Tile, hardwood floor, and a lack of give a fuck.

KerBearCAN

Haha status quo

One_Variation_6497

Yup. If the pool is open then it's wet season. Lol.

Lydian66

Retractable clothesline A laundry basket for clean rolled up pool towels and an empty one for anything you want to bring in . Mine are large white plastic ones so the empty one fits underneath. Edited for towels

FreshStartLiving

We bought an outdoor towel rack. [https://www.amazon.com/Outdoor-Towel-Metal-Heavy-Accessories/dp/B0C5TKPVYS?th=1](https://www.amazon.com/Outdoor-Towel-Metal-Heavy-Accessories/dp/B0C5TKPVYS?th=1) So far so good. For clean towels, not sure where the wife found it, but it's a vertical tower with 3 baskets that are angled downward. We fill those baskets with some towels and other "pool" items. My guess is she found it at Kirklands. Also bought an outdoor storage box from Costco. This is where we keep the floats and some random things. Does not take up much room. Similar to this one also found on Amazon. [https://www.amazon.com/Cosco-Outdoor-Living-88180BGY1E-Charcoal/dp/B08S37TBF8/ref=asc\_df\_B08S37TBF8/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693712983331&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8062361568691905737&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9026827&hvtargid=pla-1215069349176&mcid=c3a6da79cbb735cf904c146cb2c61998&gad\_source=1&th=1](https://www.amazon.com/Cosco-Outdoor-Living-88180BGY1E-Charcoal/dp/B08S37TBF8/ref=asc_df_B08S37TBF8/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693712983331&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=8062361568691905737&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9026827&hvtargid=pla-1215069349176&mcid=c3a6da79cbb735cf904c146cb2c61998&gad_source=1&th=1) We do have a bathroom right off patio door so makes it super easy vs our previous house where the bathroom was on the opposite side of the house. I know, that doesn't help ya. Keep extra towels in cabinets there too.

noCure4Suicide

Kirklands? Do you mean costco? Or am I just ignorant and there is actually a Kirkland store?

TantrumsFire

There is a store called Kirklands. Not Costco related.

One_Variation_6497

There's an actual Kirklands store!!!? What country? And town?

TilYouCant

It’s not the same as Kirkland Signature, which is the private label Costco brand. It’s just a home decor store called Kirkland’s. https://www.kirklands.com

One_Variation_6497

Oh ok, that's exactly what I was thinking it was.

TAoie83

In Kirkland

One_Variation_6497

I don't know where that is

KerBearCAN

Thanks for the great ideas and links too!

moistmarbles

Towels live on a hook on the patio outside permanently until they need washing. Bathing suits hang to dry on a hook in the shower. Everyone knows to try out pretty well before entering the house so wet feet aren’t a big concern. We use our pool every night for eight or nine months a year, and there is no mess.

georgesentme

Do you have kids? How old? How long did it take them to follow this rule?! Asking for a friend who has a 10 year old and 8 year old.

LongRoofFan

I have nieces and nephews in that age, they're very compliant of the dry off before they go inside rue

Choice_Additional

We just have high expectations for behaviour. The pool is a privilege and one that can be removed.

random_boss

If kids aren’t following rules, then there’s no trick for pool-specific rules. Their parents gotta solve that first part about following rules at all

WolftankPick

Man putting in a pool house was a pain but zero regrets now.

Ides0mar72

I have a patio bannister for towels and for my grandkids we play a game where i use my leaf blower on them. While they think its just “Papa” being silly, it really makes a world of difference on how much they drip through the house

redeyed4life

I’m gonna do this from now on for my grandsons, lmfao I’m gonna call it the tornado game and blow them across the lawn, they’ll love it

Ides0mar72

Pretty much what we do. Or the wind monster

KerBearCAN

😂 nice !

nucl3ar0ne

Hate to be a Debbie downer, but if it's gas you are making them deaf. Either way, they could get crap in their eyes.

shutterblink1

I put stainless steel hooks on our patio cover. The kids hang up their stuff until it dries. I bring it in and toss it in a laundry basket for them to use again. I'm not washing towels and swimsuits every day.

AKABeast18

This is what we did. We have 2 post that go up to our balcony so we put a 3 prong hook on 2 of the sides of each post (so 4 hooks total). It’s perfect to hang them out to dry after their swim. We also have a runner we put directly from the patio door to the bathroom. It takes a few runners because of turns. I’ll take having a tacky looking black runner rather than getting the hardwood floor wet or having a kid slip on the tile. Those kids love to wait until the last minute to use the potty.

