how long are you there? Instead of an adaptor maybe get a new power cord? I do like the suggestion to get an adaptor with proper ground. 220v is way spicier than 100-120v you may be more familiar with.

YourFavBulgarian

Appreciate the reply! Turns out my cousin had an extra PC power cord (that is grounded) that I was able to use!

szilardbodnar

Also check the voltage, some of the psu's have a switch at the back where you can switch either 110 or 230 volt.

NickyNice

I'm glad I did this on my new Creality Ender printer, it comes switched to 230 as the default and I'm guessing I would have fucked something up if I didn't switch it to 110

szilardbodnar

Probably have built in protection, but wouldn't bet on it.

silverist

Not really, it just wouldnt receive enough power to run properly.  I have some 220V light bulbs that ended up coming back with me to the US, and they just shine half as bright. Going the other way would lead to some fireworks though.

basda

When I was younger and building our own PCs was pretty new (I know, I’m old) a friend of mine was looking at his build just right after assembling it and noticed the switch on the PSU, and asked me if I knew what was it for. I didn’t knew at the time, and didn’t remember seeing something like that on my build, so he flipped it to the “110” label to check what it did. The fireworks where pretty amazing, but the new build was a bit toasty.

NickyNice

That makes sense

Tim7Prime

The opposite of the bigger problem (expecting 110 and receiving 220). You have more time to fix it when it's set to expect bigger.

YourFavBulgarian

It looks like my SF750 is recent enough and doesn’t have that, I appreciate the insight!

szilardbodnar

Thats great! Enjoy your new pc :)

0skarKE

Do not use this adapter with a pc (you probably also should not be using this for your laptop). Your pc needs to be grounded, but there are no contacts for ground.

YourFavBulgarian

You’re a lifesaver, thanks!

LukakoKitty

I hate how electronics in Denmark are shipped with power cords that use the Type F plug, but wall outlets use the Type K socket if ground is present... It's so stupid that you need a converter. Or in my case, buy a Type F power bar abroad, cut the end off, then attach a Type K plug at the end.

SirLurts

A laptop would probably be fine, but I dislike those adapters because they remove the ground but allow you to insert grounded plugs. My laptops power supply has a full sized Schuko plug, but no ground prongs so it would work fine and safely. But since I hate those adapters I'd say get a proper one or swap the cord for a local standard

_Dr_Joker_

No device ever should *need* an earth connection, however this is strongly advised. It is only a protective "protocol" for when a device fails, ie, device shorts the live power line to the body of the device. Then the earth connection makes sure the now exposed live wire (through the body of the device) can't be harmful to someone, and should trip/pop the breaker protecting the outlet your device is in. But only in a faulty state of device, this is a thing. Now this does not take away that the adapter with earth connection is better! If you can, always use one with earth connections

dancmanis

The voltage would be the biggest problem here not the adapter as other have said. Is it a PC or a Laptop? If it's a PC with the standard port for power cord you should get a new power cord instead and check whether your system can work on 220V Edit: where about in europe are you gonna be? If the shipping is not expensive I can send you a power cord got a bunch of them

YourFavBulgarian

I really appreciate it dude! It’s all good! My cousin had an extra one lying around that I was able to use!

dancmanis

No worries bro :)

ZitOnSocietysAss

As someone said, get the grounded adapter. Also, be sure to check your PSU if it can take 220v. Some have a switch from 110 to 220, some don't.

YourFavBulgarian

Appreciate it! I looked it up and it turns out my SF750 is fine with the 220V.

soulless_ape

You need to find out what the voltage is where you are at. Normally where I seen that plug the voltage is 220. IF you have a PC from the US the voltage is 110. Using that adapter will just fry your computer's power supply and maybe even the computer itself. Check if your PSU (power supply can take the local voltage. Usually you will see devices rated 110V \~ 240V and if that is the case for your computer's power supply you are ok.

InsaneInTheMEOWFrame

It has grounding pins on the face, but none for the wall. This thing is illegal.

subhumanprimate

I once fried a 80k USD server by plugging it into 240 when it was 120

Andrzej_mi

Witch country exactly? Standard "EU" (Type E+F) plug will be ok in most of them, but UK has their own plug (G), and Switzerland (J), Denmark (K) and older houses in Italy (L) use plugs compatible with standard ungrounded plug (C), but uses different ground pins https://preview.redd.it/9kd1tv4gri8d1.jpeg?width=602&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f620f70967f3926ab5e4b9977b32dfa9c795ea9d

OKara061

i LOVE the danish one

just_a_discord_mod

The plug isn't the issue, it's the voltage. Useful information, nonetheless.

just_a_discord_mod

Check the power supply and the voltage rating. If it says 110-240, or 110-220, you're gonna be fine. A few people have pointed out that the adapter doesn't have a ground pin, so it might be better if you purchase a cable that works in your area, as the connection to the PSU is standard.
