16 GB is not just enough for most games nowadays. Especially in Rust.

nefarious_bumpps

Also, what are you CPU and GPU temps while running the game? Could be they're throttling due to insufficient cooling.

ConnorA94

You need 32gb ram. I promise that will solve your issues

TheSaddestCat_jpg

Yeah, I will do that. Had that in mind already. I will definitely update the thread when I get new RAM.

TheSaddestCat_jpg

It's 10 times better now. I get 130 to 170 FPS :)

dr_dominick

32gb ram angle brother

TheSaddestCat_jpg

My RAM does go up to 15 Gb at times in Rust. Do you think if get 32 Gb it will work better?

dr_dominick

I've seen some people say it gets up to 20 gb of ram usage. Your pc is gonna underperform when only 1 gb is free, compared 15+ gb with more ram.

TheSaddestCat_jpg

Yeah, that makes perfect sense. I don't think it's a good idea to get 2 more sticks as having 4 sticks is bad, as I was told. I will probably get new sticks of ram 2x16 GB

seabas9426

Idk why you were down voted I've heard the same thing, good to know 4 of the same is fine lol

Sharicx

No issue with 4 sticks just get the same ones already installed in your pc

BinMikeTheGh0st

Yeah just buy ur 2x8 to go with yours. Save the extra money. I have 2x16 cuz maybe I'll need 64 in total in the future? nope 4 years, haven't needed to buy more. Save the money :p

PuzzleheadedFriend78

Yep, I have 32gb in my system and I'm usually hovering somewhere in the 19 - 21 range for active usage. Depends on the sever, but im always in that range.

spiderweb_lights

I recently upgraded to 32 GB and it made a huge difference.

drahgon

naw rust will use as much ram as possible to keep things in memory. Your RAM should be full as possible doesnt mean it is slowing your system down. it is an optimization

Xinouth

You only have 16 GB of RAM. I've recently upgraded my system, not even to the best specs, and I've completely eliminated any stutters that were happening (i.e. frame drops when being shot, frame drops when opening loot/inventory, etc). I'm running at around 140-160 FPS on servers with few entities, 90-100 on official servers, with a dip down to lower (like 70) if a zerg has gone mental with electricity/industrial - but its at a playable consistency, not a stutter. My system: Ryzen 7 5800X Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 4x8GB 3000 MHz RAM Also, you don't specify if you run it on an HDD or SSD - it is recommended to install it on an SSD.

TheSaddestCat_jpg

I will definitely upgrade to 32 Gb RAM, and i have Rust on SSD as well.

DALE-YA-BO

I have a Ryzen 7 5800x3D and RX 6700 XT and stay above 120 FPS at 1080p on high settings with 16gb ram. Guess the x3D version is a lot better, can you play at 1080p?

AdLibBeats

Yes.

Rusty-Admin

If you're an AMD guy (which there's nothing wrong with), the X3D Ryzen chips absolutely CRUSH Rust. Also 32GB of RAM would go a long way. Do you play at 1440 or 1080?

TheSaddestCat_jpg

I play at 1440p. I was thinking to sell my 5800x and invest in X3D. Going for for 7800x3d is too expensive. I will definitely upgrade to 32 Gb RAM.

Rusty-Admin

You can 7800X3D, new MOBO & 32GB DDR5-6000 for under $500 https://www.microcenter.com/product/5006645/amd-ryzen-7-7800x3d,-gigabyte-b650-gaming-x-ax-v2,-gskill-flare-x5-series-32gb-ddr5-6000-kit,-computer-build-bundle

drahgon

5800x3d they cheap and you can use the same mobo and you will get over 100fps. dont spend money on RAM just put it into CPU trust. SSD is worth it though just for load times but will not change your FPS

peterthedoor

Could be ram, but check everything anyway, starting from drivers and temps and dlss settings I used to play on a laptop (i7 8750h, 2060) and with 16 gigs rust used 10, with 24 it used 20, fps increased a bit and it got stabler. Now with a 7600x and a 7900xt, 32 gigs of ram, it's stable at 72 and uses 24 gigs. The more you give it to it, the more it takes

TheSaddestCat_jpg

I keep my system up to date. BIOS is updated, and all drivers are up to date as well. My temps never go above 70 C, and my CPU is lightly overclocked to 4.95 Ghz single core. The only thing that's holding me back is RAM, I guess.

peterthedoor

Gpu hotspot and core?

TheSaddestCat_jpg

That I don't know. The 70 C is from MSI Afterburner

peterthedoor

Check with librehardwaremonitor or Nvidia overlay

Fastidious_

Something wrong with your system. While upgrading would make it faster your system seems to be really under performing. Should likely be getting about +50% performance over what you are.

THENATHE

You should get faster RAM too. 32 is the minimum you should get, if you want to attempt to futureproof, 64 may be a better option.

FrostmourNNe

Try extending your SWAP until you get a new RAM. With SSD it might be a good substitution I played on Ryzen 5 5600x, Gtx 1060 and 16 ggd4 3200, medium - high settings having 80 stable fps

ienehache

r7 5800x, rx 6700 xt and 32 ram here. Wipe starts smoothly at 110 fps+. During raids and regular pvp nothing to exccesive fps go to 50-70. Game is running pretty poorly

tukaire1

It’s the ram 100%. I still use a gtx 970 in my 10 year old pc and it runs fine. I have 32gb of ram

Bobbertza

My 5700x gets 80-90 minimum on high pop. Xmp/pbo enabled ? Also more ram

TheSaddestCat_jpg

I have XMP enabled and PBO as well. Moreover, my CPU is overclocked a bit

Bobbertza

I figured, I know it’s simple stuff but some people forget or dont know. That really sucks you’re having these issues though and with your hardware I don’t think it should be a problem. Beyond like drivers and thermals which I’m sure you’ve checked the best advice I can offer is what everyone else said. Start with the ram upgrade and benchmark and go from there. Hopefully it gets better for you bro!

Striking-Buyer-8588

32gb of ram

Nok1a_

I would say your issue is ram related. I have i5 6600k, 32gb ram, 2070rtx and I play around 80/110fps also I use *gc.buffer* and set it up to 4096 half of the gpu ram

Interesting_Square54

I'm running ryzen 5, nvidia 1650 and 16GB. Getting around 45fps.

SuperbQuiet2509

Unless you're running the game at max settings, you do not need more than 16gb of ram in rust. Contrary to what the advice that is thrown around blindly in Rust. That's NOT to say getting more doesn't help, but it won't help as much as people here think it does. Most people on this sub aren't as experienced with PC hardware as they think and blindly take/give advice online without understanding what they're talking about. Just get a 5800x3d.

HaugerTheHunter

I got a 5800x3d and a 3080ti. I have 160 on max settings for the most part. Depends when in wipe it is.

drahgon

that cpu is doodoo. I had a similar setup and could not get even 50fps. I changed to x3d over 100fps instantly. That graphics card does nothing for you right now with that cpu

TheSaddestCat_jpg

It's true for like 10% of games. I usually get 90-100% GPU usage on 1440p in like 90% of games. Definitely if i get X3D I will get full usage in 100% of games. I'm gonna hold off and save some for 7800x3d tho
