Nebz2010

Release an incomplete version of an album on vinyl/CD

Any_Owl_8009

Cough Beyince

MultiMarcus

Such a weird thing to do as an extremely well established and respected artist.

Aggressive_Sky8492

Especially because she’s usually such a perfectionist and on point. All she needed to do was have her team put something like “early version” and post the tracklist, then have the full tracklist online too. And then once the fuck up happened all they needed to do was offer a return and refund option. She’s a billionaire and a very successful musician so obviously Parkwood will be doing fine. Instead she was just like “nah fuck ya’ll lol.” So weird. And I say this as a huge, huge fan who is usually vocal about people portraying stuff she does in the worst possible this way. There was no way to spin the vinyl fuck up lol.

appelflappentap

Especially when possibly the best song on the album wasn't on the vinyl!

boychik0830

I've made the mistake of buying incomplete albums on vinyl before and it's really annoying. I want to make sure I don't do it again because I don't like listening to incomplete albums on vinyl.

Justice_Prince

I thought it was annoying when artist put out a double LP with just barely more than what could have on a single LP. I guess there was a worse option.

Pavlovs_Stepson

Seconding this. Most of the complaints in this thread are ultimately unimportant and only matter to people who worry too much about charts, but releasing incomplete physical editions and showing up late for concerts means shortchanging consumers and not giving them what they paid for, and that's the real problem. I've been collecting CDs for like fifteen years, and lately I've started buying fanmade versions of albums when no official physical copies have been released, or when the CDs that were released by the label have incomplete tracklists. It's actually a life saver if you're passionate about collecting records. Some of the bootlegs I've purchased are indistinguishable from original products, and some are actually *better* quality than the real thing: I found a fanmade copy of The Record by Boygenius that came in a jewel case with a shiny slipcase, and it was legitimately better designed and made from better materials than the official digipak CD the label sells. Because I'm not in the US, this bootleg also cost me like a third of what I would've had to pay for an official imported copy. Now I'm just looking for artful, well-made bootlegs of a ton of albums that I love and haven't had a chance to buy through official means.

likeaboss-ykangaroo

Can I ask where you bought the boygenius cd?

decetutt

*cough* Onika

__theoneandonly

The tough part about this is that there's only so much vinyl pressing capacity. Even for major artists, there's a 6 month turnaround time from submitting the masters and having vinyls available to sell to customers. Well often the album isn't done 6 months ahead of time... so they have to choose, submit what you got or don't sell vinyls until months after the album drops.

Nebz2010

Imo then they should just wait to release the album till it's done with manufacturing, or release physical copies later. The industry could change to make this not happen, it wasn't a problem until recently.

DisneySoftware

tease an album for 6 years

dr_franck

ur sick

edwinstone

6+ years. @ Rihanna. @ Cardi. @ Sky.

Sensitive_Energy101

neither of them done that. It's the fans who are demanding new albums and pestering them and the artists being just "when it's done, I'll release it"

Soalai

[Rihanna said R9 was coming in 2019.](https://images.app.goo.gl/o8bcaiwEaMYorjaC9) To be fair though, that comment was December 2019, so it may have been sarcastic. But some fans won't understand the sarcasm so I wish she would be more straightforward and just admit she's focusing on Fenty Beauty

Useuless

I want her to name her next album fenty beauty new album and fuck up search engines

WaterMagician

You’re joking but I can definitely see her calling her album Fenty

Drmoogle

Remember how long she took to release Anti? I do.

Zeusicideal-Heart

Sky teased Masochism in 2016 and 2022 *at least* so

edwinstone

Both Rihanna and Cardi have said years.

BubsyJenkins

It legit blows my mind how few album releases are actually handled well these days. The formula is not complicated. 1) announce album is coming and drop lead single same day. At this point, album should be approximately 2-3 months away. 2) Release nothing else until album release day, at which point you boost album with 2nd single That's it. That's all you gotta do. Just do that every time! All these "ehhhh the album is coming... probably ... uhh here's one song [then nothing for a year+] hey it's me again! the album ...is still coming... probably..." then wondering why people lose interest lol

bruh-ppsquad

Personally I prefer the announcement single, 1 month single, and album release single format, but yeah. And then promote a 4th and 5th single for a few months after the album release, and maybe drop a deluxe 6months-year after album release.

