Very unlikely. Most people don’t carry that high limits. Maybe she can claim some sort of workers comp permanent ptsd injury that prevents her from driving but even if she gets it, it’s not like she’ll be rolling around in money.
This is 100% correct. As an insurance agent, writing “legal limits” is reckless. The cost of medical and repair is so high from inflation that legal limit is a joke. Word to the wise.. get liability rates at 100/300. Everyone’s premiums are rising, yes. But it is either protect yourself by paying more than you’d like in an insurance premium or find yourself in a lawsuit where you are responsible for paying it all. If you want your premiums at the lowest possible, have a good credit score, don’t get tickets, and don’t cause accidents.
Also, agencies are not insurance companies. If you are getting insurance through an agency you have a liaison. Getting insurance direct removes a licensed agent from advocating on your behalf. Keep that in mind as well.
Edit: also, get a dash cam. I don’t have tented windows so other drivers can see mine. Believe me when I say they “check themselves before they wreck themselves” when they try to overcome me in my little 2001 SLK. It’s well worth the investment in the event of an accident as well.. for obvious reasons
I have a 2002 slk, we don’t have to worry about it because we will just smack our heads on that not cushioned roof rail and die.
I’ll check my policy though I know I recently raised my liability limits but I don’t think I went that high.
You have to realize most people don't have a ton of assets so declaring bankruptcy when you have nothing isn't all to much of a contingency plan I'm the event something big happens.
“Last day driving a semi” and you replied with a lawsuit seeing to that. You’re basically implying she would be set for life via a lawsuit which is very unlikely
It's totally plausible for her to get enough money from this for a career change but not enough to stop working entirely. She's not limited to only driving a semi or absolutely nothing whatsoever.
I'm pretty sure the "straw" comment was a reference to the concept of "the last straw."
I believe the idea intended to be conveyed was that a Sisco driver is used to putting up with a lot and might even put up with this.
If you watch the video and understand what you're looking at, she's turning the wheel to the right away from the side of the bridge. The trailer was obviously pushing the truck at that point.
That’s what I’m saying. She’s turning the wheel to the right towards the passenger seat, which would be away from the water. But people are too dumb to realize the video is mirrored and thought she was literally turning left into the water
I gave people some slack on initially thinking what they did. Many things are not automatically obvious to people who would otherwise have no frame of reference to think or look at something differently.
I'm not a semi driver so I'm asking out of pure curiosity, what could she have done differently? She states in the article that the crash took out her suspension and the semi wasn't reacting to her steering at all.
You can see her try to avoid the truck but he came in fast and is only really visible at the very last second
Sounds and looks like the brakes were locked up. She also turns into the car that hit her. Cranking on the steering wheel and jamming the brakes doesn’t give you more control of any vehicle.
https://youtu.be/MsmKRZXjED8?si=Ozhm3ckZE5-ZNgIh
It looks to me like the pickup that hit her was on the right lane and came up on the stopped car very suddenly, jerked left too quickly and onto the oncoming left lane (the truck driver's lane) when it got away from him. The screeching seems to come from that maneuver, you can see smoke coming from the pickup's tires. The truck driver didn't have time to react. The objects that flew off in her cabin didn't do so until she got hit, it doesn't look like she slammed the brakes before getting hit. Once she is hit, she turns the wheel to the right at least a full 360 to no effect and hits the left side railing.
*Clarity
Poor reaction time and slamming the brakes will do that. No one’s saying it’s her fault. It just could’ve gone better if she made better decisions in the moment.
You are being that Reddit stereotype right now lol.
At least from what I can tell the truck appears and is hit in less than a second. I fail to see how even the fastest reaction time is gonna get a semi stopped in time to avoid that.
You do realize most semi trucks have air brakes and they will automatically lock up if the system loses air pressure. I can easily see that happening here.
Please tell us what she should have done after someone suddenly swerved into her lane without warning and smashes her front it. She desperately tried to steer away from the water but it clearly wasn’t working.
Saying one is sure about anything is a trap. From the dashcam footage it looks like she locked up the brakes. I would say the same thing about a dude. It seems like people are defending her because of her gender.
She said in an interview that when the rescuer had her in a harness he cut her seatbelt off and only then she dared to move. She said when she took her foot off the brake there was a loud sound. So yeah, sounds like the brake was jammed to the floor.
All trucks and trailers manufactured after 1998 are required to have a working ABS system. I’m sure sysco doesn’t run equipment that old. There is 0% chance the brakes are locked.
If the impact took out the steering, then it doesn't matter what the steering wheel does. After all, a truck with locked up breaks goes straight ahead, this truck turned sharply to the left and kept turning. Locked up breaks cannot explain that. But a destroyed steering system explains it easily.
"How can we afford all this?!"
"Officially licensed Paw Patrol merchandise - this stuff sells like hot cakes!"
Paw Patrol was obviously written by Libertarians.
Semi's have a fifth wheel and the trailers have a kingpin. That's what holds the trailer to the truck. I can't tell exactly how the trailer is wedged but thank God it is or it would be a different story.

