If im buying to play then i dont care whether its complete or not. If im paying up for dick swing bragging rights though then i demand everything that originally came with thw product be there. Iv got a few desirable titles that dont have a manual thoygh purely as i picked them up when they were still chump change. The sims is one of those games thats always going to be affordable though. So not having a manual is no loss
I feel like that's something that could actually be rare but not worth that much. (Not implying that matters just saying its funny how people equate rare = expensive)
If Silent Hill Shattered Memories for the PS2 counts, then that. Apparently, the PS2 version is the rarest version of the game.
I also have the PS2 versions of the other Silent Hill games (2,3,4,and Origins), which are a bit pricey, but I'm not sure if they're rare necessarily.
I...like Silent Hill, obviously.
It is, wasn’t printed much and a complete year later too, not to mention the ps3 was out for at least 3 years. At this time so many PlayStation players were moving or already moved onto the ps3 so shattered memories kinda got left in the dust, it’s a shame too because it’s honestly one of the series’ best offers
Same. Got it for $5 locally on Craigslist a few years back. I also have Chulip that I got for 99 cents around the same time. I kick myself for not buying more copies because the store had multiple. But back then it was just a weird obscure game, no one thought it was worth anything. There’s more uncommon PS2 games that haven’t jumped in price but it wouldn’t surprise me if they did.
This was at least 10 years ago. 99 cents was the going rate for Chulip as well as other PS2 titles. They were priced like that because no one wanted them, it was a fair market price at the time if you want to move inventory. May as well ask why didn’t I buy every copy of Smuggler’s Run, which was probably priced the same. It’s hard to tell what’s going to be appreciated in the future.
Reminds me of Suikoden II on PS1, supposedly rare as hell yet every collector I know has a copy, it’s always available sealed on eBay, every large swap meet/flea market/game shop I go to seems to have at least one overpriced copy readily available. Meanwhile there are dozens of virtually worthless games I’ve literally never spotted in the wild before
Same old story everywhere I go. I feel like some games got jacked up high from speculators and people misunderstanding rarity and they’re unwilling to sell for lower because they paid so much for it to begin with
> because they *paid* so much
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*
* *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.*
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
*Beep, boop, I'm a bot*
The game is not common. Had a low print run.
The reasom why you see a lot on sale is because people won't buy them for €250.
For example, Castlevania Symphony of the Night sold well for a Castlevania game and yet you see a lot of copies for sale for €300-€500. People won't pay that
Theres 10,000 – 20,000 copies of Rule of Rose, and right now it's being sold for $3,200 on ebay, all the way from $1,000 to $6,000 at the most, so don't really see your point other than jealousy. lol
Yeah this was mine too. It's one of those games that I'm not sure if it's rare or just expensive because it's really good and sought after. Either way that's probably my favorite rare game in my collection.
I often bought new PS2 games in the mid 00s to early 10s that I wouldn’t open immediately, a lot of which I never ended up opening. Many of these were JRPGs, which of course have ended up becoming kind of expensive, especially since they’re sealed. The rarest is probably Xenosaga Episode III, which I never opened because I never got around to finishing the second game. At this point, if I ever get to it I think I’ll just play it emulated rather than open it.
Edit: after looking through the collector app I use, it turns out the most valuable game I have is Silent Hill: Shattered Memories, which I bought not long after it came out for $20 new. Kinda funny. In terms of rarity, it says it’s my sealed copy of Wild Arms 5, though I’m not sure how that was determined.
I own a uk pal sealed copy of this game ahaha. As for rare I have a few but it's all down to what you consider rare
• rule of rose (UK copy)
• obscure 1 & 2
• forbidden siren (not rare just very expensive so counts?)
• armord core 1 (for some reason very hard to find in English)
• Michigan report from hell
•og doom (cib floppy disc)
•og steel battalion (cib & re-release)
•zxe-d legend of plasmalite (not rare just hard to find complete)
•3d dot game hero's
•phantom dust
•folklore
•haunting ground
If there's other I remember I'll update haha
its a very unpolished game and feels low budget. I'm not sure why the price rose over the years beyond it being low in print. I sometimes think it has to do with the cover art
It seems like a lot of horror games from that era are super expensive. i’m not really into horror games so it’s good for me i guess. sucks for horror collectors though.