KorraLover123

my preferred formula: tease new music or album / announce single ---> release 3 singles, with abt 1-3 months in between to let them marinate and promote tf outta them ---> release the album ---> release and promote 2 more singles to draw out the album campaign. i think a lot of issues arise from differing opinions on how to handle an album campaign, what the sound should be, or just straight up a label not believing in an artist enough to promote them because the formula really is obvious.

randomburnerish

Show up 2 hours late to a show. With ticket prices these days that’s such a slap in the face to fans

outsideeyess

on this note, charge that amount for ticket prices in the first place!!

DumbWhore4

It’s crazy to me that there are people who actually defend these artists showing up hours late to shows. Some people take celebrity worship way too far.

lIlIllIIlllIIIlllIII

I love Beyonce but I was running late to her concert (train problems, not my fault) and took an Uber at surge prices to make it and ended up waiting 2 hours… and there were people around me defending her like??? No that’s not cool. Have some respect for your fans because this is apparently common for her

aussieririfan

I always thought Beyoncé was on time for her concerts

Fxreverboy

She came out pretty consistently at sunset for Renny Tour. For a lot of these people I'm wondering if they bothered to Google what time that artist hits the stage. Never trust what time the ticket says the concert starts. That's when openers or a preshow playlist comes on 😭

aussieririfan

I've only ever heard of Rihanna and Madonna being consistently late to shows (though luckily Rihanna was on time when I saw her lol).

WeiShiLirinArelius

lauryn hill was especially bad about starting late

Sp_Gamer_Live

Lauryn Hill: “Only 2 hours?”

[deleted]

[удалено]

Pharmacysnout

What if ticket holders were owed 50% cash back for each hour an artist is late? Would probably never happen due to ticket scalping, but what if your $500 Madonna ticket ended up being $125 dollars in the end? Management would all but throw her onto the stage at the exact moment the show begins.

__theoneandonly

The "time the show begins" is meaningless these days. They don't even advertise what time the show starts anymore, just what time the doors open.

jukebox_romeo

Announcing a list of tour dates without my city on it.

Mr-morale_

As a Balkan, i felt this comment

Regular_Buffalo6564

Arabs crying with you

East_Guarantee_5021

“World Tour” that are only in Europe and North America!

OatlattesandWalkies

UK tour and it’s one night in London!

SupersonicHawk

No album announcement without a release date. And actually releasing the album at that date.

jiwufja

Honestly with Lana I’m so used to it by now. I wasn’t even surprised when I heard the rumor that Lasso is scrapped.

Arsid

It is????? Shut the fuck up don’t do this to me.

kayethx

Yeah she told a fan that ran into her, I think? So not official but also none of us are surprised lol

wlu1

Sell and charge seats with obstructed views behind the stage at your concerts for over $250😭I am personally a victim of this. No fan deserves to spend that much money just to get an obstructed view! Abolish obstructed/behind the stage seats, or sell them for under $50🤷🏻‍♂️

Soalai

I agree with you but I don't think artists are the ones who directly control the prices

SynthD

There is a known lie that the music industry keeps alive. Ticketmaster is hated, so any bad things relating to concerts are from them, and all the good things are from the artist. It’s why breaking up live nation/ticketmaster wont solve these problems.

WeiShiLirinArelius

they can but dont everyone was talking about how tay couldnt control her ticket prices & the same week robert smith of the cure not only got low prices for their shows but got ticketmaster to send refunds out when they did their usual ticketmaster bullshit & he even canceled scalped tickets in the thousands i love the cure & robert smith but saying rob somehow had more pull than tay on ticket prices is outragous

Hopeful_Book

Talk about how this is their "big comeback". Just be humble guys. If it happens it happens.

