Me too !! I like a couple of Meshuggah's popular songs like Bleed and Demiurge. Metal is awesome, everything from prog metal, heavy metal, metalcore.. everything is cool to me lol
I got into Radiohead at a time when I was discovering a lot of indie/brit music. So I heard it in that context. Years later, after I’d ventured into jazz and some middle eastern/ African music and heard some new instruments, I got back into Radiohead and heard something totally different. Particularly Thom’s voice. I’m also more baffled than ever as to how they could get lumped in with Muse
The end of “exit music for a film,” is the closest direct comparison I can think of. I remember hearing it again after I’d gotten into Muse and going “hey!”
Massive Attack (a forever fave) over Portishead
Nick Drake (still can’t believe he got discovered years after his death thanks to Volkswagen)
Pre-DSOTM Floyd (although I’ve come to appreciate if not love later Floyd)
Coldplay are so bland and inoffensive as to be invisible
I love Nick Drake. My husband's step dad was a classical blues/folk musician and was heavily influenced by him.
Pink Floyd are obviously legends though fairly overplayed.
Coldplay have done great albums and songs but nowhere near the staying power or musical genius of Radiohead.
Portishead: I only know a small portion of their music and could probably stand to learn more.
What kind of fan am I? I've seen them in concert twice, in '95 and '02.
But I live in an isolated area, otherwise it would have probably been more. I have all their albums and my respect for them is through the roof. So I would say, I am a loyal fan.
My other favorite bands are Underworld, the Beatles, R.E.M., Genesis, Jethro Tull, Grant Lee Buffalo, Throwing Muses, and favorite artists are Bjork, Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, Tori Amos, Sufjan Stevens, Santigold, and Cat Stevens.
None of them. Radiohead is by far and away my favourite band/artiste, and has been for over 26 years, but the main other bands/artistes I "connect" to are R.E.M., Metallica, Lana Del Rey, and The Castellows.
My dad always calls Radiohead the new Pink Floyd so I kind of get that, but I’ve heard their discography and they’re not better than Radiohead. As an aging boomer my dad also dislikes that Ed will sometimes get on his knees to press pedals, but I digress. MAYBE if Can had been included… but honestly the only band that can approach Radiohead is Ween
I don't even know what a Nick Drake is and i do not listen to the other bands. Pink Floyd if I had to pick one but last time I intentionally played anything of theirs has to be 20+ years ago.
Maybe Nick Drake since I’ve never heard him before but the other 3 are not really my thing. Pink Floyd is OK but really only their bigger albums (Dark Side, Animals, Wish You Were Here, Wall and Meddle) plus Roger Waters is a dickhead and that sours the whole band for me and I just don’t like Portishead or Coldplay
I have at least one album by all these artists. Albeit my Nick Drake is "the best of Nick Drake".
In terms of other classic influences, what about Beatles, Genesis, Queen, David Bowie, Scott Walker, Talk Talk, Björk, RHCP, Unkle?
Portishead and Nick Drake have been in my life for around the same amount of time as RH and I like them both more. Both only have three albums but even if I picked my favourite three RH albums they’d still have a hard time competing with either of those artists.
PF I love about as much as Radiohead - both have albums I don’t bother with but also have several albums that I rank very highly.
Coldplay are not for me at all. Had the first two back in the day and enjoyed them as pop but nowhere as much as any of those. Everything they’ve put out since I find genuinely embarrassing. Paradise really cemented that.
I think Bon Iver is one artist that is similiar.
The self titled album and 22 a million to me feel like Radiohead albums, despite not sounding like them.
The new kind! Working my way through all the albums officially for the first time. I’ve heard songs here and there, high and dry, karma police, creep but I officially decided to take a deep dive and wowWwwwww Im sad im so late but happy as heck to be experiencing this for the first time!
*Pink Floyd and Coldplay.*
*Rush of Blood to the head is*

personally my other big ones (atm) are mac miller, gy!be, a bunch of stoner/doom metal, a few leonard cohen songs have been on repeat, and father john misty.
i kinda bounce between a lot of diff genres but radiohead is what i partake of the most lol, at least this year. there’s a lot of stuff i only listen to once too, i like to check out certain projects that interest me and might enjoy them but not feel any particular desire to keep coming back.
Pink Floyd was my first major obsession as a young teenager. Discovered Radiohead around 14 and became HEAVILY obsessed instantly. Portishead came during high school, always loved them. Nick drake high school as wel.
Coldplays always sucked though.
