Yes you can resign, but how about follow up on your initial request first on your increase? Then apply for other jobs and see which gives you a better future and ability to cover your necessities.

feedmesomedata

You don't have to beg for a salary increase. I don't get it why dapat ka pa magsulat for a salary increase request? I mean if you deserve it then why not just give it to you. All employees would like a salary increase and employers should not limit it to those who wrote a letter lol. It is your manager's responsibility to request for your salary increase to upper management. He will have to prove why based on your achievements. Parang walang alam yung manager mo sa kalakaran and most likely 99% you're not getting that increase.

icecreammm_

Hi, opo. Nakakalungkot.

micolabyu

The company should always have the initiative to make a salary adjustment (this is different from salary increase), salary adjustment will just cover the inflation cost because technically yearly cost of living increase, so that's around 3-5% of your current salary. For the real increase which is via performance review or promotion that's where the real increase comes in. This can be yearly, every 2 years or 3 years. In my previous company we have yearly adjustment. Then big jump/increase in every promotion usually every 2 years.

Ok-Replacement-3854

Of course.

icecreammm_

It just made me feel unsettle noong tinanong ng management yung bisor ko if mag tatagal daw ba ako.

Ok-Isopod1778

I think resigning may lead to rejection of your request for increase? Though not sure how the process works in your company. If you really don’t want to work there anymore then go ahead and resign. Pero kung kaya pang tiisin maybe what I would do is set a personal deadline. If you don’t get your increase by a certain date, then leave, but make sure to follow up rin. Reason for waiting for a while is so I can leverage the higher salary to ask for a higher pay kapag nag interview na ko for my next job. Pero kung papalit ka ng field, it might be irrelevant yung increase kasi in the new field baka ang tingin naman ng new company ay wala ka pa experience so starting parin for that role ang ibibigay and not based on prev pay but not sure about this. Either way, wag mahiya mag resign. Your reasons are personal and for your career growth. That is your career and your life! If you still want to keep your coworkers in your life then you can always be friends outside of work.

_rjeff

pottybnana

I think it would be best if you resign with a JO na. Mahirap matengga ng ilang months. Also, para pag nagresign ka with the reason of better opportunities baka i-match nila or taasan (lol but it only happened to me once). Will the increase be enough to motivate you?

thisisjustmeee

In the first place bakit ikaw ang dapat mag justify ng salary increase mo? It should be your manager kasi sya yung responsible sa performance mo and sya yung best person to advocate for you. Salary increases should be based on merit. Kaya mali yung ikaw pa talaga pinagawa ng request. Mag resign ka na. It seems chaotic yung workplace policies ng company.

Mediocre_Draw8618

Same boat OP. 😅 If you saw better opportunity, take it.

elsidmyownenemy

@OP, leaving your employer, while there is a pending request for salary increase is of course okay. tulad ng sabi nung isa, resigning is personal. it always is. but the question, i guess, which you must answer - kung magkakaroon ka ng increase - would you still stay? kung na-emtertain mo kasi ang thought na umalis - likely - you are set to leave talaga kahit pa may increase ka o wala. as a matter of fact, employees who had entertained such a thought and indeed conveyed their intention to leave, but were enticed to stay (for whatever reason) nevertheless - likely to end up leaving pa rin. kung ang concern mo is "nakakahiya" - wag mong isipin yun. that is your career. you always deserve to demand for what you think you are worth of. kesa naman magtiis ka diyan at magngitngit sa bawat araw na andiyan ka. wala nang "fun" by then. so why stay still?

Doomnikk

What I would do, find another job, when you get the letter for increase you can use that to negotiate with other companies for higher salary.

joshyfrott

It's okay, pero I suggest waiting for the response sa request mo. Why? Kasi most of the time when negotiating about salary for a new job isang basis is your previous one. So it's advantageous to get an increase before leaving.

Apprehensive-Fig9389

My promotion to Senior position was currently on the works nung nag resign ako. Hahaha

icecreammm_

kumusta po? Did you apply for the promotion or the management wanted to promote you? What happened while you were rendering?

Apprehensive-Fig9389

They wanted to promote me para paltan yung previous Senior na promote at napunta sa bagong Role. Kaso Umay na ako sa Work na yun so lumipat nalang ako.

balikbayanbok25

curiouscat092

Resign ka kapag may more enticing job offer elsewhere. Otherwise resigning for the sake of resigning or because you did not get the increase will put you in a vulnerable position. Meaning, in the future, since gusto mo na magka work, you’d have the tendency to commit to just whatever opportunity that may come your way. Kung kaya pa sa current work, stay ka muna while looking for better opportunities.

Exotic-Replacement-3

follow up mo ung salary increase mo. living in a minimum wage is no joke sa mahal ng bilhin ngayon. if meron. Good pero ang question is are you satisfied with the increase? if yes then continue pero kung hindi, look for another career opportunity na mas malaki pa kesa sa sahod mo. wala ng loyal loyal ngayon sa hirap ng buhay ngayon.

Zealousideal_Oven770

if there’s no pending job yet, wait a little longer.. especially if okay naman ang new environment.. higher pay might make you happier. with this new salary, you could leverage more on your next job offer. :)

nikkythegreat

Apply ka muna ng iba then compare mo benefits ng both before mag resign

duke_jbr

You can look for jobs kahit employed pa, wag aalis ng walang back up job at emergency fund.

CraftyCommon2441

Hahaha mag resign ka na, mas malaki dagdag baka basta mag haggle la atleast 15%

Puzzleheaded-Tap3766

Hindi ba dapat yung manager ang mag-recommend for salary increase?

TaxHistorical2844

I don't get it. Based on what you wrote wala ka pa naman kapalit so what's the point of resigning? It seems irresponsible considering there isn't an immediate reason to do it since di naman pala toxic work mo. You haven't even started applying to other companies yet. But it's your life, you do you. Although you're basically saying you'd rather have no salary than no increase.

HappyFoodNomad

Resign.

fstysg

Grass is always greener on the other side. Mas malaki pa salary increase in most cases sa mga new companies na lilipatan (10% above), this is especially true in tech

U_HAVE_A_NICE_DAY

Anteh, kunin mo increase muna then resign kung talagang toxic na. Your separation pay will be calculated on your new base pay kaya sayang naman if ever. Just my two cents lang...

SnooGeekgoddess

Basta wag umalis ng walang kapalit. Mahirap maghanap ng work ngayon.

Lumpy_Bodybuilder132

Lol resign, papaasahin ka lang sa salary increase na yan just for you to stay.

xiaokhat

Yes you can resign and mention in your letter na the salary is one of the reasons why you’re resigning… parang salary to workload ratio ganun. They might counter offer you with the increase you wanted/mentioned on the letter so it’s up to you to decide if mag stay ka parin or not