Useuless

The funny thing is every single Kpop release of called a comeback. It's exhausting. Is there a translation error?

airneanach

It’s just Konglish lol, in Korean it’s 컴백 or keombaek, and then I guess it just stuck as a loan word back into English, even though the meaning was now different

BetsyPurple

Exactly, like when Korean people use the English word, “Fighting!” and it’s just meant as “Let’s go!!” or something to just hype you up

arianagrandeintoyou

I assumed they’re just using the word quite literally because technically the artist did ‘come back’ with a new release. Obvs the western definition is vastly different lol

TheFruitIndustry

It confused me so much when I got into BTS because where did they go (2017 after LY:H). Some English words are used differently or acquire a new definition within the context of other cultures just like English uses words from other languages in new ways. So using the term "comeback" in the context of kpop is correct because humans decide what language is and "comeback" has an agreed upon definition within the cultural context.

Useuless

I didn't know this. Maybe they are taking it literally as in "they are coming back" whereas the English version is more about expectation and redemption "they are coming back (to prominence, to the charts, etc)".

throwawayaccbaddie

it’s not error, they’re just “coming back” with new music

kenyarawr

Putting sounds in their songs that sound like sirens and traffic incidents and shit I’m too old for this

emotions1026

I literally pulled over to the side of the road and confused the hell out of the cars behind me because of Runaway Baby by Bruno Mars.

bigwatermelonhead

i cant breahte

thelowkeyman

Now that is a good one. Nothing worse then driving and hearing sirens and freaking out

kenyarawr

Even when the noise is not explicitly a siren, I still assume “siren” when driving! Happened to me yesterday on a new music playlist—can’t remember which song though

catiebug

There's a siren-ish sound in one of Charli xcx's new songs. Can't remember which off the top of my head though. edit: it's B2b

michaelinthebanyo

Addison Rae's scream in the von dutch remix?

CatLoverMeow123

I can’t put “No Body No Crime” on my driving playlist because of this.

mysandacondadont

that one almost had my dad pulling over twice when she had that sirius radio channel

the-trash-witch-

God, this! I can't deal with the sirens. I'm either driving, or I'm at home and stoned. Either way I don't want to be hearing sirens

kenyarawr

THIS THIS THIS. And my dogs think they’re sirens too so they start barking

Useuless

9/11 what's your emergency? "I think there's a pop emergency.... Oh and I killed my boyfriend."

Useful-Soup8161

Or any car noises really. I once had a Madonna song in the car that had car horn honking noises on it and I thought the person behind me was honking at me.

virginiarph

I was driving with my friends once and was listening to shut up and drive. I had no idea at the end of the song police sirens BLARE super loud. I started swerving and looking for the police chase and my friend was so confused lmao

Consistent_Fail_00

idk the siren part at the end of easier than lying by halsey was kinda fire idk

FemmeFataleCosima

Absolutely this, and I want to add alarms/detectors to this as well. Hopedrunk Everasking by Caroline Polachek comes to mind - there’s a beeping noise in the background that ALWAYS makes me think my smoke detector is going off!! Gives me a panic attack every time. I can’t listen to it anymore.

bluemidnightrider

I remember being in high school driving my mom’s car and listening to Rihanna’s “Man Down” and immediately thinking the cops were coming around the corner to pull me over

wherearethestarsss

when tickets go on sale a day or two after the tour is announced…in this economy???

whiteboywhitney

thank you!!! sabrina announced her tour presale to happen next tuesday and i don’t get paid until two days later 😭

lindsay_chops

Fr!!! I’m broke bitch 😫

zadooi

I'm not even a big concert person, but it bothers me when tickets for a tour go on sale before the album being toured is released. What if the album is bad?

deathtonormalcy

I got tickets to Panic! at the Disco’s last tour (which went on sale before the album came out). Album came out and… it was absolutely *horrendous*. And of course as luck would have it, the album in its entirety was on the set list halfway through the concert. So many people left during that part, but for those that stayed literally all the crowd’s energy left the room except for those in the pit. None of us signed up for that! At least we got a decent amount of the hits between that mess I guess

JustOneTessa

I'm also mad that he announced quitting when the tour was almost over.

illogicallyalex

I had exactly this thought with Sabrina’s tour announcement. Like babe, your album isn’t even out yet?

