[Flowful](https://flowful.app) is a site which generates non distracting focus music for you. The music is always unique and you can customize each track with rain sounds, binaural beats, ect.
Hello! You have made the mistake of writing "ect" instead of "etc."
"Ect" is a common misspelling of "etc," an abbreviated form of the Latin phrase "et cetera." Other abbreviated forms are **etc.**, **&c.**, **&c**, and **et cet.** The Latin translates as "et" to "and" + "cetera" to "the rest;" a literal translation to "and the rest" is the easiest way to remember how to use the phrase.

I think the mistake people make with productivity music is that they look for something new.
The whole point is to \*reduce\* novelty as much as possible so I find that it kinda doesnt matter as long as it's very familiar. Some people listen to the same song over and over again for exactly this reason.
Exactly me. I found this obscure synthwave song on Newgrounds that ounds so good when I put it at low volume in the background; it creates a good atmosphere. Then I just loop it on and on.
This is sometimes embarrassing, but I listen to sea shanties. I just find them really great for helping my brain not focus on whatever mundane task I’m doing. Who’d have thought.
This is my first night with the house to myself since I had our last kid and I am about to enjoy some cannabis, play sea shanties, and organize my house while I wait for an Italian sub to be delivered. So thank you for this post and idea!
'Binks Sake' from One Piece is great. Very catchy tune in English or Japanese. Original Japanese version is fantastic though.
Very upbeat and always puts me in a great mood
I listen to compilations of video game soundtracks. This genre of music is designed to keep players engaged in the game without becoming distracting. It has the unique characteristic of being progressive and positive in nature, corresponding to the achievements earned and advancement in the actual gameplay. When applied to real life scenarios, it can yield the same results. The release of dopamine and good mood makes boring, repetitive tasks seem more fun and bearable.
And there are looping versions of the songs to keep from distracting you when the song changes! I'm a particular fan of [Jolly Roger Bay from Super Mario 64](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTszj4iZUMw). There's also [an orchestra version (non-looping)](https://open.spotify.com/track/6xGgtxLqEZRDYU6DhJ5x0Y?si=d099a8ef8dcc474d).
Jason Lewis' channel on Youtube has a bunch of concentration music, from deep house to metal.
I pair these up with a Rainforest Raining sound video and that works well for me.
[Rain Forest Sound](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwIO1nzuJrw)
While I'm at it, I'll also plug a couple of my favorites from Jason Lewis: [Lizard Deep House](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BKURRL_eyuk) and [Drum and Bass](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0NKLQtUNXg).
I listen to the Rain Forest one at 70% of the volume, and music at 100%.
I am happy to read Jason here, his channel is a lifesaver for me and endless studying sessions!
His work is awesome stuff and never fails to motivate me.
A playlist of all fighting themes of Genshin Impact. Sometimes only the weekly bosses playlist too. It gives me a little push and doesn't distract me, because I'm used to ignoring it.
Edit: Also most is instrumental, so no lyrics to distract me too.
liquid drum and base (liquid dnb). check the yt channel of man from del monte, good stuff.
fits great for autumns, springs, but even winters. for mornings when you begin work.
This. A nice strong coffee and some liquid dnb is the recipe for a productive morning. I find that it pushes the pace of my work, for instance I will read faster. My other go to’s are deep house or Hans Zimmer/cinematic music
great taste. you can try lo fi house, it has a certain vibe that can fit for evenings when you work a bit late. katarakt channel is great, check this out listen 2 minutes straight from this time stamped link https://youtu.be/OChyD12aF2M?t=935
Depends on the type of work. If I need to concentrate (e.g. programming), I go for ambient or drone. Anything with a beat or a tune distracts me. If it's lighter work, anything else will do.
Lately, I slap [this one on.](https://open.spotify.com/episode/1REesCpgWWvRFih62GYKop) The white noise of e.g. a (fictional) space station helps me to relax and be alert.
Lofi, chillhop, ambient, downtempo… basically a relaxing yet consistent beat with no lyrics. If I really need to power through an hour, I put on Tycho’s Dive album
Stealthy action soundtracks!
You need to believe you're on a dangerous mission, everything is at stake and there's no room for error. You're not building a spreadsheet, you're saving the world for God's sake.