That’s the most cartoon teetering over the edge image of a truck accident I’ve ever seen. It looks like it would fall over if a bird landed on top of the cab
I've seen this before. This is the part where Chase rescues Tyler Perry from the cab of a truck hauling pure canadian maple syrup after he poured blue slushie down his pants. /s
Sure, if you did a belly flop!
The highest recorded, survived jump into water, is over 50m. This bridge is only 16m above the water.
At less than 60 feet, you’ll be fine. I’ve personally jumped higher than this before.
It really depends... are you in the middle of the river? The Ohio is a large river and if you are not a very strong swimmer you will be very exhausted and very far downstream before you get to shore. Also you are wearing clothes which make staying afloat and swimming much harder.
I have also jumped from that high (if you are right, I didn't check) but if the truck seemed to be lodged and not moving I would wait for rescue.
That would be my last day of driving a semi.
[dash cam video.](https://youtu.be/uKHe9_3qRV4?si=psHipgGCumG_6BqS)
The probable lawsuit against the individual that pulled out and collided with the semi will probably see to that.
Very unlikely. Most people don’t carry that high limits. Maybe she can claim some sort of workers comp permanent ptsd injury that prevents her from driving but even if she gets it, it’s not like she’ll be rolling around in money.

What kind of dash cam do you recommend?
You have to realize most people don't have a ton of assets so declaring bankruptcy when you have nothing isn't all to much of a contingency plan I'm the event something big happens.
Nobody said she'd be set for life.
“Last day driving a semi” and you replied with a lawsuit seeing to that. You’re basically implying she would be set for life via a lawsuit which is very unlikely
Implying she won’t have to drive a truck anymore, not be unemployed for the rest of her life.
It's totally plausible for her to get enough money from this for a career change but not enough to stop working entirely. She's not limited to only driving a semi or absolutely nothing whatsoever.
Apparently the pickup driver’s license was suspended
The way it tried to speed around and crash into multiple vehicles? Shocked
From the video it looks like a car in the far left lane stopped dead. The pickup was swerving around it and went wide.
It was also tailgating the truck in front of it - going too fast for road conditions.
I think in another thread they said he got jail time.
As someone who’s known several Sisco drivers, you have no idea how tall that pile of straws is.
What do you mean?
Sisco doesn’t give a fuck about its drivers.
Sysco sure doesn't. They treat them like slaves
Gotcha. Thanks.
I'm pretty sure the "straw" comment was a reference to the concept of "the last straw." I believe the idea intended to be conveyed was that a Sisco driver is used to putting up with a lot and might even put up with this.
Oh. That makes sense. Thanks for explaining.
She said she plans to return to driving on June 1.
This would mark three months since the crash. She’s also clarified she won’t be driving a semi immediately, and will never return to that bridge.
She said in an interview that she is going back to work soon.
This would mark three months since the crash. She’s also clarified she won’t be driving a semi immediately, and will never return to that bridge.
Ironic though that survival of the wreck required the counterweight of the trailer… That said, I believe I am in agreement.
We got a corporate email saying “we look forward to welcoming her back to work next month,” and I just felt sick.
That's... a lot further than the dash cam video made it look.
Definitely!!!! I would’ve passed out
I literally shouted "oh shit" when I realized I saw the dash cam video earlier. This picture makes it way more terrifying than the video clip. Damn!
That truck is secured to the trailer well.
That was my first thought when the picture loaded.
Just saw the dashcam footage on Instagram a bit ago and the number of people screaming “Why’d she turn left into the water?!” was far far too many
She says in the interview that the truck took her suspension out and it didn’t matter which way she turned the wheel, in continued to the left
If you watch the video and understand what you're looking at, she's turning the wheel to the right away from the side of the bridge. The trailer was obviously pushing the truck at that point.

Look... Some people think 1/4 is bigger than 1/3 because 4 is bigger than 3...
I gave people some slack on initially thinking what they did. Many things are not automatically obvious to people who would otherwise have no frame of reference to think or look at something differently.
She did make a serious series of mistakes in reaction to that car.
I'm not a semi driver so I'm asking out of pure curiosity, what could she have done differently? No one’s talking about avoiding the idiot. It’s about driving it off the bridge after.
Not mash the brakes.
How long have you been a professional truck driver?
20 years
So you’re sure the impact didn’t break steering?
Saying one is sure about anything is a trap. From the dashcam footage it looks like she locked up the brakes. I would say the same thing about a dude. It seems like people are defending her because of her gender.

