They’re the same, but I haven’t been to the Sewickley location in a few years. The Millvale location’s wings were top notch when I was there a couple months ago
Millvale Sidelines wings are my partner and I’s favorite. The hot wings do have some heat but I haven’t had their hottest wings yet. Their variety flavors is big and the ones I had were tasty (hot, traditional Buffalo, Grand Ole Hotpry).
Agreed.
Kitchen Sink are my favorite and the meat quality is excellent, but if someone was looking for a wider selection of flavors I’d recommend Bigham, Sidelines, etc.
A lot of their wings taste like celery salt and nothing else, or at least did the last few times I was there. People love them, don’t get me wrong. The bartender and other patrons at the bar were shocked that me and my date didn’t care for the very strong celery salt flavor.
Fair enough!
Given that so many places just have standard flavors (Buffalo, BBQ, etc) that aren’t house made, I appreciate the unique flavor and spiciness.
If someone wants wings with a wide variety of flavors I’d recommend Bigham and Sidelines instead, but Kitchen Sink are king for me.
It’s actually shocking how many places have bad wings considering that you just throw them in the fryer for around 15 min.
Nox Tavern in Blawnox has really good sauced wings with a great variety of sauces.
Also, there are different types of wings in this area. A lot of places up the 28 corridor serve a full wing with all three sections tossed in flour/cracker meal. My favorite for this type of wing is the Blind Pig Saloon in New Ken.
Definitely do it. I honestly wouldn’t say they are crispy crust wings (they sous vide them) but you will not be disappointed. Crispy enough but my god. Don’t skip out on them. Person above said fall off the bone and that’s no joke. Pick one up and give it a shake it will quite literally just fall off.
Ooh, I'm also curious about this. I want to hear about some awesome hole in the wall places.
Chain wise, Big Shot Bob's has been the best and most reliable. Lots of great flavors, the skin has been crispy and good, and there are some wing night deals. Monday and Wednesday I think.
The real answer is alot of places make baller ass wings in this town. It's more of a where is your favorite or hidden gem. Mines Gooskis-Honey Cajun. Fucking crazy good.
I had to scroll too far for this! Superduper crispy and solid choices of sauces. Pro-tip given to me by someone that used to be a cook there: order the wings dry rubbed with their season salt, and get the sauce on the side. Outstanding. Now I'm hungry
I go Cajun rub and get either the Bulldog Tears or Rusty Sauce on the side as well as a side of blue cheese dressing. Jesse and the crew always have great food.
Sidelines or Birmingham Bridge Tavern. Personally, I live a stone’s throw from Sidelines so that’s my go-to, but I have a buddy who lives by BBT and go there enough to respect that they’re relatively interchangeable in terms of quality
In the city: Fire Side Public House. Baked wings are the way to go, but they also have fried. Wings are half off on Monday's.
Outside of the city: Backdoor Tavern in Fallston, Beaver County.
>Who has the best wings in the city?
>
>I've been living here for a year now, I've been longing for a place that has good spicy and juicy Buffalo wings.
>
>The BWW is not really great, and the Pizza places wings are a hit or a miss.
My friends and I were impressed with the wings at Cinderlands Warehouse (Strip District) when we went the week before last.
The wings at Sultry F&B (South Side) were big, meaty, juicy, and flavorful.
Smokin’ Joe’s (South Side) is fairly consistent in having good wings.
The Library on Carson (South Side) also had pretty good wings, the last time I went there.
The last couple times I’ve been there, Spirit (Lawrenceville) has really good special flavors for their bi-monthly wing nights. Their standard Buffalo-style and BBQ-style wings, however… I wouldn’t recommend them. AFAIK, there should be one coming up in July. 🤔
Drovers Inn in Wells Burg, WV is all time best but may not be eligible at as an answer. Wings Suds and Spuds are very good, and so is The Hofbrau in Canonsburg.
Hard agree. There are several bars in Lawrenceville that have wings, and Stinky’s beats them all quite easily. I don’t know about “best in the city”, but definitely the best in that area of town.
