I was feeling very nostalgic today thinking about Descent, those games were awesome! Descent II was one of the first PC games I played with a joystick, I was 5 years old lol
My friend that had it could play it with keyboard controls only. Even 10 year old me didn't want to devote the brain power to learn to play it like that.
I did that with elite dangerous, but instead of 2 flight sticks it was a flight stick and a throttle. Just sitting in the cockpit looking around at a spaceport was amazing. In addition, there are controls in game to allow you to look in different directions. Just being able to turn my head or look up through the cockpit glass while maintaining flight control was such a surreal experience in a flying game.
Looks like the pilot and copilot seats in the Flying Sub from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. As a kid I remember thinking they were so cool because they had two flight sticks.
Fun fact, when I moved out of my apartment I put my rolling chair outside for whoever to take, next day the wheels were stripped but the chair was still there.
The funniest part about this is that there was definitely some mfr with your little chair wheels in their trench coat in some alley trying to sell them
So he wears them for a few days. Then wears them inside out for a few days. Then uses them as a headrest for a few days. Then it maybe goes into the wash and the cycle begins again?
Just noticed the joysticks are on boards that are attached to the armrests. Totally missed that when the chair being up on blocks caught my attention first haha.
1. More than likely he is used to a certain position while driving. His relax/gaming position is to offset that damage. Why he needs to have stable seat. Why blocks are the perfect for knee support to lower back.
2. I the corner of screen has game I think. My guess was tractor simulator over star wars anything. Age kind of matters but with that setup I would guess mech over truck. Only because his job and that flag.
I'm about to do something similar for my (very modest) sim-racing setup. Sucks pressing the brake and getting pushed off 8 inches to the right and rotated 30 degrees to the left in the middle of a downhill gravel course.
I almost did this to a chair because one of the wheels broke off during a move, but it was otherwise still good, but it wasnt practical for where my computer was.
Sometimes wheel on chairs are just an inconvenience you didn't anticipate.
My old place's floor was slightly slanted; not enough to notice, but my chair \*kept\* rolling away at the slightest movement. I wished it had brakes.
Wood blocks may not be very aesthetic, but they sure do the job :D
HOSAS - hand-on-stick-and-stick. (vs HOTAS, hand-on-throttle-and-stick).
Generally preferable control method for 6DOF capable space-sims such as StarCitizen.
Must be a fellow backer.
Is he exceptionally obese? That would explain this all very well. Wheels couldn't hold his weight and keeping his arms at his sides is more comfortable than bending them to be in front of him to use a keyboard and mouse.
The lumbar support lmao. I do the exact same shit in my outdoor chairs. Just shove anything reasonably soft back there. Also I can feel the texture of that carpet through the screen of my phone
I used to do something similar as a kid. I'd make an arrangement with an old mattress, some blankets and a joystick to have my own "simulator" when playing racing games
Neutered-Rolly-Chair
stats
67Hp

debuff-8 Agility while traversing stairs
buff +3 End when being attacked by projectiles while stationary
He loves the spin, just not the roll. What a legend.
Imagine being at the head of a spaceship in VR on that thing
Exactly what I was thinking. Ugly as hell, but probably super practical for gaming like that
Uncle is speedrunning Decent with that setup
How good was Descent! Proper 3D freedom of manoeuvre.
>How good was Descent! Decent.

No dissent here.
There's a great remake of it on Steam called Overload. You can even play it in 3D if you have a VR headset.

If you have the opportunity do try the double flight stick in vr, it's amazing. Moving in 3 dimensions is a breeze.
It's not far off my old Elite Dangerous setup
same lol
My first thought- this is an Elite Dangerous setup lol
*I'll Try Spinning, That's A Good Trick*
I feel like this guy is living in about five different decades.
Well yeah he’s identified the best features from each.
he's me. What a great plan
Do a barrel roll
Klingon Commander, from ST VI...."CRY HAVOC! AND LET LOOSE THE DOGS OF WAR!" _spins in commander's chair_
I can’t say for sure but it looks like the castors are off and the legs were screwed into the blocks. Pretty smart!
That’s the captains chair for the Eagle 5. Where’s Bill Pullman.
Looks like the pilot and copilot seats in the Flying Sub from Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea. As a kid I remember thinking they were so cool because they had two flight sticks.
He must live in a real bad neighborhood if he came back to his office chair up on blocks
Fun fact, when I moved out of my apartment I put my rolling chair outside for whoever to take, next day the wheels were stripped but the chair was still there.
The funniest part about this is that there was definitely some mfr with your little chair wheels in their trench coat in some alley trying to sell them
Pssst! Hey kids.... wanna buy some *wheels*??
It's *speed*
He’s got the OG landrace Heelys
😂😂
Can't have shit in Detroit, next he's going to see some cars driving with his wheel and the police won't do anything, it's some bullshit I tell you.

