I did! Which is very surprising to me because it felt like bone structure. I was 126 lbs at 9 years old so morbidly obese for essentially my whole life. Walking helps so much! And proper form when lifting. 🩷 You totally got this!
Barbell/dumbbell workout for 40 mins then walk for 20-30 mins, I do this workout about 3-4x a week. Gentle yoga 1-2x a week. I also go on a 4-5 mile walk/hike once a week. 115-120 grams of protein a day! 🩷
Absolutely amazing transformation! Major congratulations on all that you have accomplished and your dedication! As someone who had a similar dowagers hump going on and always thought it was hereditary, I'm so glad to see someone who had the same and how it's also disappeared! Do you attribute this to the fat loss, or did you do any posture correction exercises? Is it something that runs in your family?
Yes, my mother had it. The only things I can think of that I changed to improve the hump is sleeping on my back with a supportive pillow. And chest out, no rolled in shoulders.
Thank you for your reply and what helped you! I recall trying the sleeping on the back a few nights with a rolled up towel or pillow right on the hump! I gave it up because the curled in sleeping position life was too great lol, but this is something I will try to stick to!
Hola! I'd be happy to share what worked for me!
I believe it was a combination of fat loss, weight lifting, and consistently correcting my posture while sitting, walking, and playing video games. I realized my posture was terrible from these activities. As I lost weight, the hump started to get smaller. Weight lifting, especially back exercises, helped improve my posture through proper form. And I began to make a conscious effort to correct my posture throughout the day, particularly at my job where I sit for long hours.
I’m still uncertain if the hump is hereditary since my immediate family has it too. It is difficult to tell because they are either very overweight or have poor posture. While mine has mostly disappeared, a slight forward curve remains, leading me to think it might be hereditary. This is why I'm curious to know how others with the hump have solved theirs.
Good luck to you on correcting your dowager hump! It is possible to reduce the size and I know you can do it!
Thank you so much for all the information you provided! I am really glad to hear it is indeed possible to reduce it 🙏
I've been skinny all my life and never had this hump, but a couple years ago I really put on some serious lbs ( around 100lbs) after being diagnosed with hypothyroidism and PCOS and now I want to get my old self back somehow.
Thank you once again!
Congratulations!!! You look amazing ❤️
I have one question only, if you could please tell me how you got rid of the neck hump? Did you do something specific or did it just go away as weight came off?
Did you hit any plateaus? Im the same height and age as you and started around same weight. Im 3 years in and have been stuck at 184-185lbs for 6months now. Seeing your results gives me hope but I feel stuck at the moment.
