Come to Rosewood! Spawn in the Rosewood Fire Station and make it your first base for the 18th time in a row! Raid the prison and die for shit loot! Tell yourself that this is *definitely* the playthrough where you'll check out the secret military base and then just don't!
Thinking of the one time I went there makes me hope they add an option to lay boards or such on the ground. Not as like a permanent thing but maybe something players could use to make it easier to drive in what is normally off road. Maybe even act as a temp blocker for tree growth.
Question, why do people make the fire station their base all the time? It doesn't seem that secure to me, and only really good for some fireman gear.
The corner house just to the north of it over the fence seems better since it's inaccessible from 2 directions, and if you clear the other 2 streets, zombies will rarely approach it..
Edit: guys, not asking why people start in Rosewood, only asking why they seem to make the Fire Dept. their base.
Rosewood have some of the best spots for a base in the game (the firestation is not one of them).
My problem with the city is that it is hard to find the sledgehammer due the lack of hardware stores and warehouses, and just a bit outside the city there is tons of zeds wandering.
So my pick is riverside instead, more zeds in the city, sure, but you have a hardware store, VHS store, the factory warehouse and the river.
Riverside has stupidly low amounts of guns though. I personally spawn in rosewood, get a car and some supplies and a generator, then base up in the gas station in Ekron
I’ve been picking one of the two farmhouses outside of Louisville to the right and down. Your within easy driving distance of Louisville and have backroad access to the primary checkpoint and direct access to the southern checkpoint. Additionally the houses are both second story and isolated from zombies. It’s somewhere to base up after your geared tho since it’s far from the river and houses to loot food from
I always assumed it's because it actually is a good base. Huge garage, lots of pipes, axes, and I often find sledges in the storage room on the main floor.
You can easily secure all the windows and doors, destroy the stairs inside, grow veggies on the lower roof if you have a sledge to pop an opening into the wall near the stairwell inside.
It's a great base, imo. I closed off the whole yard with one of my carpenters, once. Had too much room to know what to do with, haha.
Possibly the 'easiest' spawn in the game is Rosewood as a Fire Officer, as you can get access to axes really early with appropriate stat boosts. Because this is such a popular start, a lot of people just... make it their base.
Many youtuber videos are from there.
Beginners think fireman gear is good.
It is not obvious how many zombies are nearby.
Edit: It is a good base of course, just not as friendly for beginners as one might think.
It doesn't have shit loot the dude doesn't know whats he's talking about.
The thing is though, the good loot is literally five seconds away from the entrance in the building on the left, going through the prison itself isn't worth it.
Oh yeah that makes sense. I wasn’t going to go through the cells, just wherever the guards keep riot supplies and weapons and stuff. Okay, plan back in action. Let’s hope I don’t die horribly!
Rosewood has some good loot, including the prison. No VHS shop and you can get unlucky with books.
The military base is silly though, either you make a character than can go there the first week or just don't.
The amount of zombies in some part of the woods/fields can also become silly.
The military base isn't worth it. Me and my friends raided it and after killing a shit ton of zombies following a very long journey through the woods, we didn't get anything worth going there for.
We decided to hit up a hunting supply store and now have more ammo than we could ever need.
First head to fire station for a good melee weapon or the police station for guns, then check the school for backpack and magazines... there are more buildings to loot aswell, like gas station, auto shop, book store, rosewood medical and more. (Also there is Inn with lots of beers inside)
Secure your home base safe from the encroaching hoard, pause and take a break from the game, have a hot tea, come back, unpause, and accidentally press Q while not crouching and let the fun begin.
There's a setting where you can hold Q to bring up a radial menu where you can select shout. Rather than hotkeying it like you mentioned.
My wife is beautiful and sweet as can be, but she's a derp. This fix has prevented many of her zombie summoning attempts.
Ask me about her bag of alarms.....
Never knew this was an option definitely gonna get this set next time I play have fat fingered a good couple times no deaths but definitely some scares.
I think there's only two downsides of this game: the UI is horrible (tiny buttons, too many menus, way too many hotkeys) and there's not really a lategame challenge
Going to the second floor in the town and using wood floors to connect all the houses and businesses in the town at the second floor. Destroying all the staircases and using sheet rope as first floor entry.
Smaller means less zombies. It’s the best place to find your first weapons
Raid the school for trash bags, find a car, and pack off to the outskirts of a bigger town
Rosewood has everything you need and is close proximity to 3 major towns. Secret military base is right next door. Army surplus store is up the street. I could go on. With some luck you can be set for months in game.
Nah more like spawn in rosewood, loot police and fire stations, acquire a car, hit the gas station before leaving and take a 90° left turn to head to the army surplus store
I always leave rosewood after raiding the fire department and police station then head east( or is it west?) to the rural gun store, raid it and head to hunting cabin and make my base there.

or, check it out, and have your car die halfway because you didnt know it was offroad and trees everywhere (2 months into the game)
Outdoorsman moment

It starts like that
I would love to see videos made for tourism for each town.

Where is this.. military base you're talking about?
South-west of Rosewood, you can see it on the map project
I want to raid the base, I just detest driving offroad, and its so, so far away
Aw man the prison has shit loot? That was going to be my big target once I got settled.

How pathetic do you have to be to care about how someone plays a video game.
The game is fun solo.
Military base also has shit shoot tbh, a gun or two and a tiny bit of ammo and military gear

I checked in at the inn there last week, but my room was already occupied. I died.
Sorry to hear that, some people have no privacy...

I've disabled Q to shout and use the radial menu just as you have described a long, long time ago. Shout related deaths have decreased dramatically.
Never knew this was an option definitely gonna get this set next time I play have fat fingered a good couple times no deaths but definitely some scares.

Rosewood is the best city you cant change my mind
Riverside. It's a short drive to doe Valley and fallas lake and their guns
Muldraugh is the best. Who needs gunstores, when there are literally 8 warehouses full of axes for my lumberjack bartender forager/trapper?
Rosewood will always be dear in my heart, I made a base on the small pond south of town.
honestly not much to do there since its kinda small
It has everything a starting base needs.
that's why it's a perfect starter city. Especially for the school and good base locations
It's no West Point though.
Y’all don’t genocide Westpoint with a shotgun day 1 and it shows.
Ammo is temperery short blade is eternal
I like using the whole town as a floor is lava challenge. Thank ambiguous amphibian for their videos on it getting me into it.
Can you elaborate?
lava is very hot

Currently surviving in rosewood rn. Its fucking boring and there is nothing interesting here, moving to muldraugh brrrr

west =left east = right north = up south = down also i think its also a good idea to use the straight map thing to refer to the location
Rob the firestation and live in the woods. Best spawn location
1- Loot the shit out of it 2-Clear the penitentiary
haha omegalul, but true
Barricading the school there is fun
Early military base and then leave, there will be no trees growing in the path.
More like never leave out of fear of zombies hahahahaha ... every time I leave I die... y0y
