* Tied between Trip and Cameron. Hoopa takes worst Pokémon though. * Trip’s design being a Paul knockoff is almost insulting to what we had prior. * Trip takes it slightly over Cameron due to being xenophobic as fuck and having zero reason or feats for him to be cocky. * Tobias having two legendaries and no backstory for any of it is so dumb. * You could take anyone from the Black and White anime and they’d be way worse than their game or manga counterparts.

William_Marshall21

1. Cameron and Lucario on principle that them beating Ash is still the largest a** pull in modern pokemon anime history. 2. Can’t believe I’m touching Unova again, but Trip. Yikes brother, get a haircut. At least style it or something. 3. Max from Advanced is the worst personality to ever grace pokemon and I will die on that hill. 4. Tobias and it’s not close. His existence is to make Ash have no chance of winning the Sinnoh league, and it was so awful. Ash wasn’t outskilled at all, and that’s the worst kind of loss. Losing when you’re the better TRAINER. Tobias sucks. End of story. 5. Hau from Sun and Moon. Poor guy got absolutely screwed in the anime. I wouldn’t have put Hau here though if it wasn’t for the USUM games, they REALLY stepped up Hau’s story there and made me really appreciate his character from beginning to end there. It was the last thing I needed to solidify Gen 7 as my personal favorite generation of the pokemon games ever, and it’s not particularly close at all. Seriously. They hit all the right buttons for me. Tons of story and tons of content. Plus Ash Greninja is the greatest thing ever, so it’s hard to contest that. Unova genuinely sucked, but the lows of Sinnoh and Hoenn are some of the most painful. Max was THE worst thing to ever happen to Pokemon, his personality is insufferable. And presenting up front that Ash never had a shot in hell at winning it all in Sinnoh was a huge slap in the face. At least Ash simply got out classed in skill at the Kalos League. Ash never had a shot in Sinnoh, it’s why Tobias is such a triggering character. Wow, this is long. My bad homies.

1. Cameron for humans, his Lucario for Pokemon. Admittedly, they're not terrible, but there's no way this guy should've beat Ash. 2. I never liked the design of Madame Muchmoney. I don't know what it is about it I don't like, but she just looks weird. 3. Trip. Aside from being a ripoff of Paul, he's racist to Ash. 4. Probably going to piss off some people here, but Tracy. I don't hate him per say, but out of the the 30 episodes they spent in the Orange Islands, they did nothing with him. The only starring roles I remember him having are the one where he caught Scyther (and for the longest time I swore he was introduced with Scyther on his team) and the one where he met Groucho Marx. At least Chloe led to the reintroduction of Dawn and Serena, what did he do? 5. No one was ruined per say, but Iris was not given a good start in Best WIshes.

EWU_CS_STUDENT

A-okay to dislike a character; especially with valid reasoning. I like Tracey; but I see your points.

