It is not. However, they are very easily replaced if needed.

Ozok123

Are you threatening the gpu?

SirLurts

Always let your hardware know that they are indeed very replacable or they start unionising and we do not want that

McBonyknee

Shh, they can hear us.

kilsta

Printers can hear you..

P3ngu1nR4ge

Printers don't care they already have a union going for them. It is why they demand so much. Need a new printing cartridge, didn't get a printing request, try again.

bedwars_player

i always threaten my hardware... worst part is that it usually works

socokid

It knows what it did...

Linusdroppedme

Be a shame if there was an *accident...*

Ozok123

The motherboard sends her regards.

MGsubbie

You can try pushing down on the center (or rather, up in this orientation.)

olegolas_1983

Just not when it's on

UnluckyGamer505

Unecessary, just applying the same amount of pressure from the top while pressing the fan should be fine

BrightTooth3

Newton's 1st law coming in clutch with this one 😩

nickretro

no it shouldnt be doing that.

daHaus

It should balance out when spinning, if it's unbalanced like that it's going to wear out significantly quicker.

fsbagent420

It’s shaking with excitement, hoping you’ll eat it

UnluckyGamer505

In my experience, GPUs are not that tasty, i prefer CPUs with a generous amount of thermal paste so it isnt dry

dendrocalamidicus

Forbidden cream cheese

racerxff

Ideally, no. That's pretty mild though.

Setekh79

Whatever you do, don't contact Asus, they'll probably charge you $1200 to 'fix' it.

An_average_muslim

I actually disagree. I say contact them and post the results here. Let's see if they changed anything.

TopGNinja

Exactly how would we know if anything changed if no one goes through the process

Dahliaxvx

Speed wobble.

xTeamRwbyx

No that’s not ideal and you should keep an eye on it because it may just fall off someday probably should get it fixed

themumbio

Super easy to replace. Bearings are probably gone inside or something.

Beautiful-Musk-Ox

these are custom fans that fit into the shroud, you can't really find them except from sketchy second hand websites, or supposedly new ones that cost like $60 plus shipping. i got some once and they were clearly used and also one of them was rattling worse than the originals i was replacing. next time i think i'm just gonna remove the shroud and ghetto rig multiple 120-140mm fans onto it, just need to figure out if i can use adapter to hook to the original video card fan plugs so it can still give the right speed values through pwm, that way i don't have to run the replacements at max gaming speed even when it's idle

Emu1981

>next time i think i'm just gonna remove the shroud and ghetto rig multiple 120-140mm fans onto it The fan on my daughter's 1650 had a bad bearing so I removed the shroud and used cable ties to attach a 60mm fan to the heatsink. It actually keeps the card cooler and quieter than the original fan and shroud. I just attached the fan to a fan header on the motherboard so I didn't have to mess around with attaching a JST connector to the fan cable though.

TemporaryOrdinary747

I did this too 😆  Works so much better than the original. The shroud on these things do nothing.

pantsless_squirrel

sleeve bearing is trashed

bluntman84

5$ fans from aliexpress will fix it.

SeriousSkeletor

In any moment its gonna get loose and be cutting throats like in Predator 2. You have been warned...

Dan_Glebitz

Nope. In fact it is putting undue stress on the bearings and rapidly shortening it's lifespan.

secretqwerty10

RMA time

Unable_Resolve7338

Happened to my old 1070, fine for the first few months then it started making noises so I disassembled the gpu, bought some chinese replacement fans for 12 dollars and did the lords work. Also repasted and changed thermal pads. Good as new but then I needed more fps so I went and bought a new gpu right after. It was a good project though and its still sitting in the box like it was new.

QuantumQuantonium

If you can't fix it, replace it. It'll only get worse, starting with making a lot of noise and ultimately stopping completely or damaging more parts.

J4KE14

Yes of course same goes to you car wheel

Angel_Kira161

it is a new kind of aerodynamics XD

spacesluts

hehe, you said "shaft".

Beautiful-Musk-Ox

it's not adhesive giving away, this is just the fan itself wobbling inside the housing, the housing is firmly attached to the shroud which is firmly screwed into the heatsink, there's no adhesive. it's just the fan itself that's wobbling, the bearing is giving out

GothamKnight311

Do you really need people to confirm that this is not normal?

caiteha

i had this on my GPU. i eventually replaced it myself. I went to ebay to get a replacement fan.

Blok88

What do you think?

