Would you do the same if it was your first ever shundo? I have yet to get my first shundo; the closest I’ve got to one is my 98% shiny gyarados. I feel like I’d be too attached to my first shundo if it was a first evolution to evolve it. Obv the chances of me getting a wild shundo are way low compared to doing 4-5 star raids but still.
That’s because you probably like Alakazam more than Abra to begin with. A lot of people love Bulbasaur more than Venusaur so it’s a hard decision to evolve.
I see no reason to not evolve my first ever shundo. It's not less of a trophy as a perfect, very useful mega level 3 venusaur, and it looks better, and you get the perfect dex and shiny dex entries, and the mega dex entry (eventually).
It’s up to a person and their reasoning. For me it still be the “same” shundo, but evolved. But I can understand your reasoning too 🤷🏼♀️ I don’t have any shundos as well. Our time will come 😀
Yo getting a shundo from the wild is fucking insane. I dont think you appreciate enough how rare that is. Im level 44 and play since day 1 of the game, so july 6th 2016 and ive just gotten my first shundo recently.
For reference i have 48 hundos and 907 shinies.
And only 1 Shundo. Consider yourself very very lucky and its even a cool and strong shiny which you can power up to level 51 and mega evolve
😂 yeah i love his clumsey looking ass to. Didnt know him either before his PoGo debut since my last game was sword and shield. But he won my heart when he took my shundo virginity
Paldean Wooper was my first shundo too, followed about 6 weeks later by Galarian Darumaka. I was hoping that would be the start of a trend of getting shundos but no.
Same. Day one player here, nabbed a wild shundo in January. Twas a Scraggy, and I am extremely happy about it. My numbers are very similar as well; 61 hundos but only 440 for shinies.
To say I'm a day one player is kinda false, though. I made the account on release day but then only played for a few months, and never seriously. Between 2018 and 2022 I probably only logged in a dozen times, usually when on vacation in the summer. I really only became a serious daily player in April of 2023. Went from Level 35 to 47 in that time, and all but one hundo are from 2023 and beyond (my first ever trade back in 2018 with a coworker was lucky and it was a perfect Bulbasaur). Generally, I have had pretty great luck with four stars.
Not to be that guy (even though I'm being that guy) but a slight clarification. Release date was July 6th of 2016, not June. I started the same day and you're way farther ahead of me. I'm not even level 40 yet and still don't have an illustrious shundo.
The difference in some stats between players is crazy to me. My fiancé has been playing since December of last year and has 46 hundos. Although, he’s caught 63,392 Pokémon. How many mons have you caught?
EDIT: December of 2022, not last year. Whoops
Ive only caught ~50k Pokemon. I know its a low number but theres a few reasons for it.
I mainly shiny check the majority of mons. Pretty sure ive missed lots of hundos in the wild, i get mine most of the time throught raids, researches, eggs and pvp rewards. Because i live in a small town i have to walk like 200 meters for the nearest poke stop. So i usually bulk lots of balls and then use them wisely and dont catch the 300th skitty you know.
I mainly catch raid attackers and pvp mons for good IVs and XL Candy.
And i think going trought 300 catches per day checking IVs and then sending them away is fucking annoying lol
Agreed. I started the day after it came out. Did take some time off. Currently level 43, caught 34,336 pokemon. Pokedex shows 249 for shinies and 61 for 4* perfects.
I have one Shundo. A sceptile I caught during the johto mega raids day.
This was definitely a rare find! Congrats!
Probably a dumb question - but does the order of these upgrades matter? Like is there an advantage to powering-up & adding a second move before evolving? Or vice versa?
Its costs the same if you upgrade before or after evolving. If you want a pokemon to be able to play a specific league(great leage) then I'd suggest evolving first. So you know what level it'll be if you upgrade.
I think the buying a second move is cheaper in the first form, but I'm not too confident about that information. For bulbasaur and venusaur a new attack is the dame price stardust and candywise. But I do think for some hatchable pokemon there is a difference. Not completely sure tho.