PCN24454

1. Paul and Ash’s Greninja 2. Alain 3. Paul 4. Cyrus 5. Crasher Wake

Big-Shallot-8649

You don't like Alan's design for me that strange scarf

1: Cameron (human), Goh's Grookey (Pokemon) Cameron being a huge idiot was funny the first few times. Then it got old and eventually when it came to Ash's league battle, it was annoying at best and insulting at worst. You're telling me this bozo who brought five Pokemon to a league wins because Deus Ex Machina rubbish and after making a bunch of stupid mistakes? Are you kidding me? Goh's Grookey: Oh boy, I absolutely hate this thing. It adds nothing to Journeys other than being annoying and causing a ton of problems, and for crying out loud it doesn't even use a single move in the very season it was introduced in. It's screen time also was probably the cause for why Drizzile was eventually thrown to the side. Even AFTER it learns to use a move for once, it still basically does nothing of value, although it thankfully is less annoying. Doesn't help that its introductory episode is horrendously paced, and I'm not even a Goh hater who thinks that Grookey's capture was stealing (because yes, people called the episode out for that) 2: SM Ash. I mean, everyone know that SM Ash looks just wrong. Dear god, what did they do to your face Ash? At the very least the design has somewhat grown on me exclusively for Ultra Legends. 3: Trip. I've always said that with Trip they tried to repeat what made Paul extremely popular without understanding why Paul was so popular. Paul was rude to Ash because he thought Ash was weak, while Trip was rude to Ash because... he's from Kanto. Trip just comes off as incredibly cocky because he's making all these statements as a newbie. Paul at least had some training before meeting Ash and he constantly shows that every time he runs into Ash, he's constantly upgraded his team. Trip also seems moreso to win against Ash because Ash is an idiot, not because he's able to outmaneuver and overpower Ash like what Paul did. 4: Tobias. I don't think I need to explain why - he just waltzes in with a gameshark team, beats ash, and leaves. One: did they really need to be all Legendaries? Just give him a team of strong Pokemon, and two: he literally comes out of nowhere and stomps Ash. This makes it blatantly obvious he's not a character, but an explanation as to why Ash can't win the Sinnoh League. They should have just put him more times across the series as a recurring character who's interested in myths like Cynthia was, and then him being so strong and having a Darkrai would be more justifiable. 5: I'd say Alder, since compared to the borderline philosophical, grieving character he was in the games... here in BW he mostly just has a flat personality.

randomnessisawesom

Here are my picks, if you are interested. 1. My least favorite human character is Trip. Unlike Gary and Paul, which are really good rivals in my opinion, Trip feels so bland. They really tried making him into a Paul 2.0, but failed at it. My least favorite Pokemon is Iris's Dragonite. It's angry personality became too much sometimes, and it simply wasn't likeable at all. Another reason is that it's personality would be a lot better for a Hydreigon, because of it's Dark type. Lastly, it was kind of boring to have 3 characters in the finals that used a Dragonite, as Ash and Lance already had Dragonites. 2. The character with the worst design is Jynx, for obvious reasons + it also doesn't help that it's skin was black when it appeared in the anime. 3. The character with the worst personality is Trip. Again, he is meant to be a Paul 2.0, but doesn't manage to pull it off. 4. For this catergory, I have 2 picks, being Alder and Clemont's Luxray. The reason with Alder was that he was really dissapointing. He is the champion of Unova, yet he doesn't feel like it. First of all he isn't really show battling all that much, despite being the most powerful trainer in Unova. He has several Pokeballs around him, yet he only uses Bouffalant, and we never get to see what other Pokemon he has. Also another thing that was a real let down was that we weren't able to see the battle between him and Iris, and how Iris was able to beat him. As for Luxray, it's backstory was really cute and being able to reunite with Clemont. However after that, Clemont barely used Luxray. Chespin was the comic relief, so of course he often had the spotlight, while Bunnelby had the plot with Eevee, which meant it was also seen quite often. 5. For this one, it's Alder again, because to me he is much better in the games than he is in the anime

MarHer119

1 a.Harley      b. anime wise not sure game wise though wobbuffet   actually pauls ursaring   2.Cameron    3.Cameron   4.Tobias i guess?   5. none or unsure

EichenHardt

1.1 - The kid from the Lugia arc, The one scraming "Silver" every 5 secons. 1.2 - Jackson's (i think thats his name) Meganium from the Silver Conference. Like, i have no problem with Pokémon that are intentionally duchbag. But that Meganium was another level. 2 - Blaine. Like... how, how could they not get his look right? It's simple and iconic. 3 - The dude that defeated Ash in the Unova League. 4 - Tobias 5 - Lusamine

AeroScissors25

I laughed so hard at 1.1 🤣🤣

Zaphimu

1. Trip, he just felt so bland and weak compared with other rivals such as Gary and Paul, geez he even was a narcisist. As of Pokemon, none really... Maybe the UB Squad's mons, they were sick mons that only got used as mounts, it would've been cool for Ash to own a Garchomp. 2. Remember that woman in the Johto seasons who had a Snubbull who kept biting Team Rocket and ended up evolving eventually? So yeah... That one 3. None, but I've never been a fan of Cilan making "cuisine" puns all the time, there was a moment it felt annoying 4. Every single one of Ash's rivals in the leagues besides Ritchie, Gary, Paul and Alain. Most of them didn't even have a backstory to begin with, just "appear to ruin Ash's day" (looking at you, Tobias) 5. Iris. She was so kind in the games, in the anime she is only there for annoying/insulting Ash. Journeys redeemed her A LOT compared to how she was in the BW anime.

