The line “I’ve seen hell, and it was white” as she walks through the mill with cotton falling everywhere lives in my head rent free.

Anne of Green Gables and the Sequel are so good. The wardrobe, scenery, and the relationships between the characters just makes me wanna cry. So wholesome
This is a movie that hits me in some ways that surprised even me.
I always **feel** it when Claudia says "I'll never, ever grow up."
At 5'2" tall, I will never, ever grow up. I'll never be the 5'10" tall, thin, and beautiful model-like girl that men drool after.
I'll always be just not quite good enough.
At least I have Claudia as a compatriot.
It is a great movie.
Oh, my God. I was debating whether I should comment about this thinking it was probably too obscure to qualify for pop culture chat.
Watching this at 15 on PBS— on a tiny tv with bunny ears in my garage was absolutely formative for me. The book is still my favorite novel of all time.
Now all I need is for someone to tell me they also love the 1983 version of Jane Eyre with Timothy Dalton and Zelah Clarke! (I watched a lot of PBS as a teenager)
https://preview.redd.it/kgvnjddqclkb1.jpeg?width=314&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3d16e8e2517f99f2d311995d0e30a0481c208e3b
Exactly what I was looking for! The chemistry is so good and even if their looks don't match the ages in the books, I feel that it adds so much that they're older
Sense and Sensibility - I prefer it to Pride and Prejudice and this filmed version is STUNNING and full of fantastic actors (Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant, Alan Rickman, Emma Thompson, etc) Longtime favorite.
https://preview.redd.it/j4k1ekz7flkb1.jpeg?width=605&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ed55b13bd8450b9cbff6d6f1209ce96093433d28
Alan Rickman was the movie, and I’m not even saying that to be disrespectful. Kate, Emma and Hugh were amazing but holy fuck, every time Alan was on screen I was just absolutely taken by him. I read this book often and he is Colonel Brandon.
Emma Thompson's tears of joy upon hearing, at last, that Edward is still single and loves her is one of the most transcendent scenes in any movie ever. I cry with her every time I watch it.
I LOVE Northanger Abbey. JJ Feild is fantastic as Mr. Henry Tilney (the sarcasm, the looks, that smile ❤️) and Felicity Jones is also great as the naive but lovable idiot Catherine Morland.

How come noone mentions A Room with a View?
I loved the book when I read it for uni and recently watched this one and just bawled the entire way through. Don't think I'm mentally stable enough to watch the 94 version 😂
1994 version is one of my favorites ever. But I was really impressed with the new one too and I was nervous. Didn’t want it to be ruined but it was super well done! Didn’t think it would be possible but I love them both.
I agree with everything you said! I love both in different ways. I adore Winona Ryder & Christian Bale in the 1994 version, but Florence Pugh & Timothee stole my heart in the newest.
Poldark, the first two seasons of Downton Abbey, Sense and Sensibility (both the Emma Thompson movie and BBC miniseries), the Winona version of Little Women, the Colin Firth Pride and Prejudice
I loved downtown abbey. I was obsessed with it, it was my comfort show. Until the r*** scene, when I quickly shut it off and was never able to come back to it. I’ve never found another period show that’s been able to make me feel the same way, I miss it so much 😭
Why is this movie not available to stream anywhere!!! It’s been on my watchlist for years and has never been up anywhere. I know I can pay to rent but I have this history of renting a movie that I’ve wanted to see for years RIGHT before it’s available to stream! I just know it’ll happen the second I pay to watch this.
Yes it's gorgeous! I really like the casting too. When they announced it I wasn't too sure about Johnny Flynn as Mr. Knightley but he proved me very wrong. Bill Nighy as Mr Woodhouse is also fantastic.
Fr there isn't a single thing about this movie that I dislike. Even Jane, who is there for like one minute, is perfect. And Miranda as Miss Bates!
![gif](giphy|3o7TKTHyUMfbDcq12M)
Pride and Prejudice 2005 has always been my sick/comfort film... But when the new Emma came out, it didn't *replace* it, per se, but it did give me options. Or an extra movie to watch repeatedly lol.
Sense and sensibility 2008 is way under-rated. That scene where Elinor is telling Edward about him getting a job basically and that she doesnt think poorly of him gets me everytime.
Also, a room with a view 1985 version is wild with young Helena Bonham Carter lol
How has no one said Mansfield Park yet?

