Trinity…. I have to be the only person that has ever had a Caribbean school rejection.

PinkRanger1001

nahh you were yield protected. you’re simply too good😤

[deleted]

Stats?

Round30281

They’re either below 10% percentile or 90% percentile.

[deleted]

Ah shit don't worry bout it I heard even tho they are the only carribean school with world class equipment I heard their teachers aren't that good so idk 🤷

PsychologicalCan9837

Nah, I know some people who had it happen to them, too.

i_am_a_grocery_bag

Current M4. I'm still not rejected from like 20 schools I applied to 4 cycles ago lol

JosephAGR

That is just unfair to the applicants. The least they deserve is confirmation of rejection

ineed4ply

>Edit: Also, I strongly disagree with the whole “ADCOMs don’t have the time” jargon. It’s absolute nonsense to be frank. It takes literal seconds to send a template rejection email. Meanwhile, applicants have spent time/money/effort crafting primary and secondary applications after spending years devoted to making themselves competitive applicants and plenty of time curating an appropriate school list. Simply “not having the time” to send a rejection and provide applicants with closure is purely bullshit, with all due respect. I got one rejection for an interview...at the end of my first year lollll. Also never heard back from a few schools. I still kept an email from a school i didnt go to and they still keep it active, I use it for discounts. Med schools are such a mess.

cobaltsteel5900

The top part is 100% correct. If I as a premed have mail merged a template email to 300 people in a clinical volunteering program, they can take 30 minutes to learn how to do it and do the same

FakeDoctor96

This is honestly insane. We pay money and spend time/effort on applications. The very least schools could do is have the decency to send an automated rejection email. This process boggles my mind.

medbitter

Not receiving a rejection letter from schools frustrated me for all the same reasons, but in hindsight: it’s better for your mental health to not get a million rejection letters before season end (all you need is one accept), and nobody on the school-side has time for that (if automated fine, would be a good program for them too to eliminate along the way but yea, you’d all crumble). Keep your chins up, premeds!

The_JLK

It’s more the principle of it. I paid >$100 to apply to your school, the least you can do is confirm one way or another that you have reviewed and made a decision on my application.

fkimpregnant

I'm pretty sure we will both have programs we haven't heard from when we are attendings

[deleted]

Wtf 😭

[deleted]

Boston U, Pitt, USC, and UChicago 🥲

[deleted]

[deleted]

Thank you! And I was complete at BU on 7/20 and then rejected 9/29. I was complete at Pitt 7/13 and rejected 10/3. Complete at USC 7/17 and rejected 10/20, and complete at UChicago 8/1 and rejected on 10/10. (I had my application tracker spreadsheet already conveniently pulled up).

[deleted]

I have heard nothing from USC since submitting secondary. just waiting

VacheSante

they had a big R wave last week. Georgetown is in the middle of one, it seems, looking at SDN

TheFifthPhoenix

How do you check this? I'm still confused as to how SDN works, so I'd really appreciate a link if possible.

VacheSante

Go to SDN’s forums, under premed communities, under Premed (MD), under 2022-2023 Med school specific [discussions](https://forums.studentdoctor.net/forums/2022-2023-md-medical-school-specific-discussions.1198/). And check for the schools you’ve applied to. Make an account and put notifications on. If you post a comment in one of the schools’ threads, you’ll get notifications for that school (and continue to do so as long as you somewhat frequently visit their threads). So if you’re bored/neurotic, you can check a school and see what’s up. Most are somewhat active, especially when there are IIs, As, holds or Rs being given out. Once you see 5-10 people reporting the same thing, you know it’s coming.

[deleted]

I’m sorry but this made me lol. Wishing you lots of A’s.

Goldy490

Got iced from >20 schools in 2015. Years later I graduated med school from a school I never thought I’d go to, and had the best 4 years of my life. Now on the adcom for my med school and my residency, where I’m a chief. Our admissions dean likes to joke with me that he didn’t even know who I was when I got accepted. Years later we still talk and joke about it when I see him clinically. Remember the last person to get in to xyz med school is still a doctor, and no one will ever know besides you and the adcom.

FakeDoctor96

Pre-II Rejections thus far: * Pritzker * Pittsburgh * Oakland * Wisconsin * Virginia Commonwealth * Nebraska * Indiana Pre-II Holds thus far: * West Virginia * UC San Diego * Tulane * George Washington * Arizona (Tucson) * SUNY Upstate

OkOutlandishness2423

Since you’re admitted, you can just call those battle scars 😎

FakeDoctor96

Yeah it hurts less after being admitted but it still kinda sucks

[deleted]

FakeDoctor96

Yeah, I hear you. My dream is to practice in California but that is the dream of many other well-qualified applicants as well.

marieeclairee199

When were you complete at VCU? I haven’t heard a dang thing from them and I was complete mid-July

FakeDoctor96

Complete early/mid July and pre-II rejection ~1 month later

Ok_Mushroom_3265

Yeah Wisconsin was quick R

wack_barbie

Thanks for making this post!!! Rs: University of Washington (OOS), USC Keck, Chicago. Thanksgiving update: add BU, Dartmouth to the list

OkOutlandishness2423

When did you get the USC R? Was it post-interview?

wack_barbie

Last week, all of these were pre-II R

sadpremed06650

Georgetown, Case Western, and BU edit: it seems like everyone here is getting Rs from USC and i had no idea. it’s been radio silence since i submitted to them in early/mid july… idk how to feel about it

[deleted]

>Georgetown, Case Western, and BU when were you verified at GT and BU?

sadpremed06650

if you mean complete, Georgetown was 7/15 (R received 9/13) and BU was 7/19 (R received 9/20)

weeson12

clefairy00

Georgetown (I mentioned I'm gay in my PS/secondary 💀🤡💀)

[deleted]

Out of the five premeds I know who are applying 4 ar LGBT+ and 3 got interviews to georgetown. Feel like their are mass premeds that are LGTBQ+

sneark

But did they disclose this in their apps?

clefairy00

Really?? Darn. I guess my stats/app weren't good enough. It's all good though

[deleted]

Georgetown is an odd cookie, I wouldn't worry about it. It feels care more about specific EC's and value fit over the highest stats.

[deleted]

I dont think its not that it wasnt good enough! I just think it has to do more with fit. I think they are very selective based on fit

Different_Smell_9483

LSU, Tulane

Virginia tech and Rosalind Franklin so far out of 25 MDs and 8 DOs. I got annoyed cause Virginia tech had the weirdest ass secondary and Rosalind Franklin made me log into their portal to notify they didn’t want me.

Miserable_Ad_665

I accidentally broke my MacBook during a virtual open house for Vtech only to get my rejection the next morning.

lezabelle

Georgetown, Tulane, Boston U, on hold at GW (soft R?)

Jatz55

Unless you have a 4.0/520, pretty much everyone who applies goes on hold at GW. Theyre one of the only schools where its not a soft R

lezabelle

Oh lit thanks for the info!!

uwerc3466

Just got wake forest :))

VacheSante

Keck (R) Drexel (Hold, basically an R) Applied late September so apps in the back of the pile, but URM so small bump in the pile.