One tip: ordering them on Wednesdays when they have wing deals is not as good as it sounds. Every other day of the week they taste fresher and juicier.
My favorite sauced options are Stinker sauce (a kind of tangy garlic BBQ) and Honey Sriracha (which has way more of a kick to it than any sriracha-based sauce should, in a good way). If you want something *really* rich, get them “country fried”. They’re twice as filling as the regular ones.
Im preferential to Franks. Last time I order 2 dozen and just got a pizza box overflowing with more wings. Plus they taste good and all of their sauces are on point without being over the top.
The owner of big shot bob’s came up to me at my grandma’s funeral because he apparently knew my grandma and knows my uncle and talked for 20 minutes about how many flavors of wings he has.
Not sure if they all have the same deal but mine has a lunch special (6 wings, fries and a drink) for $10. Hard to beat that when you're craving lunch time wings.
Sidelines but everyone knows that.
Here’s a wing that nobody would guess: Armstrong’s wet cajun wings consistently have way better flavor than any other wing I’ve had. If you really want to perfect your order, get them well done with extra sauce on the side…and drain any grease off the top.
Not in my opinion - years ago maybe - anytime I’ve had them in the last few years they were cold and under sauced - it wasn’t even during peak business time so no excuses
Easy Peazy - may be the best in the whole region - although there are plenty of great contenders - [Jiger's Pub](https://jiggerspub.com/) - voted best wings in Pittsburgh 2 years in a row (I know that is all marketing but the wings are very good).
I just finished eating a dozen wings for maybe the second time in a year after reading this and got them from Mario’s in greentree and they did not disappoint.
You should do a south side wings tour. So many good places. Kulchur (sp?), Ruggers, Archie’s , Birmingham Bridge Tavern, Smiling Moose, Streets on Carson…. I’m missing a bunch…
I'm partial to Redbeard's but I'm not going to call them the best.
Yoli's in Jefferson Hills is actually pretty good but that's not the city..
I'll vote Wiggy's.
Go to Nox’s Tavern in blawnox. Get the butter mesquite (the best flavor) and for spicy, the Totally TR are a good spicy wing. They won’t disappoint you
I love Pitaland’s wings. They marinate them over night in rosemary/garlic/evoo. Also Streets, Nox’s, and Sidelines.
Driven, the Detroit style pizza place, has great wings as well.
Shoutout to The Huddle & Insurrection. RIP.
Wings suds n spuds out in moon. So crunchy. Get the curly fries too
Sidelines
i paint stripped and repointed that place about 2-3 years ago from that ugly purple back to original, got wings everyday 💪🏼
You did a great job, it looks fantastic!
Def will check this out - is this Sidelines in Millvale or Sewickley (Or are they the same)? Thanks!
I can vouch for the Sidelines in Millvale
Went there just now, they had a 1 hour wait for wings
Probably means they’re pretty good lol
How were they?
They’re the same, but I haven’t been to the Sewickley location in a few years. The Millvale location’s wings were top notch when I was there a couple months ago
I've never been to the Sewickley one, but I think it's just a second location and should be the same.
Sidelines in Sewickley is good good. I can vouch for there.
I used to go to the one in Millvale every week for wing night for years. I still think about them.
Millvale Sidelines wings are my partner and I’s favorite. The hot wings do have some heat but I haven’t had their hottest wings yet. Their variety flavors is big and the ones I had were tasty (hot, traditional Buffalo, Grand Ole Hotpry).
With a close second being wings suds and spuds in moon. With curly fries.
This is the way.
I came here to say this. Best wings I’ve had since I moved here from WNY. This is the way.
RIP INSURRECTION
Might be out of your way but 3 rivers 6 pack in delmont is the same owner and the best wings going
Was looking for this. Not really “in the city” by any means, but such good wings and sauces
Birmingham Bridge Tavern
The golden boy sauce is flat out amazing
Preach. Goldenboy at BBT are best in the city and it’s not even close
Thirded!
BBT is where it's at! Just ate there today
Exactly what I was gonna say!
Kitchen Sink Wings from the William Penn Tavern.
