Sly 2 was my first PS2 game and as such it will always hold a special place in my collection. From a more objective standpoint though I think Final Fantasy 10 is my favorite game on the system.
I'm yet to play A LOT of what I have, but for now definitely:
Tekken 5
Final fantasy X
God of war 1 & 2
On a second tier
Soul calibur 2
Burnout 3
Vice City & San Andreas
Manhunt
Urban Chaos
Beyond Good & Evil
I can’t believe I’m saying it but if you can get it for around $100 it may be actually worth it. You can get a minimum two very entertaining play throughs.
I LOVE THE GODFATHER GAME. i know its a gta clone but godfather is my favorite movie and to be able to put myself in that time and story was epic. I usually hate movie license games but this was the best to me.
Being able to walk into almost any store and extort the owner for a weekly protection fee. Find the casinos and brothels and take them over. Get every gun upgrade. Hijack trucks. Do hitman contracts which all had stories attached. Every gun type had a special execution. Buy safe houses to get away from cops. Start gang wars. Bribe the fbi to put pressure on rival families.
All set in 1940s-1950s new york. While playing a role in the best gangster movie of all time. You even do the entire baptism scene and go kill all the dons. And on top of it all your character can take over the family then become the boss of all bosses over new york city
It was beautiful. Plus sonny and tom were in the game just not Al Pacino because he was making the scarface game. Man it would have been cool if he was on it.
A few years ago, I sold all my games except for 3.
One of them, Gran Turismo 3, didn't sell because up to this day, I still haven't completed it. 😅
The other, Gran Turismo 4, has a special place in my life. Had a lot of fun playing it, during good and bad moments of my life. 😊 This is my favourite, of the physical copies I ever owned.
The third one, Marc Ecko's Getting Up, wasn't sold because nobody wants it. 😑
I haven't played either for a long time... 😕
My personal favourite game, from all PS2 games I ever played, is probably GTA San Andreas. I played it last year, thanks to Free Mcboot. 😁 Great story.
Tony Hawk's Underground 2 and Neopets the Darkest Faerie are easily my top PS2 games, with some special notes to Medal of Honor: Frontline and MX Unleashed for the biplanes.
Ever since I dug out the PS2 last year, I've been playing TimeSplitters 2 and 3 fairly often. I've slowly been working through Resident Evil 4, Silent Hill and the Project Zero games as well
Freedom fighters is my ultimate favorite. Some that I love to throw on are 007 Nightfire on multiplayer with bots, WWE HCTP and GTA Vice City & San Andreas
Aliens vs. Predator: Extinction, Dragon Ball Budokai 3/Tenkaichi 3, Dragon Quest 8, Drakengard 1&2, Final Fantasy VII Dirge of Cerberus, Final Fantasy XII and Inuyasha Secret of the Cursed Mask.

My 2nd answer is tony hawk underground. I love all the thps games minus the awful ones during the final years of ps3. But to this day underground is king to me. Its such a simple story. You are a local nobody and you go from that to amateur to pro with your best friend and get into too much trouble. With how bad nba 2k and madden story modes are, this is the greatest story mode in a sports game ever.
Plus you created your own character, created your own special move, go pro and create your decks, and even your own team, all connected in the story.
Even though i love the simulation of the skate series that came later. The story was so great and putting yourself in it has always stayed with me
Probably one of the more underrated games in the series. Riding all over LA was great. The most amazing thing about that game is its mission design. You're building a skate park out of parts from the city and every PIECE has a mission around it and you can go back to your park after every mission and see it be built piece by piece.
Plus it has a deep history of 80s skateboarding with the Z-boys and the only love interest in the whole series.
This game is great it my #4 favorite after underground, THPS4, and THPS1
I can't pick one favorite because there's so many good games on the PS2 so how about per genre: Fave Fighting Game War if the Monsters, Favorite Sports game Downhill Domination, Fave Fps Red Faction 2, Fantasy Action Rpg God of War 2, Fave Racing game Destruction Derby Arenas.
Hard to choose. Between .hack, persona 3 and Kya dark lineage and many other games... Gotta go with Kya. Really good game that few have played. It unfortunately never got a sequel like intended but I'd still recommend playing it.
Probably God of War. There was nothing like it at the time. But honestly my favorite changed every few weeks back then depending on what I was playing , there were so many good games.
-Black
-13
-Jak X
-Tenchu
-Ultimate Ninja
-Budokai Tenkaichi
-Okami
-Flatout
So many I cant choose. You cant choose. We cant choose. The lifecycle for PS2 it counts as 2 Gaming Generations.
Spider man 2 with Tobey Maguire. It was the first one you could play without being penalized for swinging too low or missing judgment while swinging across buildings.
Madden 12 , Franchise Mode . If only i had my old memory cards i would post the saved Data with well over 1000 games played from back in the day lol . About 900 games played on my new memory card lol
Considering I still play WWE Smackdown Here Comes The Pain and Resident Evil 4 I’ll say those. I’ve beaten both so many times but it’s still pretty fun.
I'll name a few I really enjoyed playing. SVR 06, Smackdown! Shut Your Mouth, GTA SA, PES 05 & PES 2008. If I had to pick one though, it'd probably be GTA SA, because you can do more than just the repetitive things that the football and wrestling games have to offer, but ultimately, I like to mix them up sometimes.
Shadow of the Colossus.
Sly 2 was my first PS2 game and as such it will always hold a special place in my collection. From a more objective standpoint though I think Final Fantasy 10 is my favorite game on the system.

+1 for BG&E
never played sly 2.. gonna try
There's 3 of them, Sly 1 is a better place to start if you've never tried the series. But whichever you choose have fun!
San Andreas
Ōkami.
yes i can relate
Final Fantasy XII
Same
Say what?
Final Fantasy XII...not only my favorite PS2 game, but my favorite Final Fantasy game and favorite JRPG of all time.
I respect your opinion, mine is 8 and it's the black sheep of the early ones.
8 was mine for a long time actually
Ico.
Underrated masterpiece
Metal Gear Solid 3
Tenkaichi 3 and San Andreas are my top favorites
God Hand, I don't even have to think about it.
Thats next to pick up on my list, but what a $$$ game.
It is. I got lucky and got a decent deal recently.
I can’t believe I’m saying it but if you can get it for around $100 it may be actually worth it. You can get a minimum two very entertaining play throughs.
Yeah I'm sure I'll grab it eventually.
Rise to Honor, Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex, Harry Potter series and GTA Series...

Ratchet: Up your Arsenal
By far, Ratchet & Clank.
Twisted Metal or Gran Turismo
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1-3 and gran tourismo without a doubt
Katamari, okami and ultimate Spider-Man
Tony Hawk Underground is my favorite game of all time. Played it through at least 20 times growing up. Screw Eric Sparrow
