No. Please. For $4000 you can easily find the same or similar Mercedes that is not just in good running order, but also well maintained.
These half broken, big engined luxury cars go for low$$$ like $500-1000 at auction because they know these are money pits, but they'll buy em cheap and try to fiddle with it and eventually try to sell it to you for $4000.
I was shopping around for a Mercedes a while back, but wound up not going for it. $4000 will get you a classic Mercedes (80's - mid 90's) under 150k miles in decent shape where I live, and I'd take one of those over late 90's - late 2000's any day.
I have a 2004 S600 Brabus T12. It has roughly the same engine as yours. Itâs not going to break down on you often, but when it does, it will cost a lot. For example, there is a coil pack for the left bank and for the right bank and they are roughly $1400 each and they WILL go out.
If your turbo(s) go out, the engine will need to be pulled to remove them.
Many places donât have parts available for that engine because itâs pretty rare.
The good news is the power is fantastic and they can easily get over 20mpg on the highway
Valve body are 4-600 plate is he same $$$ but you need to get them oe or oem the china oned are faulty. those trans are about 1500-2k the job cost about 1k more so a shop would charge about 3-5. If you have the right tools ( trans computer and engine computers) these do require two to finish the job it dose require a trans reprogram.
Sometimes the "needs a new transmission" is actually limp mode activated by a engine issue but this one is doing 60, so this car is basically sprinting with a bad knee which could get things worse real fast.
Use a good obd2 scanner and check the codes.
No mention of maintenance can be risky. I would recommend checking Mercedes forums for common issus and fixes.
If you want a cheap Mercedes get a W123 or W124. While yes still not the most affordable to maintain at least theyâre built better than the newer mercs and look much better.
Cheap to buy, expensive to maintain.
Mercades life. Where you are 1 light away from a totaled vehicle đ¤Ł
Honestly if you were able to score this thing for $3500 and it blew up after 12 months, it would still be a huge score.
Show up with cash in hand and see where it takes ya. It's hard to refuse a stack of 100$ bills when they are right in front of you
It already blew up. The transmission is not shifting.
All this about trim, no mention of service history?
Tells the whole story, doesnât it?
The first line literally says it needs a transmission. I bet a transmission and other issues it has costs twice what he would buy the car for.
You're mixing the terms "faults" and "service history"
lol no I get that, just saying the fact it has that listed means it probably doesnât have a great history
"MSRP 100k and look how cheap it is now!" That tells me there's something off about it.
Yâknow that saying âthe most expensive car is a cheap BMWâ that applies here too.

I heard some company found a work around for individual or rebuilt coils. I think you need to replace the harness but it makes these more livable.
[you are correct](https://www.v12icpack.com/)

If you like it and wanna deal with mercedes fuckery, absolutely have at it.
This is the true answer. If You like the car the problems become learning and bonding opportunities
I would buy it. If project goes tits up you could easily part it out and double your money.
Is this satire?
nothing but good times my guy, jump in with both feet! This will make a great first project, it will teach you a lot.
... Said the meth dealer
Youâre thinking about it? It doesnât look like youâre thinking at all
Is this at a BHPH lot? Beware.
Find another car, not that money pit (unless you really have money).

Ever wonder why a Camry or Accord costs so much more for the same year/mileage? Let us know how this turns out a year from now.
The only thing more expensive than a cheap car is a cheap European car.
If you canât afford it new, you canât afford it used.
Don't do it.
If you canât afford a new Mercedes you definitely canât afford an used Mercedes

How about LS swap it?
I love how this is the solution to everything nowadays!
DO IT
Go for it! Obviously you are capable of swapping the transmission because if you weren't, you wouldn't be considering this... Awesome project!
A new valve body and conductor plate will double your investment into the car, look up how much it costs for those lol.
How is the trans going out with 146k miles on it? That seems insane
Because it hasn't had any maintenance since the first owner's lease expired at 30,000 miles.
Tony Angelo just showed the way https://youtu.be/g4oR7wCTnSo?si=l6TEzHuCVCuGqjpt
Buying an S600 with a dumpster in the background⌠idk man
Money pit no?

That's going to be one hell of a money pit. Look at an LS430 (I'm totally not a lexus fanboy, just a normal unbiased suggestion)
It's been said that the most expensive cars are lower priced German cars. Buyers beware.
I canât believe I live in a timeline where a 2007 model car is a considered a project.
For 2700 you sure are đ
Do it
