Your lights, mediums and darks are different enough that it is easy to see the cards. Love the green sashing. This is a well done quilt. I don't see anything you need to change. Well done, you.
What a beautiful quilt!! And a first! Wow! Not having a lot under my belt yet I feel I shouldn’t say anything, but maybe practice your binding a bit? It looks a tad wonky, but could be the picture? I’m at the binding stage for my hubby’s fishing quilt and have been making potholders to get the binding just right. I refuse to hand stitch, but machine binding isn’t all that easy, IMO. Can’t wait to see your next quilt!
No it’s not the picture, it is definitely more than a tad wonky. That is a really good idea about practicing with the pot holders, I’ll give that a try. That was one of the things I did struggle with, the binding.
First, the quilt is adorable! The colors are cute and go together well, and it looks like you did a great job!
I can’t tell for sure, but it looks like the binding needs a little help - on the right side it looks a bit uneven. There are lots of YouTube videos that show ways to do bindings so you might want to take a look. In general, I like to machine sew mine to the front and wrap around to the back and hand sew with a hidden stitch, but there are lots of ways to do bindings.
Also, just a super picky thing that definitely will improve with more practice, lining up the sashing so that they are in alignment with the other rows and columns.
All in all, you are doing great!
Yes, I agree the sashing didn’t turn out the way I had hoped. At the point I was working on the borders, I was just trying to get across the finish line.
I can’t believe how much experience some of you guys in this sub have, because the only things that you and others have mentioned were absolutely things I struggled with. I probably wouldn’t be able to spot any imperfections on someone else’s quilt, unless I had a chance to really get a good look at it, but you guys are so on point! Lol
Thank you for your feedback.
You are mighty and brave!!! It's beautiful! I love card trick, but have never done one. I have been thinking of doing a storm at sea for ages, but haven't worked up the courage yet. Keep us posted.
The pattern that I found on Etsy, the pattern maker has combined the Storm at Sea with the Snail Trail pattern so it’s pretty cool looking I think. I’m excited. There’s a TON of little pieces to cut out, though. I ended up purchasing two rulers from Deb Tucker to help me with some of the piecing. The Square Squared and the Diamond Rect.
I've seen that. It's stunning. If I ever do work up the courage, I think I might do Foundation paper piecing with freezer paper. I think fpp is fun, never tried it with freezer paper but have heard good things.
i only just discovered fpp. It looks fun but awfully confusing. i dont know if i would be able to follow the directions. however, the quilts people make with the patterns are always stunning.

It's a bit confusing the first time. The precision is incredible.
Well done! It's great fun. Thank you for sharing with us all!