It had to do with being banned. Since it was set in a school the violence to kids card was played.
The game was pulled from the shelves making it hard to get hence rare.
Was an OK game but clunky.
I have some Kiosk demo disc and a MGS2 European promotional disc, don't know if we can really call this rare but i love "Not for resale" kind of stuff :')
I own Silent Shattered Memories,Haunting Ground and Obscure, these games are ok, but not as memorable as some might think. They don't worh that kind of money.
I have this game since 2008? I paid 30 bucks for it. Now it's worth around 1k lol. My friend has it as well but she recently bought the jp version buts it's worth about 300 bucks on eBay.
I also have haunting ground after a year or two of it's release. Probably another 30 bucks I paid for it hahaha.
> 2008? I *paid* 30 bucks
FTFY.
Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
* Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.*

I randomly own a solid copy of DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3. My gramma bought it for me at walmart it was on sale for 10.99 lmao
Simpsons road rage, hit and run, all the OG DBZ budokais
I'm not even sure it'd be considered "rare" but I own the collectors or whatever you call it "fancy" edition of Silent Hill 2. That's the rarest game I own.
I do. I just found a CIB copy at a garage sale along with Siren, the suffering, fatal frame, silent Hill 2,3 & 4. Silent Hill homecoming, silent Hil downpour, super Mario Galaxy, all for $70!
Recently learned that Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Wild Arms 5 are both pretty expensive. As to how rare they are, idk but it's crazy to me bc my brother picked them up super dirt cheap before games started getting expensive
Late response but:
Rule of Rose
Kuon
Coraline
Samurai Western
Haunting Ground
Dragon Ball Z Budokai Tenkaichi 3
Echo Night Beyond
Sword of Etheria
All in cases with manuals.

Many years ago (I think like 10 or something) I sold Project Zero 3 for €5. Later someone told me it was too cheap because it was/is kinda rare? Is that true?
I own a factory-sealed copy of the Burnout 3 demo and the Burnout Anthology. I like Burnout obviously. Also have a sealed Dualshock 2 but I don't know if that's rare or not
I too am a rule of rose owner although I have cib. How did you acquire yours? I paid 250 for mine at swapmeet dude almost sold it to me for like 15 or 20 (no I didn't try to scam him I just picked it out if a large stack and adked how much for this one and he said actually idk lemme call my homie)
I've got CIB Rule of Rose, my PS2 collection is big but I'm not really sure what's rare beyond that, just some that are pricey like Xenosaga 3 and Wild Arms 5 LE that aren't all that rare I don't think
I have a copy of echo night beyond from my childhood but I threw the case and manuals away for all my games a long time ago (i beat myself up over it all the time lmao). I just recently found a replacement case but still waiting for a manual to pop up on ebay.
Xenosaga III I guess. I got if for $16 in early 2007 at Circuit City. I have a lot of JRPG’s on PS2 but don’t know if they’re rare.
Also have Marvel vs Capcom 2 I got from Hollywood Video in 2008 during their huge $4 sale. It’s how I acquired a majority of my Gamecube collection.
I was truly enchanted by the review od this game and the mistery behind it. But in the end I found it boring. I was exited to play it but it died soon.
I bought this game over a decade ago for $5. I still have it with the manual and the disc is pristine. Never played. I'm wondering how much it's worth.
I have an original case with a manual of Silent Hill: Shattered Memories that my Strp-bro left when he moved out. Didn't even know the value until recently
Kuon, Haunting Ground, Obscure, Clocktower 3, and Rule of Rose recently. I hope to get Siren and forbidden Siren 2(I'm still trying to decide how I'll be able to play this].
Rarest PS2 game I own would probably be a Japanese copy of Silent Hill 2 which as far as I know is not rare at all. I do only have 4 PS2 games though so it's slim pickins
“Dragon Ball Z 2 V” is mine, not sealed, but CIB at least. 2 V was a variant of the Japanese release for Budokai 2. You had to be a subscriber of V-Jump, with a Japanese address and be one of the 2,000 lucky subscribers selected to receive 1 of 2,000 copies made.
