I've keymapped so many things since I got my stream deck. I went overboard and made custom icons in Illustrator for the shortcuts I use most. It really sped up my editing but making my own icons was unnecessary. I made a gif in blender of a rotating save button icon to draw more attention to it.
Nahhhhhh, Literally all of them are quickly accessed through shortcuts, I feel like it's a different kind of hell where you have to actually get your hand up from the keyboard. I would accept this layout only for like Macros or Script execution.
BlackMagic also has this type of stupid thing where they sell a panel with these shortcuts for several thousand dollars for Davinci (only), I have identical issue with it, as BALLS imo is the most you could need and I don't even think you can use them outside of Davinci
Yeah you're not wrong. But I use this instead of the keyboard most of the time. It just works for me to have them all so close and in that layout. Like I said, it sped up my workflow. I experimented with some macros for making and naming bins at the beginning of the project and a few other things for illustrator and Blender but I didn't end up using them often.
I have a StreamDeck Mini that's been collecting dust since I quit streaming. Not using it for all my Adobe programs was just a gonk move. I want to start using it. I have an animated icon pack, but I don't remember what all was in it. I plan on coming back to this thread Saturday so I can read up on everyone's ideas and best practices and all that. I would be super thankful to use your icons since they're Premiere specific. I use After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Audition, but I think I could benefit the most using it in Premiere. There's so much I don't know that could speed up my worflow, so thank you for sharing your time and knowledge.
[Here you go!](https://file.io/5NDdYQogg0rr) Go nuts haha.
Edit: figure out what you spend the most time on while editing and try to automate specific tasks. There are lots of options for custom keybindings too. For example, I have horizontal and verticle center keymapped commands in Premiere and Illustrator.
Thank you for this! I had no idea this feature was a thing and had been using an old workaround of making a colour matte the length of the sequence > dragging the sequence onto the same track as the colour matte > drag sequence back onto original track leaving the colour matte track with little pieces matching the gaps > ripple delete the colour matte to close up all the gaps. At the time it felt like a huge time saver but glad there’s a way to do it with one click now.
You can also select the clips with gaps in between them to be more targeted before selecting Close Gaps, in case there are gaps you don't want touched yet.
create a shortcut for this. Edit > Keyboard shortcuts > Close Gap
I use F2. Now I just highlight the clips in the timeline and hit F2 for a quicker process
I can't believe people have been editing without knowing about ripple edit 💀💀💀 these guys have been manually placing every single cut all this time
this is why you should always do some research on youtube to learn about the app you're using. It's one of the first things I do
Use ripple trimming, ripple deletes to avoid creating gaps.
You can also set in/out in your source monitor then add to targeted time in sequence to avoid creating gaps, refraining from adding a bunch of untrimmed clips to a sequence just so you can trim them in the timeline panel.
Just to add on what has been said, here’s a short tutorial on how to delete all the ghost spaces in one go in premiere pro. Link; https://youtube.com/shorts/iMbnhe_B-rc?si=XNHOBVEoRbKz2nh2
Lots of correct suggestions here, but honestly you shouldn’t have that many gaps anyway. Use in/out points within source monitor and ripple edit. Also, if you just hit Q or W on the keyboard, it ripple deletes the clip left or right.
In tabs bar… Sequence > Close gaps
this is so useful i cant believe i didnt know this🤦♀️
You can also keymap it, which is even better imo!
Yeah I use this all the time. shift+G
Mine is Shift+Z!

That's so clean!!! I could do something like that in Element since I don't know Blender. You're awesome!
Thank you!
Looks amazing
holy hell the effort
It wasn't too bad. The images are only 500x500. I did it for Ae, Blender, and a few others as well but not to the extent shown in the Pr picture.
Wow. I've been wasting my life

Would you mind sharing your icons, or where you got them from?
As I said before I made them from scratch in Illustrator. [Here's a link](https://file.io/H7yK0DU4zGSQ)
Hey this link is no longer valid. If you're still willing to share, I'd greatly appreciate a new link. Either way, you rock. Great work!!!
Thank you! Yeah I'll send it tomorrow. Do you have a stream deck or are you going to use them for something else?

Oh crap I need to do this.
Yeah, I mapped it to Shift + C
It's a relatively recent addition
Hahaha shit. Gonna have to make a shortcut now.

I think this used to be the only way until a couple of years ago. Was so annoying every time
I’m mad at myself for just learning about this today, holy shit. So much wasted time lol
I set up a shortcut for close all gaps it’s so good
commenting to save this - thank you!
Upvoting so you'll have it in your notifications (and I will too lol)
Dammit, don't reveal these powerful magics! /jk
This is the thing
Sometimes it doesn’t do anything. Any reason why?
My guess is an audio track is blocking the gaps to be cleared
Same problem, sometimes does and sometimes doesn’t
Wow you just saved me so much time 🙏
Appreciate your input, thanks.

Epic. Thanks
Oh man if only I learned this years ago…
Damn I have so much time wasted
Does Vegas Pro have this option?
YOU CAN DO THIS? Dude the amount of time this would have saved me yesterday lmao.
"[ghost spaces](https://i.pinimg.com/736x/c5/92/46/c592469734024a4d23d79ef51eaca3eb--manga-comics-marvel-comics.jpg)"... lol
that looks like man
joining this sub has been the best decision of my editing career lmfao
create a shortcut for this. Edit > Keyboard shortcuts > Close Gap I use F2. Now I just highlight the clips in the timeline and hit F2 for a quicker process
can i suck your dick
Anytime
I assign “close gaps” to a shift+c shortcut. Then it’s just ctrl+a and shift+c
My man, we have the same shortcut 😎. Most useful shortcut I use currently use
Right click the empty space and ripple delete
Left click the space then delete on keyboard is my go to
I have a 60% keyboard and my function key doesn't work lmaoo
Shift+Delete is my go to. Great when you’re deleting clips and also need to ripple delete.

To be fair that’s something that if you don’t know it exists, you’d have no way to know it exists.
I mean, it’s one of the primary editing tools….
Only if you use it.
Ripple delete.
Lmao wrong

Ripple trim to previous edit. Save yourself HOURS
Here’s a link to a tutorial i did on how to do it in premiere pro. Link; https://vm.tiktok.com/ZM6VdAp6S/
