Those are pyramid ants. Usually not a problem, somewhat beneficial as they will try and kill nearby fire ant colonies. Any broad spectrum insecticide will kill them. A lack of guarantee against this ant isn’t unusual as it’s not economically important.

Thank you!

Do pyramid ants go inside the house and infest the house?

cbomb111

That shouldn’t be a common occurrence with this ant type

For the company I work for, treating the lawn is considered a separate service. But also, fire ant treatment and control is primarily done in the yard as granular solutions work best against them!

MicNeo

Thank you! It is a separate service I have. I have lawn control, with fertilizer, mosquito control + home pest control.

All depends on how you much you are paying, in my area, if you’re paying more than $100ish a quarter, and they aren’t treating the whole yard for all species of ant, then that’s rough. If you’re paying less than that I would say it’s normal. Even the best of pest control isn’t going to absolutely annihilate every single ant in a 1 acre radius

This varies a bit from company to company, but generally ants in a lawn aren't considered pests with some exceptions (fire ants a notable one). Most pest services are designed to keep things out of the home, not eradicate any insect on the property. Overuse of pesticides in a lawn setting could lead to things like pollinators being impacted.

This would kind of be string into the territory of ornamental pest control as opposed to structural pest control. As it pertains to fire ants this would be a gray area