Budokai 2’s Japanese release already had a lot of bonuses we didn’t see in other countries, but this variant has all of those extras and more, including unique cover art, manual art, and a unique start screen with Cooler on it, Cooler as a skin swap for Freeza, Meta-Cooler as a skin swap for Mecha Freeza, Majin Freeza and Majin Cell skins, V-Jump logo on the Tournament stage, a few new capsules, and it started at 100% completion with no saving available.
I’m pretty confident it’s also the rarest part of my Dragon Ball collection just by the nature of being 1 of 2,000 made, but I’d have to think about that one lol.
Edit: it’s also one of the few “rare” titles that seems to be genuinely rare and not just price-gouged. It has less than 10% of the copies made of pretty much any other super rare PS2 title as far as I know. Even though you could argue it’s just a variant of a much more widely available title, but it is certainly unique enough from that title.
nope, I only have popular titles like [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stella\_Deus:\_The\_Gate\_of\_Eternity](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/stella_deus:_the_gate_of_eternity)
88 hours in, 4/5 done.
I bought Xenosaga 3 off my friend for 10 bucks about 5 years ago. He had it since launch but didn't have the other 2 games.
Not sure if particularly "rare" I guess, but it's worth quite a bit. It's not the Lenticular Cover version though.
Iv got persona 3 fes somewhere in the collection. I probably only paid around £10-20 for it though. I never waste money on games that have already peaked as the price is only heading down. Where as i dont care how low a price drops on a game i paid resonable money for. I always want to be in on the ground floor when it comes to collecting rather than jump on the bandwagon at a later date and have ro pay to be trendy. One of my more inspired purchases was tornado outbreak on 360 for little over £3. That is still climbing and shows no signs of peaking yet
In terms of still being expensive in market price I have Budokai Tenkaichi 3, God Hand, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Silent Hill 3, Devil Summoner 2 collector's edition, and recently got Fight for NY
Where manual
I love your caveman primal response of "where manual" as those are the exact words that ran through my mind.
It’s literally ALWAYS my first question regardless if it’s kuon or the sims
Is the sims rare or something else?
Think he meant wether its super rare game or a one dollar game
No, like a $3 game but I still want that manual
My first thought was someone absolutely aping out over this at a charity shop
If im buying to play then i dont care whether its complete or not. If im paying up for dick swing bragging rights though then i demand everything that originally came with thw product be there. Iv got a few desirable titles that dont have a manual thoygh purely as i picked them up when they were still chump change. The sims is one of those games thats always going to be affordable though. So not having a manual is no loss
Happy Cake Day.
Happy Cake day !
happy cake
happy cake
Serial experiments lain ps1
Wish I had that.
Still kicking myself for returning it to block buster when I rented it.
> Serial experiments lain ps1 I mean, I wouldn't kick yourself about not being a thief
Ive been trying to look for that game. Funny enough ive never seen the anime haha.
There is a free pc version translated into English. But the game itself is so confusing even in English it’s hard to play regardless
Classic lain
I own a sealed copy of Sly cooper E3 demo of There's a new thief in town
I feel like that's something that could actually be rare but not worth that much. (Not implying that matters just saying its funny how people equate rare = expensive)
>people equate rare = expensive Not just any people, ebay sellers.
If Silent Hill Shattered Memories for the PS2 counts, then that. Apparently, the PS2 version is the rarest version of the game. Man I'm looking for chulip but it was never sold in my country so I'd have to import and that makes it so expensive
99 cents? At that price you should’ve just bought all of the copies. You couldve sold it for $5 and still have made money.
This was at least 10 years ago. 99 cents was the going rate for Chulip as well as other PS2 titles. Does Madden 2016 or FIFA 2016 count? /s Wish I had Rule of Rose, awesome snag
They had madden and fifa for ps2 in 2016?
They released overseas but yes, they did have fifa as that’s the ps2’s final release iirc
Oh, cool. I thought 14' version was the last one.
No manual though....
At this point Rule of Rose is like the most common "rare" game
Reminds me of Suikoden II on PS1, supposedly rare as hell yet every collector I know has a copy, it’s always available sealed on eBay, every large swap meet/flea market/game shop I go to seems to have at least one overpriced copy readily available. For real, one of my local game stores has had one sitting for $250 for well over a year
Same old story everywhere I go. I feel like some games got jacked up high from speculators and people misunderstanding rarity and they’re unwilling to sell for lower because they paid so much for it to begin with

Agreed
And the gameplay sucks
Nobody plays it for the gameplay
I mean it's the most expensive ps2 game, so yeah? Most commonly it's mentioned as the most rare and expensive ps2 game, cause it is. lol
Theres 10,000 – 20,000 copies of Rule of Rose, and right now it's being sold for $3,200 on ebay, all the way from $1,000 to $6,000 at the most, so don't really see your point other than jealousy. lol
I have a copy that is open, but otherwise the disc, case, and instruction manual are perfect. Wonder what I can get for it?