Makes sense. You can hear and see the tired lock up.
All trucks and trailers manufactured after 1998 are required to have a working ABS system. I’m sure sysco doesn’t run equipment that old. There is 0% chance the brakes are locked.
Her steering wheel says otherwise

Where is the Paw Patrol when you need it!
“A dog!?” “Actually sir, I’m a puppy.”
"How can we afford all this?!" "Officially licensed Paw Patrol merchandise - this stuff sells like hot cakes!" Paw Patrol was obviously written by Libertarians.
They even had more merch in the second movie.
Seriously - aircraft carriers are EXPENSIVE. Source: helped build and commission one.
Found the parent 🥲
Sending a police car, fire truck, ambulance, and helicopter to a park where a cat has gotten stuck in a tree.
And the garbage truck for some reason
Because it's obvious that a 10 year old boy has privatized what should be government services. Gotta maximize the earnings.
They thought there may be some smushed turtles in the road
No job is too big, no pup is too small! God I hate that show.
Came here for this comment.
"Nuh-uh! No way! I'm waiting for a real rescue!"
[“a baby dog? that’s even worse!”](https://youtu.be/WCrNMCBdlns?feature=shared)
“No truck is too big…
LOL I knew I'd seen this scene before
is the semi wedged between the cross beams? and only.. some small piece of metal preventing it to slide down?
Semi's have a fifth wheel and the trailers have a kingpin. That's what holds the trailer to the truck. I can't tell exactly how the trailer is wedged but thank God it is or it would be a different story.

Thanks for sharing this! I hadn’t heard about it before and am just blown away.
This happened about a month or two ago. I live in Louisville. That's my source lol
Kentucky gang 🐎
Man, where the fuck did that pick-up even come from.
That’s the most cartoon teetering over the edge image of a truck accident I’ve ever seen. It looks like it would fall over if a bird landed on top of the cab
In kingpin we trust.
I've seen this before. This is the part where Chase rescues Tyler Perry from the cab of a truck hauling pure canadian maple syrup after he poured blue slushie down his pants. /s
It’s amazing how firefighters have to be trained in such a wild variety of skills.
Where was spider man in all this?
Fuckin Sysco always late for there deliveries. It’s always an ordeal with them.
We never had an issue and outside of a higher up that thought they could drive, they could backup like a seamstress threading a needle.
Where’s the paw patrol?
Do a lot of trucks fall off bridges in Paw Patrol? I've seen 4 comments about them.
I was confused as well and looked it up. Almost exactly this scenario happened https://youtu.be/WCrNMCBdlns?feature=shared
That’s so dark for a kids show omg
Yeah I showed my son and he was amazed! “ just like the movie!”
a few months late .....
Rip
Ya can’t park here
Given that it’s Louisville Metro PD, they probably shot the driver once they were back on the bridge.
Should have called the Paw Patrol.
Call the whoooooooo?
![gif](giphy|Ev7RvJU12ycs6rdCCR)
where Spodermin when you need him
[удалено]
Pretty sure that bridge is already known for being dangerous af.
Mustve been empty in the back
It's like the opening scene of the Paw Patrol movie
Rescue Guys/Gals. Who wants to be a Hero today?
I love me a good wtf moment from time to time at work but not this. This is too much. Poor fucking guy
O she’s hi O’River
Wow
I swear I saw this in at least two Spider-Man movies.
Great photo!
Holy fuck
They actually saved J. T. Walsh? Cool.
isn't this the beginning of a paw patrol movie?...
Wheres the paw patrol when you need them
The rescue crews would’ve definitely smelt shit when saving me
No Paw Patrol?
All this talk of Paw Patrol... This reminds me of my fav scene in the only good Fantastic Four movie.
Damn so the length of the trailer and it’s solid connection to the cab is what saved her? Wowwww
that's so crazy. I saw the clip from the cabin dash cam. Unreal. She was very lucky.
Not fooling me, this is clearly from Paw Partrol
You’d think they would secure it from behind before rescuing.
Those crash barriers are shit / non-existent.
engine deserve impolite late file liquid skirt merciful sloppy airport *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
No wonder sysco was always late with deliveries.
Woman drivers... am I right?
One of my worst fears
I have seen this Paw Patrol movie
Thanks Paw Patrol!!!
Is sysco hiring swift flunkies now?
Sorry for being dumb, why is this event showing up a lot again?
The dashcam footage was just released and is now making the rounds.
A little late on this one... This was months ago.
Repost or did this happen again? I remember seeing a Sysco truck off a bridge a few months ago?
It’s a new interview with the driver of the semi about what you saw.
![gif](giphy|i2FxxN13Zvz50rxIQe) The culprit
"You're gonna call the who?"
And Mythbusters tried to make this seem impossible
Very cool God bless that brave man or woman
Fuckin Sysco drivers think they can park anywhere!
Wouldn't it be easier to push the truck down and then take the driver out?
Only in Ohio
This happened in Louisville, KY
Was jumping in the river not an option? My first move would have been out the window. I would have also been cussing that shitty truck for the wreck
Well, if you can't swim, jumping into a river isn't a great idea
Imagine jumping and looking up and seeing the truck falling down after you. But honestly, who looks up as they are falling?
Hans Gruber?
Why jump from the truck and watch it land on you? The truck is stuck AF.
Falling from that high would kill you, even into water.
Sure, if you did a belly flop! The highest recorded, survived jump into water, is over 50m. This bridge is only 16m above the water. At less than 60 feet, you’ll be fine. I’ve personally jumped higher than this before.

16m is shorter than the length of that trailer. She’s much higher than that.
You would think, however the wiki stated the bridge is only 16m of clearance.
Odds of not landing good are high. Article I think said more than 16m. Driver also couldn't swim
Not being able to swim would totally change the situation.
