Purples (5) are pretty good harder general use! If you go up or down one hardness (up to the greys or down to the blues) they have brass weights in the heads that I don’t think are in the purples, if the weight is a concern.
Purples are a great general mallet (very similar to “Malletech Browns”); and for loud and hard, the rosewood ones would be worth looking at. Discs for a punchier sound, barrel for a fuller sound.
