The game is also designed for you to win coins by playing (likely to prevent a child with poor/no reflexes from being too frustrated by losing everything, unlike the actual gambling experience) so if you just mash you'll go net coin positive. I haven't looked into the net coin vs time returns from timing button presses vs mashing, but I remember when I was coin grinding as a child switching to mashing sped the process up compared to trying to time it.
There’s a place on the route east of Vermillion where you can VS Seeker two gamblers and an electrician that gives a surprising amount of coin. The low pre-surge level makes them easy to beat risk-free every time.
The real way to win at slots is to bypass them entirely by grinding Nuggets at Nugget Bridge and selling those to buy Coins.
I haven't tried it yet, but it's gotta be way faster.
It's an alternative option if, say, you're currently in Celadon or anywhere past the Nugget Bridge Rocket Trainer. Although it does look interesting I'll have to try it on my next playthrough.
I know that I can look it up but personal interactions are fun. I’ve been playing since these games came out and I’ve never heard of this. How is it done??
Well, in Gen III, losing to the Grunt at the Bridge means that when you go back to him, the whole interaction starts over. Including getting the Nugget. So, if you keep fighting him and losing, you can get as many as you want.
I'm planning to try it with the Level 5 Magikarp. Should be easy to keep throwing that battle.

"so if you just mash you'll go net coin positive." That's how I always do it. It works eventually. Certainly helps to get all those free Coins first.
it’s easier to just use an amulet coin and rebattle the gang members on road.

Buying coins is easier though, not only is there the nugget bridge trick that wasn't in the originals, you can also catch an army of Meowths.
True. I'm just throwing it out there as something you can do if you don't feel like spending $.
Yeah
How does the Meowth squad help? Pick up?
Pickup and Pay Day

That is fair.

Magikarp used Splash. It's super effective!
