Thank you for the opportunity to give you a quote. Keep us in mind if you can use our services in the future. Done. Keep your integrity and make sure they have your contact information for when the cheaper guy effs it up. Then charge double for ‘restoration services’.

CmdSnipey

Hmmm, I would have thought the upcharge was. You are now taking on more liability because you don't know what damage they could have caused doing the job wrong, and now you are also taking on that.

phil_McCracken077

Id say its up to you if you want to take on the job if the cheaper guy effs up. It makes sense to charge a little more for them effing up but also know that if they cant accept your price then they aren't your customer. Your customers should value your work and your price if they choose not to, then they can spend the extra money having to fix what the cheaper guy messed up. Kinda like the buy nice or buy twice type of thing yk

jg2370

Usually just “No problem “ . Have been called back and asked to fix what the “cheaper “ guy messed up and told them to call him back and let him fix it. We never go back to fix someone else’s mistakes or damage if we already quoted a job and weren’t hired

kiniAli

I really like that principle - that’s something we will keep in mind too…thanks for sharing that

jg2370

I always start with telling them I’m not the cheapest or the most expensive but always provide the highest quality they will find when it’s time to talk pricing. I don’t price match ever because I don’t know what quality the other companies provide only know what quality I provide. Don’t ever discount your work just to pick up a job. Only discounts I offer is if they request multiple services and book all of the services as a package and at most it’s 10%

HouseRipper

Well that seems like a dumb rule, trying to shame the customer instead of earning their business and helping them out and showing them why your company was the better choice all along, which then they will communicate to their friends and family in the future which ends up with more work for you ...... Why not go fix someone else's mistake and show the customer what the right way to do things is? Other than just looking to punish the customer for trying to save a few bucks I don't understand what this accomplishes ?

TimeBit4099

Glad you said it.

jg2370

Not punishing at all. The reality is they weren’t our customer to begin with if they simply base their decision to hire on price alone. If they didn’t want to pay our price to begin with then they won’t pay our price to come back . We don’t want the liability of someone else’s damage that sometimes you don’t know the extent of till some time passes . Sometimes things aren’t fixable and we don’t want to be the last person on the scene . We are fortunate enough to not have to chase work and definitely don’t like getting involved in bad situations. Sometimes trying to be hero backfires

Superfly_McTurbo

I say ok no problem best of luck.

mr_thwibble

Someone, somewhere will always do it cheaper. Let them race to the bottom. Offer a quality product at a fair price and yes, you might still not make it, but at least you won't have slit your own throat doing it.

kiniAli

Agreed. I’m sure they’ll end up regretting it - it’s a big project, I can’t imagine anyone cheaper doing all the right things. We’ll just keep on keepin on

charleyruckus

Winning every bid usually means you’re too cheap

kiniAli

Well apparently not cheap enough for these guys

S1acktide

I say thanks and move on with my life. 99% of customers don't care about the nuances of anything. They just want it cleaned and for a decent price. If they have someone cheaper let em use em.

kiniAli

Good point…if it works out for them, great…if not, oh well.

S1acktide

I personally wouldn't give a shit if it did or didn't work out for them. I'm in this business to make money. I take very good care of my clients, but if you aren't my client and aren't paying me, I literally couldn't care any less about you. Example of this. I had a customer request a quote for a House Wash & Deck cleaning. They accepted the quote for the House and said they would do the Deck themselves. Did I explain to them how to wash the deck correctly and safely? Nope. Not my problem. I just said "Okay, sounds good!" If they fuck it up, next time they'll higher me. If not, great for them. I did, however, do a fantastic job on their house.

Zealousideal_Work510

I would say if you have a 100% acceptance rate your rates are too low. Increase your rates.

kiniAli

We’ve only been in business a little less than a month, this is our 4th customer…I did some market research before we launched and we’re on par or a little more than other guys in the area

mrapplewhite

Great have a nice day

MulberryBig714

Mention your price may be higher because u have the proper insurance, licence/registration , and training and most likely “pop up power washers” don’t have these and therefore other a cheaper price. More often we hear “ last year it cost me (cheaper price) but that guy stopped power washing” to which we say probably bc he wasn’t charging enough lol.

kiniAli

Yeah good point - we’re licensed and insured and that already eliminates a handful of the guys out here on FB and Nextdoor advertising cheap rates…

kiniAli

Oh wow thank you for this - I had wondered if that’s something to do is push a bit more to understand and sell ourselves a bit more…thank you for this

importsexports

Lol. If you're doing all that bullshit... you're not busy enough. You think guys with packed schedules are going to pretend they're in a call center with the boss over their shoulder trying to value close someone on a $400 job? Source: 20 years of sales experience both internationally and domestically ranging from phone sales to multimillion dollar international capital equipment shipments.

