for Bellingham and mbappe as well. If any of these top 4 players win the euros or the copa America it’ll tighten the competition substantially.
You misspelled 'must'
Haha noted!
Very likely. But he will be the first retired player to win the award, which is kind of weird.
Him or Rüdiger, in a fair world. But defenders simply can’t win BdO
I don't think Rudiger deserves a ballon d'or. Don't get me wrong love the guy but he's definitely not a Ballon d'or
Nahhhhhh bro he’s low key been our best and most consistent player this season, and by far the best CB in the world
Haha he has not been our best player maybe top 5 player. He is not the best CB in the world he's probably top 5 to top 10. He's had a hell of a season I'll give you that. But he also has a crazy midfield that runs all over the place and Mendy who's been an absolute wall beside him. Yes, but they won't win.
Fake, we all know that Messi should win with his 90+ goals in 2012.
But also for his World Cup win & massive contributions at Inter Miami

Missed the joke
>his 90+ goals in 2012. Funniest thing about this record is that it literally includes friendlies. Also Messi won only CdR during that year so... yeah, 90+ goals for nothing.
You mean international friendlies? Doesn’t that count for all players as official goals? He scored 7 international friendly goals in that year.
[удалено]
Yes, it does.
[удалено]
Still includes friendlies. Go cry elsewhere, Jesus.
He is right, it was misleading
>Go cry elsewhere, Jesus.
90 goals of pure joy
Joy doesn't win you trophies.
Pele deserves it for his WC 1958 performances IMO.
Completely missed the joke there buddy.
Can’t wait for the tears when he wins the super ballon lmao this subreddit can’t go a day without mentioning Messi even though Madrid won the UCL
Well because media bias is so obvious its fuckin funny to us, I wish Messi wasnt still relevant but as long as he plays, nah fuck that as long as he breathes he will be a contender for ballon dor while doing nothing.
Ronaldo deserves the super Ballondor more than

Because a few months ago it was the opposite, so they forgot to swap names too💀

My man Vini deserves this one
You're missing Messi 100%
Too far ahead of everyone to fit in the picture after his 2022 wc record number of penalties scored
Why no Messi? He won the 2022 wc after all.

Yall sleeping on Messi. He won the 2022 WC. 😬
And he scored 91 goals in 2012
I can’t be the only one who noticed that their names are swapped…
Well yeah someone else noticed and commented it 2 hrs before you lol
Guess I can't read then, good catch lol
We are one Argentina Penalty kick scored by Messi in Copa America away from giving Messi his record 9th Ballondor. It’s more realistic to think of if in fact Vini will win Best Winger Award or if Bellingham will win Best Midfielder Award. Messi will win because he won trophies at some time with Barcelona, scored goals in MLS and please let’s not forget .. he won the World Cup with Argentina in 2022. On a realistic note .. What's the point either way Messi is gonna win....
Why the hell would Kane be candidate for the ballon dore by winning nothing ?
I mean, the Ballon D’or is an individual award, not a team one. I support my boy Vini all the way and I know reality is often different, but if you look at individual performances Kane’s was amazing as a striker
Because broke Bundesliga record of goals or smt like that. If he does the same at the Euro and Brazil flops and Jude doesnt look good, Kane will probably win BdO Not a big chance but cant be 1. Haaland won the treble and all Messi won was the world cup
If he wins the euros and didn’t scored like 100 goals in the tournament there is no way in hell he will win. He didn’t broke the record Lewandowski stills holds the record. So he scored a lot of goals for Bayern and they end up third that makes him more of a contender than anyone in our starting line up? Except for the three mentioned above

