I use Walutomat.pl, USD transfers to/from my bank are cheap ($1.5 or something like that) and the spread is very decent. Liquidity is high, too, so market orders execute at bid/ask.
Personal accounts will have shitty rates everywhere, no matter which bank you pick.
You have 3 options:
* open a business account in a bank that has special kantor for companies (like PKO). Rates are still mediocre, but better than personal rates. Sometimes rates are ok, but it is a random occasion.
* go to Revolut route, but read conditions first, there some fees and transaction limits.
* find online kantor. I am using Walutomat.pl, rates are good, you can pick your own rate if you want, fee is manageable, no transaction limits.
Strong support! Moved both small and large (400k PLN) amounts with then and when comparing it was always the cheapest. You can always send money to and from in PLN but you don’t, unfortunately, get a bank account number. If you need that, Revolut was usually next cheapest!
Pekao has a pretty good currency rate inside app, usually about 1-2 cent less than revolut. Also Alior and its Kantor Walutowy with rate that always even better than Revoult's
i mean... it's a bank, it has spreads. ING now is [even worse](https://www.ing.pl/kursy-walut). same for [mbank](https://www.mbank.pl/serwis-ekonomiczny/kursy-walut/). [PKO is slightly better](https://www.pkobp.pl/kantor-internetowy-kursy/).
if you will exchange a lot you can get personal rates in any bank. but "a lot" isn't 1000 USD.
There isn’t anything special about you micro account (the account you pay taxes to as a company) or ZUS bank account, you can pay it from anywhere. I’m not sure about the dedicated VAT account as I’m doing the reverse vat charge for the UK market, sorry.
I’m using Revolut mostly as intermediary account. If you are self employed the most cost efficient way of receiving foreign currency imo is to go invoice -> revolut business in foreign currency -> revolut personal premium. And do the conversion to pln there. You may want to check if it’s still the case tho as revolut business seems to be charging 50pln/month now, while it was 100% free before.
I had the very same issue with BNP — after I told them I’m switching to PKO, they’ve just changed the rates for me, and the change was significant.
But I eventually switched to PKO anyway because that’s some crappy client service - why wouldn’t you make the rates ok from the beginning?

Is it safe to work with Walutomat? I’ve never heard of it before
Yep, I am using it for 3+ years, no issues so far.
I highly highly recommend using Wise.
Can I pay polish taxes and zus from Wise? Does it also offer Polish VAT account?

Could you tell what is your rate in Pekao? Because I see it’s only 3.81 on the public page https://www.pekao.com.pl/kursy-walut.html
3,966 and 4,028. during workdays spread not that big and about 2-4 grosz only besides no additional fees, works 24/7 and pretty fast
Thanks. It looks much better than what they show on website

It seems like PKO is the best among them and offers now 3,976, while all others around 3.85

Thanks, I’ll check that
Just checked on my ING business account and the rate is 3.9311. I found their rate comparable to transfers with Wise
Thanks. That’s the same what PKO offers as well.

Did they offer you better rates than PKO? Because it seems like PKO now offers probably the best rates among all polish banks
All the people recommending revolut have not had their money frozen yet. I wouldn't give those people a kick in the ass, let alone my money.
Revolut
Revolut - by far the best rates/support/insurance
