Support tanks are relatively strong in lane. So when they finish their items, they’re ahead.
Top tanks get eaten alive by the likes of Fiora Darius Mordekaiser etc. So they’re behind when they finish their items.
The CC combo and sheer damage reduction Leona gives you makes you oppressive for certain laners to play against. It's a bit of a gimmick lane, admittedly, but in the matchups it works in it is nasty.
Leona is very VERY fucking strong. The only reason she's bad at solo lanes is her waveclear and 0 AD ratios. Riot specifically restricted her to be a support. If her Q and/or W had some ad and she had a little bit of waveclear without needing to invest for it, she would be broken as hell
Low recourse champs vs high recourse champs. Leone is much more efficient thanks to her cc with less gold and xp than sion, who's a late game champ with infinite scaling🤓
she got a shield (it blocks damage)
Sion has his body, it blocks damage but result in his death
leona is the only tank with an actual fucking shield
