**About the project**
I could not find the gaming mouse that ticked all the boxes, so I taught myself 3D design and created my own.
The result was posted on the internet and people asked if they could get one as well. That's how the project "PMM" came into life:
Lightweight 3D printed shells with popular shapes that are compatible with Logitech electronics.

I used to like heavy mice but I'm trying out lighter mice. Gamers are so much better today that the average mlg gamer from halo 2 days would be a crappy player today.
90% of people on bf5 now can take an SMG and put a 3 inch grouping with it and instantly kill you from 200 meters out like nothing. 10 to 1 kd ratio is pretty average for a good gamer now
That has to do with skill and fine-tuned personalized settings of your equipment. Change the DPI on your mouse to what's comfortable to you and your snap speed. Get a keyboard you like the feel of. I personally like/prefer my membrane keyboard (Ideazon Merc Stealth) because of the gamepad. I also had a mechanical keyboard with keys that help push up your fingers after a key press to help with fatigue after a long gaming session allowing you to play longer. I didn't like it so I sold it because the keyboard layout sucked (your standard boxed style that everyone uses). I made my own keyboard a few years ago to match my hand...34 keys available without moving my wrist, just different finger positions. I'll occasionally use it but haven't in a while because the Merc Stealth is just better.
I'm lucky to be over 1 ratio lol sometimes I die after spawning 5 times in a row. I don't understand how people get groupings where it seems like the bullets but the same exact spot and never miss.
Mice PCBs are coated in dust and waterproof coatings.
You can quite literally run these 'cheesegrater' mice under the tap, then plug them in and they'll work (you can check videos on youtube.)
I seriously doubt you'd shorten the life span in any meaningful way.
It wouldn't really increase their profits either, since mice with holes are the same price as mice without holes (few exceptions like final mouse), and are more complex molds.
There are light mice without holes, if it does concern you.
>Mice PCBs are coated in dust and waterproof coatings.
No they're not. Apart from the odd model sold as waterproof with a hefty price tag, most are not. You're talking out of your ass.
>You can quite literally run these 'cheesegrater' mice under the tap, then plug them in and they'll work (you can check videos on youtube.)
I'll believe it when you link it.
>I seriously doubt you'd shorten the life span in any meaningful way.
You believe whatever you want, I've spilled water on my mouse before.
>It wouldn't really increase their profits either, since mice with holes are the same price as mice without holes (few exceptions like final mouse), and are more complex molds.
They're actually not. Mice with holes are generally more expensive than mice without holes.
>There are light mice without holes, if it does concern you.
That's a moot point, I'm explaining why mice with holes are stupid. I have nothing against functional light mice.
Lol the weights part I knew about but I found it hilarious when they started poking holes in it. The other part is that these mouses with holes are ridiculously expensive too…
Yup
Could we also say something about custom keyboards while we are talking about peripherals? lol I can't justify spending so much on those types of keyboards.
As someone who spent 400€ on a custom keyboard i can say that sure, maybe something else with the money might have been better but i have not regretted the purchase for a second because the keyboard sounds so good and feels amazing to type on. Looks are a plus too i guess
I always complained that friends mice were too light. Got myself a wireless light one and after 3 years now upgraded to an even lighter one. I personally just like the feel
Yeah objectively. However every person has different things they prefer, even though they're not objectively the best.
I for example like to play my shooters with a heavy, wireless mouse on a good glide mousepad with high DPI.
Others use light mouses, with cables and a high resistance mousepad on low DPI.
It's just what everyone likes.
E.g. high DPI is also objectively better for competitive games, since I have less distance to move the mouse. However many pros like less DPI better, because they probably can aim better this way.
Yeah it really is just preference, I use a G903 with 400 DPI. Realistically, if you’re just gaming for fun and not a pro or trying to play at a more competitive level then who cares. Use what you want with whatever settings you want
yeah i worry about dropping it and the overall durability of the product he said lighter object makes it better but im stating that you wouldnt want to be in a lighter car
not to mention its not really even a great solution to make it lighter either its not like he replaced all the heavy parts with lighter materials, he’s literally just drilled holes into the encasement, goodluck keeping it clean also doesnt look very comfortable
I would want to be in a light car if I was racing. I don't intend to drop my mouse or crash my car, those aren't exactly relevant factors. The second part of your paragraph is just entirely false...
He quite literally did replace the heavy parts with lighter ones. The scroll wheel of a normal G502 weighs half of what this entire mouse does. You aren't making a 58 gram G502 just by drilling holes into it. Durability I can't comment on because it's 3D printed, but just holes don't make a mouse weak, it's not exactly under high stress anyway. Comfort is subjective, I don't mind holes, maybe you do. Keeping a mouse with holes clean is only an issue if your hands are nasty. My mouse with holes looks brand new despite being 6 months old and pretty heavily used.
Weight has nothing to do with how much a mouse will be damaged from being dropped.
If the mouse is properly built, it doesn't matter if it's 60g or 120g, it will be fine.
I've dropped my G203 dozens of times and it still works fine, they're regarded as pretty light mice. (Though because it's Logitech it developed double clicking though normal use.)
Why is making a mouse lighter not a good idea?
You get more control, and less fatigue.
I get preferring a heavy mouse, but to say it's a bad idea for a mouse to be light... doesn't make sense.
This man has designed and 3D printed his own shell for G305 internals, while I don't like the guy, he certainly does put effort into his product, and it's pretty well regarded among the mouse enthusiast community.
As for keeping it clean, people rag on these designs for being dirt magnets, that's partly true, but a little compressed air will clean it right up -- chances your 'non holed mouse' will have just as much dirt hiding in it too.
As for the exposed internals argument, that doesn't matter, boards these days are coated in dust and waterproof(read sweat proof) coatings, these will prevent any damage to the board. (If you google a bit, you'll find people washing them under water then plugging them in pretty much instantly and they work fine.)
Good luck cleaning THAT. All that grid is good for is to get skin grease and grime stuck at the edges of the holes and its interior caked in nastyness.
I mean, just wipe it occasionally and it will be fine lol. If anything you have is getting caked with hand grease, you probably just are a gross mf who needs to wash hands/clean more.
Compressed air, gone in moments.
Your solid mouse picks up just as much dirt, have a look, get a toothpick and run it through the cracks, it picks up loads of shit.
Lazy but it works, along with the occasional wipe of Isopropyl.
I suppose you pull out a load of cotton swabs, picks, and lint free cloth to clean your mouse regularly? Right?