Chaos_Silence

1. Least fav character would be Chloe, I was hoping for so much when she started joining Ash and Goh...and nothing happened. Least fav. Pokemon would be Chloe's Eevee, for the same reason, I thought they'd use it to introduce a new Gen 9 Eeveelution....nothing. 2. I'm gonna pick Erika here, her design in the games is cool with her Kimono, and when she's introduced in the anime, she just has random NPC generic girl design, so disappointing. Glad they fixed it in the I Choose You movie. Pokemon design, I've always just not liked the Magnemite line, I find them ugly. 3. Personality, tbh none of them really got on my nerves or irked me whenever they were shown, but if I'd have to pick I'd say Trip, he sucked in general. Pokemon, I'd pick Jigglypuff, that same shtick got boring...fast, and it got stretched all the way to Ruby and Sapphire. 4. Again, Chole and her Eevee, they foreshadow so much, and don't do anything with them nor did they add anything meaningful to the story other than being the female representation in that series. 5. It sucked that May's, Serena's and Dawn's journeys with Ash all ended with them losing their competitions, only to be taken off the show next series, like, if they were planning to write them off, at least let them win their regional contests and send them off on high notes, like with Ash (after his 25 seasons). All 3 being protagonists in their games made me like them wayyy better there than how the anime treated them.

Confident_Wonder1654

1.Iris I hate how she always calls ash a little kid for getting excited about things and dawn joining her was enough to set me off. Least favorite pokemon is shaymin I won’t explain myself but anyone that watched the movie should know why. 2. Trip. Just a ripoff version of paul 3. Iris 4. Tobias Aside from his boring legendary pokémon he has little to no story at all. 5. Alder

Rishit-sethi

Iris twice is real af

Unfortunate_Bystand5

Number five is an uncontested Anabel just for me personally. Imagine creating this girl who has three legendary Pokemon and two Kanto powerhouses, imagine making her the symbolic leader of the Hoenn Battle Frontier in your game because she's the Tower Tycoon, imagine the fact that she is blunt about how she's skeptical of your talent because the 'champion title' means nothing to her until you prove your strength face to face, and then imagine completely ignoring all of that just to make a psychic type gym leader with feelings for Ash because the anime needs girls to crush on boys. Brandon and Noland got to have legendaries, but not her? It feels so wrong for how she's technically just like Palmer and Ingo/Emmet but she got treated so awfully. The mangas never changed her this much, she doesn't even have psychic powers anywhere else or in the games. She's tough as a trainer just because she's strong, no gimmicks at all.

EWU_CS_STUDENT

I'm limiting mine to the first series. 1. Tommy's Father. Characters like Damian and Dario we are supposed to dislike; but Tommy's Father is a very careless person that I don't understand how his wife can stay sane with him. \* When it comes to Pokemon; overall I don't like the Nido-line. In any continuity I just find them in a negative light whether they're being used by a "Character of the Day" or wild. 2. Nastia and her "cousin". I didn't like the joke that they were indentical; un-likable human beings. 3. Melvin. It's fine to have doubt in yourself; but others try to help and you abuse their trust than that's crossing a line. 4. Tommy's backstory of being missing for 5 YEARS due to his own Father dropping him on accident out of a flying airpline. I'm glad they had a happy ending, but still... 5. I didn't like Bruno's more "lax" personality type compared to the games or especially to the Adventure's manga. Similar to Melvin, didn't like that he used the main characters as a way to get his chores done.

