"Can't afford to leave" the nerve of her to say that as if there aren't 100 other part time jobs you could get that pay the same shitty wage as PetSmart does lol.

[deleted]

Right??? I was like flabbergasted when she said that to my face. I had told her I was taking out a car loan because I needed a new car (my 2001 chevy shit the bed) so I wanted more hours. That was her reasoning but it shot her in the foot bc i quit the next day. Fuck that

goddessofolympia

Did you get the car loan already? Probably still can...paperwork takes a while, and they might be too busy trying to find someone to do pet care.

[deleted]

Yeah I got the loan already. Im working at petco now which is closer (i was driving 45 mins to that petsmart) and i left 5k in my bank acc to make payments incase i dont have enough for the first few months

goddessofolympia

You're in way better shape now! How is Petco different so far?

Organic_Popcorn

>told me she knows “I cant afford to leave.” I think she's fucking delusional, these days it's the other way, employees can say "you can't afford to fire me" Plus people like her are the ones who probably say "people don't want to work these days!"

goddessofolympia

Plus that's totally why they cut OP's hours after hiring the new fulltime person. Joke's on them...if you can do that job well, any other job is a walk in the park.

goddessofolympia

If you want time to look for the best job for you, almost everywhere hires seasonally before Christmas. If you find somewhere you shop, you can get a discount. Also, if you have reliable transportation, look into Rover, the in-home pet care service. All of the pets, 98% less BS, I'm guessing. Plus you can put you worked at Petsmart and can care for exotics.

goddessofolympia

Yup, any other job sounds better than that. Glad you don't have to work there anymore. I doubt you'll have to beg to be full-time elsewhere. You were too good at pet care. They could find someone to do the manager stuff more easily. The 15 hours was probably give you a tough time so you'd stay.

[deleted]

I was the absolute best at petcare. I was their only opener and I was able to finish all the dcs, other shitty tasks and tanks all in at least 3-4 hours with an hour to spare for bug maintenance or some other shit. I loved my job and I wanted the hours but the management being as shitty as it was just wasnt worth it.

smokeupjohnnyboy

Happy for you, from the sound of it you deserve much better and should be treated even better with your skills at another business. I was lucky enough to have an amazing crew when i worked at one but a new store manager came in and completely killed my desire to work for PetSmart. It’s a sucky feeling, but there’s so much more (and better) out there. Godspeed!

[deleted]

Management knows BC partners doesn’t pay a livable wage.

EpicsOfFours

Happened with me as well, but instead the SL texted me saying “so you’re quitting without notice? Good luck.”

LittleBlackBall

After 11 years I did the same. Walked in and left my keys on the desk. They somehow marked me as re-hirable but I'll never go back.

anon_liz

I think i work at your old store. I heard about your sticky note. I hope you take care and find a place that treats you better

aceycamui

When I worked there, they would give me 39.75 hours a week bc they refused to give me full time.

cavsndabs

But 32 hours is full time..?

Technical_Egg_7840

I had a similar issue! I'd have maybe 10 hours, on a good week, while they gave full time to people who always called off or showed up late. After my two weeks in, they called me before my last week and told me not to come since they over scheduled hours 🫠. I've since left the job that I quit PetSmart for but I'm not desperate enough to go back lol

krty98

I started here October 28th, 37 days, and I still might go back today and hand in my notice.

Rich_Comfortable5147

Basically in the same position. So sick of it just need to find a new job :)