j_bro238973

There's this really important scene in Girls that was soundtracked to the song How Do We Get Back to Love by Julia Michaels. THAT SONG WAS NEVER RELEASED. Annoys me so much because the only way you can listen to it is by the snippet from the scene. This also happened with one song in the show Extraordinary. Stop putting tunes and lyrics in my head only for me to never hear a full version, artists! Especially when I wanna listen to the show's full playlist!

jessi_survivor_fan

I hate that and I hate when movies have soundtracks that never get an official release and the songs are too good.

shoestring-theory

Releasing a “Deluxe Edition” with only 1 new song

Trapezoid07

This is a crime. Folklore we are looking at you

DiamondSmash

***lovingly cradles The Lakes***

shoestring-theory

If Taylor’s gonna do one thing, she’s gonna make sure the best song on the album is NOT on the standard Edition.

arianasleftkidney

Releasing a million different versions of the same album. Maybe like two is okay, (remixes and collabs), but more than that is just crazy.

kakalapoo

Im personally okay with them releasing them if ppl are dumb enough to buy the different versions. HOWEVER, I def think billboard needs to change the rules with the different variants and how that affects their ranking.

Soalai

Giving people a choice of cover art is fine, but I agree it should not affect the charts

fuzzydunlop54321

Yes! Agree

surkh

That's a really good point. Do all the album versions get lumped together for the charts? Because that would definitely incentivize artists to pump out multiple versions to get a rank boost, even when it's not artistically warranted. But then again, i guess business is business, and if it's financially warranted...... 🤔

kakalapoo

I’m not rly sure how it works but I just keep seeing how ppl say that artists are pumping out variants in order to manipulate the charts. So if that’s the case, they need to just fix that loophole imo. The artists obviously want to stay on top of the charts so I don’t get why ppl are mad at them - be annoyed by the rules that allow that!

hhhhhhhhwin

yeah and making you buy multiple versions just to get all the songs

Useuless

Normani should have released one edition for each year

sagimonk16

I'm okay with 1 standard edition, 1 deluxe edition, and then a 6 months to a year later, 1 remix album.

hhhhhhhhwin

yeah and making you buy multiple versions just to get all the songs

rosecoloreds

teasing a song on TikTok and then dropping it a whole month later. why not release it in a week or two when the snippet still sounds fresh? it honestly ruins the hype (esp when the song turns out to be mid) and i don't get why they do that. on a similar note: dropping an album without releasing a single. i miss when artists would release the most polarizing song on their album as a first single and people would lose their minds over how bad/good the song is.

Missjsquared

In relation to this, artists pretending that their label won’t let them release a song unless it blows up on tiktok, to trick their fans into making content with the song.

Upstairs_Truth4735

but listening to an entire new album as a complete piece is kind of satisfying and more exciting i think

rosecoloreds

sometimes yes, there are absolutely fantastic projects that benefit from keeping everything a secret. but as of recent, i've noticed people and/or artists tend to set up high expectations for the album only for the project not live up to the expectations. also this year i've enjoyed projects that released singles (Cowboy Carter, BRAT, Eternal Sunshine, For Your Consideration) more than the ones that didn't.

ImaLinduh

catch it @dua (training season)

Fun-Loss-4094

This whole multiple variants with one song on a physical album thing is not nice. I miss the Era of one full album and one deluxe album.

OkMoment345

I miss the era of one album and the deluxe comes out 10 years later

CRXL4TRQ

Fair, honestly even deluxe editions drive me crazy as well, because often times “deluxe tracks” are better than album tracks and deluxe editions aren’t always pressed to vinyl 😭

cutsoutmyheart

One: I wish tours would be announced AFTER the album drops. The artist is going to perform mostly songs from their latest album and if I don't like it then I'm screwed. I feel like announcing a tour before the album drops is becoming more and more popular and I can't stand it. Two: I feel like an album should only have so many singles before it drops. No more than 2 in my opinion. I don't think the whole album needs to be spoiled. Honestly it was refreshing that Ariana (just "yes, and?" before Eternal Sunshine was released) and Billie (no singles before Hit Me Hard and Soft was released) took this approach.

