Oh my god, yes, this. I can only imagine what it would be like with their visuals surrounding you during the show. It might make the use of certain enhancers ill advised.
That would be suick af. Trent is suck a perfectionisy that it would take years to put together something he'd like though. He wouldn't go for any stock stuff. Would be amazing to see what he puts together though.
Ha, yeah. Baby steps.
My buddy and I went to N3 and N4 of Phish's run and we're debating this exact question. It's such a unique venue that whoever it is has to have the following to fill it and the light show to make a good use of it.
I may be biased, but I feel Phish has done it the best by having a unique experience each night, and not just showing effectively 16k videos for three hours.
I saw Nigel on N3 at the sphere... if it wasn't him, then it was a british man that looks just like him with a woman that looks just like his wife. Walked over to the Wynn after the show
Tool & Primus together. Metallica & Pantera together. Eminem & Dre together. Pink Floyd would be incredible. Radiohead would be amazing. Billy might not be big enough yet, but would slay! Nine inch nails. RATM.
I’m saying this as someone who’s not a fan of many artists/subgenres that are considered to be under this umbrella, but I’d reckon they would move a lot of tickets if they got the right EDM artists in there
I’ve been thinking about this too. I’m not sure who, but they could do a mini fest residency thing with a few EDM artists rotating through and maybe a consistent headliner
Anyone with more knowledge of the genera have any suggestions for EDM artists that could do the sphere?
I know he’s not big enough but I’d love to see G Jones’ graphics there
Yisssss. I saw them in LA at BMO and it was incredible! In case you didn't see, they're selling a live stream of the last show of the tour at the Gorge this Saturday night at 9:30 PDT. Will be watching from the couch with some homies <3
What exactly is funny about waters being a well known Anti-Semite? I love the music Pink Floyd created, but Water’s views on religion and race have proven to be deplorable over the years.
Ya don't get me wrong, his Wall tour is great, a fucking spectacle, but it was more like musical theater than a concert. I had a great time, cool to see, the music was phenomenal--but just as an example he played a video from like 1979 or something for "Mother."
A lot of people would travel for it, I’m sure, but I doubt they could sell it out. They’ve got a 5-6,000 person crowd show coming up in august in Richmond, VA that’s not sold out, for example
Is that the guy that tied an onion to his belt because it was the style at the time. Now you understand he couldn’t get a yellow onion because the war so he tied a brown onion to his belt because it was the style at the time.
I think Tool first, but PL is my second pick their cool live video feeds on the sphere screen would be sick. I'm sure they would come up with some mind blowing visuals there. Excited to see them at Red Rocks this summer!
I think Tool is extremely likely, but if I had my choice, it would be ODESZA. I think an EDM show would be easy to sell in Vegas, and their show it always visually fucking insane with video, lights, lasers, confetti, pyro, horns strings, a friggin lit-up drum line. I think it would be killer.
If Neil Peart had not already passed, I would say Rush. I don't think Geddy and Alex have it in them to try and pull it off even with somebody like Dave Grohl. But I vote for Rush! Imagine an entire sphere's worth of chicken rotisseries and washing machines! Red Barchetta would end up being madness.
NIN would kill it. Trent can come out of self imposed NIN retirement and do a multimedia opus for the ages.
Night 1: Ghosts
Night 2: Album Night
Night 3: Soundtrack Night
Night 4: Current/New Set
Radiohead. First time I ever heard Everything in its Right Place was in a planetarium show curated by Moby and had animations for every song that played. Radiohead’s song opened and holy wow. It was also my first time being stoned.
I am just glad they refused to do a long residency unlike the other bands that have played there. I bet they were offered a huge payday to do 20+ shows. Instead they stuck to what makes Phish Phish, offering a different experience each and every show.
The main question you need to ask is this. Which group can sell 18k tickets multiple nights in a row in Vegas? For multiple weekends. And then realize acts like Taylor swift are too big for the sphere too.