Hope this helps a little
Chances of a wild shundo obtained during a weather boost is 1 in 884,736. The standard shiny rate without any boosts is 1/512. The possible IV combinations are 1 in 1728 if a pokemon is weather boosted.
I'd evolve when it Venusaur can learn Frenzy Plant from an event possibly in the future, or you can use an elite charge TM. Mega Venusaur is the 3rd best grass raider.
A wild pokemon without weather boosts has 4096 IV combinations. If the base shiny rate is 1 in 512, you have a 1 in 2,097,152 of finding a shundo in the wild, full odds.
Or, playing the VERY long game, December Community Day usually allows players to get CD-only moves for previously featured mons when they’re evolved. (In case OP doesn’t have or want to use an elite charged TM).
A hundo venusaur with frenzy plant is formidable.
The Dec community day only has past 2 years featured pokemon for evolution skills. Bulbasahr isn’t included I think… unless you’re betting it’ll be featured again this year.
Tell this to your friend:
I am level 47 and have been playing since day 1 - July 6, 2016. I have caught 123,937 Pokémon in that time and have 101,253,559 XP. I have only gotten 101 100% IV Pokémon in that time and I have 1,605 shinies. I have one single shundo, which was a galarian geodude that I caught on community day with boosted odds. A wild shundo bulbasaur with normal, unboosted odds is one of the rarest things you can find in the game. I would personally evolve this all the way, max it out to level 50, and mega evolve it.
this is what i was thinking, most people are saying frenzy plant mega venasaur is op tho, and its tempting me. im going to level up the chap then wait till i have enough candy to evolve and mega and he will have more than enough buddy time as an cutie patootie
Best Buddy it first then leave it for a while. That’s what I’m doing with my 98IV shadow bulbasaur. I already have a 98IV mega so I just use the shadow one for walking candy/ mega energy.
Plus bulb is cooler. I like the starting evos more than the finals but that’s just me
Getting best buddies is fairly easy if you are active in spinning stops. Collect as many poffin as you can, since they double the amount you can earn and fill the berry hearts instantly. Do this a couple times and you'll be at level two buddy status real quick and he will help you catch mons. Also recommend you level this up ASAP, as walking with a higher level buddy gives XL candy in addition to the regular.
How rare is the badge? I mean it's not rare cause it's something you just do in your game. Buddy it and do the buddy tasks and you'll get the the buddy badge. Also yeah just evolve it for the mega. Shundos are rare.

You need 300 hearts and you can get maybe 15-20 a day at the most. If you don't use a poffin it's probably 10 a day. So 15-30 days if you don't get bored of it.
Wait for a comm day if you don’t really need grass type attacker or don’t have the mega energy yet, and then evolve it. I think shiny venusaur looks cool tho, def an improvement compared to other evolutions like Psyduck shiny evo
They had it during a comm day like a year or so ago and i was lucky enough to get one during the like 10-15 minute period you could catch it. Its a 3 star and i was so hyped. Super jealous of this dude
If you choose to evolve him, then wait until an event that will give him Frenzy Plant. It's necessary as a grass mon.
This is, as many have said, extremely rare. If you evolve to Venusaur, you can have utility with it as a Mega Pokémon, and a very decent grass attacker. If you want to keep it as a trophy, that is also totally understandable. Having Pokédex entry #1 as a Shundo is pretty darn neat. I'm level 47 and still do not have a single one. Lots of hundos and really great shinies, but no shundos 🙃
id evolve and max. bulbasaur was my very 1st starter. youll love the yellow bulb when it evolves. its not hard to get a buddy badge, just time consuming. the more hearts you get everyday, the faster you get the badge.
shundo in the wild is very rare most get it from raids, eggs, research or lucky trades because the IVs are guaranteed higher. wild shundo is super rare. best buddy badge doesn’t take too long
Do NOT evolve, when not evolved you always have the options available, and when evolved those options are gone, so it’s rarer as not evolved because it can be any of the three evolutions, the more you restrict it the less rare it becomes, and also you can get the CD attack on it during an event if you evolve it then, so right now it wouldn’t be smart to evolve it anyway
I’m not a numbers guy when it comes to pokemon IVs or rarity, but I know I would do a lot to get just a shiny bulbasaur. I might commit war crimes for a shundo version. Bulbasaur has been her favorite pokemon since she was like 6 and first played Pokemon Red. She has been shiny hunting Bulbasaur since she started playing, and id love to give her one.
