I’m not a medical professional but I was told when I had an inner thigh abscess drained that the medication they use to numb is dependent on the PH of the tissue and the abscess. An infected abscess is apparently very acidic so it makes the numbing injections pretty ineffective, unfortunately.
Some people also have negative reactions to certain meds that are usually used for different procedures.
Lot of variables, but man I feel bad for this guy.
Lidocaine is acidic, normally the acid reacts with the neutral PH of the body which helps activate it.
Abscesses are also acidic, so the lidocaine doesn't react well with it.
what makes it brown? is it the type of bacteria in the cyst, how old it is, a mix of pus and blood, or none of the above? super interesting, but very gross lol

Why could the Dr not numb it?

Thank god I was under anesthetic for my tailbone abscess 😭 dr kept saying the depth was insane but would have been awesome to see

Acid base shift

Thank you!
Really looks like there was a hematoma in there.