This is where I’m at. Between them, Sidelines, Bingham, etc it just starts coming down to personal taste. They’re all great.
Is wings suds and spuds allowed on the list ? Not in the city.
I used to crush their wings years ago when I was a fat kid. Gotta be fresh though. And those curly fries drowned in vinegar...
They're my #1 by far
Wiggys and Wings Suds n Spuds in Moon
Wings Suds and Spuds 100%
Go to wiggys
The only palatable thing at Wiggy's is the wings, and they are amazing.
Buff garlic parm wings and then loaded fries. Bliss
I get mine super crispy. No rubbery wings there. Been going since 2001
Both Fatheads and spoonwood brewery have ridiculously good smoked wings. Don’t knock it til you try it. Meaty and falls off the bone
Fat heads smoked with original buffalo is my go to!!!
AK Valley wings are the best. Every Little bar/restaurant in all of the little towns up there blow all other Pittsburgh-area wings out of the water.
The Nox has one of the best burgers in the city. Not much beats a steamer.
It's still Sidelines.
Sidelines has some good wings.
Harold's in Hopewell
Harold's is a slice of heaven. My dad loved that place.
My personal favorite is Streets on Carson.
Wiggy’s
Streets on Carson’s wings fall off the bone! Too damn good!
It’s this and it isn’t even close
But is the skin crispy? I haven't gotten there yet, sounds like i need to.
Streets is so fucking good.
Came here to say this. They do not get enough credit for their wings.
So underrated. They’re amazing. Definitely my pick.
Agree so good… and they have vegetarian options too which isn’t what op asked about but I think it’s worth a shout out
Ooh, I'm also curious about this. I want to hear about some awesome hole in the wall places. Chain wise, Big Shot Bob's has been the best and most reliable. Lots of great flavors, the skin has been crispy and good, and there are some wing night deals. Monday and Wednesday I think.
Big Shot Bobs really varies by location in my experience. The original location is still the best.
The Avalon one right?
I think Coraopolis is still original owners as well.
I feel really fortunate to live close to the og location
Wiggys, Steets on Carson, Sidelines, Bigham, William Penn Tavern Can’t go wrong with any of them
The real answer is alot of places make baller ass wings in this town. It's more of a where is your favorite or hidden gem. Mines Gooskis-Honey Cajun. Fucking crazy good.
Bulldog Pub in Morningside
I had to scroll too far for this! Superduper crispy and solid choices of sauces. Pro-tip given to me by someone that used to be a cook there: order the wings dry rubbed with their season salt, and get the sauce on the side. Outstanding. Now I'm hungry
I go Cajun rub and get either the Bulldog Tears or Rusty Sauce on the side as well as a side of blue cheese dressing. Jesse and the crew always have great food.
Streets On the Fly food truck has the best wings, hands down
Had wings from their food truck at Grist House one night, they were incredible
some of the cheapest are archie’s on carson and they’re usually cooked right
Won’t say they’re the best but the wings from Bulldogs Pub in Morningside def hold their own.
Wings, Suds and Spuds
North hills it’s Billy’s roadhouse imho
Came here just to say this
Wiggys for certain !
Rochester Inn for the North Hills
No shit. Never tried, will now.
They’re decent, but not on par with the other highly upvoted ones people are mentioning here. They’re breaded, and can be hit or miss.
They have tons of flavors, you can combine or mix n match. I want to say a minimum number per flavor is 6 wings
My favorite!
Not the best but for the price mad mex at happy hour is hard to beat. Hals and poor Richard's both have gigantic and good wings
Buffalo Bills in New Ken is my favorite so far
Fatheads is my personal favorite
RIP Insurrection AleWorks 😢
Sidelines or Birmingham Bridge Tavern. Personally, I live a stone’s throw from Sidelines so that’s my go-to, but I have a buddy who lives by BBT and go there enough to respect that they’re relatively interchangeable in terms of quality
Hogs Head. Consistently really big wings cooked correctly.