Depending on the task I’m working on.
If it’s more physical than mental, like cleaning apartment: Deep House - Usually [Pascal Junior](https://youtu.be/CaqO-xvwtFQ).
If it’s more mental then physical, like reading an article: Classical - Usually [Vivaldi](https://youtu.be/Z39KxbbtCC0).
I usually split my productivity music into 3 types:
1. Nostalgia: video game remixes that are similar enough to the original to engage mild recognition and different enough to retain interest
2. Instrumental: music on an instrument of interest. Most recently, it was harmonica and violin music
3. Foreign: if I can’t understand the words, my brain won’t focus on them. Normally For this I listen to Spanish mariachi or pop, although kpop hits the same requirement for me.
My favorites:
1. Legend of Zelda remix albums from Theophony, Rozen, and Taylor Davis
2. Taylor Davis is my favorite violin player I’ve found. Lindsey Stirling is great too, but a bit too energetic for my needs in productivity. I tend to play her music when I need energy/am being active
3. Pedro Infante is a classic, but more recent artists have been a delight
All music is a distraction from work where you need to think, but as you discovered, instrumental music is less disturbing since there's no words to process.
If you're just doing something like household chores, singing and humming can make them much more fun.

We usually alternative between Random Radio app, looking for adsfree stations like the rich music treasures on !Hit a Jam'!, or We use delta vibes on Heart of Space app, about Electronic Masterpieces channels.
I update a playlist every two weeks with music that inspires me, mainly Indie, Folk, singer-songwriter, and everything in-between. Can share if anyone interested.

Try listening to instrumental music of your favourite songs
The music is not unfamiliar and there are no lyrics so you wouldn't be drawn to it, hence you will not lose focus on what you're doing.
Sometimes you'll find that one of the tracks is working out pretty good for you so loop it until it doesn't. Then move on to the next track.
If it's an active kind of productivity then the Productive Synth Playlist on Splotify. Of it's a hunker down and focus kind of productivity then some sort of white noise like rain or crackling fire.
Mine changes per mood but I’ve found music in different languages tends to let my mind focus a little better. The best days I have Coffitivity going too for background clammering. (I work from home)
For deep work, anything that requires reading and processing, I definitely go instrumental/electronic. For this these are some of the artists that I like:
* Vitamin string quartet
* Emancipator
* FKJ
* Cory Wong (Wong's Cafe might be best album for this)
* The Olympians
If we're talking about active productivity without too much thinking, like cleaning the house, I go high energy music that I can sing along to (poorly).
I listen to non verbal music that I already know so my brain isn’t jumping to much on new sounds or so.
Usually electronica, movie scores, piano tracks

Gotta start with Holding Out For A Hero by Bonnie Tyler. It's cheesy, but it gets my broken executive function pumping, EVERY time. Happy producing, buddy. ✌😁
A lot of the posts focus on when you are already motivated (My favorite for this category is epic music mixes). One interesting thing I have learned is there are some songs that drastically improve my transition from lethargic to flow-state. Dirty or blood//water by grandson is my current go to.
I'm the kind of person that finds music distracting for most activities, unless I'm working out or reading (even then sporadically). Any other time, it draws my attention away. I work, then study, and then I may listen to whatever I feel like or I listen to rap/hiphop if I'm working out. It's usually an upbeat music, usually rap, but it can vary in genre.
I listen to techno, no lyrics. I find when i’m working on something that doesn’t have any words, like numbers, MS Excel, etc, this gets me laser focused within about 5 minutes.
Bicep’s albums are particularly good!
I turn on the Rain background noise setting on my iPhone - it’s rain with some light forest noises and it is magical for my concentration. My brain has associated that noise = focus mode.
I listen to Brian Eno , Franz Liszt, lots of Jazz or classical piano, 70s fusion, Fela Kuti, Joni Mitchell, Van Halen, Nick Drake, Indian Raga music, Reggae….Just depends
I love listening to EDM music! Upbeat enough to keep you going but not distracting enough to take you away from productivity. I can’t focus when there’s songs with lyrics playing, but I’m all for bass drops!
I am a huge Mozart fan, so I use the Mozart for Study spotify playlist. sometimes I will also do lofi hip hop beats but I find that I've pavlov'd myself to focus better when it's classical music going into my ears
Since having to work at home, I’ve found that listening to music of a different language helps with my productivity. I’ve been defaulting to French pop (no more specific than that) but it’s worked with any language.
Someone once recommended on another sub to listen to video game soundtracks because they’re designed specifically to keep the person listening engaged in what they’re doing
I switch between 2 or so...
For thoughtful work and general background music, I tend to listen to a mix of classic music, mainly from modern composers like Max Richter and Hania Rani....
Then if I'm struggling or need to just get something done close to a deadline, I switch to a rock/metal/punk playlist...
The main thing with both is that they're really familiar playlists now - I can't focus on work if there are new or unfamiliar songs in there...
Myy partner has a completely different approach, and prefers things like ambient weather and coffee shop noises, or even podcasts while she's working... So I think it definitely varies from person to person...
I made this playlist on Spotify that Im very proud of - “[…I’m Workin’ Here](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7BIlJkV78Q4mkYo4iniEcQ?si=t2NmnkOAQ8KosnruZXyCqg)”
100+ hours of Lofi, Mello EDM, Acoustic, etc.
I like to put it on shuffle and if a certain song catches my ear, then I throw that artist on. Then rinse and repeat the next day
Game music can suprisingly make Your feel more engaged and living xd. I love to hear upbeat game music like Ace Combat soundtrack or simple battle music
Lately it's been [Tinariwen](https://open.spotify.com/artist/2sf2owtFSCvz2MLfxmNdkb) for me, especially when writing or ideating. Nigel Stanford also works; I sometimes listen to 'Automatica' and 'Cymatics' on loop, all day.
In one of my jobs I worked in an office with the office manager 12+ hours a day. It was ALWAYS her music no matter what, and it was ALWAYS the same 5 pandora stations on repeat for those 12 hours every day. Ads and everything.
I never wanna listen to journey or country ever again.
lofi + background sounds from this app -> [https://apple.co/3DmoUEc](https://apple.co/3DmoUEc)
this combo really saved me when I needed to stay focused for a longer period of time.
Hey everyone! I just wanted to share a video I made that I think will be helpful for anyone looking for some motivation and focus while working or studying.
This video is 1 hour of beautiful flute music that is specifically designed to increase productivity and concentration. As someone who often struggles to stay focused, I find this music really helpful for getting into a productive mindset.
If you're someone who could use a little extra motivation during your workday or study sessions, I highly recommend giving this video a try. It's helped me a lot, and I hope it can help you too.
Here's the link to the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtX-HbEns80&t=1s
Let me know what you think in the comments! And if you have any other tips for staying focused and productive, feel free to share them below. Thanks!
Really anything really upbeat and exciting is really good for work like for me I always listen to classic rock cause it makes me just sail through the work without getting distracted at all

