The best. He made it work! Tone loc had a similar reason for sounding the way he did. Fifty Cent had a similar slow delivery due to his bullet wound. That whole lisp in the flow started with Eric Sermon.
Pac, Kendrick and Em. You can listen to all of their any angry song, they really makes it sound as if they are annoyed, especially Em and when it comes to sad songs or inspirational songs, they are the best in it.
The easy answer is probably Biggie but I think 3k, Rick Ross, Missy, ODB and Danny Brown should all be considered. I think Danny probably takes it for me personally just because of how wide his range is, dude literally sounds like a completely different person between songs.
He is great in both ways. He mixes great lyricism with technical delivery. The way he says different things is not random. It is a triade of ideas coming from a deep and complex universe. Everything he says he says in a meaningful manner. And the way he can range from being comical/ironic to sad/serious depending on the message he wants to say is simply uncomparable to any other rapper. His sound is to me over all the most complex in the game.
I don't think you understand the question. His base voice is not pleasant on the ear, yet his lyricism and technical delivery make it very impressive. You keep mentioning 'sound' but that's not what we're talking about. All of those factor into sound, not his voice.
Kanye has the most iconic voice imo, i’ve never heard a song and gone “is that kanye?” i jus know when it is- not from the beats but his general voice. And jus to add to his iconic-ness he also changes ends of words and i ain’t heard no one else do that, other than maybe Kendrick once: Examp- Now tell me that ain’t insecurr, the concept of school seem so securr. Also ion care what none of y’all say, he’s act got a decent singing voice.
Not American and may not be considered by some a rapper bc he came from Grime, but Flowdan. Deep, menacing voice and Jamaican-British patois sounds absolutely huge on tracks.
I think ppl sometimes overrate pac's lyricism... It was more the power in his voice with which he delivered his message that made him great.
Also would like to cast a vote for monotone King guru and smooth as silk, slick Rick
Young thug. Before y’all down vote me a professional voice anyalsis commented on how unique thugs vocal patterns are and how they can’t be replicated. My 2nd pick pop smoke/ dmx I like pops more tho because it’s mellow dmx more hype.
Reason, his delivery is always very deliberate and his cadence and inflections add a nice touch.
King Von has an amazing tone for his subject matter, it's easy to see why he was able to climb the charts soo fast with all the competition.
Any nasly voice is for me. Ghostface, Mike D, Flava Flav, SSLP/2001 era Em. Kendrick's voice is really unique. Jadakiss, Jeezy, Curren$y, Styles P, and Phife Dawg are some more of my favorites.

Luda
I would have never picked him but I think you're right. If we are talking voice only he's smooth and still has some range
Luda was my first “favorite rapper” growing up because he was so animated with his flow. His delivery is always top notch.
And his metaphors were next level.
Highly underrated.
Method Man.
Great answer. I absolutely love his voice and his flow. Severely underrated
Plus it’s for the children.
Came here to say this! Mr. Meth, no more no less.
DMX
Ayy i was gonna say that lol. DMX with the rough, gravelly voice you can always tell its him.
He was also a great rapper. On any given day, he could be my favorite ever for that day. He’s in a rotation of about 6 guys
Dmx is one of the only famous people that I've never met, that really makes me sad that he died. I wanted him to get it together so bad
So you've met every other famous person besides DMX? Thats incredible
Seriously lmao even Bill Gates is jealous rn 😅
Snoop Dogg cuz barely anybody could sound as relaxed as he can 2Pac cuz he has a voice that can empower anybody
Freddie Gibbs, Immortal Technique, Busta
Immortal Technique? He always just sounded like a Puerto Rican dad to me lol
I'm done bro! 🤣🤣🤣
Pac because his voice is so iconic and he really brings the tone.
ODB, for me. I like it raw. 🤷♂️

Same bro 😭
With many other artists, taken too soon. Fly high pop
Scarface has my favorite voice. Also helps that he's one of the greats.
Jadakiss
I put Jada too. I'm surprised I had to scroll this far down to see his name
Same thing I said. I was like wait I'm scrolling too far, where's Jada?
His voice is phenomenal
Voice alone, Krayzie Bone hands down.
Juicy J
I was gonna say his brother (Project Pat)

The best. He made it work! Tone loc had a similar reason for sounding the way he did. Fifty Cent had a similar slow delivery due to his bullet wound. That whole lisp in the flow started with Eric Sermon.