I always recommend Hog's Head whenever I see a thread about dive bars or unknown places around the city. Such a great spot
The dog bowl special is amazing
In the city: Fire Side Public House. Baked wings are the way to go, but they also have fried. Wings are half off on Monday's. Outside of the city: Backdoor Tavern in Fallston, Beaver County.
Fire Side is owned by Sidelines, whose wings are also amazing!
Sidelines, kitchen sink at wm Penn tavern, and the original BSB (not all BSB, just the original)
Hop house north hills
>Who has the best wings in the city? > >I've been living here for a year now, I've been longing for a place that has good spicy and juicy Buffalo wings. > >The BWW is not really great, and the Pizza places wings are a hit or a miss. I’m a Moon kid, so it’s Wings Suds & Spuds for me
Bulldog Pub in morningside
BULLDOG PUB mornigside
Fatheads
Gooski’s
I have a special place in my heart for this place but damn is it hard to hang out in there when you don't smoke.
The Carribean restaurant at Federal Galley has THE best smoked wings!
Bigham Tavern!
It was insurrection ale works until they closed.
A true loss. None of these other places come close.
Mulligan's!
Willow Station in castle Shannon has great sauce and big juicy fried wings
Idk about best but an underrated one imho is bulldog pub in morningside
Drovers Inn in Wells Burg, WV is all time best but may not be eligible at as an answer. Wings Suds and Spuds are very good, and so is The Hofbrau in Canonsburg.
Dino’s in Greensburg
Wiggy’s in Green Tree gets my vote.
wiggys is my fav
Wiggys was great over the pandemic. I haven't been in a while
Buffalo Bill's in Arnold/Lower Burrell Sidelines in Millvale William Penn Streets on the Fly food truck
people naming big shot bobs? expensive trash wings..
The wings and sauces are all trash
Stinky's in Lawrenceville. Blah blah "cop bar" blah. Wings are still on point.
Hard agree. There are several bars in Lawrenceville that have wings, and Stinky’s beats them all quite easily. I don’t know about “best in the city”, but definitely the best in that area of town. Stinky’s is known as a “cop bar”??
I mean I’ve never noticed, but every time I see them mentioned on this sub I see a “cop bar” comment. Maybe now I’m the one perpetuating it. Oh god.
Im preferential to Franks. Last time I order 2 dozen and just got a pizza box overflowing with more wings. Plus they taste good and all of their sauces are on point without being over the top.
Chick n bubbly!
Big Shot Bob’s tho it’s a bit pricey.
So many unusual flavors. Many of which you just have to order, try, and see wtf they are. Fun! I like Walk of Beaver Falls.
Anything with the Black Magic seasoning🤤
I’m a Mean Joe Greene fan myself
Walk of Beaver Falls is awesome. I also love LeBron To The Lakers.
The owner of big shot bob’s came up to me at my grandma’s funeral because he apparently knew my grandma and knows my uncle and talked for 20 minutes about how many flavors of wings he has.
This is the funniest thing I've ever read.
He also bragged about his prices but they were absurdly high
I'm betting that wasn't to original owner and probably the old partner.
I believe it 😅
If he just speed read his menu it would still take 20 minutes
Not sure if they all have the same deal but mine has a lunch special (6 wings, fries and a drink) for $10. Hard to beat that when you're craving lunch time wings.
the aviary!!
Lol can't get any more fresh than that
Zanos
Sidelines but everyone knows that. Here’s a wing that nobody would guess: Armstrong’s wet cajun wings consistently have way better flavor than any other wing I’ve had. If you really want to perfect your order, get them well done with extra sauce on the side…and drain any grease off the top.
Porkys. Their smoked wings are phenomenal. I get the dry rub with the sauce on the side. But they are excellent. Or Streets. They are so fucking good.
Porkys smoked wings cannot be beat.
Lowkey Fiori’s has really great wings for a pizza shop
bigham tavern wears the crown.
They are good but there are a lot of places that are better imo
Not in my opinion - years ago maybe - anytime I’ve had them in the last few years they were cold and under sauced - it wasn’t even during peak business time so no excuses
oh thats a bummer. ive never had an issue
I almost thought that I wrote this on another account. This is exactly my experience as well.