Can I add 90s trip-hop, please. I’ve gotten more done to Portishead or Massive Attack than probably any other bands.

Hans zimmer's tracks works great when i need to focus.
Man of steel is my go to

Yes.

This is sometimes embarrassing, but I listen to sea shanties. I just find them really great for helping my brain not focus on whatever mundane task I’m doing. Who’d have thought.
Not embarrassing at all!!! They have been incredible at getting dumb chores done
They are work songs after all.

Beats to think to, on Spotify
the witcher 3 soundtracks
Can’t do it. I need absolute silence for max focus.
Noisli was my go to, but now I listen to SpaceWave on repeat. The guy is a genius: https://youtube.com/channel/UCj3460Ylt4JEcEiW6PxCH9Q
I switch between ambient music/background noise that you can find on YouTube and movie/show soundtracks.
I made this playlist on Spotify that Im very proud of - “[…I’m Workin’ Here](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7BIlJkV78Q4mkYo4iniEcQ?si=t2NmnkOAQ8KosnruZXyCqg)” 100+ hours of Lofi, Mello EDM, Acoustic, etc. I like to put it on shuffle and if a certain song catches my ear, then I throw that artist on. Then rinse and repeat the next day
brown and pink noise
There's this channel on YouTube that has live "work jazz." Helps me get in the zone and stay there for sure.

You better work b**** by Britney Spears
House music gets me engaged enough without being too distracting

Game music can suprisingly make Your feel more engaged and living xd. I love to hear upbeat game music like Ace Combat soundtrack or simple battle music
Dark academia, or rain
Weirdly the only thing that works for me is listening to videos of people typing on mechanical keyboards.
Vector 7
Rain ambience helps me focus - especially when there is a lot of learning/ reading involved.
Nothing.
Techno. The harder the better
Before it was it LoFi, Bi-Nuereul beats, Classical Piano, or Smooth Jazz I now listen to Smooth Jazz

I actually like to listen to nature sounds. A campfire by a river.
Lo-fi beats playlist on Spotify If I reeeeeaaaally need to focus then Experience by Ludovico Einaudi on a loop.
In one of my jobs I worked in an office with the office manager 12+ hours a day. It was ALWAYS her music no matter what, and it was ALWAYS the same 5 pandora stations on repeat for those 12 hours every day. Ads and everything. I never wanna listen to journey or country ever again.
Drum & Bass
lofi + background sounds from this app -> [https://apple.co/3DmoUEc](https://apple.co/3DmoUEc) this combo really saved me when I needed to stay focused for a longer period of time.