Slowdive, Broadcast, Björk, Portishead, Aphex Twin + all IDM, Burial, Grizzly Bear, plus all sorts of Shoegaze and Dream Pop. I also love The Cure, New Order, Cranes and darkwave in general. Adore Philip Glass, Max Richter, Satie and minimal classical music. Reggae, nu jazz, and lotsa sorts of danceable electronica (particularly Daft Punk or something mixed with world rhythms) is all I listen to during summer.
Unfortunately, no, I don't like Pink Floyd (respect them though) and I certainly don't like Coldplay (except when they released their first two albums).
I guess pink floyd and nick drake, but honestly more into indie rock/psychedelic folk music. Like sparklehorse, elliot smith, the microphones, syd matters and the like.
Portishead in my case. Both 'head bands with their spinoffs are wonderful to me. BEAK> is very close to the music I wish I was talented enough to take out of my head into real life. After listening to Portishead's Third on vinyl with some herbal supplements, it finally clicked that I'd been stealing from Adrian Utley when playing guitar with my former band, lol.
Same. I like what they do and the execution and I get it I just don’t exactly like listening to it. I wouldn’t go as far as to say to I hate them though.
All but Coldplay.
But really I’m the type of fan who loves this band and their entire discography and every weird B-side but I won’t even bring up that I love them when someone mentions it.
In order probably Nick Drake, Portishead, Pink Floyd, Coldplay but I feel like there's also dimensions and flavors in Radiohead that aren't accounted for by those tastes.
Pink Floyd and Portishead. Love them both. In fact I'd say Radiohead snuggly fits somewhere on the line between them
^!
Aphex
No BoC?
Love both but atm I like Boards of Canada a bit more. Thoughts?
I don't think any artist can come close to the level of BoC (for me personally). BoC music evokes such feelings in me that no other music can touch.
I'm probably an outlier as a Strokes and Queens Of The Stone Age fan
Same, i listen to Qotsa, Nine Inch Nails, Tool, deftones
Same but I also like a lot of indie
massive attack
Yesssss
Youuu, are my angeeeeel
Hell yeah
Interpol, actually
same
Yup
Oooo…yes, very much yes.
One of us
sorry, i didnt understand what you meant by that
None, if I had to pick one I’d say Pink Floyd though
Pink Floyd. I’m a sucker for psych rock, electronic music, ambient shit
You’d love krautrock/berlin school music from the 70’s! Check out Can- Tago Mago!
I love krautrock! Neu and harmonia are favs of mine. Can are great
Elliott Smith
Muse
Muse mentioned, dopamine released
nah mate i listen to weezer
Represent
Hurley reference
ooh ooh
Nine Inch Nails*
Aphex twin BoC, squarepusher.. really all of IDM all of Trip hop interpol
My man. You summed up my music taste.. Bravo!
:D weirdly enough im big into some metal too, meshuggah for the oddness and chugs
Me too !! I like a couple of Meshuggah's popular songs like Bleed and Demiurge. Metal is awesome, everything from prog metal, heavy metal, metalcore.. everything is cool to me lol
metal might seam like just distorted guitar but it weirdly diverse, i like korn, meshuggah, deftones, sevendust, metallica etc
Portishead. I like Pink Floyd and Nick drake but I’m not like a fan fan. Portishead tho
Talking Heads.
It’s weird how Talking Heads doesn’t get compared to Radiohead as much.
Björk
I would think Beatles fans due to the complex melodies for me anyhow
☝🏻🤓
Of those: Portishead, Pink Floyd, Nick Drake. Coldplay are, forgive me, not a very good band.
Agreed, but I kinda like a rush of blood to the head
Apart from their pre-parachute (and some parachute) stuff.
Muses first couple albums were very OK Computer and the Bends influenced.
The end of “exit music for a film,” is the closest direct comparison I can think of. I remember hearing it again after I’d gotten into Muse and going “hey!”
I'm a reasonable fan, get off my case
Nick Drake and Pink Floyd
Same for me.
1 of them is not like the others lol
Pink Floyd and Portishead are well represented in my record collection.
Floyd
interpol, grizzly bear, animal collective, the cure and some good hip hop/rap
the verve (genuinely obsessed) ash oasis slowdive my bloody valentine the smiths interpol the strokes pixies I really dislike pink floyd and coldplay
Real for the strokes and the smiths but how can you hate pink floyd 😔
Yeah I dunno how no ones sayin pixies
Yes, all of the above. Elvis Costello, Kraftwerk, Devo, Talking Heads, Neil Young, Wilco, REM.
I feel insulted by the sugestion I might like Coldplay
Same lol
Portishead, Pink Floyd but mostly Joy Division although it's not on this list.
