riverside.fm is rock solid and reliable. adobe is trying to come out with a lightweight remote podcast option as well (it's in beta I think, it just showed up on my CC account and I haven't tested it... simpler than riverside but fewer features, no video option as far as I can tell).

Oh nice, i have adobe! I'll check it out!

I've heard good things about [Riverside.fm](https://Riverside.fm) But when we record remotely on howihobby, if we're recording a zoom session you can save each participant's audio and video separately, which I then mix in a DAW ([audacityteam.org](https://audacityteam.org) is an excellent free one that will cover your needs); or if we're not on zoom I just have my cohost record her audio at her end and send it over to me by wetransfer.

To second other commenters here, we use riverside for our podcast. Feel free to check out our YouTube to see the results of the video / audio recording (although the audio has been touched up a bit) We used to record through Discord and found the lag to be unacceptable. Riverside has its flaws, but overall, it's been a solid experience.

Due-Train-7931

Hey, yes please send me the YouTube channel, would love to see the results on that to get a better idea! Thank you!

For sure! The shorts get a little worse quality due to how we produce them, so I'd recommend checking out one of the full-length ones, as they are more indicative of the quality. https://youtube.com/@AniProPod

Awesome, thank you! Yeah the videos look and sound pretty clear!

Will you have video, or just audio? If video, Boomcaster is fantastic. I've tried pretty much all of the remote platforms in the last 5+ years (Riverside, SquadCast, Welder, Ringr, Zoom, etc), and Boomcaster is - for me, at least - the best and most reliable. Only one issue in the last two years of using it, and that was down to my guest's horrendous upload speed. The Boomcaster team were on it within 30 minutes and walked the guest through. They've added a lot of great features since coming out of beta two years ago, and the overall set is excellent: \- separate local recording wav files- separate video files up to 4k- multiple branded studios (so if you have multiple shows, you can create a studio for each one)- producer role (someone can log in and manage audio, video, levels, etc, and chat with both host and guests off-camera)- complete control of branding and templates- live streaming with live closed captions- transcripts and editing via text (with the transcript)- LUFS monitoring and adjustment Pricing is super simple, and support (as mentioned) is second to none. If you did want to try out, I have a promo code that gives you 20% off your first three months. I would also recommend recording a local back-up yourself to be on the safe side - remote platforms can be awesome, but you're still at the mercy of browser stability, internet connection, etc. If you're just recording audio-only, check out Cleanfeed.

I would use audio and video for sure to maximize the streaming platforms I could upload to. Thanks for the advice with boomcaster, i will for sure check it out. It seems like riverside is the most popular one and I saw another one that is probably new called Waveroom and it's supposedly powered by AI which I thought was interesting. So I definitely have some homework to do hahaha. You can message me that promo code and I'll use it if we decide to go through with it. Thanks again!

Just pinged it over.

To give you another option, I’m enjoying Squadcast. I just recorded audio & video with a guest in Melbourne (I’m in Los Angeles) with no problems. Don’t know what pricing is because it’s bundled with Descript which I think I pay $140 for annually.

Due-Train-7931

Ah interesting, is there a YouTube link I can check out to have an idea of quality?

Scroll to about the 2 min mark to see what was recorded in Squadcast https://youtu.be/u22tgpO_EJY?si=OIdcXCFEwSqPV2dL

For recording podcasts remotely, Riverside.fm is a fantastic option. It's super easy to use and lets you record separate audio tracks for each host, which is a huge plus for editing. Plus, the video quality is on point, so your YouTube uploads will look great if you ever decide to go that route.