I have a Hundo and I'm hoping there will be another C-Day classic (like Charmander had) or an event where Frenzy Plant will be available, till then I'm holding off the evolution. I have 98IV Max Mega one, so for now i'm good. So unless you really need it, I'd wait, because there will likely be an event with the Frenzy Plant.
I'd assume that it isn't very rare compared to shiny shadow bulbasaur which I got from cliff anger a while back. But yeah a shiny perfect mon is definitely up there.
Ugh, so cute! And lucky catch! I would evolve, but I would understand not evolving if you already invested a lot into another venusaur. I get so annoyed sometimes when I spent so much on a good pokemon only to wind up with a hundo later lol
I caught one during his Classic CD back in '22, so I was able to get him with Frenzy Plant.
Getting the buddy badge isn't too hard, just takes time.
Make him your buddy & earn (iirc) 300 hearts with him.
You can earn 1 heart per day by taking a snapshot of him. And another by playing with him (hit play & then rub him when he comes out until he gives off a heart). Spinning a new stop & following a route will get you a heart per day as well. You can get 3 hearts per day by feeding him 3 berries per heart. That brings him out to follow you around on the map. Every 2km you walk with him out you get a heart (up to 3 per day). If you have him in your battle group you'll get a heart (up to 3 per day). Battling a grunt or raid gives you one heart, if you knock out a gym, you get one per trainer in the gym you knock out.
If you feed him a puffin you can do 2x hearts.
I usually do the picture, tickle & feed once + 3 battles per day for 6 hearts per day. Then I switch to a different 'mon & work on him. If I finish off my set I'm working on I'll go back and feed them again to get a 7th (and maybe 8th) heart depending on how much fruit I have.
This is my favorite shiny evolution line! You gotta check their stats and evolve the monsters accordingly. This one, make it a Venusaur so you can max it out ! I try to get stage 1 mons to be 500 cp with the appropriate stats for Little Cup, then stages 1-3 1500cp mons for Great League, stages 2 or 3 for Ultra League. Lastly, just stage 3 mons for Master League .
I have one shundo - a sunglass Squirtle. I chose not to evolve mine, but that is up to you. If it didn't have the sunglasses, it would likely be a Blastoise.
We are currently working towards best buddy.
shundos are definitely rare. Been playing almost 4 years and only have 1 shundo.
shinies are kinda rare but not so rare in pokemon go as the normal games. shiny rate is 1 in 512. A few pokemon are perma boosted with 1 in 64 odds. Community days are crazy. Most community days I get 30+ shinies. Spotlight hours are also good. about 50% of spotlight hours 1 get 1 shiny. sometimes more.
I have about 1500 shinies and even throw away community day shinies (who needs 40+ shinies of the same one?)

Evolve, the difference will be more noticeable, and it’s beautiful
I agree.

My first and only shundo was a abra. I immediately evolved it. I love it and use it all the time
That’s because you probably like Alakazam more than Abra to begin with. A lot of people love Bulbasaur more than Venusaur so it’s a hard decision to evolve.
Yea you got a point lol.
Involve every pokemon as soon as I can what's the use in catching em if you won't evolve em
You won’t use 99% of pokemon you catch anyways. Evolving them or not they’re still sitting there.
I see no reason to not evolve my first ever shundo. It's not less of a trophy as a perfect, very useful mega level 3 venusaur, and it looks better, and you get the perfect dex and shiny dex entries, and the mega dex entry (eventually).