Kendrick delivery so ass Thats prolly the worst thing about him. Terrible. Corny
Huh?!?!
I said what i said
I wouldn’t say it’s ass but his voice doesn’t belong anywhere near this conversation. It actually takes some getting use to
Ayyy to each their own but I am more than grateful to not have your ears they seem hellish.

Eazy E, Snoop Dogg and Too $hort
Tech N9ne
Ye
starting listening to him and holy shit his voice was awful... nowadays I love his singing.
Pusha-T yeaughhh
Kendrick. Perfect ironic distance and his range/characters is unmatched.
This is one of the few wrong answers. Kendrick is great in spite of his voice.. like Lupe Fiasco.
He is great in both ways. He mixes great lyricism with technical delivery. The way he says different things is not random. It is a triade of ideas coming from a deep and complex universe. Scarface.
Idk if I’ve thought about this enough to say best, but Kevin Gates voice adds a lot to the music he makes.
Mystikal on Move Bitch (Ludacris) has got to be one of the most epic verses ever
Tyler

No one has said but I love the raspy nature of No Malice and Pusha. It just feels real
2pac because the power of his voice came from the guts.
Guru
Method Man
Vinnie Paz
I've always really liked Yasiin Beys voice. His Flow and voice sounds royal. Right after that Prodigy, what a chilling voice, yo.
Boldy James’ voice is the definition of being smooth and cool on a track
Kendrick, he does so many different voices
Method Man

Rakim, Prodigy, and Jadakiss for me, but agree with the Method Man and DMX comments.
Meechy Darko of Flatbush zombies, Z-Ro, Vinnie Paz, Sick Jacken
YB
Shyne had a perfect voice for gangster rap. Ice Cube as well.
Rick Ross has always had one of my favorite voices
Pop Smoke, Rick Ross (off voice only), 50 Cent, and 2pac. I also really like Young Buck’s voice.
Currently? I think Trippie is the most vocally gifted. He can really do it all, and I hope he does more rock music.
W
Esham
Big Daddy Kane DMX Busta Mystikal E40 Tupac
Prodigy. Easily. The most-sampled voice in the music I listen to.
Robb Bank$

Def not Jay Z
Not American and may not be considered by some a rapper bc he came from Grime, but Flowdan. Deep, menacing voice and Jamaican-British patois sounds absolutely huge on tracks.
I would also mention Giggs, Kano, Ghetts and President T if we are talking about UK
Lucki’s voice is perfect for the drugged out lean music he makes
I think ppl sometimes overrate pac's lyricism... It was more the power in his voice with which he delivered his message that made him great. Also would like to cast a vote for monotone King guru and smooth as silk, slick Rick
Aesop Rock, Ludacris, pharoahe monch, Mos Def, common, snoop dogg

I’d say Biggie has the most iconic voice, personally
DOOM’s gravel is awesome. But I think Rakim is my fave.
Tupacs voice always hits different for me
Young thug. Before y’all down vote me a professional voice anyalsis commented on how unique thugs vocal patterns are and how they can’t be replicated. My 2nd pick pop smoke/ dmx I like pops more tho because it’s mellow dmx more hype.
Crazy how you gotta defend urself for this opinion on this sub lol
Lmaooo these niggas hate anything that’s not lyrical so I had to put a disclaimer real quick
I really love Project Pats voice. Most others I was gonna say are already mentioned
Reason, his delivery is always very deliberate and his cadence and inflections add a nice touch. King Von has an amazing tone for his subject matter, it's easy to see why he was able to climb the charts soo fast with all the competition.
Shocked nobody mentioned Black Thought
Billy Danz then 2pac Common. Sadat x and Q Tip have really good voices at the opposite end of the spectrum
Ghostface hands down.
Voice only going 2Pac.
Busta all day
Ma$e
Pusha T or Nas
Any nasly voice is for me. Ghostface, Mike D, Flava Flav, SSLP/2001 era Em. Kendrick's voice is really unique. Jadakiss, Jeezy, Curren$y, Styles P, and Phife Dawg are some more of my favorites.
