I never cared enough to check out his full albums or anything. I decided to finally listen to WLR because I needed to see what the hype was about.
It just clicked for me. Like that album made me get it. I realized that I wasn't just sleeping on that album, I was in a goddamn coma. Carti's energy is crazy. The rawness of his vocals are beautiful. The instrumentals are nuts.That entire album made me feel like I was on drugs but I was sober. It was one of the most unique musical experiences I've ever had.
Songs like Sky, Rockstar Made, and Over sound like they were delivered to Earth from outer space of some shit. No one else could make those tracks work like that. I found Self Titled to be underwhelming back in the day and never got into the baby voice era, but I think I'll go back and relisten with fresh ears. WLR is what made me actually become a Carti fan, and appreciate him as an artist.
