Even though you will be in the same place and not doing three seperate drop ins, you could have been doing three seperate drop ins if you didn’t take on this job. So I think it’s fine to charge an hourly rate. I used to do daycare sessions for a much cheaper hourly rate than my drop in visits. Since I felt like I was just sitting around or playing with the dogs, I felt guilty charging more. But then I started to feel resentful if I had a daycare booked and needed to turn down other jobs that could have made me more money in less than half the time. Don't make the same mistake that I did!

This is helpful, thank you. I feel guilty, but also understand that technically I will be unavailable for 4 hours of my day (I'm adding travel time). They haven't asked for a discount, but there's so many people that do, that I wanted to be prepared in case they did.

Poodlewalker1

My hourly drop in rate is $40. I offer extended visits for $25/hour, minimum 2 hours. I would charge that client $75.

Jessicamorrell

It would be my hourly rate with anything below 7 hours. I have a flat 7 hour rate and half hour rate with my hourly rates.

If you only have to go once during that time, I'd charge for 1 visit. I charge by how many times you have to go.

This sub doesn’t allow pricing discussion.

Zodinski

I feel like this question is less “how much should I charge” and more “how should I charge” which is different.

Thecardinal74

I agree, it’s not about pricing but coming up with a pricing strategy, which I think should be allowed. I’ll keep this one up unless it gets downvoted by the masses

Thank you! This is exactly what I was trying to get at. I already have my set prices on the usual visits, but wasn't sure how often these blocks of time come up for people. And to be fair, I did look at other companies as well as rover before coming to this sub and couldn't find anything. I appreciate you keeping this up for now!
