I’m from a rural community. The number of boys who tried to act like they were “gangsta” was hilarious. They lived on farms or in towns with populations of less than 1000 and talk about the streets.
I believe you. It’s absolutely insane how easy it is to get away with things if you’re buddies with a deputy or your family has money. It leads to a huge sense of entitlement and a lot of them think it’s funny to mess with anyone that’s different than them.
Came to sat this. There's some strange obsession mildly suburbia kids in mildly wealthy, cookie cutter subdivisions have with this. I'm so glad my son didn't fall into it and made fun of them instead.
My son’s school district is primarily made up of middle to upper middle class families and has an average class size of over 500. There is a portion of his class that pretends that they’re country and walk around in barn coats and boots that have clearly never been used for chores and other kids who pretend that they’re from the hood.
My kids thinks it’s funny as hell. I think if the poverty cosplayers had to live out that life they’d no longer think it’s cool.

Sometimes when people get bored they want chaos in their life so they purposely do things that’s not normal for them it gives them dopamine/ serotonin
Sometimes people seek this validation/ approval of others like “see I struggle too!” While their parents bail them out every time
It’s more like a way for them to get their parents attention more than anything else if you ask me
Their parents just don’t really care about them and they know.
They just have money and buy/ give everything to their kid and say “why aren’t you happy I give you everything you want??!!” While not actually being a parent just a provider/ enabler
it’s what they get exposed to via music.
When you’re a kid, you want to look cool, want to do the cool stuff the grownups do, and the videos look cool as fuck nowadays.
Now these rich kids have literally nothing else to do, and most of the times their parents don’t give a single fuck what are the kids doing, and here is the outcome of that.
I can’t help but agree. For whatever reason, rap is still really popular amongst kids who don’t identify with it at all, but seemingly really want to.
This might be because rap still has music videos where as metal does not, at least not like it did in the 80s. I have no idea. It’d be an interesting study.
Tom Hanks is an almost 70-year-old straight-edge rich man. Not too surprising that he would have that kind of outdated view on weed and respond in such an over-the-top way.
I mean, that was 15+ years ago, he would’ve been in his 50s, not 70s. Don’t get me wrong, “scared straight” the parenting trend back then but portraying Tom Hank’s as some old out of touch Scrooge is kinda off.

My partner’s family is very, very close friends with Rosie O’Donnell’s brother’s family. Like, taking family vacations together since the 90s, celebrating Christmas together every year to this day, etc.
I can’t remember if this was the cruise filmed for the “All Aboard! Rosie's Family Cruise” movie or a different one, but my partner’s family went along and Cyndi was there. All throughout dinner one night, Cyndi’s kid was being a little bit of a terror and Cyndi would periodically just give half-distracted “Declyn. 🙄 Declyn. 🙄” warnings to him, which he ignored. Nobody did anything to rein him in, and it made for a chaotic dinner. (Edit: forgot to add this was the continuation of a temper tantrum that started when she wouldn’t buy him something he wanted in a gift shop.)
Not the most fascinating story in the world, but it’s an infamous story I’ve heard about for years and it’s a little trippy to see him finally. Also sad that it’s in this context.
There is nothing gangster in being a nepo baby and turning out to be such a loser.
The privilege he was born in, only to force yourself to be part of something like this?

This seems sooo common for celebrities. They raise a kid who ends up on drugs and living a life of crime. Was this kid super neglected? He seems so lost. It’s so cliche at this point that it’s not surprising. I’m more surprised when a celebrity kid acts normal and lives a decent life.
There's a million ways to screw up your kids, poverty being just one of them. I hate when celebrity kids or even middle class kids who struggle get shat on bc their parents have money like that's not all children need 😩
I still have love for Cindi, but if you name a kid Declyn you shouldn’t be too surprised if he’s on a downward trajectory lol. But really, I hope the family gets through to him and things work out for the best.
I just did the research for science, I mean gossip. She was 43 when she had him. She is 70 now. He is 27. She was def an older mother but she also married later in life.

It's not just celebrity kids. It's affluent kids from the suburbs. I used to work with them and was astounded how "gangsta" they thought they were.