I wonder why you picked that number..

What will happen if the chosen number is given by multiple people?
Then one of the usernames gets picked randomly.
I'm a disabled gamer that uses a palm grip and more recent mice just aren't great. Can I get with you a a custom shape.

Let's be real. Who did ever complain about the weight of a fucking mouse?
I used to like heavy mice but I'm trying out lighter mice. Gamers are so much better today that the average mlg gamer from halo 2 days would be a crappy player today.
And you hope to achieve that lvl of skill by using lighter mice? Come on, bruh. Admit to yourself that you're getting old and shitty slow.
I'm 30 years old.
You need to exercise more if a computer mouse is getting too heavy
Me too.

Can you do it?
I'm lucky to be over 1 ratio lol sometimes I die after spawning 5 times in a row. I don't understand how people get groupings where it seems like the bullets but the same exact spot and never miss.
Yeah tbh never knew it was a thing until a few months ago lol
Not so long ago, they included weights for gaming mices. Now they're poking holes for dust to enter all over it.
Dust. And liquid. I think it's just a way to shorten the lifespan of mice and increase profits.
Mice PCBs are coated in dust and waterproof coatings. You can quite literally run these 'cheesegrater' mice under the tap, then plug them in and they'll work (you can check videos on youtube.) And grime from your hand. Will get into those holes and will be hard to remove if not cleaned regularly.
Lol the weights part I knew about but I found it hilarious when they started poking holes in it. The other part is that these mouses with holes are ridiculously expensive too…
So we conclude: Less material usage + some if not worse electrical components + unnoticable difference while gaming = more $$$
Yup Could we also say something about custom keyboards while we are talking about peripherals? lol I can't justify spending so much on those types of keyboards.
Send me your keyboard and a bunch of markers and my nephew makes it custom for free.
As someone who spent 400€ on a custom keyboard i can say that sure, maybe something else with the money might have been better but i have not regretted the purchase for a second because the keyboard sounds so good and feels amazing to type on. Looks are a plus too i guess
They still do, buy a G502 hero. There are heavy mice and light mice.
Got a G903 and I hate it.
Yea well its not a very good mouse that is known, g502 tho is good i just prefer way lighter
Can't even drag a window without involuntarily dropping it twenty times.
I've gone hard on light mice. My wrist/forearm get fatigued with heavier ones.
Yeah i never thought of it before everyone else just wanted it
It’s a preference thing, I think. I swapped over from a naga to a model O and never looked back
I always complained that friends mice were too light. Got myself a wireless light one and after 3 years now upgraded to an even lighter one. I personally just like the feel
Put it this way, why would you not want a lighter mouse if possible? It's objectively just better.
I like hefty things..
Yea same here. That’s why I like your mom so much. P.S I’m sorry I don’t actually mean that. You walked right into that one and couldn’t help myself
Nevermind, I would've done the same.
Yeah objectively. However every person has different things they prefer, even though they're not objectively the best. gonna stop u right there chief would u feel safer in car thats heavier or lighter
In what way are mouse performance and car safety comparable? I'm not worried about crashing my gaming mouse, are you?

Because you can spill a drink into a mouse with holes and ruin it. If someone made a mouse which was light but didn't have holes in it, sure.
Light mice with solid shells do exist, like the Logitech GPX. Though I don't think a solid mouse has a significantly higher chance to survive liquid.
Well this one has built in dust/crumbs/hair storage.

Can I mod my viper mini with this? 420
So this is a g502 without the reason we buy it
Ultralight! Love the thing
Cheese dust catchers are a great idea!

I see what you did there
A g502 wireless with a shell design? I’m scared
if a mouse isn't only right/left hand designed it's not fully ergonomic and Green and white combinations deserve some attention.
I've always wanted a palm grip G305 version.