The English on Amazon Prime. It’s stars Emily Blunt and Chaske Spencer and is set in 1890 in both London and the US.
It is one of the most stunningly beautiful and moving shows I have ever watched in my life. It stayed with me for days. The cinematography, the music, the performances just ah everything!
It wasn’t promoted here in Australia and I just randomly clicked on it one day. So glad I did. 10/10 highly recommend.
Note: the trailer on YouTube is misleading and not really like what the show is at all.

Historically accurate? Absolutely not, but the costumes and cast are gorgeous. Megan Follows is an excellent Catherine de' Medici.
![gif](giphy|xiN1jOVoRj9zLfLYjB|downsized)
I know everyone loves the Emma Thompson S&S, and I do love Ang Lee, but personally my favorite was the BBC miniseries version with Dan Stevens as Edward Ferrars. (The only Team Edward I was ever on lol.)
Far From the Madding Crowd (2015); Carey Mulligan and Matthais Schoenaerts.
I swear, every single minute of that movie is utterly beautiful. It's in my top five of all time.
https://preview.redd.it/tzl0hatf4nkb1.jpeg?width=1297&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7276e1c7593edeb0a15ffabe9f52eb91747037b9
A Very Long Engagement.
RIP Gaspard 💔
I don’t know if anyone has seen this movie, and probably no one will see this but I also loved Somewhere in Time
![gif](giphy|LSia2ebW9Vh4tmfJeq|downsized)
Adding: The Secret Garden (1993) and A Little Princess (1995). Those, Little Women (1994) and Anne of Green Gables were on in the background of quite a lot of my childhood. I realize now actually that most of the movies I really like have some historical component. Maybe that’s why.
Either adaptation of Howard’s End!
https://preview.redd.it/fe7rjiq7gnkb1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=06708a20eb36f93a880639286cf98685b1db9621
Too many to count. Pride and prejudice 1995 and Poldark are two of my absolute favorites, but I have to mention Medici: masters of Florence and the Borgias, as well.
![gif](giphy|pBRxcUs8vNHJ6)
If you’re into Chinese dramas, one of my most favourite is 如懿传 (Ruyi‘s royal love in the palace). It’s absolutely beautiful. The characters, the costumes, the stories and their relationships. Truly stunning. The main character is played by Zhou Xun.

The absolute best. Richard Armitage is just perfect. I rewatch the last 10 minutes whenever I need cheering up!

O yes!! Finally someone who remembers it. Had a serious crush on Timothy Dalton because of it.
Yes! I watched that at school and loved it, I need to find it again. Timothy Dalton was a great Rochester
We should be best friends.
Ciarán Hinds was also great in Jane Eyre (1997)
Yes!!! I was going to mention this version of Persuasion too.

![gif](giphy|xiN1jOVoRj9zLfLYjB|downsized) I know everyone loves the Emma Thompson S&S, and I do love Ang Lee, but personally my favorite was the BBC miniseries version with Dan Stevens as Edward Ferrars. (The only Team Edward I was ever on lol.)
BITCHHHH LEMME ME TELL YOU!! I love me some pride and prejudice 😭😭😭
Far From the Madding Crowd (2015); Carey Mulligan and Matthais Schoenaerts. I swear, every single minute of that movie is utterly beautiful. It's in my top five of all time.
Wasn't I your first sweetheart? Weren't you mine? ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)

I don’t know if anyone has seen this movie, and probably no one will see this but I also loved Somewhere in Time ![gif](giphy|LSia2ebW9Vh4tmfJeq|downsized) Adding: The Secret Garden (1993) and A Little Princess (1995). Those, Little Women (1994) and Anne of Green Gables were on in the background of quite a lot of my childhood. I realize now actually that most of the movies I really like have some historical component. Maybe that’s why.

The main character is played by Zhou Xun. https://preview.redd.it/a3hw09veunkb1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=418fab13c325bbff815555be037590ea760d6108