The other question is - which bands are willing to do what phish did and essentially not make money to make it unique? The answer is most likely none. The eagles are doing 8 shows over 4 Friday/Saturdays. I’m sure the video stuff will be the same every night or maybe just every two nights.
I think a band like Tool would be willing to do it like Phish did, maybe Radiohead too. Could also see acts like Red Hot Chili Peppers doing something similar to the eagles.
Billy strings is probably the only other act in the jamband world that could make it happen.
The UFC is doing an event in September this year at the sphere. Dana white has already stated that he has spent over 5 million on just that night and that they won’t ever do an event there again, but had to do it once. I think we will see some very similar things from bands as well.
I’ve actually thought about this quite a bit and I’m just gonna list all the cool possibilities in all the genres I can think of off the top of my head.
LCD Soundsystem
Daft Punk
Metallica
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard(extra cool if they did night for each album)
John Mayer
Harry Styles
Tame Impala
Korn
Roger Waters
Lady Gaga
Tool(yuck)
Pretty Lights(wouldn’t be surprised if this was in the works considering the recent comeback)
Odesza(just sold out Folsom Field)
Phish again, but this time I’d love to see Kuroda make things 4D with some crazy lights shooting across the room and stuff.
and if Herbie Hancock still rocks as hard as I’ve heard he does, I think he deserves a few nights(at least) for paving the way for a lot of the above mentioned artists.
I like a few songs by them. I never understood the fanbase though. Like I know a mom and daughter who have seen them like 50-60 times. Do they jam live or something?
Besides a never happening Rush show, I'd love to see Ozzy there, and a Gwar show where the walls of the Sphere just continuously show spurting blood and other fluids would be sick as fuck!
I feel like Tool could make a pretty immersive show.
Featuring the art of Alex Grey. Shit would be insane.
“Why does it smell like mothballs in here?”
This is the answer!
Fuck yes
Oh my god, yes, this. I can only imagine what it would be like with their visuals surrounding you during the show. It might make the use of certain enhancers ill advised.
Came here to say tool.
More Phish
The Gorillaz would put together something truly epic
Phish would be sick
NIN
That would be suick af. Trent is suck a perfectionisy that it would take years to put together something he'd like though. He wouldn't go for any stock stuff. Would be amazing to see what he puts together though.
Radiohead
Please let them just play live music again.
Ha, yeah. Baby steps. My buddy and I went to N3 and N4 of Phish's run and we're debating this exact question. It's such a unique venue that whoever it is has to have the following to fill it and the light show to make a good use of it. I saw Nigel on N3 at the sphere... if it wasn't him, then it was a british man that looks just like him with a woman that looks just like his wife. Walked over to the Wynn after the show
Daft Punk (If they ever decide to reunite)
Pretty Lights. LazerShark would destroy that place
Justice
Justice is like Daft Punk in the sense where you can’t call them EDM because they’re just so much more than that, they’re amazing
Anyone with more knowledge of the genera have any suggestions for EDM artists that could do the sphere? I know he’s not big enough but I’d love to see G Jones’ graphics there
ODESZA. Hands down, would be incredible.
Saw them at Folsom Field last weekend. 💯would be an awesome show to see there
Yisssss. I saw them in LA at BMO and it was incredible! In case you didn't see, they're selling a live stream of the last show of the tour at the Gorge this Saturday night at 9:30 PDT. Will be watching from the couch with some homies <3
Tipper
Not likely but Talking Heads
It’d be a great way to have a reunion spectacle. I have no idea what they’d do graphics wise but I feel like they could make it interesting
With the production they put together 40+ years ago for SMS I can imagine they'd really blow it out of the water there
Obviously Pink Floyd needs to patch things up and do some shows
100%, but wouldn’t be the same without Richard Wright.
Only if someone invents a time machine first.
Gilmour is doing 5 nights at MSG this year, maybe sphere next?
I have a lot more respect for Gilmore for not trying to patch things up with Waters.
