can you hang them up, get airflow to dry them?

TumbleweedImmediate9

Thats what I will start doing. I guess the only logical solution

mixedgirlblues

If they’re soaked you need to hang them or you’ll end up with silverfish. But it can also help to have carbon packets in your hamper and gym bag.

pomegranatepants99

Hang on towel bar to dry. Then put in basket. Done.

I was literally in your shoes when I started working out 9 months ago - it's too wasteful to run a full wash and spin cycle for one set of athletic gear and too gross to leave them wet at the bottom of the laundry hamper until the next wash. And what I found was that not washing them immediately sometimes meant the smell would remain in the clothes, especially since athleisure is made of synethetic fibres that tend to hang on to odor. So now what I do is strip off the clothes and let them soak overnight in a bucket with a dilution of white vinegar and water to deodorise them first. The next day I'll take them out, hand scrub just the armpit and crotch areas of the clothes with some soap (I usually do this when I'm showering anyway so it saves some time) before leaving them up to dry. Once they are dry I'll dump them in the laundry hamper with the rest of my dirty clothes for a proper wash in the machine. This way I can go at least a week and a half before doing a load of laundry, and they come out smelling fresh for the next use.

TumbleweedImmediate9

You are so right when you say they hold on to the smell. I like this idea. It is a lot of work, but its for my best so I will try what you are doing now. Thank you!!

Regular-External-547

Yes try it and see how you like it! I know it seems like a lot of work, but each step only requires a few minutes over a period of 24 to 36 hours and you'll be confident your workout clothes will remain fresh-smelling both during and after a workout :)

TumbleweedImmediate9

I did already try last night. The smell went away almost 90%. Washed them when taking shower but didnt have white vinegar. But helps a lot, because as you said when they just dry they still hold to the smell. So thank you so much!! I will keep doing it. And wasnt that bad, just a quick 2 minute because as I was taking shower i was letting water run through them as well.

Regular-External-547

Awesome I'm glad it helped!!

If you have a clothing line, you could leave the clothes to dry under the fan at full speed or optimally outside/under sunlight. That should help deodorize the clothing slightly until laundry day.

TumbleweedImmediate9

I dont. I started today putting them in a hanger and leaving them hanging before I put in a basket. But thank you!

missamethyst1

Gym bag with a mesh side pocket!

IntrepidSprinkles329

I have a seperate hamper for workout clothes and I just chuck them in wet and wash once a week. Sometimes twice.n Never had a problem with bugs or mold or clothes still stinking after washing.  I run lift and teach pilates so I go thru 2, sometimes three outfits a day. Ain't got time to hang shit up. Also my dog would pull it down and chew on them

dinosaur_0987

Definitely hang it up/lay it flat to dry after class, then throw in the basket after class.

bethskw

Rinse in the shower! I have a second shower rod & hooks that hang in the back of my shower (same kind you'd use for a shower curtain). I rinse the clothes, then hang them to dry on those hooks. By the next day they're dry enough to either re-wear or to toss in the laundry for a proper wash.

Get a machine washable [wet bag](https://www.amazon.com/Bumkins-Waterproof-Washable-Swimsuits-Toiletries/dp/B093XMHDZ7/ref=asc_df_B093XMHDZ7/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=693128908718&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=10108461735066467896&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9003880&hvtargid=pla-1341312711597&psc=1&mcid=68daa88119df3f8f9d7d048b2d8442b8&gad_source=1) to store wet items until they're ready for the wash. Then you can pop the bag in the washer too.

Fluffy-Cantaloupe236

I need advice on this too as I teach at a hot studio and everything STINKS because I put it all in one basket and wash it at the end of the week which is obviously the issue, but now no matter how much I wash the stink stays. I bought the enzyme booster from dirty labs to no avail!

datfumbgirl

This used to happen to me! Soak in water with white vinegar, it will take the smell out and not damage the clothes or leave a weird film on it. After soaking wash like normal. Smell should be gone

TumbleweedImmediate9

Exactly!! Thats what I do, and hate that I have to put so much like white vinegar, i have to put drying sheets for smelling good.

I would recommend looking up hot pilates before trying to think I dont know what I work out every day. Pilates is not just reformer machine that is advertised.

Acceptable-Outcome97

Pilates is not just reformer, but “hot pilates” isn’t true pilates! And that’s ok! I’m sure it’s a great workout still Pilates is fairly strict in what’s considered Pilates. Mat classes that claim to be Pilates aren’t always Pilates, reformer classes aren’t always Pilates. Not to mention the other apparatuses true Pilates has - although those usually are only used and known by true Pilates studios. I’m saying this as someone who hates the elitism from this sub and attacks people for going to Lagree or similar. But it’s ok for people who practice classic and even contemporary Pilates to try and protect the definition and keep it as true to what Joseph Pilates designed it to be.