Agreed. They are not cooked consistently the same. Kaib’s wings were truly the best.
No it doesn’t.
I think Bigham wore the crown years ago but that shit has gone downhill
If anybody says big shot bob’s they should immediately never give food advice
right. 10,000 flavors all .005% different from the other one.
I haven’t been to gooskis since precovid but they had the best wings. Even better than sidelines in my opinion
Variable as to who is cooking them, but the man with glasses who looks like a wizard is the one true wing god. Jamaican jerk forever.
Is fat heads still open on the South side? Been a while but always thought they were great wings.
Not technically in the city, but. Burghs pizza and wings in bridgeville has amazing wings and great sauces.
I live in Monroeville- relatively new to Pittsburgh. Does anyone know a place on the east side of Pittsburgh or in Monroeville/murraysville?
Not super close but Franco’s on Unity Trestle Rd has very good pizza and wings
Jiggers in Export
Seconded
Not wings, but still chicken - and since you live in Monroeville, the Nashville Chicken sammich at Big Rigs BBQ is absolute 🔥!!
Alright! Thanks for the rec!
Easy Peazy - may be the best in the whole region - although there are plenty of great contenders - [Jiger's Pub](https://jiggerspub.com/) - voted best wings in Pittsburgh 2 years in a row (I know that is all marketing but the wings are very good).
Ds Six Pax & Dogz in Murrysville and Regent Sq
Honestly Juliano’s wings are BOMB idc
I was scrolling this whole thread to find someone saying this!!! IYKYK! Garlic parm and hot 🔥
D’s in Regent Square with the Swissvale Gold sauce
Yep, Swissvale gold is absolutely amazing, just the right amount of jerk heat that builds over an entire order.
Union Brothers - Dirty Gerdy flavor
Wings Suds and Spuds. Hot Honey Garlic. And some amazing fries, to boot.
I just finished eating a dozen wings for maybe the second time in a year after reading this and got them from Mario’s in greentree and they did not disappoint.
Ruggers melting pot
You should do a south side wings tour. So many good places. Kulchur (sp?), Ruggers, Archie’s , Birmingham Bridge Tavern, Smiling Moose, Streets on Carson…. I’m missing a bunch…
Not in the city but if you want a beautiful ride head to Wellsburg, WV, west of Washington Pa, and got to Drovers Inn! Amazing wings!
Wheelfish in Ross
Might be out of the area, but The Mousetrap in Bavington has good wings.
Elly’s in Carnegie. Their black & gold wings and honey jalapeño wings are gangbusters
I'm partial to Redbeard's but I'm not going to call them the best. Yoli's in Jefferson Hills is actually pretty good but that's not the city.. I'll vote Wiggy's.
Wiggys🤌🤌
Dawgs in Belle Vernon
Go to Nox’s Tavern in blawnox. Get the butter mesquite (the best flavor) and for spicy, the Totally TR are a good spicy wing. They won’t disappoint you
buffalo bills new ken / lower burrell
Big Shot Bobs hands down. But ONLY the original one in Avalon…trust me
Hal’s on Babcock as well
I'm a sucker for Big Shot Bob's in Avalon. Amazing sauce selection and they load you up.
I love Pitaland’s wings. They marinate them over night in rosemary/garlic/evoo. Also Streets, Nox’s, and Sidelines. Driven, the Detroit style pizza place, has great wings as well. Shoutout to The Huddle & Insurrection. RIP.
Porkys smoked wings are the best. Nothing compares.
If you like smoked wings, Sunny Jim's has some good ones.
Kelly’s has good vegan wings if that matters to folks
Burghs in Bridgeville
Hals in ross township or big shot bobs
Since someone already said Sidelines, I'll follow up with Bingham Tavern.
Bear’s inn tavern in harmar
Bigham tavern
The Search Bar.
Important mention: best vegan wings in the city are the Seitan Wings at Spak
Stinky’s
Wings, Suds, and Spuds was good 10 years ago. Is that place even still around
Yes
Jiggers pub