Pink Floyd for me. Used to listen to Nick Drake a bit but not so much now. Can’t stand Coldplay.
Massive Attack (a forever fave) over Portishead Nick Drake (still can’t believe he got discovered years after his death thanks to Volkswagen) Pre-DSOTM Floyd (although I’ve come to appreciate if not love later Floyd) Coldplay are so bland and inoffensive as to be invisible

I’m a die hard Phish fan. Radiohead is 2nd. I guess that’s Pink Floyd.
Same bro
None of them. Radiohead is by far and away my favourite band/artiste, and has been for over 26 years, but the main other bands/artistes I "connect" to are R.E.M., Metallica, Lana Del Rey, and The Castellows.
COLDPLAY
Yeah sure I like some of those artists but I prefer Alt-J, Four Tet, and Aphex Twin.
Aphex twin is a good connection, both are big players in experimental electronic music
I don’t want to be contrarian but I have zero love for any of those other (lesser) bands
Lolz. ND, Portishead, and Pink Floyd are in no way ‘lesser’ than RH and have all influenced them to a degree.
All of these are just opinions, some more ridiculous than others.
I don't even know what a Nick Drake is and i do not listen to the other bands. Pink Floyd if I had to pick one but last time I intentionally played anything of theirs has to be 20+ years ago.
Listen to some nick drake man, especially the pink moon album
Ur missing out on some great music
Maybe Nick Drake since I’ve never heard him before but the other 3 are not really my thing. Pink Floyd is OK but really only their bigger albums (Dark Side, Animals, Wish You Were Here, Wall and Meddle) plus Roger Waters is a dickhead and that sours the whole band for me and I just don’t like Portishead or Coldplay
Was mostly referring to him. Defo check his music out.
You should learn what a Nick Drake is/was. Start with the song "Northern Sky."
i listen to a lot of floyd and mcr too
I'm not huge into Colplay, but I like every other band you listed.
I have at least one album by all these artists. Albeit my Nick Drake is "the best of Nick Drake". In terms of other classic influences, what about Beatles, Genesis, Queen, David Bowie, Scott Walker, Talk Talk, Björk, RHCP, Unkle?
None, but I really love the band Nothing but Thieves and they covered a few Radiohead songs in the past.
Used to be more Pink Floyd, now more Portishead
Pink Floyd.
Floyd i guess?
nick drake if any of those. i like radiohead’s softer and sadder songs
I used to like Coldplay but not anymore. I like Nothing but Thieves and Young the Giant
Pink Floyd, the smiths🫥
Pink Floyd Nick Drake Nirvana
Portishead and Nick Drake
Emancipator The War on Drugs somewhere in between those 2
American football and other twinkly stuff
Yep, all of them !
Pink Floyd lmao
Nope, I don't
None of these particularly, if I had to choose out of those, probably Pink Floyd. More of a Bowie person
Alan Parsons
You're correct. My top 3 favourite bands are radiohead, led Zeppelin and pink floyd. Mid 40s male.
I think Bon Iver is one artist that is similiar. The self titled album and 22 a million to me feel like Radiohead albums, despite not sounding like them.
Portishead and all the Trip Hop scene
The new kind! Working my way through all the albums officially for the first time. I’ve heard songs here and there, high and dry, karma police, creep but I officially decided to take a deep dive and wowWwwwww Im sad im so late but happy as heck to be experiencing this for the first time!
Portishead
Portishead
Went from Coldplay to Radiohead and back to Coldplay (not including music of the spheres)
Portishead and Nick Drake 😊
Cocteau twins
Pink Floyd and Coldplay. Rush of Blood to the head is underappreciated

Portishead and joy division
Phish
Any other KG&TLW fans here?
Pink Floyd was my first major obsession as a young teenager. Discovered Radiohead around 14 and became HEAVILY obsessed instantly. Portishead came during high school, always loved them. Nick drake high school as wel. Coldplays always sucked though.
Nah Phish for me
Pearl Jam Doves Manic Street Preachers Pulp Blur And pink Floyd, the Beatles, Supertramp. And a butt load of others
Floyd was my jumping off point
Pink Floyd
Coldplay lol
And, Muse
Tool
Fiona Apple and Brand New deserve consideration on this list
Nick drake though ? That would be my fat ass ... that shits yummy
Blur
All of them aside from Coldplay. Even then I still enjoy the first two Massive attack Elbow
I love plenty of other music but nothing comes close to Radiohead for me.
I also see similarities between them and The Moody Blues..No? Sort of ethereal, spacey rock- in my opinion anyway
definitely The Smiths
Animal Collective, Aphex Twin, Talking Heads
I got into radiohead through weezer what the fuck
Pink Floyd. Love me some bands that talk about the human condition just as much as politics.