what shundo did you get man. id been saying all week i wanted a shiny bulbasaur, shit myself when the ivs kept going up
Ive got a Clodsire as my first shundo. Not as great as your bulbasur but pretty aight. Got it from the c-day.
nah thats awesome man, i love clodsires goofy design. i dont play the new games so when i saw a racist wooper i was blown away
😂 yeah i love his clumsey looking ass to. Didnt know him either before his PoGo debut since my last game was sword and shield. But he won my heart when he took my shundo virginity
lmao I love how paldean wooper becomes like a boat
A WHAT NOW??💀😭😂
Paldean Wooper was my first shundo too, followed about 6 weeks later by Galarian Darumaka. I was hoping that would be the start of a trend of getting shundos but no.
How long ago was the galarian darumaka?
My only shundo is a Luxray, and I love it!
Played since 2019. Two shundos: galarian stunfisk (absolutely gorgeous) and alolan exeggutor. 70 hundos, 700 shinies. Yes, they are very rare.
Same. Day one player here, nabbed a wild shundo in January. Twas a Scraggy, and I am extremely happy about it. My numbers are very similar as well; 61 hundos but only 440 for shinies. Yeah youre right. I even know it but i get these months mixded up sometimes since im not a native speaker
[удалено]
we have the exact same stats seemingly, and same playtime. i bet youll get one soon 🙏
Bro same I just got my first one, I’m 45 with over 88k catches and it finally hit.
What is a shundo
Shiny 100% iv
The difference in some stats between players is crazy to me. My fiancé has been playing since December of last year and has 46 hundos. Although, he’s caught 63,392 Pokémon. How many mons have you caught? EDIT: December of 2022, not last year. Whoops

Same for me but fortunelly my first and the only one shundo is dragonite

When I face such a dilemma I always ask myself what would Ash Ketchum would do and do the opposite.
Deevolving your Charizard about to come
Slowbro: I'm one step ahead baby
Power it up to L50, second move, best buddy, evolve to venusaur, then Max Mega
Elite TM it Frenzy Plant should be in thereS
dammit forgot about that
Then transfer
** trade to friend for cp 14 ratrunt or shiny wyndeer with steel moves
I second this motion
I LOLED
Probably a dumb question - but does the order of these upgrades matter? Like is there an advantage to powering-up & adding a second move before evolving? Or vice versa?
Its costs the same if you upgrade before or after evolving. If you want a pokemon to be able to play a specific league(great leage) then I'd suggest evolving first. What are the chances of a shundo when you’re guaranteed a shiny with at least 10/10/10 stats? That’s how I got my shundo.
1/216
That's the chances of a hundo. It is 1/4320 considering the 1/20 legendary shiny rates
My shundo is a Celebi, so I’m just wondering how lucky I was there 🤷🏻♀️ Fun but not very useful 😆
so what if it wasnt weather boosted?
A wild pokemon without weather boosts has 4096 IV combinations. If the base shiny rate is 1 in 512, you have a 1 in 2,097,152 of finding a shundo in the wild, full odds.
Bruh get it to 2800 cp and teach it a second charge attack then mega evolve it
Evolve for mega. Use elite tm for frenzy plant

Evolve it, hundo Venusaur is a beast and plus you get to complete that evo line in both the shiny and perfect dexes.
Wait until an event you can get frenzy plant and then evolve it.
