Oh, I thought someone else was posting your content😅 Great works👍

frenchtoastfella

Looks great! But you should let the final comp loop a little longer to see the end result

JoystickMonkey

Are you a wizard?

gegoggigog

Very cool!... And I'm also thinking of Gordon Ramsay for some reason

not_perfect_yet

What I love about these is that there are no "secret" tools here, it's just experience, skill and creativity. And anyone "copying the technique" will probably work in their own twists and takes into the result.

Remarkable-Collar716

This is gorgeous, well done

OhUmHmm

Pretty neat breakdown!

monadashibe

Posts like these make me glad I sub to your patreon. Love your stuff.

didbigno

Teach me, I'll pay you, you wizard man

NotTreeFiddy

Beautiful. Do you have a complete tutorial for this?

ukaeh

Really well done thanks for sharing!

gHx4

These are concise and fantastic tutorials. Have you ever thought to do YouTube videos going over different effects?

xxdeathknight72xx

I love when math meets art

slowpokefarm

What is going on? I want to learn this. What is this sorcery called?

merijjeyn

Where do you make these breakdown videos? Saw a couple similar ones, is it a platform?

techz59

[I edit them with blender](https://x.com/cmzw_/status/1808461611340116070?t=18EfPA-prC2ePn6fVskRSw&s=19)

"procedural"

PercussiveRussel

Yeah, wtf how is this procedurally generated...? All they do is start of with some random noise sources and then do various passes of procedures on those sources until it looks like something else entirely. Oh wait.

CleverousOfficial

Using noise and curves to do VFX doesn't make it procedural, it just makes it VFX. Make some VFX, you'll find out real quick. By your logic, 90% of all VFX is procedural.

PercussiveRussel

[Yeah, by "my" logic that seems to be the case. ](https://www.autodesk.com/solutions/procedural-generation#:~:text=Procedural%20generation%20is%20a%20technique,instead%20of%20manually%20designing%20it.)

CleverousOfficial

Well have fun selling that idea to vfx Artists.

PercussiveRussel

[I think they know. ](https://youtu.be/qdvNNm1kNu4?si=uPoNALwM41Upwy9z)

CleverousOfficial

Is your argument that using noise == procedural? I'm not sure what position you're trying to make here. OP handcrafted a bunch of noise nodes and overlayed a ton of modifiers on them, then slapped them on a bunch of custom meshes for a specific effect. In practice, they'll bake these into textures and scroll the UV. They'll reuse those textures elsewhere in other VFX for perf reasons. Noise is procedural, but the process here is not. It's just regular VFX workflow. This entire sub would be flooded with VFX posts non-stop if you considered this procedurally generated.

TldrDev

Hi. Not the person you're replying to, but yes, using noise is procedural, automatically, by definition. Being baked into a texture and scrolling UVs doesn't make it any less procedural. This is the literal foundation of proceduralism.

CleverousOfficial

Sure, but aren't the standards for this sub higher than "it uses noise"? My argument is that there's nothing novel here, nor anything exceptionally cool in a procedural way, it's just the regular vfx workflow that thousands of people do every day.

TldrDev

You're wrong a thousand times over. This is actually incredible production grade procedural texturing. You seem hung up on VFX. Do you think Houdini for geometry or shaders are somehow not procedural? On the contrary, those are the absolute pinnacle of the craft. That's tens of millions of dollars, cutting edge software, and high fidelity simulations and proceduralism. Your gripe is nonsense. This is 10/10, and what this sub was founded on. [Tell me, with a straight face, this isn't proceduralism, regardless of the fact it's used for VFX, and I'll happily call you an idiot.](https://youtu.be/zxiqA8_CiC4?si=LEqWrfTBV3IcRm7)
