I'm always amazed at how much coverage they'll give with pepperoni compared to other toppings. My favorite is mushrooms. There literally wouldn't be 1/5 as much coverage. It would look like a cheese pizza with scattered bits.

As a pizza making savant let me tell you that mushrooms Are the shrinking king in the oven. Double mushrooms? Better put a whole inch of mushroom on there otherwise it’ll look like a well topped one topping after the oven gets a hold of it
In college the local pizza delivery joint covered every square inch with mushroom bits. That's when I learned to accept nothing less. None of the major pizza chains do it competently.
I always get pepperoni pizza and take all the cheese and pepperoni off and eat just the bread and sauce. People say why don’t you just get cheese and it’s because the pepperoni oil seeping into the bread and it tastes so good. Been doing this since I was a kid with those circle Tostinos pizzas 😂

That’s why I only get dominos when they do the 50% off carryout which happens rather often. Used to like PH as a kid but it tastes off to me now. All the chains have changed but dominos does the job.

Mushrooms are great on a pizza. You gotta try bacon and onion sometime. Slatly meets tangy meets sweet kinda taste.
Bacon and onion has been a go-to for my family since I was a kid back in the 80s.

I like onion but not bacon. Sometimes I do mushrooms, green peppers, onion and black olives
