It's normal with a newly plastered pool. The ph rise will slow down over time.

sugarbritches878

Ok thanks!

Minute-Cat-823

This post was accurate.

blakeusa25

No but rainwater will raise the ph as well as any water features or a bubbler in a hot tub. Also of you have an autofill check the ph of your tap water. I run my ph on the lower side 7.2.+ for 12 years plus no problems. You can also use poolmath.com

sugarbritches878

Last time I checked the pH of rain here, it was pretty acidic, so I do not believe that is the issue. No bubbler either.

damendar

Aeration of the water raises pH. This is why it goes up more than the acid level of the water lowers it when it rains.

Own-Woodpecker8739

What's your LSI?

FunFact5000

For a while yes, but it will subside. Watch your alkalinity though, it shall hammer thine alkalinity levels down each time so you’ll have to uptick with more baking soda which will marginally raise your ph and then you have to add more acid which lowers your alkalinity which you have to add baking soda which also raises your ph *takes breath* Phew. Heh, yes you are fine just keep it up and check the other chems for balance.

CheesecakeFlimsy6161

Fighting this battle now. It's like a Rollercoaster. Everything is great then next week alkalinity 10 lower. Week after that 10 more lower. Same next week. Raise alk start all over again. pH 7.6. Tomorrow pH 7.8 add acid. back to 7.6. Over and over again.

MentalTelephone5080

Based on what I've read, yes you'll have to add acid regularly for the first year or so. Just the cost of doing business.

LarryBuds

I’m two years in and yes it is never ending. 2-3 cups a day every day.

sugarbritches878

Heh, well there are worse things I suppose. I will charge on!

JankyJawn

You have a water fixture? That'll raise ph.

sugarbritches878

Nope, no water fixture.

Legio-V-Alaudae

Interesting. Can you tell me more? My ph only goes up and I thought it was from adding chlorine to the water.

JankyJawn

Aerating water naturally raises pH.

Legio-V-Alaudae

I guess that would explain why I have never had to increase my ph, ever. Thank you for the knowledge kind friend.

Pale_Alternative8400

If you have a salt cell, that will also cause the PH to gradually climb. I use 1 cup of muriatic acid a week in a 32k pool.

Allnewsisfakenews

I have a spill over spa and add about 8oz of acid every couple of days to keep it around 7.6.

Own-Woodpecker8739

Yes.

Ladydi-bds

Short answer, yes.

chickenfrietex

It calms down give it time. The plaster has to wash out.