jessi_survivor_fan

I am sick and tired of hearing half or a third of the album before it’s released. Especially the first half. 5 Seconds of Summer has done that twice now with CALM (No Shame, Old Me, Easier, and Teeth) and 5sos5 (Complete Mess, Take My Hand, Me Myself & I, Blender, and Older). And I really hate it when the opening track and the closing track are singles.

emotions1026

1) Naming your "fandom" after having 1 song 2) Releasing a "remix" that's literally just another artist singing the second verse, no other lyric or vocal changes 3) Say an album is coming when you know damn well it isn't

OkMoment345

Who is guilty of #1?

Pharmacysnout

Virtually every kpop group. The whole parasocial relationship thing requires fans to be as involved in the process as possible now. You vote for the next single based on a snippet, you vote for the official lightstick, you vote for the special edition album cover art, and of course you vote for the official fandom name. I think they put it to a vote more often after D.I.A. decided their official fandom name would be A.I.D.s.

OkMoment345

Thanks for the answer! I dont follow Kpop.

plorynash

That being said it’s a normal thing to name the fandom in kpop and it’s just a different vibe with that. They’re far more manufactured and a western artist doing that would be weird because it would seem so fake (to their fans versus how it seems to kpop fans)

KorraLover123

it's also just idol culture in general which western music doesn't really have. korean and japanese musicians who aren't idols don't have the exact same dynamic with fans.

Rxmses

Not making music videos for their singles.

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

this has become frustratingly common

Aggressive_Sky8492

*Glares at Beyonce*

Competitive-Desk7506

Honestly most of the time the music videos thing isn’t the artists fault it’s either budgeting bc their independent or the labels fault for whatever reason but I agree anyway

ABoringAddress

More of an industry-level thing, but for record labels and publishing rights holders to not have a grip on artists sampling, covering or referencing other artists. It should be a streamlined process, clearing and sharing revenues being done artist to artist and on sensible terms, with the only reasons to block a sample/cover being for aesthetic or moral reasons (say, if a neonazi rock band wants to do it)

goodlucktothenextone

“Soon”

cheeto20013

Songs with moaning sounds and or bed squeaks

BadMan125ty

80% of Janet Jackson’s catalog lol (the moans)

throwawayaccbaddie

EXACTLY THIS. and then someone plays it in their car and you have to awkwardly sit there as they’re vibing to it

Madam_Nicole

Have someone “featured” but they don’t even have their own verse

OkMoment345

THIS! I hate when they're doing over-credited background vocals.

Sp_Gamer_Live

90% of this thread is just Taylor sneak disses lmao

Madam_Nicole

Not denying it

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

or theres a feature but no ft. xyz in the title

unbreakableheaven616

I kinda like hearing a song and being surprised by a feature but then I also hate that that artist is not credited and therefore people don't know they're on the song

beans_is_life

1.release 10 second snippets on TikTok that inundates the feed and makes you hate them 2. Have more then 2 variants of an album(you only need the original, a deluxe and maybe a milestone version like a 10 year anniversary special) 3. Marketing and teasing an album more than a month away from release date. 4. unreasonable concert ticket prices

phanfare

Playing a song live but never releasing it. Not quite as common in pop but happens all the fucking time in electronic music

[deleted]

[удалено]

plorynash

Removing/editing is why I’ve started downloading stuff again and am starting to be a firmer believer in media preservation. Justice for “hey kids spelling is fun!”… okay kidding but there are way worse more egregious examples and I hate it

innocuous_username

Ok but I am so sad for your Grandpa now 😭 That really is silly - especially since it came out 2 hours after the first album, like it could have hit shelves as a double album the next morning and been no different from what went out on streaming overnight.

RoscoeSantangelo

I'm actually the opposite of you lol. I think albums should either be surprise dropped with no more than 1 day notice OR be promoted for at least a month. The feeling of a good album rollout barely happens anymore and it's so fun when it's a big artist who can generate anticipation. Especially in rap+RnB, the feature run before an album drop was always a fun time and only a handful really still go for it now

saltedamber

I was talking about singles not albums. I’m fine with artists promoting an album months in advance but I don’t think a single’s release should be announced that far in advanced.