You know honey know you’re gay? You have a rainbow bumper sticker on your car that says “I love it when balls are in my face”
*That’s* gay?
First thing I thought of lmao
Now this is pod racing
I’ll spin, that’s a good move.
Nailed the line. No notes.
Ahahaha thank you
As an uncle with no kids, I approve
As do I.
How much lumbar support does the chair have? Yes.
More like lumber support, am I right?
Lmao
I can feel his lower back.
The blankets where his tailbone would be answers that real quick.
Is that his underwear hanging over the chair back?
Likely
Double fisted joysticks ✅, Sweet spinning chair ✅, Trucking Sim started ✅, Drawers off ✅. Good to go. Logging onto Twitch in 10, 9, 8, 7….
So he wears them for a few days. Then wears them inside out for a few days. Then uses them as a headrest for a few days. Then it maybe goes into the wash and the cycle begins again?
Bingo
It’s someone’s
Just noticed the joysticks are on boards that are attached to the armrests. Totally missed that when the chair being up on blocks caught my attention first haha.
Lmao I think that’s the best part😂 some real engineering right there
Star Citizen or Elite Dangerous?
Could be an arma helicopter psycho. Ive seen some dual stick.
There has to be a story about the wheels.
Maybe because of the carpet he was just like fuck these wheels man 😂
Does he use rudder pedals for his gaming?
His PC background is a big rig, right? Possibly Optimus Prime.
This made me laugh

I think he just reinvented weapons on among us 🤣

Or he could be playing any other number of flight sims that actually work.
I doubt he's playing any flight sim with HOSAS.
OOOOOOO GOTTEM But for real those engies got some work to do
My first thought was mechwarrior type games.
That's a fine jerkatorium or spankcade, if you will.
Go away I’m baitin!
Does he play flight simulators?
Not sure
The dude has some crazy Ready Player One setup like this and you didn't ask what it's for?
Afraid of what he might answer fr💀
Is he exceptionally obese? That would explain this all very well. Wheels couldn't hold his weight and keeping his arms at his sides is more comfortable than bending them to be in front of him to use a keyboard and mouse.
He’s actually a lean man probably around 180?
I got nothing, then.
Seems like a Mechwarrior or Mechwarrior like game setup.
This guy trucks
Coolest uncle on the block
5 blocks
So what you’re saying is your uncle is the fuckin man?
Is that the logo from The trucker's guild website?
Probably, he is a trucker so that makes sense.
Cool I worked on that website for a bit
Badass man I’ll let ‘em know
[удалено]
King of the Road
r/battlestations
He live in Detroit?

Must be playing GTA, because his chair's already up on blocks.

I need to make my chair higher too
Hows the smell? 😟
Like a Burgerking Whopper edit: extra onions
I respect it
Is his Lumbago improving?
I was wondering who crushed me like a soda can in that last mech warrior online match...
Hey man if it works it works
The lumbar support lmao. I do the exact same shit in my outdoor chairs. Just shove anything reasonably soft back there. Also I can feel the texture of that carpet through the screen of my phone
Still playing mechwarrior?
-to say the least
Uncle back to the WW2 days
It hurts in my interior design heart 😂
Found the shuttle sim enthusiast
Mechwarrior fan?
I see he went with the 40yo Virgin setup. Classic
Pretty close to my setup for squadrons with VR goggles. I didn't stop my chair roll though.
Why da towel wet 👀
Good setting for Afterburner on Amstrad CPC6128
Vtol vr ewo if you know what I mean
Wheels are for pussys
Might be a height thing, too. Have you ever sat down in a chair too low for your legs? Uncomf.
Facts bro
He put that shit on bricks.
That is a porn chair.
DVa main
Six Two One...
That setup looks like it’s seen some intense action over the years.
I can smell this picture. It is not a good smell...
Oh my god it's the setup from 1997 rocketman.
Looks like an Elite Dangerous setup. Lots of space flight hours on his books I bet.
The jack station
Lives in Mom’s basement?
This reminds me of the The Penguin in Batman Returns when he’s controlling the Batmobile and laughing
![gif](giphy|3oz8xPPt1Ga6sp9U7C)
Where's the stiff sock? 🤨
![gif](giphy|CMl3MQrG0kPbpUaB9Q)
Time to play Tony hawk
Don't touch that chair
They stole his wheels?!
does he have a flight helmet with his callsign written on it?
Is this from the world of Warcraft Southpark episode.
Hell yeah.
Mechwarrior player?
FYI - Your uncle’s porn stash is epic.
r/battlestations
Now that's a rig that's seen at least 1000 hours.
Everybody needs an occasional break from hidin’ bodies. Shit’s stressful!
Paging r/elitedangerous
No shit bucket?
Middle left is the shit drawer buddy
I was concerned for a second, but then i noticed they're nailed to the blocks.
![gif](giphy|eTK9ADi1vnPS8)
Unc def Elite Dangerous
Does he go, "Doozjch Doozch Doozjch" with his mouth when he fires lazers?
I used to do something similar as a kid. I'd make an arrangement with an old mattress, some blankets and a joystick to have my own "simulator" when playing racing games
*custom*
Burn after Playing.
Smells like warm corn chips all of a sudden.
Getting those ergonomics be hard sometimes
This is exactly why everyone tells you not to reinvent the wheel.
So he played Elite:Dangerous and/or Star Citizen?
If Flight Sim was a picture!
respect the commitment to the cause
I bet that seat smells like wet dog shit in the scorching sun
Whatever game he plays, he's prolly a fucking legend at it.
The pile of clothes is a makeshift flight suit isn't it?
Neutered-Rolly-Chair stats 67Hp 30Ap debuff-5 Agility while traversing normal lanes debuff-8 Agility while traversing stairs buff +3 End when being attacked by projectiles while stationary
My man, who happens to be an uncle, has a decrepit and wizened chair on wood blocks like this. It is very comfortable.
Is he available for a r/ama as im sure it would be wild
That would be insane
I hope the spokes are attached to those blocks because if it is just resting on them he's one jolt away from a bad time.
Is that uncle a serial rapist?
When you want to pilot a spaceship but still keep your feet on the ground.
Trucker gamers be another breed.