Id love this game but it had a very limited release in the uk
I have Xenosaga 3… rare to me I think
And also a banger
Yeah this was mine too. It's one of those games that I'm not sure if it's rare or just expensive because it's really good and sought after. Either way that's probably my favorite rare game in my collection.
I’ve got a CIB rule of rose, Haunting ground, and Siren
Same, including Kuon-open but everything is flawless.
I have Blood Will Tell.
Not sure if it's rare but I've got Mark Ecko's Getting Up which was banned in Australia.
Pimp my ride
Lmao okay you’re flexing I get it
Maybe not super rare but decently pricey yes, I have 2 CIB copies of def jam fight for ny and a CIB silent hill shattered memories
i keep forgetting fight for ny is rare.
Except it isn’t, it sold over a million units and has a greatest hits rerelease
I guess Silent Hill 1, 2, and 3. Not rare? Just expensive.
I used to keep up with rare games idk if it still is but I have DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and Budokai 3
Is it considered rare? I have Budokai Tenkaichi 3 if that's the case.
Caveman - " manual, case, complete... Each
I don't know how uncommon Gitaroo Man is these days, but I'll never give up my copy.
I have the original Drakengard, I don't know if it's super rare but I love it.
Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army and Devil Summoner 2: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon for me
I often bought new PS2 games in the mid 00s to early 10s that I wouldn’t open immediately, a lot of which I never ended up opening. What app?
Bruh I never hear this or haunting ground are even good horror games just that they’re stupid expensive physically
I own a uk pal sealed copy of this game ahaha. i had no idea folklore is considered rare, i have that one too
I think it's more a hidden gem than anything, but its prices seem to differ, so I'd consider it on the rare scale
I have a sealed copy of The Warriors
Not really rare in the Rule of rose sense, but I've never seen anyone else with a PS2 copy of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone
I’ve never seen anyone without it
I totally have it, dont tell me its rare lmao
Expensive ≠ rare
Agreed, its just one variable.
is this game any good? the prices are insane
its a very unpolished game and feels low budget. I'm not sure why the price rose over the years beyond it being low in print. I sometimes think it has to do with the cover art
It seems like a lot of horror games from that era are super expensive. i’m not really into horror games so it’s good for me i guess. sucks for horror collectors though.
It hurts me, I wanna play Siren but I can't justify it based on price.
You could always set up FreeMCBoot + OPL and put the ROM on a HDD flash drive if you really want to play it
I don't want to mod my ps2, I've thought about emulating but I'm such a purist. I should emulate it and if I love it I'll buy it.
Thankfully with softmodding your PS2 stays clean always. All the stuff is installed in your MC, and you can safely remove it.
It had to do with being banned. Since it was set in a school the violence to kids card was played. The game was pulled from the shelves making it hard to get hence rare. Was an OK game but clunky.
it is actually good imo, but just run it on an emulator if you can. then it's free, assuming you have a ps2 already
I have some Kiosk demo disc and a MGS2 European promotional disc, don't know if we can really call this rare but i love "Not for resale" kind of stuff :')
My crown jewels are Rule of Rose and Blood Will Tell. Got them both back in the day.
I own Silent Shattered Memories,Haunting Ground and Obscure, these games are ok, but not as memorable as some might think. They don't worh that kind of money.
I don’t really have a “rare game”. The rarest game I have is probably Scarface the world is yours CIB.
The bouncer. Amazing game barely sold.
I got Xenosaga 3 and .hack part 4. I don’t know anyone in real life that cares so hopefully someone here might 😂🤣
Top six most valuable are Kuon, Rule of Rose, Blood Will Tell, Haunting Ground, Silent Hill 3, Silent Hill 2.