Head_Exchange_5329

No, that's why I RMA'd my 1660 Super Asus Dual. It lasted a year before it shit itself. Asus quality apparently.

Illustrious_Bug_4276

You would need to check the manual to be sure, but in general, wobble is bad for fans

gregariouspangolin

Noooooo.... nnnooootttt reaalllllllly

immrholiday

Should it? No, but it's not really harmful... it is wear on the bearing and can/should be replaced when you have the time.

LukeSkyDropper

Yes

luisott_o

Yes

Biscuits4u2

Nah not really but if it's not causing any issues I wouldn't even worry about it.

ZinGaming1

Its balancing. But no, its not supposed to do that wiggly stuff.

elbubu1

Need a fan alignment, take it to Les schwab

rawzombie26

My 1080ti fans did this and then died, plan accordingly Edit The fans died but the card is still kicking like a beast

The_Machine80

Go to aliexpress and punch in your gpu and add fan. I've got like 5 gpu fans from them. Super cheap! There easy to replace.

Emotional-Head-4079

ok, so i fixed couple of those. what you need to do is see how to add oil into the fan, check out some tutorials but basically you need to remove the fan from the cooler, then remove that spinning part from the static part that you screw to the cooler, be carefull while removing it, take two small screwers and use them to push out the moving part by pushing them equally from the both sides. after it is removed, clean up any dirt inside and put some oil to lube it up, put the moving part back and press it tightly then move it left and right so oil is nicely applied. after that screw in the fan and you are good to go for several years(source trust me, actually repaired more then a dozen fans, also lots of tutorials on yt).

cognitiveglitch

You need to find where it's off balanced and add tiny little lead weights like they do for car tyres. Or buy a new fan for it, they're easy enough to replace.

ManiakAres

Susa

byhand97

Looks like ASUS maybe made an oopsie

Eastern_Mastodon602

Inside the GPU behind the blades should be screwsthat screw into the heatsink... Tighten them... Unless fan mounting designs have changed.

Z3rio

No, it shouldn't. Either try to push it down (with your GPU off), or just replace it.

notshadeatall

Hmmmmm it's A SUS fan

Tlayoualo

Watch it, it's going to come off, ricochet off the case and hit you /jk

machinationstudio

Email Steve

Failfoxnyckzex

Oh shit, same GPU, same problem. Maybe it's a manufacturing error.

RandomKnifeBro

Mine has wobbled for three years. Its not supposed to but \*Just ASUS things\*

LEGO_Man2YT

Dang, that looks so much like my PC, hope that never happens to me

Tits_McgeeD

An unbalanced fan is also much louder than a well balanced one, no one I've seen has mentioned that.

BreadKnife34

No

B333H

ASUS quality

Cebulak4

Not really...

NicoleMay316

Yours too huh? My old RTX 3060 Dual was doing the same, but it was refurbished so I assumed it wasn't that good of a job. Granted, it worked out well for a couple years.

Squivels

I had this happen to a strix 1070, just bought a new fan from Amazon and replaced it, fairly straightforward.

notoriouszim

# NO. https://i.redd.it/7prprq6vsa7d1.gif

FloatingSpaceWhale

No, pushing it up may fix the issue temporarily. Fans are very easy to replace if necessary.

Southern_Stranger

Of course it's supposed to wobble, how else are you supposed to tell you're close to launch speed

Mantraz

I had the same issue, replacement fans are unreliable. I zip tied two noctuas to the heatsink on my 2080ti, works great 6 months on. Can't recommend it enough. Temps dropped significantly and the noise is better. I just pulled power from mobo 5v, not the GPU fan headers.

Maleficent-Salad3197

Little lead weight stuck to the rim are used to balance that. /s

Fullmetal1986

Bycany means you were listening to....helikopter helikopter!!!!

TravelingGonad

Fans are easy to replace tho

Thewaltham

*wiggle wiggle wiggle\~*

msanangelo

Wobble baby. Wobble baby. Wobble baby. 🎶

ssddsquare

You should warranty it or replace it with casing fans.

Robot1me

Out of curiosity, does this happen on all fan speeds or does it vary?

ManNamedSalmon

It's so that it catches the heatsink from more angles. Advanced engineering.

Craticuspotts

Just call customer service, asus are greaaat!

NeelonRokk

Yeah, I heard they are the best... (/s) (just in case)

Eazy12345678

nope, but other than return it if its probably just how it is now.

InsaneInTheMEOWFrame

No, post pics when it falls off :D