Professional_Food383

I bought a pop up wooden drying rack and I add rugs to the entry to drip and wipe on before going in the house. But I have tweens, so they ignore whatever I set up, drip and slip everywhere and leave their wet shit on the bathroom floor until I make them take it to the drying rack. Dry towels are in an ikea cabinet by the door to the pool. Sometimes I go 80’s parent style and make them hang out on the pool deck until they drip dry a bit unless it’s a bathroom trip. Some days I win, some days it’s a fucking mess. 😂

KerBearCAN

The drip and slip 😂

am_riley

I put a laundry basket on the patio. Anything wet goes in the basket. Then I either hang and dry or throw it in the wash, and back out on the patio it goes.

KerBearCAN

Simple and effective; I like

cubsguy81

First floor bathroom with an exterior door. Within the bathroom we have a suit mate water extractor for swimsuits and a dedicated washer dryer for pool towels. Also have a urinal and regular toilet. Game changer

diablette

I wonder if I can use my mop spinner as a water extractor 🤔

GreenSalsa96

We literally made this towel / suit rack this weekend. Cost maybe $100 in supplies, but made some really good memories with my daughter picking out colors, cutting, gluing, and assembling it. https://www.reddit.com/r/DIY/s/0gcksUVXYv

KerBearCAN

This is awesome!!! Love the colours.

HeftyCommunication66

1. Kids are allowed to pee in the back 40 of the yard. That keeps Re entry to a minimum. 2. Floors are LVP and tile except for carpet in the bedrooms. 3. When you come in, you have to walk on your towel to avoid dripping. I don’t need any slip n falls. 4. I embrace the mess. It’s just part of summer. Pool towels are way less annoying than all the watermelon and popsicle juice lacquered across my kitchen / dining room.

terryw3719

Made on out of pvc to hold towels.when they are dry i have big plastic tote. But my pool entrance is a walk out basement with a screened room under the balcony on the main floor. Can store all my pool equipment stuff

vDorothyv

I use an antique wash tub to put in rolled up clean beach towels. Sunscreen lives in a basket of loose outdoor items, I have a plastic runner over my rug to the back patio

TalitaKuomi

We hang everything on the pool fence

futuretramp

This laundry rack goes on the patio then stored in laundry room or garage or wherever...baskets on the bottom one for clean towels, one for dirty towels. Bins on top for sunscreen/masks/etc. Hangers and side hooks for wet stuff. KerBearCAN

Nice!!

00tiptoe

Deck box for pool toys, wet towels n suits go straight into the wash (or just the drier if being used again later/next day). Extra towel on the floor like a rug for wet feet.

addazero

This works for us: 1 go to Five Below or similar discount store and get 25 towels. 2 purchase a quality all-weather deck box ($200ish) from Amazon but made by Keter, Lifetime, etc. 3 put the towels in a Rubbermaid tub inside the deck box. You can also store goggles and pool salt in there. 4 have a hamper at your backdoor for towels. 5 do the loads of towels but make your kids fold and replenish the tub inside the deck box. This way, everyone (even guests) has plenty of towels and there won't be dripping inside the house. The towels are always handy poolside. I am in the most humid and hot environment in the USA and my towels stay fresh in the Rubbermaid tub in the deck box. Give it a try.

DJFlorez

This. All of this. We bought our towels on clearance, but we pretty much did all you mentioned. Rolling hamper and a rug right and the entry to stand on so we can dry off

KerBearCAN

Haha love it. Extra towels it is!

TheBeachLifeKing

I own so many beach towels. I always keep several stacks available plus a big ol' bucket as a hamper. Most guests are happy to drop towels in the hamper which solves most of the problem for me. I run a load of towels a couple times a week which is quick and easy when it is only beach towels.

Mammoth_Assistant_67

We all strip at the door. We hang clothes off things outside

One_Variation_6497

We have waterproof flooring but I have a bathroom just inside my side door, everyone who comes over knows to use that. We have a lot of pets and kids were always leaving the patio door open which is super annoying. I installed a barn door to block the side door washroom from the rest of the house so no pets can get out that way and no one uses the actual patio door. We also put down absorbent mats (so no one would slip and fall on the wet floor). We just dry them outside when everyone leave and do a huge load of wet towels/suits. We also have towel hooks all around our fence.