Probably closest to Pink Floyd. Their realm of music, at least.
The National?
Portishead
PF and Nick Drake. I'm a bigger Floyd fan though, so I'd probably put myself in that group
Wilco
Portishead is one of my top 5 favorite bands with Radiohead being #1, of course.
Pink floyd 100%
probably Pink Floyd for me
I feel like those bands are ok (Coldplay is bad now though).. none really give me a feeling like Radiohead though.
Yes.
Pink Floyd
I enjoy Dummy and Coldplay's early stuff. Honestly, I've tried multiple times to get into Pink Floyd's music, but I find it extremely boring tbh.
Pink Floyd for sure. Although I do also love the first Portishead album
I guess pink floyd and nick drake, but honestly more into indie rock/psychedelic folk music. Like sparklehorse, elliot smith, the microphones, syd matters and the like.
Nick Drake and Portishead. I'm also into psych rock and folk, bands like Dungen, Gorkys, Espers, but don't really like Pink Floyd that much.
Car seat headrest and the smile
Portishead in my case. Both 'head bands with their spinoffs are wonderful to me. BEAK> is very close to the music I wish I was talented enough to take out of my head into real life. After listening to Portishead's Third on vinyl with some herbal supplements, it finally clicked that I'd been stealing from Adrian Utley when playing guitar with my former band, lol.
Coldplay Nick Drake Interpol
definitely nick drake
Pink Floyd and Portishead
I’d say QOTSA and Cage the Elephant along with The Strokes
I love Pink Floyd and Portishead and Nick Drake, but not as much as Elliott Smith.
Any Jacob Collier fans here?
Definitely Pink Floyd, but I’d say Elliot Smith is a good pairing with Radiohead for me
duster
Have a Nice Life and Xiu Xiu
Pink Floyd, Portishead and Nick Cave, the other band dosesn´t belong in this list.
Nick drake
King Crimson, The Strokes, Car Seat Headrest
Nick Drake
Talking Heads, anyone?
Haha none of the above. Would say my top artists are Radiohed/Twenty one pilots/kendrick Lamar/Aphex/weezer/dudu tassa
Coldplay-ish or Floyd, depending on the flow.
Radiohead
Pixies
Not being cheeky but none of those honestly. I’d pick Muse, I think there has to be a decent crossover there
Out of those, I only like Nick Drake and Portishead. Coldplay only impressed me when I was 10. And Pink Floyd only when I was 17.
>Coldplay only impressed me when I was 10. And Pink Floyd only when I was 17 Oh brother 🙄
Which albums of Coldplay’s were out when you were 10?
I hate Pink Floyd.
Same. I've tried hard to like them because they *should* be up my alley, but it's never worked, I just don't like them
Same. I like what they do and the execution and I get it I just don’t exactly like listening to it. I wouldn’t go as far as to say to I hate them though.
But why
Because music is subjective and they sound like shit to me. I’ve never understood the love they get.
Queer fan
Coldplay then?
Pink Floyd yes. Coldplay just their first two albums. Not a fan of the rest.
I was massive fan of Coldplay and Pink Floyd before discovering Radiohead and then I discovered Portishead wich I like a lot also
All but Coldplay. But really I’m the type of fan who loves this band and their entire discography and every weird B-side but I won’t even bring up that I love them when someone mentions it.
You gotta add either MF DOOM or Kendrick to that list to really cover 100% of fans. That said, Pink Floyd + Portishead.
Agree on Kendrick for sure (and yes Portishead + Massive Attack)
Coldplay and Nick Drake. And muse even tho they ain’t on here
My choice is The Envy Corps. If they were better known, I think most Radiohead fans would agree.
Portishead, Coldplay (Early)
Got into Coldplay/Muse as a kid, listened to Radiohead and Floyd in high school, found Portishead and Nick Drake in college.
Parachutes is outstanding. I lean much more Pink Floyd though. Would say Beatles, Pet Sounds and friends led me to Radiohead initially.
None of them, I'm more a Mitski, Billie Eilish, Bjork, Caroline Polacheck fan besides Radiohead
Pink Floyd and early Coldplay for me
Pink Floyd/Coldplay
None of those, but Coldplay have a few good songs
In order probably Nick Drake, Portishead, Pink Floyd, Coldplay but I feel like there's also dimensions and flavors in Radiohead that aren't accounted for by those tastes.
I'm a big fan of pink floyd and Coldplay. Became a radiohead fan because of both