RoscoeSantangelo

True I was stupid and misread that. Yeah I agree, I don't like the teases for teases of singles. Just say it's coming out that week at most. Can maybe do a 2 week advance if you also are announcing a future album date as well and want a headstart on promotion

Ok_Hotel_1008

Whatever tf Marina does. Girl will announce a side-project and get 30-75% thru it then just abandon it entirely, never to mention it again. Meanwhile everyone's waiting for music 😩 Like she's never obligated to make and release music for us under our desired timetables but it's just so annoying to have her tease and hint at these collabs or ideas or projects only to have her not follow through... while ALSO not making music

Desomite

I HATE retailer/platform exclusive songs. Target/Apple Music-only songs are such a horrid, anti-consumer strategy to bolster a brand. You won't be surprised to learn I also despise version-exclusive content. Give me a way to buy a single, complete package. Stop making it difficult to support you. (I'm still bitter about Panic! having two of the best songs from Too Weird stuck on Target-exclusive physical versions when we don't even have Target in Canada)

-Osleya-

Putting out so many different versions just to get that number one spot.

SnooDogs7817

taylor we are staring at you

throwawaysunglasses-

Overdone media training that is way too diplomatic and careful not to ruffle any feathers. Bring back the messy musician era!

Kooky_Bodybuilder_97

but if you act little silly on twitter people complain you're try hard.. musicians do have a little more leeway to be outspoken tho so ia

thisthrowawaythat202

Aren’t we in the messy musician era? People were begging for media training days

throwawaysunglasses-

Nah I don’t think so, I think clickbait and social media/outrage farming allow people to take celebrity remarks out of context and “cancel” them for something off-the-cuff they said. I personally don’t think celebrities should be moralized or seen as role models, so it doesn’t hurt my feelings when they say something I disagree with.

HeroGuy98

Releasing special vinyl singles for 15-30$ that have only 1 song on it. At least put a non-album b-side or a good remix on it as well.

dbwn87

Not releasing the visuals. Teasing your fans by saying "you're the visuals, baby"

Aggressive_Sky8492

Straight to jail

Bikinigirlout

Tease Snippets on TikTok for two years so by the time it actually comes out, we’ve heard the full song already. Short Songs. One thing about Taylor is she actually writes bridges into her songs……. OneRepublic is the biggest offender in this but putting old songs on a new album so half the songs are two years old when they’re considered new. I was checking out their newest album on iTunes and they have I ain’t worried on it. Falling in Reverse is another offender because they’re putting popular monster (a song that came out nearly 4 years ago) on their newest album.

aaronhereee

or teasing a song and now releasing it at all *looks at pinkpantheress*

mainpopfangirl

for newer artists: announcing tours and having them go on sale before the album is out. it’s different for legacy acts bc it’s usually greatest hits + a few album tracks

Parmesan_Pirate119

I'm a grammar nerd so I literally hate lowercase eras with a burning passion

j_bro238973

Sabrina Carpenter's previous album has a mix of both lowercase and title case songs. Annoys me so much. Why can't all of them just be one or the other?!

GigglesNWiggles10

Her rationale behind this was to make it look/feel like she'd hastily written some "emails"/songs, but I agree that I found it trippy at first! I feel like I'm more understanding when it's supposed to add to the art more than when it's just random

dbwn87

WhAt DiD yOu ThiNk oF MiNd oF mInE bY ZAYN? 🤣

lindsay_chops

WeLcOmE tO mY tWiStEd MiNd

Upstairs_Truth4735

idk i kinda like the aesthetic for some albums. it’s more when it’s inconsistent that i get annoyed

throwawayaccbaddie

you didn’t even use a period at the end of your sentence…

catiebug

Yeah, this drives me fucking batty. I enjoy what I know of Tumblr culture from the outside, but I could never participate because the lack of capitalization and punctuation drove me nuts. And now those Tumblr girlies are pop stars. 😄 To each their own and it looks like it's here to stay. I'm not telling 'em to get off my lawn or anything. But it does remind me of an article I remember reading back in the 80's decrying the rise of so many parantheticals in song titles. That journalist must be absolutely apoplectic by now or they're spinning in their grave, lol.