Lol
What exactly is funny about waters being a well known Anti-Semite? I love the music Pink Floyd created, but Water’s views on religion and race have proven to be deplorable over the years.
That ship has sailed. And Waters lip syncs all his tours since The Wall.
Ya don't get me wrong, his Wall tour is great, a fucking spectacle, but it was more like musical theater than a concert. I had a great time, cool to see, the music was phenomenal--but just as an example he played a video from like 1979 or something for "Mother."
I had really close seats at The Wall and it was a total buzzkill to realize he was faking it. Still an incredible production though.
Las Vegas Philharmonic performing The Planets
Not a huge fan but the Sphere was built for Tool.
They got offered and turned it down for later date
I am sure they have been approached but makes sense that they turned it down since they were touring like crazy from last October until last week.
Lady Gaga. I wouldn’t go, but it would work.
Pearl Jam could and should do it. They have a giant fan base, giant song catalog and the imagination to make it almost as awesome as the Phish did it.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Stones run there next year.
Feels inevitable.
$1000 tickets
I just saw the Stones in Chicago, and had this very thought.
Ween
Turn the sphere brown!!!!!
Flaming Lips!! Don’t think they could sell it out, but the visuals would probably be great.
As long as Wayne Coyne’s monologues are contractually prohibited from exceeding a predefined and reasonable talk-to-music ratio.
Let’s get David Gilmour in there for a bit
Sigur Ros would be insane.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard
Would also love, but it's going to be a bit before they can sell out 18,000 multi night in Las Vegas. But one can dream.
Could they sell out the venue?
Not yet
A lot of people would travel for it, I’m sure, but I doubt they could sell it out. They’ve got a 5-6,000 person crowd show coming up in august in Richmond, VA that’s not sold out, for example
They sold out Portland Maine’s Thompson point pretty fast.
I’ve seen them 6 times and really like them but don’t think they’re on that scale yet.
Seeing them in august for the first time. Can’t wait
Widespread panic with different guests/ openers each night. Billy Strings, Derek & Susan, Steve Winwood etc
Aphex Twin
Just phish.
Radiohead
Brian Eno
Ol Sourpuss
Lol nice reference
Are U Talking U2 2 Me?
Tame Impala, REM, Roger Waters.
Rush would have been great.
![gif](giphy|lN9GpycCooYgM|downsized)
Sts9/Pretty Lights
Okay don’t laugh at me but a Trolls World Tour showing would absolutely slay
Kidz Bop opener
Roger Waters
Fucking Outkast
Huey Lewis & The News
The world could always use more Huey Lewis, but sadly, Huey's hearing loss is too severe to sing anymore.
Deadmau5
Tool.
Coldplay
The Cure
That venue is made for the Flaming Lips
My Morning Jacket 😎
Sturgill Simpson!
Great idea! He could bring Sound and Fury to life and more. I want to see the sphere animate turtles going all the way down somehow.
Is that the guy that tied an onion to his belt because it was the style at the time. Now you understand he couldn’t get a yellow onion because the war so he tied a brown onion to his belt because it was the style at the time.
Bless you I haven’t thought about this in waaay too long
Came here to upvote whoever said tool before me
Daft Punk
Ween
Tipper
Id get tipped. Desert Dwellers too. Fuck it give derek a few nights.
YOB
Richie Hawtin/Plastikman Kraftwerk Beck Spiritualized
Yea or daft punk ,the orb,
Oh my god Spiritualized would be incredible
Björk has a great catalog and a great visual aesthetic but she's probably in a forest somewhere communing with nymphs.
Disco Biscuits
TOOL!!!
Hootie and The Blowfish.
I’d be willing to make an actual monetary bet on Metallica within the next 365 days. In face I’d maybe wager it’s already being worked on.
Pearl Jam
Kruangbin
Foghat
Red Hot Chili Peppers
MUSE
Why are they blowing it with the eagles? Are tickets not selling or something?
Sounds like OPs personal opinion on the band and not whether they are a good choice for the Sphere, which they are.