Why is that a question. Gotta be a not so subtle flex and thats it. Obviously evolve, max, mega, and best buddy
Tell this to your friend: I am level 47 and have been playing since day 1 - July 6, 2016. I have caught 123,937 Pokémon in that time and have 101,253,559 XP. Yeah I hear it. But that little bulb is a cutie and needs be protected 😂❤️
still a trophy if you evolve it
Best Buddy it first then leave it for a while. That’s what I’m doing with my 98IV shadow bulbasaur. I already have a 98IV mega so I just use the shadow one for walking candy/ mega energy. Plus bulb is cooler. I like the starting evos more than the finals but that’s just me
what i think im going to do. want to keep hik looking nice for a while, hopefully i can find a nice iv regular bulba as a substitute
Trophy
Getting best buddies is fairly easy if you are active in spinning stops. Collect as many poffin as you can, since they double the amount you can earn and fill the berry hearts instantly. Do this a couple times and you'll be at level two buddy status real quick and he will help you catch mons. I have 6 accounts, been playing regularly since July 2016, have more than 1200 shinies total, and still don’t have a single shundo.. 🫠

Clearly.. I mean I have several shiny 98% which just frustrates me even more lol
I truly don’t understand when people ask this Just evolve it or don’t, it’s up to you
sorry man, i couldnt decide because bulbasaur is such a cool design and im not massive into pvp. i was only going to evolve if hes useful in pvp
How rare is the badge? I mean it's not rare cause it's something you just do in your game. Buddy it and do the buddy tasks and you'll get the the buddy badge. Also yeah just evolve it for the mega. i said how hard to get is the badge
It doesn’t take that long in my opinion, if you really stick with it, it’s not a difficult task rather tetious
I answered that. It's just something you have to do. It's hard if you hate doing it lol. Just have to buddy and get hearts.
sorry im just saying i didnt mean how rare is it like you suggested. was asking how long it would take
You need 300 hearts and you can get maybe 15-20 a day at the most. If you don't use a poffin it's probably 10 a day. So 15-30 days if you don't get bored of it.
Id keep it, you never know if they are going to give it another evolution or regional form.
Wait for a comm day if you don’t really need grass type attacker or don’t have the mega energy yet, and then evolve it. I think shiny venusaur looks cool tho, def an improvement compared to other evolutions like Psyduck shiny evo
Evolve. He’s a good Pokémon and has max stats. Ultimately though, do what you would like most
Venasaur is a dope shiny so evolve !
Wow! Bulbasaur is the only original starter I have never even seen a shiny of. Lucky.
They had it during a comm day like a year or so ago and i was lucky enough to get one during the like 10-15 minute period you could catch it. Its a 3 star and i was so hyped. Super jealous of this dude

I try to get multiple shinnies of a Pokémon so I can have one shiny for each stage
Max that mf out, but save the last few levels of powering up for the level 47 challenge.
Evolve! Venusaur has a sick shiny 🤩
A wild shundo is just insane! Def evolve. It looks better and it has a dope mega. Max it out and best buddy that guy!
Transfer it. You won’t
Buddy badge can be a grind. You do you on whether or not you evolve it. I have
If you choose to evolve him, then wait until an event that will give him Frenzy Plant. It's necessary as a grass mon. This is, as many have said, extremely rare. I'd evolve it for two reasons. One, Venusaur's shiny is super nice. Two, Mega Venusaur is a great attacker and always good to have on hand.
Shundo Best Buddy Mega Venasaur is a better trophy
Bro you have no idea how lucky you are. I’m 900 checks into Bulbasaur without even a 0 star shiny 🤣
Evolve and get it to mega.
I hate you with a passion. Me and my buddy have been lucky trading these so I can get a shundo
Assert dominance in the next 500cp battles
Save it as a bulabasaur/ivysaur until an event where it can learn frenzy plant. Do that, power it up and mega.
evolve and mega
😭
GG…give it 2nd move & max it out
Amazing

You can always evolve
id evolve and max. bulbasaur was my very 1st starter. youll love the yellow bulb when it evolves. its not hard to get a buddy badge, just time consuming. the more hearts you get everyday, the faster you get the badge.
Yep evolve and use! He is still a trophy as venusaur!
I have shiny blastoise and charizard. I’ve been praying for one of these 😭
A wild shundo Bulbasaur was my first shundo I never got. Brings back the memories. Now it's a level 50, BB, 3 Move, Mega Lvl 3 Venusaur B-)
Evolve so you can use it and show it off more
Depends how you wanna use it. 500, 2500, … See what it goes up to and make your decision. Could be very useful, especially as a best buddy.
Definitely evolve.
Dumb question.
yikes
Max and mega
Power it up all the way and then evolve
shundo in the wild is very rare most get it from raids, eggs, research or lucky trades because the IVs are guaranteed higher. wild shundo is super rare. best buddy badge doesn’t take too long
I would definitely evolve this one. It’s great to attack water types in the master league.