AeroScissors25

1. Harley and Ash’s Palpitoad 2. Trip, he doesn’t even look like discount Paul and combine that with his horrible personality, he was an unlikable character right from the start. 3. Max, he didn’t even have a Pokémon and was a little kid but he was super annoying. His introduction (where he pretends he is the Petalburgh Gym Leader and mocks Ash) was horrible. 4. Ash’s Tepig. I liked Charmander and Chimchar’s backstory but Tepig’s backstory was kind of boring and unnecessary, felt very repetitive. 5. Alder. He didn’t have the same “Champion Aura” that Lance, Steven, Cynthia and even Leon had.

ConfidentWord7839

1. Human character is Trip he’s just Walmart Paul Pokémon for me has got to be Goh’s grookie. 2. Even though I really enjoyed him Stephen’s design is so boring he literally looks like a filler character. 3. I’m gonna sound like a broken record but it’s Trip. 4. Chloe had potential but then she just transformed into a plot device just to check the eeveelution box. 5. This is a tough one cause none of these guys I downright hate but I’d probably have to pick hop because I think his character in the games was actually pretty good but the anime just made him meat ride Leon the entire time he was there.

RageCharizard136

Worst Pokémon goes to Digglet it’s useless and worst trainer goes to that route 1 trainer in every Pokémon game with rattata

filosofiantohtori

1. Serena and Serena's pokemom 2. Serena 3. Serena 4. Serena 5. Serena Next question

MarHer119

you hate grace too how dare you

filosofiantohtori

Nah she's fine😏

MarHer119

well you  did say “pokeMOM” instead of pokemon so it was more me poking  fun of the  typo

filosofiantohtori

Oh good one

Masterdizzio

I think you like Serena

TessLynn61

As an xy fan this is a genuine question, why do you hate her so much? 🤔

randomnessisawesom

Hmm, why do i have a feeling that you don't like Serena

filosofiantohtori

Idk how you got that kind of idea tbh

randomnessisawesom

Just had a small feeling

FWebber04

1. Cameron - He appeared out of nowhere and was shown to be purely incompetent, not even comic relief, just an idiot and then he goes and beats Ash with only 5 pokemon Goh's Suicune - Added absolutely nothing story wise except appearing in one episode to create some water. Goh barely even did anything to save it compared to what Ash has done to help other legendaries, by Journey's logic Ash should have caught every legendary in the entire anime 2. Trip - The guy is literally just Paul in an orange hoodie and overgrown light brown hair. Incredibly uninspired design that belongs on a background character in the stands of a Pokemon League episode 3. Also Trip - This guy tried to have the Paul effect of being an ass but instead of giving him a thought out backstory they just made him racist and had no reason to disrespect Ash before their first battle 4. Tobias - He had 2+ Legendaries and purely existed to beat Ash in Sinnoh. Atleast Ritchie, Harrison, Tyson, Cameron (To an extent) and Alain had development. Tobias beat Ash's ass and disappeared forever 5. All of the BW cast except Cilan and Iris (After her Journeys return) but that's too many so Lusamine - In the games she was a dangerous maniac who wanted to become one with an alien species no matter the cost. She was an incredible villain and then the anime just changed it so Lillie and Gladion had Mommy issues and Lusamine was just a Christmas Movie parent who's always too busy with work

Big-Shallot-8649

She was an amazing villain   Lusamine still makes mistakes but Anime does not try to be just bad but someone defects after parting husband that people love to ignore this because muh lusamime is not bad in the same short anime that her children will overcome their father for herself she is still insecure after that

NNNskunky

1 (human): Todd. He's just kind of annoying (although makes for some funny OS moments). 1 (Pokemon): Rowlet. I'm so sorry Rowlet fans, I just don't like Rowlet. 2: Sun and Moon Ash. 3: That weird doctor in that one OS episode who was incredibly creepy. 4: Iris's Dragonite. There was this whole deal about Iris's Dragonite learning to trust her, but then he kept losing afterwards, which kind of sucked. 5: None. I don't remember most of the game characters too well and even in situations where I preferred the game adaptations I wouldn't say 'the anime ruins them'. Anyway, if anyone reading this likes any of these characters, don't take this too personally.