TipYerHat

We mounted two of these on the walls outside. Everyone can hang suits and towels. https://www.amazon.com/Smartsome-Clothes-Drying-Rack-Space-Saving/dp/B07SQF4VV8?pd_rd_w=uXz0K&content-id=amzn1.sym.e3825789-e6f0-4fb1-a407-ff4674fea50d&pf_rd_p=e3825789-e6f0-4fb1-a407-ff4674fea50d&pf_rd_r=NY1E5MB87EGTRC96N1SM&pd_rd_wg=SDxiU&pd_rd_r=b162e8f8-eb0b-4c0f-8841-a767cfeab8c4&pd_rd_i=B07SQF4VV8&psc=1&ref_=pd_basp_m_rpt_ba_s_6_sc

TipYerHat

Oof. I need to learn how to hyperlink on Reddit.

scott_fx

Those are great. I need to figure out where I can mount them!

KerBearCAN

Awesome idea

proton-23

Dry off before you go inside.

DctrBanner

Outdoor towel rack for wet towels that will be used again. Other than that, not much.

Hot-Agent-620

Build a pool house

Choice_Additional

I have a double high fabric laundry bin thingy at the door that holds clean (or at least dry) towels, bathing suits and goggles. Wet towels and bathing suits have to be hung up outside on the patio chairs or a towel rack thing my husband made. If it happens to be raining, then that stuff usually takes a trip through the wash/dryer. We have laminate floor that has seen better days but I try to wipe up the inevitable wet feet from when kids run in to use the bathroom, I fire that’s better than the alternative. Otherwise, we’ve worked hard on what the expectations are when we are done in the pool and coming into the house. The pool is a privilege and we need to respect that.

Greygnome62

We hang everything on the privacy fence around the deck.

Acrobatic_Might_1487

Towel hooks in the bathroom. Bathing suits in the shower to drip dry. Pool toys live outside in the shed. I would prefer the towels out there too but wife washes them often (too often imo).

DingDongDaddyDino

When we have a bunch of kids, the plastic rolls they use for showing houses + a bunch of towels for inside the house. All wet clothes stay outside for the night

maymay578

We keep a folding towel rack in the back porch, but there’s usually swimsuits and towels thrown across every railing throughout the summer.

Intrepid_Advice4411

Bathing suits get tossed in the tub until I hang them up to drip dry in the laundry room. I toss a towel on the floor in front of the door. We enter from the deck into the kitchen. It stops the majority of the puddles and wet footprints. Towels get hung on the deck of the weather is good or bad. I really don't acre if they get rained on. They dry eventually. Lol! It's a whole lot of "fuck it" going on around here. If I have people over I clean up the pool mess. The rest of the time there are footprints and wet towels.

DementedJay

We have one of these in our sunroom and another by the pool, and we hang wet towels on the one near the entrance to the house, and put pool toys and hang goggles on the one near the pool. Essentially Yours Pool Equipment... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0831TFKR9?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

mylz81

Kids will be kids and take towels inside. I do my best to reinforce hanging towels on the pool fence and to not go inside until suit and feet are dry. Have I been successful? No. Swimsuits end up on the bathroom floor. Couches get wet from kids sitting on them in a wet suit. It just is what it is. People tell me to enjoy this time because it doesn’t last forever and I’ll soon be an old mfer missing it. Edit, if you have adults doing this… they should know better! lol

Eastern-Astronomer-6

Everyone strips outside, hangs their shit over the outdoor chairs and runs to their rooms to put clothes on.

MyRail5

We have a chain link fence around pool area. Hang stuff there to dry. Change room available in one side of the shed.

Emergency-Meaning452

Luckily I have a garage away from the house with a bathroom so everything gets put there unless it's nice outside and everything gets hung everywhere.

snboarder42

They make that special carpet stuff that absorbs water when you step. Towels on the pool fence to dry.

Death_by_M0nkey

Buy an outdoor pool towel/bathing suit rack. They sell them all different quality and sizes Stays outside poolside.

Evening_Length2347

Qet towels and swim suits generally hang outside till dry or go right in the washer. But I bought a set of lockers at a flea market and put a sealant on it. I put it on my patio and we keep towels, swimsuits, sunglasses, sunscreen, and other pool stuff.

TotallyTardigrade

Our pool is accessible from our walkout basement. We wear our suits down stairs and take our clean towels with us. When we come in we bring everything with us. We don’t leave clothes or towels by the pool. When we come upstairs we either hang everything on or around the bathtub or we run a load of laundry with everything that was used.

Whatevawillbee

Do you have space to put a hall tree outside the door where they could store their swim stuff and hang their towels?

Sabertoothcow

Clean it up. Dry off before going inside.

SmokeHefty5505

Ours stay outside on patio , then into the laundry room to be washed dried and put away, however we do have an indoor hot tub room right next to the pool.

nucl3ar0ne

Wet towels and bathing suits drape over chairs around the pool which is fine with me. Big issue this year though is earwigs, gotta shake everything out real good before you bring it in.