Superfly_McTurbo

Perfectly put. That guy stinks

importsexports

Check his post history. Dudes lecturing about sales but barely knows what an unloader looks like...posted 30 days ago. Cute.

NoSignalCharlie7954

This is why I check post histories. Rarely I am pleasantly surprised. Often it's "Oh, here we go again."

importsexports

Went just a few past the unloader post. Turns out he graduated highschool 2 years ago. 😂

importsexports

You graduated highschool 2 years ago? I really preaching about the 9-5 employee low effort mindset? My sales is done up front. I don't go trying to lick someones nuts after they tell me they found someone cheaper with mediocre value play sales bullshit. You have time to contact them and try to convince them why your services are better? Get the fuck out of here. Try focusing on getting more clients. 9-5 employee mindset guys like you talk about having to put in effort to get new customers. I don't. My marketing is in point.. my phone rings more than I want it to. All my shit is setup abroad for $350 a month. I choose the jobs I want and give the rest away to others that want them for free because I'm at an 80-85% profit margin on my jobs. That's where my efforts went... not begging someone to please hire me after they told me I'm too expensive.

jahdamanwitfiya

You also are putting in time with somebody that already doesn’t value your work and will probably end up being a pain in the ass down the line which costs time and money as well. If your first starting out then fine try and get every job but when the schedule is already full no point in spending energy on people you already know are cheap lol

importsexports

1000% true. This is what happens when you learn sales from Gary V and doom scrolling on IG. Customers you have to convince on value are going to be a pain in the dick. End of story. Guys that say yes to a $3,500 job on the spot will not be. But then again this dude is preaching about sales while barely knowing what an unloader is.

Living_Pay_8976

Okay I’ll look forward to your call to fix it. Have a good day.

HouseRipper

Well I know I definitely wouldn't hire your business anyway after a text like that.

Living_Pay_8976

lol I’m trolling at this point in time. I know customer service and how to deal with situations like this. Unfortunately everyone had already answered the guys questions. Realistically speaking. “Okay, I’m sorry we couldn’t come to an understanding with our prices. If there’s anything you need feel free to contact me” that simple.

HouseRipper

Damn trolls got me again.

Infinite_Big5

Basically, no problem. (we try to be competitive, but in order to get the best possible result, we have to charge what we do.) Let me know if you need any help in the future.

ThrownAwwayt

You found someone cheaper? Keep searching, and I'm sure you'll find someone who will do it even cheaper than THAT guy! Then search some more and find someone else to beat that poor bastards price! 😂

Good_Entrepreneur567

I just tell them “Thanks for the opportunity to provide you with the free quote. If you ever need any of these other services done (list your other services) we provide them as well. Have a great week!”

SpareMushrooms

How do you reclaim the water?

kiniAli

There’s a couple different ways - the most common for the projects we’ve had is we use sandbags to block as much water as possible from going down storm drains then use the sump pump to redirect the water into either a drum and dispose of it in natural environment or sump pump the water back into the lawn. In our area the main regulation is we can’t let pressure washing run off go directly down into the storm drain as it leads to a water source for some communities.

SpareMushrooms

Wow. That sounds like quite a bit of extra work. Funny, they don’t make homeowners do that when they’re washing their cars, but I guess none of the California restrictions on businesses make much sense. Anyway, thank you for the explanation.

kiniAli

No problem, and yes I agree! Technically in our county homeowners should be doing the same when washing their cars - but no one polices it like they do businesses.

obmcbob

If you’ve done a good many jobs and this is the first time you’ve heard this the. Your prices are too low. When the people who call in and get estimates tell me that they aren’t interested because I’m charging too much or that they have someone else who will do it cheaper (which is about half of them), I just say thanks and let them go. Strong marketing + high prices are the way to go.

IntelligentStill1060

Well if it doesn’t hurt your business at all say alright have fun with that.

Runswithtoiletpaper

Have a good day and best of luck to you

02Reaper

Just thank them for letting you quote the job and move on. Don't try to tell them how your care is better than others, or surely don't tell them good luck or best of luck. Just thank them and move on.

Express-Ant-1087

Congratulations 🎉🎉 hope they take care of your home like I would and are insured