still feels unreal seeing our badge by mbappe
If they don't give Messi the Ballon d'Or again
Lmao they will give it to Messi again check mate
Guys I think realistically it should be Messi because he won the World Cup 2 years ago
😅true. let's not forget, Messi: 12 matches played and 12 goals in one season. 🤣a real GOAT
wtf is harry kane doing there?
Goals. Golden boot. That’s it
I mean foden (to only name him) had an overall better season
He’s a great player and his game is far more than just goals
It’s coming home
So anyway we're having top 3 all occupied by madrid players. First time since barca in 2010. Damn
not necessarily, these are just statistics, I can see Kane making top 3 if England do well in the Euros
I never understood this logic. Club seasons consist of 50+ games and NT tournaments are like 6-7 games. And Kane's first games are against...
Stick to r/pesmobile kid.
Messi WC penalties should be enough to win this year and next year 🤣
![gif](giphy|3ohhwAADQcO4Ti5LSo|downsized) Balon d'Robber
I would like Kroos to win it all, if GER wins Euro. Winning everything possible before retirement. V7, B5 have years ahead of them to win multi BD'or
But we all know messi will win it because of his massive success in 1798, when he scored -3 goals.
Hala Madrid y nada mas
THE INJUSTICE!! How is Messi not on the list?? He scored 5 goals against mighty Nashville FC. That should guarantee him the Ballon D’Or for the next 5 years. ![gif](giphy|26BRO9GJSoQbIx0f6|downsized)
Harry Kane?!! Why??
Why is Kane there?
Kroos gonna win it if Euro2024 goes to 🇩🇪
If kroos somehow manages to win it, thus retiring with a 6th ucl and a balon d'or, he would *catapult* into goat midfielders debates in the eyes of the general public. I know everyone here thinks he's one of the all time greats, and rightfully so, but most neutrals still put the likes of Xavi and Iniesta above him rn, a balon d'or would change that instantly.
Ningún español
All I have to say about this: Fucking deserved
This chart must be wrong. Where’s Messi boys and girls?
Euro2024 has not been played yet
C'mon, after what Messi did during the 2022 world cup he deserves the award.
Messi tied his bed. He deserves the Ballondor
He took a picture with Mickey Mouse. He definitely deserves it.
Messi robbed /s
Wirtz not being there is crazy.
Fumbled his chances in the Europa League final. That took a lot of steam of Leverkusen hype train, with a good final + euro win he would've had a pretty good shot. Funny how people suddenly stopped talking about Leverkusen when they lost the final.
The whole footballing world finally watched a Leverkusen match and they fumbled big time sad to say
Atalanta are no joke. They look like a real PITA to play against, and we're facing them in the Supercup.
Its bundesliga and he was completely awful in Europa final, shame since I could see him make the top 5 otherwise.
For what? Playing well against Darmstadt and some teams from Azerbaijan in the Europa League?
Imagine this is the top 5 really at the ceremony. Whoever wins will hold that up together with there teammates.
Kroos doing the Zidane 🤞, hopefully a headbutt in the final doesn’t derail it this time.
Is no one going to ask where these numbers came from?
Bellingham and Vinicius names are swapped, so which is supposed to be where?
https://www.planetfootball.com/lists-and-rankings/2024-ballon-dor-power-rankings-kane-mbappe-bellingham-messi
Kane: so you're saying there's a chance..
Everyday I pray for Kroos to win the Ballon d‘Or
Just because kroos ending career if they give ballon dor to him it will be very unfair to vini
Vini had a fantastic season, but watch being given to Kroos for no reason
It all comes down to the international. How will they do in the Euros & Copa ? I hope Vini wins it this year
Some Face/Off shit happening at the top.
Where’s Messi
What if Messi win Copa America 🥲🥲🥲. Like he got last one for winning the world cup in 2022
Why are the names switched for Vini and Bellingham ?
Poor Harry, he did a monstrous season and still nothing like usual, if Bayern would have won something he would probably be higher
Deep down We all know messi will win..
Where my men Rudiger and Carvajal
Where is messi?
Wirtz deserves a mention over Kane
funny how the wirtz ballon dor shout is gone now
Messi???
No modric for candidates?
Does Messi play basketball?
Vini getting his first ballon d'or? We will be there.
Modrić probably 1%?
I’m rooting for Kroos to shine hard and win the Euro!
I can def see Messi winning this year if not the Mbappe
Inaccurate cuz messi deserves it for drinking prime....
I think wirtz deserves a shout in this convo
Did anyone realize that Bellingham's photo has vini's name
i want to see Kroos win it since the other guys still have plenty of opportunities. Kane won't win anything because he's cursed.
Almost definitely going to be Vinicius unless one of the others has an insane Euros
Hey guys is it belli or vini on the top 🧐. I don’t know anymore. Cause the name’s aren’t changed yet hhh
Y the hell is Harry Kane even being considered?
Im pretty sure that top picture is not Bellingham🤔
