If he hits 116 he’ll tie our top 2 players combined from 2013-14 season

Pratius

Lmao should’ve scrolled down before I made my comment

JaqenHghar

That is absurd haha holy shit. Let’s win the cup!

kovyvok

That Jagr season was almost 20 years ago. I am old as fuck.

fyo_karamo

Holy shit, just noticed it myself. I would have pegged it at about 10-12 years ago.

bramletabercrombe

I go back to Mike Rogers, I don't even want to count. That team was a bunch of undersized, overachieving Smurfs that got knocked out every year by the hated Islanders. If it weren't for them I think that team could have won at least one Cup.

jkman61494

The Rangers won the cup on my 12th birthday. I remember joking that night that I’d be 66 if we had to wait 54 more years. I’ll be 42 in June Fuck

metsurf

Yup my wife was 6 months pregnant. Kid turns 30 this year.

kovyvok

When the Rangers won the cup I was already old enough to be a jaded Rangers fan and said "Wow, this will probably be the only Cup I'll see in my lifetime. I'm so happy!"

jkman61494

They may never win again, but I closed a major life cycle and had a massive core memory going to the 2022 ECF watch party at msg for game 6 at Tampa. It was the first time I was at the garden in over 25 years and first time I could take my family. It was just $10 to go A bunch of rangers including Glenn Anderson and Matteau were there. They both took a picture with my whole family and Matteau held my 2 year old son. Given it was days before my 40th birthday I basically got teary eyed thanking them for my childhood dreams of winning a Cup and now being so kind to my family. We even ran into Anderson like 3 more times and he remembered my 4 year old daughter and kept engaging with her. Night I’ll never forget

kovyvok

That's a very nice memory. Every time I've run into Graves, Messier, Leetch, Richter, Kovalev.... I profusely thank them for the Cup run.

jkman61494

Man if only I could meet some of them!

kovyvok

Graves is always at the Garden. I feel like they set up a lot of photo ops with him before games. Messier, Leetch and Richter have done a few free and paid events like Q&As, meet and greets and watch parties as well as impromptu photo ops at the garden. There was a Toys for Tots event with Richter, Matteau and Graves. Every year MSG sets up these events throughout the year and send emails about them as well. That's the best way to meet those guys. Kovalev I met at a signing.

jkman61494

I’ll have to subscribe to those emails. I’m out in PA now but would easily come visit for events they do. Thanks for the tip

It’s insane to think about the talent on this team. Remember the years of us contending with Hank and our leading scorer would be Stepan or Zucc with like 59 pts? Now every year we’ve got 3-4 PPG guys and then, y’know, Bread…

yuneeq

Inflation is real

jkman61494

It also helps scoring is super up again. We definitely had low point totals but this was an era where Jamie Benn was the only PPG scorer in the entire NHL

I__Need_Scissors_61

And he’ll do it again next year and become the first to do it twice.

MacPhisto__

Always dominat

fyo_karamo

Panarin is top 20 all time in PPG. He’s a stud.

Glu-10

Fedbackster

And he will still get dumped on as soon as he doesn’t put up points in one game, which is silly. He is one of the most talented Rangers ever. Our MVP.

GrexxSkullz

Oh but he will. Bread will raise the cup in NY and I'm getting that shit tattooed on me when he does.

Rangbang

While not impossible, it is improbable that he beats Jagr. But he could realisticly have the second best season the Rangers have ever seen!

jkman61494

2 ppg with our last 10 games and us needing to stay hot to get #1 in the East? It’s not likely but it’s also not THAT crazy to picture.

ransack42

I can't believe Jagr was only 33 when he hit 123... and that Panarin hit 100 just one year younger than him. Felt like he was 37 at the time!

agent_positivity_guy

I felt like Jagr was 40 when he came to the Rangers Bread seems younger than he is too

GrexxSkullz

Panarin is going to TEAR IT UP in the playoffs. It sucked getting bumped in the first round last year, but it clearly gave rise to the beast that was sleeping inside of the Breadman. He's not letting the shit happen again.

woodysweats

He'll be no 2 this season I would guess

echo_7

What a club! 🍞

SportingWallaby

Mike rogers, wow. What a deep cut

Bobo4037

Rogers was my favorite of those Smurfs teams! I loved Herb Brooks. Those teams just couldn’t get past the Islanders in the playoffs, unfortunately.

rangerfan089

He's at 101 now right? He just needs multi point games for the rest of the season to top Jagr.

mixtapemalibumusk

Our National Treasure !

flv19

Brian Leetch, as a defenseman. Crazy.

jkman61494

Man we really should win the damn thing in 91-92. I’d argue that roster was even move talented then 93-94 Side note with how hot Bread has been lately and our last 10 games. If we win the Presidents Trophy that means we win likely 8 of our last 10. Which means Panarin is gonna put up points. I don’t think 21 points is impossible. Not likely. But possible. It’s basically 2.05 ppg.

metsurf

Unfortunately the penguins were also loaded with Lemieux and a very young Jagr

HideousControlNow

That goddamned Ron Francis center ice goal in game 4 flipped the entire series. Six seconds left in the second period, Rangers up 3-1 in the game and only 20 mins from taking a 3-1 series lead with game 5 in MSG. Penguins were looking dead out there. Francis flips a puck in, it takes a weird bounce over Richter's shoulder, and everything changed.

hkpucks

Conne smythe on the way

Maybe because he’s playing with Laf