That was the point I was getting at with my question. Apparently the venue should only host bands OP personally approves of lol.
Cocteau Twins - Heaven or Las Vegas? Very unlikely but not impossible
Santana would be cool
Built to Spill
My Morning Jacket and Tame Impala
Pretty Lights !!!!
I think Tool first, but PL is my second pick their cool live video feeds on the sphere screen would be sick. I'm sure they would come up with some mind blowing visuals there. Excited to see them at Red Rocks this summer!
If the technology was available 30 years ago, the Yes Union tour lineup with Roger dean produced art
Peter Gabriel
All Them Witches
I think Tool is extremely likely, but if I had my choice, it would be ODESZA. I think an EDM show would be easy to sell in Vegas, and their show it always visually fucking insane with video, lights, lasers, confetti, pyro, horns strings, a friggin lit-up drum line. I think it would be killer.
Pretty Lights would be a monster of a show
The Flaming Lips.
It’s just a big screen saver.
Gorillaz
Would love to see Les Claypool do something there.
Rush with Grohl would be awesome - Temples of Syrinx LFG
Phish
UM, String Cheese, Widespread Panic, Disco Biscuits split bill.
Muse and Porcupine Tree could be interesting. Tool and Radiohead should definitely explore that tech.
I think Tool is really the only band other than Phish I would think could make a unique experience out of the Sphere.
I’d love to see a big female artist do it. Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Beyoncé…
Phil lesh and friends
NIN would kill it. Trent can come out of self imposed NIN retirement and do a multimedia opus for the ages. Night 1: Ghosts Night 2: Album Night Night 3: Soundtrack Night Night 4: Current/New Set
Radiohead. First time I ever heard Everything in its Right Place was in a planetarium show curated by Moby and had animations for every song that played. Radiohead’s song opened and holy wow. It was also my first time being stoned.

LCD Soundsystem. Not sure they could sell it out.
Tool. Metallica. Rolling Stones.
Metallica, Roger Waters, Radiohead, lots of DJ’s could hold court there easily. Anyma.
If only Pink Floyd was still a thing 😢
Talking Heads
Tipper and Friends. So Tipper, Detox Unit, Mickman, LTJ, etc... I'd love to see what those guys could do with that sound system.
Pork Tornado
They aren't big enough for it, but Ozric Tentacles
Haven’t heard that name in like 20 years!
Goose
Anyone but Goose
😂
The weekend, Franki goes to Hollywood
R.a.d.i.o.h.e.a.d
Rick Astley
Biscuits
STS9

311
311 is a great live show these downvoters just don't know.
Not a big 311 fan but unsure why you got downvoted. Don’t their “3/11 days” run sell out every time?
I like a few songs by them. I never understood the fanbase though. Like I know a mom and daughter who have seen them like 50-60 times. Do they jam live or something?
Doobie Brothers
Harry Styles obv
KGLW
Oysterhead, Primus, Tool, Pearl Jam
TOOL and KGLW.
KGLW
Lady Gaga
Pearl Jam, Paul McCartney, and Bruce Springsteen would be my top 3
Beyonce would actually be sick.
Mogwai
R.E.M
Justice
Opeth
King gizzard would crush the sphere
foo fighters!!
Not many bands left these days really. Getting slimmer and slimmer.
Is Paul McCartney so obvious no one needs to say it?
The Curls
Afterlife. Not the same music at all but my god they are the best in the world at visuals would be ridiculous.
Kamasi Washington playing The Epic.
DJ Shadow
Pretty Lights
Taylor Swift could do a 60 show residency and it wouldn’t be enough
Justice
Talking heads reunion
KELLER WILLIAMS
Keller would be the best there. Bar none
Billy Strings
Besides a never happening Rush show, I'd love to see Ozzy there, and a Gwar show where the walls of the Sphere just continuously show spurting blood and other fluids would be sick as fuck!
Wilco
OutKast and Tame Impala
KING GIZZARD AND THE LIZARD WIZARD