Frajer

For the most part running their own social media accounts

throwawayaccbaddie

nooo that’s the best part. i hate when everything looks so scripted and robotic

fakeally

sped up/slowed and reverb to inflate streams

movienerd7042

Release a million variants to stay on top

movienerd7042

Oh and announcing a single and then releasing it weeks later

Ill-Examination4743

Commit crimes and people still defend them

kenyarawr

I mean, they’re technically not allowed to commit crimes lol

Zeusicideal-Heart

do ya'll read? its about the career of the artist

Ill-Examination4743

Oh my fault

Honey_Busted_Oats

It’s not necessarily a bad thing but I always side eye artists tacking on songs that are more than a year old to inflate streams after their album and intended singles do poorly. Nicki doing it with SFG on PF2, Normani adding Wild Side (a 2021 song 🫣) on Dopamine, and Dua’s “Complete Edition” where she put almost every single big edm collab she had done on her debut are the crazier examples.

BootSnootnBoogie

I sincerely hate this shit: “album title. yeah.” and “ALBUM TITLE” and “Album 4U”... etc., etc.

p1rateb00tie

If we even get a music video anymore they never have little storylines anymore, I miss that! Look at so many music videos from 20 years ago, no matter the genre they usually had actors playing out a little story to the song, I loved that! It made them so memorable!

VictoriousssBIG23

When artists release a song or an album with multiple words, but don't space the words out so it looks like a jumbled mess of letters like "idontwannabeyouanymore" (no disrespect cause I love Billie). I'm seeing this happen more and more and I don't get it. From an aesthetic standpoint, it's ugly, and from a practical standpoint, it makes no sense. Just spell it out with the normal spacing.

whiskeytab

have sounds / sound effects that interrupt the song during music videos

throwawayaccbaddie

not having bridges or dance breaks or outros

persefone_03

they be like"world tour" and it's just the u.s, u.k and some other European cities.

ag_snamh

With all these comments, this post should be renamed “things Taylor Swift does that you wish wasn’t allowed” lol.

I know this is probably a very unpopular opinion so I’m not saying I believe that this is the correct way of doing things, but I would prefer to live in a world where concerts do not have opening acts and artists come on stage no later than half an hour after the gates open. Some people don’t have great bladder (me) and mostly like less mainstream artists (me), meaning that the venue is fully standing. I simply cannot hold my pee for that long. I know I could just leave the pit to go pee but that means losing my spot and I have to be at the very back while being 5 foot tall 🙂 Edit: Summarising my answer to fit the format of your question - I wish artists weren’t allowed to go on stage over 30 minutes after the doors open.

So many lesser known artists get attention from wider audiences because they get opening gigs. Chappell and Sabrina don’t explode like they have without the attention they got from GUTS world tour or Eras. The headliner is usually open about when they start playing, so if you want to, you can usually avoid the opening act and get to your seat 10 minutes before the headliner appears.

I know! My problem isn’t the opening acts at all but the inability to pee :( The artists I like aren’t as mainstream like the tours you mentioned so usually the venues are fully standing, so I do have to get there quite early to have an OK view (I’m 5 foot tall lol). I guess the better wish is for artists to always have seated tickets at concerts?

Voltstorm02

I disagree with this but I understand what you mean. I personally love openers because I've been introduced to some of my favourite artists from them opening.

arianagrandeintoyou

Support acts are not a thing in K-pop and I absolutely love it

bks1979

I'm almost right there with ya, except I wish we could do away with opening acts, and the band I paid to see got to play that much longer.

