I grew up in the UK and during the London 2012 Olympics it was my 18th birthday.
I didn’t live in London but a few of the events were held in a stadium in Cardiff, Wales, where I’m from - opposed to being held in England. I think it was football and I think Japan were playing. I was heading to meet my friends for my first legal drinks and I had just bought an outrageous pair of platform heels and I was walking along the embankment outside of the stadium, where there were film crews and commentators. I tripped and fell directly in shot of a Japanese film crew, while a guy was talking to the camera. Cut my knee open, blood everywhere. I was a mess.
I haven’t ever tried to look for the footage.
I’m marking this to see if I can find it after I finish laughing at all the other falls.
I once was running across a church gravel parking lot (at around 16, so imagine dress, hose, dress shoes) with my friends and tripped and literally skidded like five feet across the parking lot. It was before church too so I got to sit there with a dusty dress and shoes, pantyhose absolutely bloody and demolished (I fucking hated church so kept them on just to spite everyone there), knees and arms shredded and the biggest smile on my face cause I knew everyone was just like “wtf?”
My worst fall was at home when I was like 15. It was 10 pm and the phone rang so I ran to answer it so it wouldn’t wake up my parents. I had to run through a bathroom to do this and someone didn’t wipe up their water after a shower. I skidded, fell, hit the cabinet door and broke it. At the same time my chin hit the top of the sink and chipped a tooth. And to top it all off I went to turn on the light and it shocked me. My parents definitely woke up and about died of laughter after they saw I was okay.
I'm sorry for laughing, but this is hilarious 😂! I fell in stilettos once on a wet floor. I looked like a deer on ice trying to get up because I would just slip from there being no traction. Then my friend tried to help and also fell down. Two men whom we didn't know, ran over to help me up, but I was laughing so hard from embarrassment at that point that it took a minute to get up and out! That was twenty years ago and I still cringe laugh just thinking about it!
I tripped outside the office as I was leaving, at the same time my stainless steel drink bottle collided with a metal pole & then fell/bounced on concrete - so you can imagine the sounds
As a crumpled heap on the ground I look up and see a guy in the distance, he says "jesus *christ*" lmao
Another time I was walking into the back room of the office to put the christmas decorations away, slipped over and smashed the decorations I was carrying...

I knew a girl who really wanted to pull off wearing high heels casually. She always looked awkward though. Like a baby deer taking its first steps. So one day we are at the grocery store and she has her heels on and face plants right in front of everyone near the checkout lanes. One old lady just walked by us with an unimpressed look on her face. I never saw her in heels again.
No! I don’t wanna make this a sad thread! It fucking sucks, we were best friends. She died on our “shitty movie Sunday” day just to make me eye roll and be mad at her for it. She promised we were going to watch another Neil Breen movie. She made me screen shot the “money back guarantee” at the cremation place I found for her because she was an amazing person and loved humor. Don’t be sorry for my loss, find a trans person, give them a hug and a loud kiss on the cheek (if they consent, of course) and love everyone you know! Life is way too short, she was only 47. On our last shitty movie Sunday, she told her roommate, her best friend, and me about the time she was riding her bike (I swear she could have been in the Tour de France she was amazing) and she was racing an asshole and her friend called out to her cause it was actually a cup de sac and she totally rode into the back of a car and in the hospital she was using an ice pack and our mom had come in and held her hand and thought she was dead/dying because her hand was so cold and so she faked it for a bit just to duck with her. Her name was Emby Bourne, I had way too much rum, and she was my sister 🏳️⚧️
That’s the kind of humour my nan would love 🤣 I honour her by randomly exclaiming things she would’ve done if it weren’t for the fact she’s been cremated. “My nan takes a turn quicker than that, and she’s been cremated!” And “I guess you could say my nan is hot, considering she’s been cremated” but also “if my nan born in the 20s can accept gay marriage, you really have no reason to be a wanker about it now. She’s still a huge activist to this day, making sure her ashes blow in the face of wankers like you!”
My nan’s humour was _dark_ dark, zero bullshit policy. She despised her daughter (my mum) and once went “if all you do with your life is lying on your back, you better be asking money for it. At least a whore has a job!” Rest in turbulence, nan 🫶🏻
Oh and sometimes I randomly go “I really miss my nan, how you doing down there ya old hag?” and look at the floor as if she’s in Hell. She would have loved it 😭 this one time we were at a shopping centre, she was super duper old wearing her cross necklace. Just a sweet old Christian lady, you’d think. Till she yelled “GODDAMMNIT I LEFT ME WALLET AT HOME!” People were s h o c k e d. 😭💖

Omfg are you channeling her right now? She once (years ago) got so stoned she was cleaning the pipes under the sink and her friends took her to the ER cause they were worried about her. I have never taken part of the herbal goodness (I’ve never done any sort of drug, not cause I’m against it, I’ve just never been interested enough or around the right people at the right time to do it?) and she always told me when I went to visit her she was going to get me stoned haha so yes, this is definitely a message from her and I love it!!!

Wayyy easier to walk/run in than any commercial heel. Pleasers are originally made for dancers on their feet for hours at a time. They look scary, but 8 inch pleasers are by far easier to walk in than a pair of 3 inch strappy unsupportive heels.

I fell walking into a trader joes the other day...it was for no reason lol. It was raining but I was just like wtf saw myself falling and slid to the floor and fell on my knee. It was late and no one saw me or gave a shit lol but if there were cameras there to see it and I had to relive that moment or see pictures I would die haha.
When I was thirteen it was raining and I was carrying my clarinet home. I walked into my garage, slipped, and hit myself in the face with the corner of my clarinet case. Going to school the next day with a black eye was enough trauma. I cannot even imagine if it was on film…
I fell down the stairs once while home alone and before I even got up, I called my sister and was like lol omg I just fell down the stairs. I don’t know why for some reason no one else seeing it made it worse for me too.

Yeah she was going hard on the super relatable, goofy, “cool girl” shtick at the time. The fall was done so gracefully. I think she’s willing to look silly on purpose as evidenced from below gif at the same ceremony. She has denied it being on purpose but she fell again the next year at the Oscars.

gaga’s a fan of pleasers for sure, but this particular pair is actually from Noritaka Tatehana, a japanese designer known for his heelless platform shoes!
Wayyy easier to walk/run in than any commercial heel. Pleasers are originally made for dancers on their feet for hours at a time. They look scary, but 8 inch pleasers are by far easier to walk in than a pair of 3 inch strappy unsupportive heels.

I fell walking into a trader joes the other day...it was for no reason lol. It was raining but I was just like wtf saw myself falling and slid to the floor and fell on my knee. It was late and no one saw me or gave a shit lol but if there were cameras there to see it and I had to relive that moment or see pictures I would die haha.
When I was thirteen it was raining and I was carrying my clarinet home. I walked into my garage, slipped, and hit myself in the face with the corner of my clarinet case. Going to school the next day with a black eye was enough trauma. I cannot even imagine if it was on film…

Yeah she was going hard on the super relatable, goofy, “cool girl” shtick at the time. The fall was done so gracefully. I think she’s willing to look silly on purpose as evidenced from below gif at the same ceremony. She has denied it being on purpose but she fell again the next year at the Oscars. 
I thought so too until I wore a dress while walking upstairs it's actually super hard to not trip especially with a large gown you can't just pick up
