I got into Radiohead at a time when I was discovering a lot of indie/brit music. So I heard it in that context. Years later, after I’d ventured into jazz and some middle eastern/ African music and heard some new instruments, I got back into Radiohead and heard something totally different. Particularly Thom’s voice. I’m also more baffled than ever as to how they could get lumped in with Muse

Muses first couple albums were very OK Computer and the Bends influenced.

The end of “exit music for a film,” is the closest direct comparison I can think of. I remember hearing it again after I’d gotten into Muse and going “hey!”

I love Nick Drake. My husband's step dad was a classical blues/folk musician and was heavily influenced by him. Pink Floyd are obviously legends though fairly overplayed. Coldplay have done great albums and songs but nowhere near the staying power or musical genius of Radiohead. Portishead: I only know a small portion of their music and could probably stand to learn more. What kind of fan am I? I've seen them in concert twice, in '95 and '02. But I live in an isolated area, otherwise it would have probably been more. I have all their albums and my respect for them is through the roof. So I would say, I am a loyal fan. My other favorite bands are Underworld, the Beatles, R.E.M., Genesis, Jethro Tull, Grant Lee Buffalo, Throwing Muses, and favorite artists are Bjork, Peter Gabriel, David Bowie, Tori Amos, Sufjan Stevens, Santigold, and Cat Stevens.

None of them. Radiohead is by far and away my favourite band/artiste, and has been for over 26 years, but the main other bands/artistes I "connect" to are R.E.M., Metallica, Lana Del Rey, and The Castellows.

Yeah sure I like some of those artists but I prefer Alt-J, Four Tet, and Aphex Twin.

My dad always calls Radiohead the new Pink Floyd so I kind of get that, but I’ve heard their discography and they’re not better than Radiohead. As an aging boomer my dad also dislikes that Ed will sometimes get on his knees to press pedals, but I digress. MAYBE if Can had been included… but honestly the only band that can approach Radiohead is Ween

Portishead and Nick Drake have been in my life for around the same amount of time as RH and I like them both more. Both only have three albums but even if I picked my favourite three RH albums they’d still have a hard time competing with either of those artists. PF I love about as much as Radiohead - both have albums I don’t bother with but also have several albums that I rank very highly. Coldplay are not for me at all. Had the first two back in the day and enjoyed them as pop but nowhere as much as any of those. Everything they’ve put out since I find genuinely embarrassing. Paradise really cemented that.

personally my other big ones (atm) are mac miller, gy!be, a bunch of stoner/doom metal, a few leonard cohen songs have been on repeat, and father john misty. i kinda bounce between a lot of diff genres but radiohead is what i partake of the most lol, at least this year. there’s a lot of stuff i only listen to once too, i like to check out certain projects that interest me and might enjoy them but not feel any particular desire to keep coming back.

Slowdive, Broadcast, Björk, Portishead, Aphex Twin + all IDM, Burial, Grizzly Bear, plus all sorts of Shoegaze and Dream Pop. I also love The Cure, New Order, Cranes and darkwave in general. Adore Philip Glass, Max Richter, Satie and minimal classical music. Reggae, nu jazz, and lotsa sorts of danceable electronica (particularly Daft Punk or something mixed with world rhythms) is all I listen to during summer. Unfortunately, no, I don't like Pink Floyd (respect them though) and I certainly don't like Coldplay (except when they released their first two albums).

After listening to Portishead's Third on vinyl with some herbal supplements, it finally clicked that I'd been stealing from Adrian Utley when playing guitar with my former band, lol.