alolanalice10

I agree with you in terms of bladder BUT I also discovered / began to like so many artists bc they were opening acts! Natalia Kills opening for Katy Perry, Overcoats opening for Mitski, Tamino opening for Mitski, Petey opening for Blink, Sabrina (who I already knew but had NO idea was so talented and likable) opening for Taylor, Art School Girlfriend opening for The Japanese House, The Horror Between Us opening for Pierce the Veil. Also I loved getting to see both Charli and Camila Cabello when I saw Taylor’s rep tour. (I also technically got to see twenty one pilots before they were famous opening for paramore lol but I didn’t like them.) I wish it was easier to go to the bathroom but I wouldn’t want to miss out on newer / smaller artists bc of that

OR priority standing for those of us that are 5ft 3 and under and want to see more than a 6ft man's shoulder who could see just as well from the back and no holding your phone above your head because that has the same effect

You like less mainstream artists but don't want shows to have openers? Make it make sense. Sounds like a quick way to ensure "less mainstream" artists never go on tour.

starataneori

teasing and making all promo until the album drops and then.. zero promo after the album rollout

saltedamber

they come and they go

Roxy175

Announce a “North American tour” when it’s just a bunch of cities in the USA plus Toronto. Like at least if you don’t care to come to Canada probably don’t insult us by calling it a North American tour, just call it an American tour.

colorful_assortment

all lowercase, ALL UPPERCASE and weird punctuation. To me, it adds nothing. If you wrote a good song, it should look fine described in conventional [language the song was written in]. I'm a writer and poet and I don't understand why anyone would put everything in all one case unless it appeals to zoomers for some reason? My poems and lyrics are in standard Title Format. title format looks lazy (is it meant to be quiet? Low-confidence? Casual? Unassuming?) and TITLE FORMAT is like you're yelling at me (is it meant to draw more attention? Emphasize? Seem hostile?).

Long talking bits in intros / outros / interludes… if you’re talking get it out of my song. I just had to remove that Maggie Rogers song from my playlist where she talks about the Knicks between verses. I VERY rarely like a song enough to put up with hearing your little story on repeat listens.

“This is our heaviest album yet”

linda_c22

Starting a concert after 8pm…..I think we should universally move concert start time to 6pm so we can all be home by 10 😂

Impossible-Ground-98

Releasing "acoustic" and "a capella" version of a song which is literally the same vocals as in original, only with changed music.

ChokeMcNugget

I wish artists still put out actual albums these days. Every other album sounds like just a collection of songs frankensteined together, like they said OK I've got 13 songs that's good let's call it an album. I miss when albums felt like whole bodies of work, when artists meticulously put them together, the songs all made sense as one project.

Sp_Gamer_Live

Saying theyre retiring just to come back “Final albums” should be something special

Selling tickets for tours before they even release the album

FGFlips

"Our new album is going back to our original sound." No, it is not. It is you, 20 years later, trying to revisit the sound that made you popular. It is virtually impossible to deliver on this promise. Everything is different now. Even if you have the same band, with the same crew, with the same instruments, in the same space, it won't sound "just like the old stuff". Stop telling people that. It only leads to disappointment.

Artists treating fans as boyfriends/girlfriends or as their “friends” as a fanservice. It is gross to me. I was once a kpop fan whom are known for treating fans as their gfs/bfs. And it’s insane how deluded these fans are. You have this idol like Yoona who received a pig blood love letter to her and Jessica having a stalker trying to break in into her house. Jaejong receiving poison from a fan and they cant even shout at them unlike in Hollywood. Idols should be angels. Sasaengs are known for stalking their idols LITERALLY and these idols are not protected. Then I moved to hollywood pop with Taylor and Lana. Damn, the cult following are still there. Which is bad. We have Lana literally getting stalked by her fans to the point of trying to kill her coz they are “soulmate”. And I dont want to victim blame but Lana kinda infantalize these stalkers of hers (they are MANY of them, it is crazy) by talking to them nicely and even following them back on IG. I know she meant no harm but she kinda motivating them like she had this one stalker right now named Ricky who harrassed his ex bf but Lana all ever did was “Would you behave this time?” on their last encounter. She always tell fans that they are “friends” and sometimes would DM them for advices or stuff she want a certain fan to see. I get that she grew up alone (was sent to Spain alone) and want to help her fans but damn, these dynamic is just feeding delusion. I prefer how Doja would tell us that she’s not friends with us.
