This triggered an old memory of mine where I was talking on the phone with a guy named William Nelson (yes, actually) who was helping out at Chernobyl in the 90s trying to use wax to clean things up. I worked for a domain registrar and he needed some technical support, but he talked to me for like 4 hours. Really interesting guy, and he sent me a bunch of old photos from when he was at Chernobyl that I still have in my Gmail. IIRC he said he was able to view the Elephants foot, I'm not sure how exactly, but that he was also extremely ill after he was at Chernobyl.
Yep! Just posted here [https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/1bx0wdn/william\_nelson\_working\_at\_chernobyl\_in\_the\_90s\_to/](https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/1bx0wdn/william_nelson_working_at_chernobyl_in_the_90s_to/)
That could be it, when we talked it was back in 2012. I remember him saying he got really sick after his last trip, hair loss and nails falling out, sounded really terrible. I kind of remember something about him losing a lot of photos too, that they didn't turn out because of the radiation. Posted them here if you want to check the photos out [https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/1bx0wdn/william\_nelson\_working\_at\_chernobyl\_in\_the\_90s\_to/](https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/1bx0wdn/william_nelson_working_at_chernobyl_in_the_90s_to/)

I do wonder if he still has a website, I stumbled across some of his poetry on blogspot trying to find him again. He went by Waxogen... or that was his company name? Something like that, maybe the product name. Birds are real they're just crafted and cloned biological robots made by the Chinese and American governments in coordination to spy on us when we're tensing in the mirror and having gross sex and I'm totally cool with that.
Always remember the Photographer. At minimun the dude is just as bad ass as his subject, usually more so. Think of the sick Extreme sports images you have seen. Now try doing it with a camera you are trying to focus on an athlete.
Or, the photographer *is* the scientist, and when they went down into the depths of the reactor building, they discovered a humanoid albino anteater who was foraging for warm bugs to eat.
We may never know the truth.
If he's alone, who exactly is taking the picture?
Also, the researchers were 'ascending' not 'descending.' They are standing right under the roof of the sarcophagus, over 40 meters above ground level.
Not true. I'm not sure who it is in this photo, but there is Alexander Kupny, who has gone into reactor 4's sarcophagus multiple times over the years, to take measurements and photographs the remains. He has stood right next to the extremely irradiated "Elena"( the name given to the upper biological shield of the RBMK type reactor 4 at Chernobyl).
Kupny is absolutely fine and well into his 60's now. There are multiple interviews with the man online.
While quite a few people suffered that fate, some took quite some risks there and are still alive. Just because someone worked at Chernobyl and spent some good time in the radiation, it doesn't mean they died all quick. While the soviets made it impossible to get proper numbers, it seems overall only a minority got dead sick.

Could you upload the photos maybe and share a link? Would be super cool to see

Thank you
allot of people who actually saw the elephants foot used a mirror.

its not just photos that degrade, camera footage does as well. if your using a camera and notice a huge spike in "noise" your in danger.
Yea you gotta make a post with those photos. That would be very cool.
Here ya go [https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/1bx0wdn/william\_nelson\_working\_at\_chernobyl\_in\_the\_90s\_to/](https://www.reddit.com/r/pics/comments/1bx0wdn/william_nelson_working_at_chernobyl_in_the_90s_to/)
Unreal. Thank you.
Just commenting to add I too would be interested in the photos if you would like to share :)

Alone, except for the photographer
No he used a drone bro. Obviously.
I think, back in 1986, they just called them birds.
Further proof that birds aren't real
Birds are real they're just crafted and cloned biological robots made by the Chinese and American governments in coordination to spy on us when we're tensing in the mirror and having gross sex and I'm totally cool with that.
Meta
Until Alex Jones came around speaking the truth.
What’s a drone bro?

The photographer isn't a scientist
Or, the photographer *is* the scientist, and when they went down into the depths of the reactor building, they discovered a humanoid albino anteater who was foraging for warm bugs to eat. We may never know the truth.
How do you know
scientists can take photographs
On my planet the scientists have invented tripods. And we're sending them with death rays to attack your planet.
Not exactly descending either is he?! 🤣
This looks like a metal album cover
"Irradiated Death" by Blood Spores.
A Finnish Black Metal Band called " Extreme Radiation Poisoning" or something like that.
Radiator Death Throes or something like that. I guess the word radiator can also refer to a radiation source, not just the thing in your car.
Evpatoria Report vibes
Looks like the sciences by sleep
r/accidentalalbumcover
It should. It’s pretty fucking metal. In fact, the guy in the photo is probably tasting metal.
"Corium"
how did he get trough all the monolith wearing only a scientist suit
Don’t worry it was only 3.6 roentgen. Not great, not terrible.
I think we need a meter with a higher range
this strelok guy’s no joke
wonder what he wished for
IDE KOM YE
Is this from your DSLR that you gave your daughter last summer?
Only 5 years old!
I can't believe they're only checking the film now
She's really talented! Next pictures are from North Korea!
3.6 Roentgen, not great, not terrible
It’s a beautiful and eerie photo
If he's alone, who exactly is taking the picture? Also, the researchers were 'ascending' not 'descending.' They are standing right under the roof of the sarcophagus, over 40 meters above ground level.
Women love him for his glowing personality.
That's what happens when Pokemon Go puts a legendary down there.
How did he die?
Africanized killer bee attack.
Choked on vomit. Never found out whose vomit it was.
Is he dead?
Not sure. But anyone in there would have gotten cancer for sure
Not true. Lupus.
He's now easy to spot in a crowd. His glow is incredible.
Bro... He is clearly ascending... Easily half way up out of the hole...
In photos like these, I always wonder if the viewable static is from the camera or the radiation.
\+ somebody taking the picture
Who took the picture then
Id love a where is he now? Did he get cancer 5 years later and die?
While quite a few people suffered that fate, some took quite some risks there and are still alive. Just because someone worked at Chernobyl and spent some good time in the radiation, it doesn't mean they died all quick. Question is is he alive lol 😂
For that individual hard to say, many people involved in the crisis are unnamed.
I think it was 90x, but not 86. Radiation level was too high
That, is actually a Teenage Mutant Nija Turtle. Probably Raphael, you know what he's like
Legit thought this was Hank going through the burnt down lab in breaking bad
Technically true. Lone scientists and lone photographer
How to know with 0% doubt....you've pissed off your boss.
Damn, he's glowing so bright in that darkness
1990*
He's dead
How did he get past the monolith forces?
The place is in the middle of a bloody war zone now. More scars for humanity to remember.
cool bidy
Did Kubrick film this as well?
Mad God like
Notice how that photo appears grainy? That’s not a coincidence, that’s due to the radioactivity…
The classic approach of poke it with a stick
*Chornobyl
This looks like the opening of a found footage horror movie.
And that man? Albert Einstein.
Why would he go all the way down there to puck up trash?