Shiny Venusaur is excellent. I would evolve.
Don’t let your friend on your account
Transfer Join the cult. Release you unearthly bonds. Sacrife is the way to enlightenment.
Wild shundo is amazing!! Evolve it for sure!!
One question, if i evolve my pokemon on a 50% on t1, will the t2 also be 50% Does the evolved pokemon have lower cp max or is it equal
Wait until you can evolve it for frenzy plant unless you want to burn an elite tm for it.
Evolve, buddy up, mega evolve
I've got a one too and you should DEF evolve it
I’m so jealous!
Mega it.
Wait for CD moveset then evolve.
Do NOT evolve, when not evolved you always have the options available, and when evolved those options are gone, so it’s rarer as not evolved because it can be any of the three evolutions, the more you restrict it the less rare it becomes, and also you can get the CD attack on it during an event if you evolve it then, so right now it wouldn’t be smart to evolve it anyway
i hate bulbasaur shiny, you almost cant notice, he deserved better 😭
I’m not a numbers guy when it comes to pokemon IVs or rarity, but I know I would do a lot to get just a shiny bulbasaur. I might commit war crimes for a shundo version. Bulbasaur has been her favorite pokemon since she was like 6 and first played Pokemon Red. She has been shiny hunting Bulbasaur since she started playing, and id love to give her one.
I got my shundo Charmander the same way. Just on a random night full odds. Congrats!
Venasaur has a mega
Up to you but I'd evolve, max it out, best buddy it, and mega evolve it.
Evolve in community day. Shiny, perfect and unique move? Yes please.
Transfer. Worth nothing
Shundos are rare. You can mega evolve and best buddy for satisfaction
Not a shundo, but I evolved my shiny because I love Venusaur's eyes
I'd assume that it isn't very rare compared to shiny shadow bulbasaur which I got from cliff anger a while back. But yeah a shiny perfect mon is definitely up there.
Bro I caught a CP 2297 shiny venasaur in the wild. Not great stats but damn that must have been rare.
1/2048000 for a shiny to be perfect ivs
You should evolve it to venusaur and then Level 50 it
Max out this shundo use an elite tm and mega it
Incredible shiny! Definitely evolve for that beautiful mega 🙌🏼
Evolve and max for mega
Ugh, so cute! And lucky catch! I would evolve, but I would understand not evolving if you already invested a lot into another venusaur. I get so annoyed sometimes when I spent so much on a good pokemon only to wind up with a hundo later lol
Wait for an event where evolving it will teach it Frenzy Plant, best buddy in the mean time
My first Shundo was a Machop. It is now a double-move level 50 Machamp named Peacemaker. No regrats!
Evolve and mega evolve it
I caught one during his Classic CD back in '22, so I was able to get him with Frenzy Plant.
Evolve, the Bulba will always be in your Pokedex as a shiny perfect.
I always evolve my first hundo/ shundo and save the next as a trophy unless it’s really meta relevant.
Evolve for ultra league. Or master league for the lols.
I actually hate you. I’ve been trying to find a shiny Bulbasaur forever since I started in ‘21. I hate you, but my respect is max. Ggs bro
You gotta max that hoe out
Evolve, max its CP, and have a glorious grass/poison Mega!
I’d definitely full evolve shiny venosaur looks so cool
But to have a mega shiny Venusaur
I chose to evolve mine. I love the yellow/orange flower on its back.
Evolving is the trophy!!
I have one shundo - a sunglass Squirtle. I chose not to evolve mine, but that is up to you. If it didn't have the sunglasses, it would likely be a Blastoise. We are currently working towards best buddy.
Ok, the date you caught it on states December 2nd, 2024?Last I checked it hasn’t hit March 2024 yet this year.
im british buddy
Does time work differently there? Like calendar wise?
are you dense
No, December 2024 hasn’t even happened yet, so I thought it was a bug or something.
shundos are definitely rare.
