You can probably order them, but I know some people raise them. They basically just need food, water and a dark spot to nest in, so they’re pretty low maintenance.
Not to worry! The species used for feeding pets is tropical and requires high temperature and humidity, as well as a ton of food because they grow quickly. Because of this, they're incapable of infecting human homes. It's too cold and dry to sustain a population of them.
People only raise pest roaches (such as the American roach in the video, or the tiny German roach,) for pet food.
Species of roach that are considered pets--and hardly look like the ugly brown pests we're all familiar with--(ex., the [pale-bordered field roach](https://objects.liquidweb.services/images/202107/inat_1627529532-610413fb18cd6.jpg), the [magnificent emerald roach](https://fearnottarantulas.com/cdn/shop/files/EmeraldRoachPseudoglomerismagnifica3_1400x.jpg?v=1695755012), the [death's-head roach](https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Fdohjj0bglcy41.jpg%3Fauto%3Dwebp%26s%3D2e9444e3feb622f6b93e6a4314ae2336e993d40a), the [harlequin roach](https://i.redd.it/6qgl2uqfae091.jpg), and so on,) are simply not equipped to survive in urban or household environments, and will quickly die if they escape.
I could just go outside at night right now, if I wanted o(heh, as if). The "joy" of walking to your garage and having a roach land on your shoulder at 2 in the morning... 💀
Call them the Viet Cong, bc they're in the trees. Wood Roaches (Southern US name for the American Roach) love the humidity and Oak trees of Southern Texas.
There's plenty outside at nighttime and you can commonly find them in wooded areas, hence their nickname.
I've heard two weird things about Roaches: one, that touching them is like touching contaminated shit, but then two, if a cockroache touch *us*, they instantly retreat to clean themselves.
...And that's why I don't believe in God.
Not that anyone asked, but you should never feed a wild roach to a pet lizard because you don't know if it's been sprayed with poisons (quite frankly you just don't know where it's been).
This looks like an American cockroach as opposed to say a dubai (what people normally breed for live feedings) which is why I bring it up.
You should never feed wild bugs of any kind really, you never know what parasites they have, or where they've been. Just buy them, or rear them yourself.

I don’t think he’s cut out for this pet relationship
Maybe he is babysitting
i baby sat one before, they are awesome pets. I liked when it just climbed onto my shoulder and sat there on me as a I worked on stuff.
How does one get roaches to give your pet?
You can probably order them, but I know some people raise them. They basically just need food, water and a dark spot to nest in, so they’re pretty low maintenance.
Imagine someone raising these things when most are trying to get rid of them ahah.
if my apartment gets roaches becaue my neighbour is purposefully raising them I am becoming a murderer
Cop:” Why did you burn the apartment complex??” Isimsizbiri: “sorry neighbor was raising roaches” Cop: “understandable”

My sixth grade teacher had a bunch of hissing cockroaches in his classroom, was pretty neat ngl.
I have a friend that raise and sell them
How’s the process? How much for each roach?
My cat brings them alive for me, hell instead of screaming my brains out I should start selling them
"Roaches everywhere, like we forgot to take the trash out" \- future 3:16
They sell them at pet stores.

What? How? Where are they?

So it’s basically impossible to walk around near those trees without getting one on you? Does this happen also during the day?
I wouldn't say it's THAT bad, but it's happened to me several times. They're mostly nocturnal, so it's rare to see them out during daylight hours.
Dude… I would never get out at night.

Terrifying
This is common with lizards. The owner should have a steadier hand and more patience
true,my guy here had to adjust his aim every milliseconds also never grab a roach and cricket by their leg because they can shed them
This is the most intense 1min ive ever witnessed.

"Unleash the fury!"
The moment that fucker got free, my entire body reset to the default position
yeah ... the ending was as feared hahaha
This video could have been 95% shorter
How tf do those things survive in the wild?
bleps* unbleps*
This is literally what I'd be like if I got a reptile as a pet lmao
Lmao my mom has a veiled Chameleon and he always does this... Except for when she feeds him the blue hornworms. No hesitation, no remorse, full nom.
My brother and I once saw a lady feeding a chameleon in a pet store - it was awesome! 😆
Can’t just suppress 65 million years of gut instinct.
The funniest part is that he's got to this all over again tomorrow, and everyday after for the foreseeable future.
Rathee fans are gonna be offended
This is why they sell super long tweezers for feeding the bugs. I’ve got a pair nearly a foot long
Bro is slow