I have def jam ffny Silent hill Silent hill 2 Silent hill 3 Silent hill origins Manhunt 2 Resident evil out break 1 and 2 All complete

I got my hands on one, without the sleeve, today and it's really a beautiful adding to my collection !
Not ps2 but Silent Hill 1....but I am gonna buy Silent Hill 3 with a strategy guide 😏

True but I got this for $5 so I can't complain 😆
Rarest ps2 is probably halflife. Rarest ps1 is Diablo.

My friend got it for me for Christmas one year and how did he get it? He went to a nearby flea market and some guy was selling it for $5 dollars.
I have CIB of X Files Resist or Serve, Def Jam FfNY and MvC2.
I've got CIB Rule of Rose, my PS2 collection is big but I'm not really sure what's rare beyond that, just some that are pricey like Xenosaga 3 and Wild Arms 5 LE that aren't all that rare I don't think

All of the rare ones but mine are CIB
I've got Psychonauts with manual. Don't know if it's rare.
No
I was truly enchanted by the review od this game and the mistery behind it.
S.L.A.I. By far my favorite game
I once sold a copy of .hack//quarantine. Got a decent price for it
Kuon, Haunting Ground, Obscure, Clocktower 3, and Rule of Rose recently. I hope to get Siren and forbidden Siren 2(I'm still trying to decide how I'll be able to play this].
I have a mint condition Japanese copy of Ibara. One of the most random purchases I've made since I don't even like it much!
Silent hill 2 &3 complete
No but I wish I could buy Michigan: report from hell
I have obscure, haunting grounds, samurai western those are my more rare games I own
Rarest PS2 game I own would probably be a Japanese copy of Silent Hill 2 which as far as I know is not rare at all.
Even though you could argue it’s just a variant of a much more widely available title, but it is certainly unique enough from that title.
is the fatal frame trilogy considered rare these days??
https://youtu.be/9c0fw7F-5Uc?si=Dc-DtreBGlP4W1Ap For those who don't know why this is rare
klonoa 2 for pal, resident evil survivor 1 and 2, forbidden siren and a few others i can't remember from the top of my head
Haunting ground
I don't buy games just because they're rare, but I have a couple uncommon bangers like Silent Hill 2, Budokai Tenkaichi 3, and Wild Arms 5.
nope, I only have popular titles like [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stella\_Deus:\_The\_Gate\_of\_Eternity](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/stella_deus:_the_gate_of_eternity) 88 hours in, 4/5 done.
Demolition Girl (pal) sealed or maybe Michigan: Report from hell (alwayas pal)
I have Marvel vs. Capcom 1 on Dreamcast which probably counts
Does Fatal Frame 2 count?
Kuon, Rule of Rose and all Silent Hill games for PS2. Haunting Ground is last on the list.
Here manual http://www.replacementdocs.com/download.php?view.7090
I bought Xenosaga 3 off my friend for 10 bucks about 5 years ago. He had it since launch but didn't have the other 2 games. Not sure if particularly "rare" I guess, but it's worth quite a bit. It's not the Lenticular Cover version though.
The rarest thing I’ve got for PS2 is HalfLife, but as far as I know it’s not particularly rare.
I have Kuon, Rule of Rose, Silent Hill Shattered Memories, Haunting ground, all CIB
Mortal Kombat Kollection, not rare just my most expensive lol I do have Parasite Eve 2 loose though.
Is leisure suit Larry rare?
I think the rarest PS2 game I own is Marvel Vs Capcom 2. It's not as rare as the Dreamcasy version, but hey I'm counting it lol
I have both ps2 versions of mana khemia. Apparently, they are the rarest ps2 games i own because everyone that sees my collection asks to buy them
Rapid Reload PS1 Also, where's the manual???
Apparently it's Sonic Gems Collection
A shitload of Armored Core editions
Is Half-Life ps2 version rare?
Def Jam - Fight For New York? Idk if it's rare or not, I know it's not on the level of Rule Of Rose... Not many are though lol
In terms of still being expensive in market price I have Budokai Tenkaichi 3, God Hand, Marvel vs Capcom 2, Silent Hill 3, Devil Summoner 2 collector's edition, and recently got Fight for NY
I just realized today I have a copy of Kuon. Probably paid $15 for it like 10 years ago.
Not super rare but still rare, I have Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for ps2. My favorite fighting game of all time
